The Byrne Brothers #3

Ruthless Salvation

Rate this book
Stormy
I don’t seek out gorgeous men with psychotic tendencies,
But damn if they don’t have a way of finding me.

Beautifully broken. Endlessly tempting.

Each day at work, my brooding Irish boss acts like he wants nothing to do with me.
And every night, he stalks me like I’m the very air he breathes.

So why haven’t I tried to escape him?
Maybe he’s not the only one who’s a little broken.

Torin
I’ve never known obsession until now.

I hate the way it feels.
The conflict.
The cravings.

Stormy Lawson consumes my every thought.

I yearn to punish her for being so damn irresistible.
I ache to own her, so I never have to know life without her.

But more than anything, I’m compelled to slaughter anyone who touches her.

*Ruthless Salvation is the third book in The Byrne Brothers series. Each book in the series features a different couple and can be read as a standalone with a happily ever after, but for maximum enjoyment, follow the recommended reading order.

Content Warning : A dark romance with adult themes, Ruthless Salvation may not be suitable for sensitive audiences. It deals with matters of domestic violence (not between the main characters), pregnancy, loss, and infertility. For a more detailed list of possible content triggers, you can visit the books tab on my website.

A Note from the Author : Take the grumpy/sunshine trope, sprinkle in a little mafia and a whole lot of over the top possessiveness, and you have Torin and Stormy’s story. It’s heart-wrenching and seductive yet still tender and playful. This one has ALL THE FEELS, so buckle up!

For those of you who are new to me, I write what I'd call "mafia lite." My heroes are hardened criminals with soft spots for their heroines. There may be violence and cruelty in my books, but never between the main characters. Enjoy!

Jill is a Texan, born and raised. She manages the hectic social calendars for her three active children and occasionally spends an evening with her dashing husband. Aside from being an author and a mom, she's a travel junkie and loves to read when she is not lost in her own stories.

With Jill’s books, you can count on confident heroines, plenty of steamy tension, and deliciously assertive leading men. There are no guarantees in life, but with her books, you know everything will work out in the end. However, a perfect ending would not be nearly as satisfying without a seemingly insurmountable challenge. Jill loves to add plenty of adversity in her stories, creating unforgettably dynamic characters and sneaky plot twists you will never see coming.

I would not call this a stalker romance. Torin followed her home in the middle of the night from a safe distance to make sure she was safe(which she knew about). He also copied her apartment key without her knowledge, which she got mad about. Guess who did the same thing to a place the Byrne brothers own?
Correct, she did. That was pretty much it.

Slow. About 62 pages was dedicated to Storm’s past. 62 pages of her being with another man, being completely enamored with another man, blaming herself for him hitting her, realizing she has to leave, and at last escaping. These chapters happen in between the chapters from the present and goes on until 63% in. To me that’s extremely excessive, flashbacks and Storm retelling what happened to Torin would have been enough. I was dreading these chapters.

Torin & Storm:
Torin carried their relationship throughout the whole book. Storm’s got a traumatic past and has problems trusting people, and so does Torin. What differated them was the fact that Torin was honest with Storm anyway, meanwhile Storm lied and withheld information from Torin. The constant ”I’m going to do this and that because it’s safer for everyone” was so fucking annoying. The ”solution” she had 77% in? IQ of a trash can. I didn’t like Storm over all, she was annoying. Torin could have gotten someone better.

The plot:
Storm’s ex, Storm’s secrets and Storm’s trust issues.

Silent Vows - 2.75 stars
Corrupt Union - 4 stars
Ruthless Salvation - 2.5 stars

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: opposites attract, stalker
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

I love a good grumpy/sunshine, but when the hero is also completely OTT for the heroine, falls first, and *maybe* has stalker tendencies? Solid gold! Stormy seems to attract crazy like bees to honey, but the fact that her grumpy, silent boss is stalking her probably should bother her more than it does 🤷🏻‍♀️. Instead, he makes her feel safer than she's felt in five years. Overcoming past trauma and letting someone in can be difficult, but Stormy wants to trust Torin ... it's just hard when her instincts have let her down before, in the worst of ways.

