This book is so wild! I read it in on seating! It's extremely sexy, dark, raw, emotional and it's not just smut, trust me! There's a crazy plot twist and so many character development which I loved. Valentina is a bada$$ that goes after what she wants and Logan is a sexy daddy that makes her swoon and crave for more. The spice level on this book is through the roof, so prepare yourself, you've been warned. The writing is so good, the story has an amazing plot twist in the last chapters and the ending is just perfect! I absolutely loved it.

Well…. This book was just 🥵🔥
Full of dark depraved spicy goodness, I couldn’t put this down. It’s also the first book to have some MFM action.
This book is about the eldest McGowan brother, Logan and Valentina.
We’ve seen in previous books that Logan is about to marry into another powerful family in order to expand their reach out of Scotland, it’s purely business there’s nothing romantic with Nicole. She’s actually in love with someone too who her father doesn’t approve of so the arranged marriage works for both of them.
One night Logan stumbles across a site where Valentina is working as a cam girl and the two hit it off straight away.
Imagine their surprise when they meet at Logan at Nicole’s engagement party and Valentina turns out to be Nicole’s cousin!
I don’t wanna say anymore because it’ll ruin all the yummy surprises! But let’s just say Logan brings out the obsessive side of Valentina.
There’s also some twists and turns along the way.

This is a solid 4.5 stars for me! Please, Goodreads, can we please use half stars in ratings?!
First things first: I received an ARC of this from the author. This is my honest review: Holy crow… when I say that this book had my emotions all over the place, I mean I was ALL. OVER. THE PLACE. Dark Desires by Effie Campbell is, well… dark (Duh!). Dark and steamy. Better yet, dark and steamy with a liberal dose of depravity thrown in for good measure. I enjoyed the premise of the story: Valentina works as a Cam girl, and Logan is engaged to someone else as the precursor to an arranged, loveless marriage. He stumbles across Valentina’s content and the two strike up an online acquaintanceship. While they do engage in video calls, he is still an unknown entity to Valentina because she never sees his face. Cue her cousin’s engagement party, where Valentina discovers that her Cam admirer is…. wait for it… her COUSIN’S fiancé. Yikes!! Is this any kind of obstacle whatsoever? For most it would be—- but not for Valentina! She’s got Logan in her sights and isn’t giving him up. Luckily for her, Logan has an arrangement with her cousin that each is free to pursue smexy time outside of the relationship —with discretion— since neither has the intention of consummating the marriage, which means all systems are a go for Logan and Valentina. And so begins their dark, dirty adventure! If you’ve read the previous book, Dark Obsessions, then you know what kind of dark, scorching activities await you. But in case you don’t know, this story is a dark mafia romance with age gap, voyeurism, and forbidden romance tropes as well as camming, c¥m play, and praise and degradation with a MMC who likes to share… are you sweating yet? This was a fun and spicy read till around 35%. When Valentina started chasing Logan, she became pathetic and very unpleasant to read her desperation.
I am old fashion from that point of view. A woman doesn't chase a man, no matter who he is or the circumstances.

My god I don’t even know where to begin with this book but I’ll give it three words: Dark, Depraved, & Spicy👀
This book follows Valentina, who is a cam girl and Logan, the eldest of the McGovern clan. If you have read Mac & Katie’s book previously you will know that Logan has agreed to a loveless marriage which means he is engaged when he stumbles across Valentina platform.
Logan and Valentina have video calls but she never sees his face until she attends her cousins engagement party and realises her cousins fiancé is her mystery man.
Now despite being engaged both Logan and his fiancée have an agreement to keep things discrete, as they will not be intimate. Valentina is a girl who knows what she wants and what she wants is Logan and she doesn’t give up on this quest till she has her man.
This book is an dark, spicy and an absolute rollercoaster👀
I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Valentina and Logan
I probably should not have read this book as I don’t enjoy this type of story. It must of been recommended somewhere but it’s extremely heavy on the bdsm and I just don’t care for that. A lot of the story takes place in a sex club that has all sorts of degrading things towards women… hey some are into that that’s fine but not for me. I kept reading- should have DNFd when she sat in the cake with nothing on… ugh too gross and then she’s crawling around on her hands and knees like a dog… and there is other people having sex with the main characters… I guess I was like a deer in headlights…

This is an interconnected standalone in the McGowan mafia series and I have been loving the audios for this series! This audio is performed in duet by Francesca Peregrine, Freddie Wills, & James Joseph and they did a great job at bringing the story to life! I couldn’t stop listening to it!! Check your TW if you need to before reading/listening but if you love the tropes below, then you will definitely enjoy this!

