Okay, I asked for an extreme horror and Broken Pieces Of June is most certainly that!
All the trigger warnings you could imagine apply here. This is obviously meant to be as shocking as possible, an extreme Splatterpunk.

The main thing that spurred me on to rate it low was that the Kindle copy I read had many glaring typos and grammatical errors! It kept pulling me out of the story as I had to report these to Amazon. It felt like I was a proof reader of a rough draft copy! Could absolutely do with being re-published. My brain is honestly baffled how this is featured on some people’s favourite horror books lists 😅 - am I missing something here !?

1.5 Stars - rounded up to 2 because some of the main characters were actually developed pretty well, I liked June’s interactions with the detective and the twists.

Vomit.
And Lots of it.

This would totally make your skin crawl. Not just because of the sexual aspect but by how cruel the characters are. Phew.

June Knots is struggling. Working as a maid in a rundown motel poorly managed by a repulsive overweight manager who constantly subjects her to aggressive sexual intimidation. One night, deciding to hit the bar, she bumped into two strangers who offered her a job. With no money and only the desire to leave town, June will be a willing participant in a world of brutal entertainment—she's gonna be a star.

The character development of June is scary. I wouldn't say that I liked her but she is a breath of fresh air if you're tired of the damsel in distress MCs. The gore and disgusting stuff didn't faze me, at all. I'm just so used to reading this genre so I am completely unscathed. Yep, the gruesome scenes were gag-worthy but it lack the emotion that should've went with it.

Although Splatterpunk basically means blood and guts and death, I would've enjoyed it more if it had a heart, something that would pull me in and tug at my emotional strings.

But, this is an OK book. Truly disgusting.

June Would Do Anything For Money!

Story 2.5/5

Broken Pieces Of June by Stuart Bray is about the blossoming of June Knots in the Snuff movie industry.

June is a young woman fleeing a terrible life with her stepfather and her mother. She ends up working as a housekeeper, in a decrepit hotel owned by a hateful man, for a small salary.
June doesn't want to continue living in poverty, so when an opportunity to make a lot of money comes along, she takes it.
She starts doing business with Richard and Lemuel, two very dangerous and depraved individuals.
She thought she was going to make pornographic films, but what Richard, her new boss, asked her to do was worse than she could have imagined.
At first, to survive, she had to engage in sexual acts with a rotten body. Then June turned into a monster. She is ready to do anything for money. And I mean, she can do all the disgusting, vile things you can imagine. Nothing is forbidden to him.
It's the kind of story I usually like to read when I'm in the mood for gore.
So why this low rating?
Because the writing style is bad. There is not enough character development. Sometimes the story is inconsistent. There are too many typos and grammatical errors. The Kindle edition I purchased is in my opinion a first draft. After many corrections, this book could get 3.5 stars.
At the end of the story, a deceased character is resurrected, because his death was a dream. But the reader knows that it was a dream, only when the character returned. It's confusing.
And just to make sure that everyone agree about the fact, that they never read a book as shocking as this one, the author added a zoophilic rape with a newborn. That made me rolled my eyes and chuckled.
Despite all the typos, and grammatical errors, I think I understood why this book is popular for Splatterpunk’s readers. This story contains a succession of depraved, disturbing, disgusting, and vile acts. Each scene is more intense, and gory than the others.
But for me, it was so over-the-top, that I could only laugh.
This book, made me think of recent pornography movies. People don’t watch them for the story anymore.
It’s the same thing with this book. Even though Broken Pieces Of June is poorly written, at the end of each chapter, a character dies in gore and cruelty. So, for certain readers it’s enough, i suppose. I’m not judging. I read the book, didn’t I?
But, I read very well written stories with gore, depravity and very extreme contents. Therefore, I rated this book compared to these excellent Splatterpunk books.
Nevertheless, i can’t wait to read the second book, that I already bought. I hope the writing style will improve. When I buy a book, i’m expecting a minimum of editing done.

Goddamn! Yes! When I say Splatterpunk and Snuff that's exactly what I'm talking about. I just started reading Stuart Bray, and he's quickly becoming a favorite of mine. That was absolutely brutal. Five Fucking Stars.

Oh man, this was some crazy, messed up shit, and I freaking loved it!! Think “8mm” starring Nicolas Cage, and you’ll get the gist of this story.
This was the first book I’ve read from the author, but I’m raring to go with the 2nd book of this series.

