Don't be Distracted. Trust the Quest. Kill your Target.
Claire's home has burned to the ground. Displaced and plagued by nightmares, Claire can't rest as she continues her quest to eliminate every target.
And though she gets stronger by the day, so do her targets. Her Skills will be put to the limit as she does everything in her power to reach Target 75.
More Dungeons, More Targets, Warring Factions, Broken Cities - Book 2 in this action-packed story is sure to surprise you.
Claire is a young woman who, because of a traumatic event in her past, is now on a dark path. She has a list of 100 targets to assassinate, and an important one is coming up: target 75.
This part of Claire's journey was complicated, but still exciting to follow. She deals with a number of targets, all along knowing that she'd not yet strong enough for the big boss. She works hard to get stronger, and she's constantly thinking up new ways to use her skills.
She's more than willing to listen to others who might help her on get stronger, but she's incapable of putting up with someone wasting her time. She does have a way of burning through good will. I guess this is my long way of saying that I really enjoyed Claire in all her prickly glory.
The plot worked very well for me. The action scenes were a lot of fun, but the results of a few tugged on the heartstrings. People get hurt or die in this world, and it's not always the bad guys.
I also enjoyed post-apocalyptic Toronto, and was very entertained at how much Claire hated the other city she visited. It was pretty cool seeing her reactions to a different city.
Many of the side characters were well done, and had believable reactions to what was going on around them. I found Milly, in particular, intriguing, especially considering her age, and how much responsibility she has.
Even if you don't read this genre, I do recommend this series for the fantasy and adventure. Mostly for Claire. I'm looking forward to the next book.
Wowza what an exciting and explosive romp. It's actually more than just a butt clenching romp, as this was a pedal-to-the-metal action-driven litRPG. I loved it!!! The MC Claire is just amazing and so are the people she's willing to work with and some of 'em she's willing to call friends. She's also managed to keep her moral compass and that's sayin som'min, you might think that would be hard to do for an assassin!!! But she's got her ongoing quest a list of targets and her priorities straightened out, there are targets and the rest are people. People that live, work, and probably have families of their own. So get in on the excitement and grab this awesome series!!!
4/5 STARS! I love this series so much. It's way too underrated imo. Book 2 really adds a ton of character development for Claire (just needed more Chen) & I enjoyed seeing the world expand a bit more. I loved the fight scenes & dungeons in this one & seeing all the characters come together to fight. This was interesting from start to end. Now I can't wait to see what happens next. Book 3 sounds even better!
I picked the first book up on a whim and loved it immediately. The story is great and the writing is topnotch, much better than you often find in a self published work. Honestly, this series should be sitting on a shelf in bookstores like Barnes and Noble, the quality is that good.
What a doozy! I was not expecting City Hall to join Claire in killing Arie and capturing his crew. That was epic. I look forward to Claire's badassery but I feel sad she's had to leave Chen and Elle behind. Her little chosen family.