First I need to say that I am Team Logan all of the way!! Everything about this man made me weak! I loved Valentina's tenacity, her confidence, and how sure of herself and what she wanted she was. I was gasping, laughing, crying, and yelling through every point and when I say the plot twists were TWISTY I mean it. And don't forget the smut! This book was filthily delicious!! I couldn't put it down and you won't want to either!

I would crawl for Logan
Logan would make me crawl and for once I would enjoy it. He is #goals and I would kill to be the filling in an Alfie and Logan sandwich. Valentina/ Cherry fights do what she wants with no apologies and I absolutely love that about her. Most of us struggle to be that confident in our desires or needs she goes after what she wants no holds barred be that with her job or her personal life. Good on her. This book was steamy and endearing in all the right ways. Definitely worth a reread.

Hot Kinky Mafia Read!!
OMG! What a hot read this was!! It has it all - kink, smut and a great storyline! I don’t know how this author does it but not only did she, but she blew it out of the park. Logan is a Mafia Boss and fall for someone that is forbidden before he realizes that she is forbidden. The chemistry between these two is got to be some of the best felt that I have ever read! I really have no words to describe how great this read was and it has become one of the few books I wish I could read from the start once again. You will be encapsulated by the intriguing story, you will be wishing you were Valentina during the extremely pantie melting scene and you will be wishing to be a part of this crime family because of how amazing this book and series is. I can’t wait for the next one to come out!!!

Okay if you are looking for an extra spicy book that will leave you feeling absolutely in love with the characters this book is for you. I couldn’t put this down I finished in less than 24 hours! I was hooked from the first chapter!

Dark Desires by Effie Campbell is the 4th in her “Dark” series. This one has more smutty tropes in it than her others. This is by far her spiciest book. It has the word “daddy” 80 times in it if that gives you any indication of the type of book it is. It has sharing, MFM, MM and MMF all together. There’s also BDSM, voyeurism, age-gap and much more.
Valentina or Cherry is a cam-girl and loves doing it. Logan is a mafia man who is being forced to take over for his deceased father in run the empire and marry a rival mafia princess to build the empire. Logan and his soon-to-be wife Nicole have arranged that publicly they have to seem like they are in love but in private they can be with whoever they want. Logan ends up finding Cherry on a cam-site and instantly hit it off. Logan let loose some of his inner needs where as it was everything that Valentina wanted in her deepest sexual fantasies. Logan and Valentina end up at a sex clubhouse and experiment with each other while knowing that this is supposed to be a one-weekend thing. Effie is by far one of the best author’s in giving plot twists and you realize Hugh is a bigger jerk than you ever could think of. This book ends in a happily ever after and some final kinky scenes before it’s over.
My favorite thing about this book was that it wasn’t a man who consistently pursued. Valentina knew what she wanted and wasn’t going to take no for an answer. Often times it’s the man consistently trying to maintain the relationship or fighting for it and it was nice to have a female character doing so. This wasn’t just for her relationship with Logan but also her independence. She knew that she wanted to be a cam-girl and wasn’t self-conscious or ashamed of what she did. She wanted her own independence, her own way of providing for herself and whoever else and she knew what her body wanted. That in of itself is nice to read.
My least favorite thing about this the daddy trope. I, myself, am not a huge “daddy” person. I love dominant men especially dominant book men but not a daddy person. For me personally since that’s how I feel, it was hard to get into some of the scenes. Especially with daddy being said 80 times. Lol.
I gave this book a 3 out of 5 stars. It was well written and easy to read. I personally felt that this book was like 80% smut, 20% plot which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it did lend towards a lower rating for me. I just felt like there was so much of “we can’t be together due to xyz” that it made the plot of the story trying to fight those said reasons and then the huge plot twist that Hugh provides.

Logan, oh my god, this man had this woman OBSESSED with him to the point she semi-stalked him until he couldn’t stay away from her. The spicy scenes were soooo hot and no two scenes were the same.

Every Effie book just keeps getting better and hotter, I swear. I didn’t think it could top Dark Obsessions, but boy, did it 🥵—this book was so damn hot! This is the first in the McGowan Mafia series that features MFM too, and I loved when another man joined 🫣. I cannot wait to see more from Alfie, hopefully. I’m obsessed with Valentina and Logan, and I loved all the voyeurism throughout the entire book. They didn't shy away from showing off their chemistry and intense attraction to each other. The audiobook narrators truly brought these two to life, and they made the spicy scenes sound like music to your ears! Logan's accent in the audio is perfect and captures that primal, dominant side of him so well. I’m forever an Effie Campbell fan.