Ruthless Salvation totally ticked all my boxes! The storyline was great, the writing fabulous, and it was fast paced and moved well. The character development was phenomenal and your heart will break for both Stormy and Torin the things they've had to overcome. The chemistry between them is super hot and I loved how Stormy liked to egg him on to pull him out of his shell. I found Torin to be very sweet in his own, grumpy, kind of way, lol. He just can't help himself with Stormy and how drawn he is to her. This whole series has been fantastic and I can't wait for the next book!

This series has yet to let me down! Stormy and Torin have quite a bit to work through, and oddly enough, the grumpy one is the one to push for more. But can they find a future with everything piled up against them?

Stormy will make you want to cry for her a few times. And her love for the one thing left that she’s allowed to have is so very endearing that I worried about him, too. But Torin might be the man who can fix it all for her, if only she’ll open up and let him.

As for Torin, I knew he had a story. And it’s a heart wrenching one. But his past has taught him to be strong and to recognize that when The One barrels past all defenses, he’s got to embrace the love that refuses to be ignored. Even when angry, he makes a point to prove that Stormy and her safety matter more than just about anything, and who wouldn’t want that in a partner?

I see more danger ahead with Oran and I can’t wait for his story. I just know things will get explody again before long and Oran deserves to find a love like Stormy and Torin have, for sure.

This author’s heroes are some of my favourite. They are loyal, Ruthless, jealous and obsessed.

Stormy and Torin were completely opposite but like they say, his brokenness calls to her’s. I loved how they came together and couldn’t resist the pull between them. But for me the favourite part of the book is the familial bonds. Especially how they all came together in climax and how it all played out.
Can’t wait to read Oran’s story next.

-opposite attract, grumpy x sunshine.
-work place romance.
-boy obsessed, beautiful psychotic Villain (trust me it was hard to hate him but his actions were Vile)
-resilient, brave heroine.
-found family, twists and turns.
-could be read as standalone, KU and safe.

The book deals with some very intense subjects so check the trigger warning.

-Omg yes to possessive men. I never go into a book blind but I went into this book blind. I had no Idea what to expect and I was blown away. The way my heart kept racing. Torin really said stalk her till you get her. I love the characters dynamic. The dive into the past was an emotional rollacoaster. I love the relationship between Torin and Storm. Ruthless Salvation was filled with secret, revenge and Love. I loved every minute of this book. I couldn’t fault it. Dark Mafia romance with a possessive MMC, touch her and die MMC. It was so hot. The chemistry between Storms and Torin was undeniable.

Torin and Stormy both have my heart and soul! These two absolutely blew me away. I knew seeing Torin fall was going to be epic because well he’s Torin but the love he found with Stormy is indescribable!

I have to sing Stormy’s praises! This woman is one heck of a heroine! She clawed her way out of the pits of darkness and I will forever be in awe at the strong heroine that Jill created. Stormy for me was the show stopper. I love seeing a strong alpha man fall for his woman but to see a woman like Stormy not only fight her way out of darkness but overcome it as well…I AM IN LOVE! It’s no wonder why Torin fell so hard. Her soul spoke to his in a way that only they would understand.

What I love about Jill’s writing is that it has dark undertones but they are relatable. Some the situations presented in her books are real life issues and I like that she presents them in a way that shows not only healing but also growth in her characters. Her hero’s are men that stand next to their heroines. They build them up and never let them fall. They are a little stubborn when need be and will get their hands dirty if they have to but they would never hurt the ones they love.

Torin is the perfect example! The way he cared for and then loved Stormy was all consuming. He protected her in a way that only he could. Gosh that boat scene! He would literally burn the world down just for her!

I am smitten with Torin and I can not wait to see what comes next with this crew because I know things are only going to heat up!

I love dark romance books that do not romanticize any sort of abuse and this book is one of the most amazing dark romances I have read in a while. I loved the relationship between Torin and Stormy. The chemistry between them was undeniable!

I deserve a medal for my perseverance with this one.

I'm sorry but I have not a single good thing to say for this book, maybe its a me problem but
- the plot was boring as hell
- I felt no emotional attachment to the characters, like, total zero, I even struggled to understand why all of a sudden they became involved with each other since there was no attraction to them idk
- all of this I blame on the writing, it's childish, some parts made no sense, and I hated so much we've being told what happens instead of reading about it when actually happens, like:
"when he learned what I've been trough.."
HOW ABOUT we, as readers, actually read that scene, especially seems really fucking important for the benefit of the whole plot..

but yeah, sorry I'm officially done with this series, since it only going worse and the first one was the only barely worth it.

