My Feelings About The Book...
I knew before I even started reading this one, that it was going to be a very emotional read, what I didn't count on was the emotions being so intense and me not actually wanting to put the book down!
How Intense Was The Reading?
This book was very Intense and it was beautifully conveyed aswell, the fact that all this happened when the world shut down from covid. I felt myself getting angry, upset and frustrated while i read.
Could I Put The Book Down?
Nope, i flew through this book, hoping Amelie would get all the best in life and more. It took me only three days to read this one.
How I Feel After Reading.
Casey and her husband are the best kind of people, and more people in the world need to be like them. They give their love, time and dedication to children who's parents or carers can no longer be in the picture for whatever that reason may be. I felt so upset while reading, i felt the hurt and pain for little Amelie. "And there was obviously a whole world of things we didn't know yet. About how they had lived, how their day - to - day lives were conducted, what fears about the wider world her mum, with her illness, had passed down to her little girl to be accepted as facts." I am so glad their is foster carers like them to show children and vulnerable young ones that not every adult is bad, but these two very special people have made a very big difference is young Amelie's life and I am sure many other children. Sometimes there really can be something that restores your faith in humanity.
As This is a non-fiction book, I always rate them as 5 stars as who is anyone to judge other's life.

A very well written memoir by Casey Watson who is a foster carer.
This story follows the story of six year old Amelie who’s mother attempted to burn down their house during a mental health breakdown - as you can imagine poor Amelie SHOULD be traumatised by this but how her mothers mental health affects her is bizarre.
It gives a fantastic insight into how mental health can affect the wider family/people close to the family, how the social care/fostering system works and the challenges the foster child/families have to go through!
Another brilliant book by Casey Watson. Set in COVID times. Casey and Mike foster a little girl who's mum has bi polar and put her life in danger. They also have some other children to stay on respite during the story. Casey tells the story so well , you can feel the emotions and the description of how we all felt during lockdown is spot on as well

Another fabulous book from Casey Watson. This story was of pure sadness on how a mother can become extremely poorly due to mental health Casey took in this lovely girl and kept her safe and loved.
This is the first of Casey’s book to go through how she cared for a foster child during covid.
Mental health, so many have it unnoticed. It was sad that it got that bad for Kelly. Then she finally got the help she needed. As for amelie, im glad she got a happy ending, with the help from Cathy and Mike. I love reading Cathy's books because they're based on true stories they actually happen.
I’ve always had soft spot for Casey. I particular liked the dynamics of seeing Mike and particularly the story of Amelie.

A wonderful story. It warmed my heart entirely to learn what a wonderful little human being Amelie was/is considering she had been living with such a mentally unstable parent. This was the first book I’ve read by this author but it sure won’t be the last.
Reading about covid was a bit fucking boring and sounds like the author loved the shitty rules but I guess it was about the time. Amelie was interesting to read about and casey is a good author and I learned a lot of new words.
Casey always writes as life is so you feel like you are a part of the story. I lived every feeling thought the book. I would definitely recommend it as a good read.
It always shocks me when I read these kind of books. It highlights the mental struggles that people go through and the effect this has on children, and how often it can go unnoticed until its nearly too late.
Great read, you forget what lockdown was like until you read book. It brings back all the memories of what we all went through. Thanks Casey for another great read.