I was intrigued by this one as it promised to be a Scottish Mafia Romance but unfortunately, the "mafia" part was more decorative than anything else.
Our heroine, Valentina, is connected to the mafia through her extended family but lives outside that world. She’s a cam girl, confident in her sexuality, and meets a mysterious man online. Surprise! He’s her cousin’s fiancé and the head of the Scottish Mafia. Our hero, Logan, is indeed engaged to her cousin. But, it's a marriage of convenience and he has permission to be with other people. So once Valentina and Logan meet in person (at the engagement party no less) things escalate quickly and Valentina follows Logan to a sex club in the Highlands where we're offered a whole buffet of kinks.
So if you’re here for the spice, it’s plentiful. But for me, it tipped into excess without emotional grounding. The romance felt rushed, and the dynamic lacked the trust and intimacy that makes kink compelling.
As for the plot? Thin. Really thin. The villain (yes, we find time to build in a villain) is cartoonishly evil. And the romance? I struggled here. Morgan’s pursuit of the hero felt unbalanced, and his willingness to share her in such an emotionally undefined context didn’t sit right with me. I’ve read poly and shared dynamics that work beautifully, but this wasn’t that.
If you’re curating a super spicy romance rec list, this might fit. But if you’re looking for plot, emotional depth, or actual mafia intrigue, this one will leave you wanting.

Wow where do I begin?? Effie Campbell did it again. This book is super 🌶️. It is the story of Valentina the Cam girl and Logan, head of the McGowan mafia after his father passed. This has it all MF, Age gap, MFM, MMFM, Sex club and all the kinks. The part with the tiramisu…I’ll never look at the dessert the same again.

this is the 4th book in the series, I read this one first as they can be read as standalone..
Logan is sexy, hot and older..
Valentina is beautiful young and know just what she wants, she is not afraid to go and get it..
even if he is already engaged to somebody else.
There is no cheating in this book, you will have to read it to find out exactly how that works out.

The adrenaline rush that surges when reading an Effie Campbell story is overwhelming. “Dark Desires,” book 4 of the McGowan Mafia Series, does just that. Readers are introduced to Logan, the oldest in the McGowan line, who will enter a loveless marriage soon, but it is a means to an end.
The attraction is forbiddenly strong when he meets his fiance’s young cousin, Valentina, who is 16 years younger than him. And when he stumbles upon her cam girl page, he decides to play a little since he has been unable to do so with his financé—she isn’t into any of his schminks.
Anonminty only lasts so long, and Logan and Valentina explore many dark desires. There were moments of frustration on my end I had with Logan. He’s the kind of guy who wants Valentina in every way but rejects her simultaneously—it’s whiplash with him. Readers can expect wildly spicy scenes between the two characters and other characters that join in. “Dark Desires” had it all.
Though part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. I loved every dark, spicy, tumultuous moment.

Im giving this 3.5 stars in reality but because this edition is so gorgeous I will give it an extra little boost.
The first part of the book was all smut. The second part of the book was a mixture of smut and plot. I actually really enjoyed the plot line and wish that this book was longer so we could enjoy it because that last half of the book was a ride. Valentina gets a little better by the end. I would only recommend this book to people who are not easily triggered, so if you want to read it just make sure to read the TWs first. Overall, it was a quick easy read and i kind of hope the author branches out because she is a great storyteller and Id love more from her.

This book is all about forbidden desire and it definitely delivers.
Be aware to read the triggers as it's very much not unicorns and rainbows.
But I adore the way the story unfolds, how he tries his hardest to resist, and her unrelenting pursuit of what she wants.
If there were more stars, I'd give it to this book. 👌 Five officially. But I'd give it six, seven if I could.

This mafia romance has all the spice you could possibly want in a story. While this book is hot, hot, hot, check your triggers. Logan’s and Valentina’s story was a wild ride. Too smutty and had very weird vibes at times. Probably didn’t help that I hadn’t read the other books in the series, so that’s on me, but this couple and the plot wasn’t for me. In particular, I really disliked how many near tales there were, it became very strange after the third, and I feel like the poor FMC deserved better than that. Also, just generally, the pacing wasn’t great, it started off super slow and then a whole lot happened at the end.