It’s no secret there’s nothing Torin wouldn’t do for the one who captures his soul. Storm has a past that’s left her leary of anyone and she can’t settle and rest for long. Dive in to Ruthless Salvation and go along for the journey of secrets, passion and payback. This story packs revenge and love. Jill Ramsower knows how to bring the action!

I don’t know what to say about this book. There is no chemistry between the couple at all. The story is lacklustre.First 30% didn’t understand what’s happening , then it seemed like whirlwind.
How can they love each other without knowing a single thing abt each other. They mistakenly thought of love for attraction or lust may be. It seemed like a whirlwind.
The Villain is such hyped one DAMYON but nothing sort of action took place when time came. It didn’t fit at all.
I don’t know what to think of Stormy is she naive or stupid.

Just the part where stormy and Torin last 20% is okayish of the book

Jill is a literary genius. Her stories always have a way of pulling me in, I'm so engrossed in the words I can't come up for air

I knew this story wasn't going to be easy from the breadcrumbs left in the previous installments, but I wasn't ready to have my heart ripped out 😭 I very rarely cry while reading, but Stormy and Torin had me in tears multiple times 🥺 no wonder they were so drawn to each other by the demons of their pasts 😭

They're both so similar but they wear different masks to hide what's happening underneath. Torin hides his behind a grumpy exterior, whereas Stormy is the sunshine, and I tell you when I can't get enough of the grumpy/sunshine trope, Jill had written it to perfection 😍

I'm also not a massive fan of jumping from present to past, but it was so important to this story, and I found myself wanting more from the past to know what happened to make these characters the way they are!

Another masterpiece Jill! And that ending 🧐 uhh what the hell is going on 👀😂

"Ruthless Salvation" is the thrilling third installment in Jill Ramsower's Bryne Brother Series, set against the backdrop of the gritty Irish Mob scene in the heart of New York City. This Irish Mob Romance introduces us to Stormy, a strong-willed heroine working as a hostess and waitress in a strip club owned by the enigmatic and fiercely protective Tor Bryne. Both characters are haunted by their pasts, seeking refuge from their own demons in the tumultuous world of organized crime.

"Ruthless Salvation" is another solid addition to the Bryne Brother Series by Jill Ramsower. While the dual narrative timeline may momentarily distract from the main storyline, the intense chemistry between the protagonists and the palpable sense of danger make this a must-read for fans of Irish Mob romance. Ramsower's talent for crafting protective heroes and sizzling romances shines through in this thrilling and passionate tale.

“As I stepped out from beneath his malignant shadow, I was able to see that the losses I’d suffered, though heartbreaking, were not all that defined me”

This follows Stormy who is running from her dark past and into the sight of a grumpy Mafia boss. He is obsessive, and protective and makes sure she gets home safe as she walks home alone at night. But will the past catch up to Stormy?

Loved this third book so much. Stormy is so strong for what she has been through and Torin may be grumpy but man he can love. I got teary in sections and loved the plot. It's my favourite so far of the series and kept me gripped. Both the character's stories are so heartbreaking but worth the journey! I don't want to say too much or I may spoil it!

The story development is chef's kiss. The way it played out with its mix of past interwoven with the present really layered this story so well.

Seriously, I did not expect Torin's story to go this way! All I knew was that I wanted to read his and Stormy's story, and they did not disappoint. I did love Stormy. She was a great h, and I feel like she was such a relatable character. Torin was a tougher nut to crack, as was the intention, and he was written perfectly!

Their chemistry was beyond. This isn't the steamiest but it didn't need it. It's my favorite book and couple of the series! I could hardly put it down. The writing was excellent, as was the pacing. The ending wasn't as tight as the rest, but this story really shone through!

I received an ARC, and I am leaving a review voluntarily. Opinions are my own.

I have loved all the Byrne Brothers books (this one is the third in the series, with a 1.5 tucked in for good measure). This one is my favorite by far. I love every bit of Toruń's over the top, alpha possessiveness of Stormy.

