Hello, smiling face! From laughing to cooing, from sneezing to yawning, join baby in discovering what expressive eyes, noses, and mouths can do. With high-contrast design and engaging photographs, Hello, Face! is perfect for the very youngest readers.
This book features photos of babies and families paired with consistent text on each page, introducing various senses through descriptions of blinking eyes, laughing mouths, listening ears, and more. The high-contrast text and images are designed to engage babies, while colorful squiggles enhance the photographs to illustrate movement. Although this is a charming introduction to the senses, the title may lead readers to expect a focus on expressive emotions, and it's worth noting that hearing is not technically a facial feature.
Each spread shows a baby with grown-ups and highlights a different part of the face using clip art style graphics. The clear photos really show off the indicated body part. I like the repeated use of nose and eyes for showing different things they can do (blinking open, closing eyes; smelling, sneezing nose). Nice to also see a baby with a feeding tube and another baby with a cleft palate. Liked by Elsie. Could be good for a baby storytime where you can touch each body part.
The babies at Storytime love to see pictures of other cute babies. It is also diverse. Wish they had a large copy for Storytimes instead of only Boardbooks. LOVE!
