Book Production Procedures for Today's Technology

Rate this book
Aimed at book production personnel, the book evaluates and redefines book production procedures in light of the rapidly changing technology of prepress and manufacturing. The production manager's role is explained in terms of a simplified Book Production Model, which clarifies and organizes the many steps in production. The book is "mapped," chapter by chapter, according to the Model. It is a must-read for new people in book production, for self-publishers, and for experienced production staffers who need to brush up on their procedures. After an Introduction to the Book Production Process, subsequent chapters include Evaluating the Manuscript, Scheduling, Transmittal Meetings, Permissions, Copy Editing, Design-Costs-Budgeting, Release for Typesetting, The Proof Stage, Manufacturing. A Glossary and extensive Index are also included.

A comprehensive view of book production. It’s detailed but not enough to make you go “huh?” It is a little out of date so keep that in mind.