“Baby, not even the devil himself can steal you from me.”

Torin and Stormy have so, so much baggage. Both find trusting anyone impossible, both keep everyone at a distance and both have more secrets than anyone can imagine. Their chemistry (even before they get together) is amazing and when they finally learn to trust one another, they're both done for -- cue the HEA that we know this author will give us. It's not an easy road... mind the trigger warnings.

“Love doesn’t even begin to describe what I feel for you. You’re my everything, and I’ll want you with me every damn day of my life.”

I enjoyed seeing past characters and the bonus epilogue is perfect! The next book is setup perfectly leaving the reader with just enough "what the heck" factor without an annoying cliffhanger.

This is book #3 of 4 in Jill Ramsower's Byrne Bros. Series. (Have loved all of them!)

This one often had me on pins and needles. I normally don't care for stories where one character (in this case MFC), hesitates to tell the other main character (MMC), critical information for fear of how he will react. But in this story, it's more than that, it's also fear for his safety as well as her major trust issues. And this girl has some big ones and valid reasons for it. The MMC also has trust issues himself due to events in his past. As a result never lets anyone get close to him. But with these two, like calls to like. Both recognize something in the other. And when her past comes back to rear it's ugly head, he will have to protect her.

I loved Torin and Stormy. Stormy suffered and overcame a lot, but the result is that she hasn't (can't) let anyone get close to her since then. Still, she manages to have a sunny disposition. Torin is a different character altogether. Deep, troubled, brooding and distant; but something in Stormy calls to him. He hires her to work in his club, and plans to keep his distance; but eventually he finds himself watching her more often and wanting to protect her. It's a compulsion he can't seem to resist. I loved that in spite of his normal nature; with Stormy, he accepts that it's more, that she affects him like no other and is willing to pursue it. But he has to deal with Stormy's fear without knowing what's causing it.

In the first part of this story, the chapters alternate between present and past so that we slowly get a picture of Stormy's past. (This is mostly before anything really happens between her and Torin). What I found to be a little disconcerting is that the first part of the chapters about the past have her meeting, moving in with and marrying what seems to be a charming, generous and attentive Russian. Disconcerting because you know going into this book that she will end up with Torin. To see her initially in what appears to be a loving relationship with someone else...(Key words here "seems to be", "appears") is just odd. If you feel the same, I urge you to stick with it, because once you discover the truth about this past relationship you will understand a lot and things really start heating up. 4 Stars. Looking forward to Oran's story next.

3/5 ⭐️

I love it.

Na pewno to nie jest jakaś genialna książka, ma sporo mankamentów, ale po doświadczeniach z poprzednimi tomami, na tym o dziwo bawiłam się całkiem nieźle.

Ruthless Salvation is book 3 in The Byrne Brothers series and another enjoyable addition. Stormy has been on the run from a very powerful man who will do anything to get her back. She gets a job at a strip club as a waitress and has grabbed the eye of her sexy grump boss. Torin is immediately taken with Stormy and has become obsessed with her to the point of stalking. Stormy and Torin were great together, their chemistry was OTT. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Stormy and Torin was *chef kiss*

I didn't know what to expect going into this. And then I saw Past and Present and I knew I was going to eat this book up. *i really did*!

Stormy is a sunshine, and then there's Torin, Mr Grumpy!

She works for him and I love love love their dynamic. I love how whatever Stormy does annoys him because of how attracted he was to her, literally got me giggling.

"I’d been following Stormy home after work for weeks, and every time it pissed me off when she didn’t close her fucking drapes all the way.”

“Every time she opened her mouth, it was obvious she thought the world was made of bubblegum and rainbows.”

But behind that sunshine, she was a broken girl and ugh I wanted to give her a big hug. okay I want to give Torin a hug too.

Stormy is such a badass, and I love it. Torin is down bad for her that he would do anything to protect her. So I love him. Don't want to spoil the plot so All I can say is, I love how the book was being written and the characters relationship.

The set up for Oran's book got me excited for his and I cannot wait for that!

Thank you for the ARC, looking forward to read more from you! 🫶🏼

First of all, I just have to say that I absolutely love this series! After finishing this book I can say that I am definitely looking forward to the next book.
I loved Torin and Stormy’s story! You can never go wrong with a good stalker romance and I loved that he fell first 😍
The ending was so suspenseful and had me on the edge of my seat. Some of the tropes aren’t my favorite thing but they honestly didn’t bother me in this book.
My only issue was that the MC’s hardly seemed to ever be together. Obviously, in the past timeline chapters, they couldn’t be together. But in the present timeline chapters, it just always seemed like they were by themselves or with other people. I just wish we could’ve seen them together more! But other than that small thing I did enjoy the book!

Whew! Where do I even start?! My jaw was ON THE FLOOR by chapter 2! It is hard to shock me, but the twists and turns in this book had me hooked. I finished it in 1 day! Tor and Stormy are my new favorite Byrnes book couple! I did NOT expect this storyline. Usually, I am fairly good at catching onto the next storyline from the previous book, but not here. This was unexpected and I loved every second of it! Who doesn't love an OTT MMC?! And a boss bitch for FMC?! This was FIRE (pun intended) and I promise you will not regret this read. Jill has done it again and I absolutely can't wait for the next book!

Stormy and Torin's story absolutely blew me away! The chemistry between Stormy and Torin is palpable from the absolute beginning and there are so many twists I didn't see coming. He's is a strong, bossy alpha, but Stormy is an amazing, strong heroine all on her own. Ruthless Salvation is dark, emotional, and gut wrenching, and I could not put it down.

Copy received from The Next Step PR. Voluntarily reviewing and all opinions are objective and my own.

Slow but good set up. I was completely here for Stormy’s background. Never saw that coming. I wished the romance was a bit more slow burn since that’s where I thought it was headed for sure. Cute relationship nonetheless and I like all of Torin’s personality.

Holy smokes holy smokes, holy smokessss

This book is gut wrenching and heart breaking and will then put you completely back together again.
It’ll make you ugly cry and then laugh so hard you snort.

Torin and Stormy are absolutely epic together.
Probably the best story of the entire series, IMO! Wooweee!

Please note there are a few triggering parts, but so so so worth the read that if you can handle it, it’s so worth pushing through.

No depth, couldn't care less about the characters

I struggled to even finish this. It felt like there was no development of the characters. They hooked up, both were messes from prior traumas and then suddenly with no build up we were supposed to believe they were in love? These characters deserved more. I wish the demise of the villain was developed further as well. Just rushed all around.

⚠️There may be small spoilers written below⚠️

I was torn on what rating I should give this one as it took me a day almost 2 to get into this one. I had been waiting months for this one to come out.

I am not the biggest fan of Stormy but she eventually grew on me (for some weird reason I kept picturing her like a steric typical deep southern speaking woman with like a 50s hair do that was round and curled LOL).

I dont like when communication is almost never there with the 2 main characters and this had a huge problem with that. Stormy is a sweet girl who we find out moves every 6 months due to her abusive ex. She didn’t one tell our MMC, Torin (Tor) what was going on and why she was acting the way she was or her issues. Granted he didn’t open up either. It was very frustration. At one point she wanted to tell him in order to scare him off but didn’t. That eventually lead to the family (mainly Oren) thinking she was like his ex wife and was setting the family up in a way.

It all eventually got figured out but damn. Communication is key people!!

Also, the spice was a 1/5. They had sex 1 time and she blew him 1 time which lead to her getting knocked up (way later in the book). I wish there had been more spicy scenes and a little more romance. They get knocked up after having sex 1 time? I’m all for a pregnancy trope but damn, let them have some fun first LOL

This was very Stormy based with it constantly flipping from her past and now present. We got to see how she was connected to Daymon but I felt like it was a bit over the top and led me to skipping most of the description and just reading the dialog. This was what I had a hard time getting into the book. Most books do a quick blurb in the beginning to give a slight backstory or while they are explaining a situation they give a backstory but not a good chunk of the book.

Overall this was a good read, I spent my whole day off reading bc it eventually picked up and I couldn’t put it down, which is why I gave it a 4/5. Once again, Jill wrote a fantastic read that draws you in.

Not sure if I’m excited for Oren’s story as he is kind of a dick but I’m still gonna but it lol