It was bloody, gory, violent, twisted, and had a lot of 🤢🤢🤢 moments. Make sure you don’t eat before reading this, as you might be seeing your lunch, make another appearance 🤣 June sure took to her new role, like a duck to water 🤣

This definitely satisfied the “gore whore” within me, though there were quite a few grammatical errors, which spoiled it somewhat, and this is the reason I knocked a point off. But all in all, this was a fantastic read, which I recommend to fans of extreme horror.

4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It took me a while since Violence On the Meek, but I finally made it to June. If you enjoy splatter as much as I do, give the first book in this series a shot. Yes, I liked it. It is my second book in a row that includes shears. I'm winning!

June, June, June. She is the star of this snuff based book and you start out feeling for her but that does not last too long at all. What a sick and twisted individual. Again note that this review is extremely sexual in nature and may offend so move on now and I am not joking!

I will say that I think I am finally starting to get the hang of these very short extreme horror stories. They had been leaving me disappointed or feeling that they should be much more. Yet my last two including this one have left me satisfied with what I read.

June is an out on her luck young woman who hooks up with two psychos who do porn a little differently than most. Babies and animals are involved and so is sex with the dead, including eating the privates of the dead. Some truly sick stuff!!

I grew up on porn. My dad had boxes and boxes of magazines in our basement along with many calendars of nude women. Since I was 5ish I looked. Yet porn has really come a long way since the days of basically seeing photos of naked women and reading stories that were quite remarkable and likely untrue.

In today's internet world I keep thinking of the line by Rajesh from the Big Bang Theory about downloading increasingly more shameful porn. From what I see on the internet the depravity just keeps growing. There are no boundaries and now anal has stolen the show and the ass is more worshipped than the vagina. There is pissing on everyone, there is ass to mouth, it is just crazy. Ps I am not fixated on porn at all. In fact I always tease guys that in today's porn versus with what I grew up with (pictures of naked women) one really has to question their sexuality. Here we are as guys almost fixated by another guys cock waiting for the money shot. A little odd right? Wonder where all that homophobic stuff comes from ....... maybe guys just admit that we are truly just sick deviant f***s who may just take sex any which way we can. And that is basically where this book takes us with June becoming more and more sexually depraved to the point where killing is part of the sex.

Not sure what I should read into all of it though other than perhaps that as Rajesh pointed out in the big bang that it is going to get more and more sicker and twisted and with that comes innocent people being used and abused and yes even killed.

In one of my cases at work our uniform officers let go of a girl in relation to a fraud ring they broke up. We wanted her as a witness and sent a car to pick her up at the train station as she was heading home to Montreal. When we got her in the interview room her story came out. It was the days of backpages.com (since shut down by the FBI) and her loving boyfriend had pimped her out that weekend. She had slept with 19 guys in a 48 hour period. She was not a loser. She came from a well to do home. She was gorgeous too. Like we were dumbfounded but the sexual assault kit done on her seemed to confirm her story. The case was handed off to the human trafficking division and some serious charges were laid. She had no reason to lie to us, as she was not involved in the 50 frauds or so committed and I kind of forget how her story came out but if you could see our faces on the tape as she told us all this well................lets just leave it at that.

Again who knows where all this is going. From the pics of naked women and sultry stories in the 70's to where we are at today..................who knows where it is going indeed. Quite a shocking little read and a four star rating. Note that the read is a little sloppy and needs quite a bit of editing.

Oh man! This was fucked up, stomach churning, bum clenching stuff!! Perfect! I loved it! Stuart Bray has fast become one of my favourite extreme/splatter authors, and if you're a fan of that sort of thing, I cannot recommend him enough!! 🖤

We first meet June as she is laying by a creek, sunburnt, battered, and after having been brutally raped….how the hell did she get there? You are about to find out, the hard way! Her story isn't an easy one to hear though, it's horrifically savage and all kinds of nasty and immoral.

June and her friend and colleague, Greta, are working and living at a grimy, rundown Motel, owned by the even more grimy and rundown Henry! Henry is a real piece of work and it's not just his crappy attitude that stinks!

One evening, on a night off, she meets Mr Black, Lemuel and The Anvil Brothers, and her life abruptly changes, in the most grim, degrading, humiliating and utterly horrifying ways! The things she is forced to do, just to prove her worthiness, are enough to completely break the most hardened of people. But she has hopes and dreams, and it's continually envisioning these hopes and dreams, whilst she is participating in these events, that gets her through this, that removes her from the horrendous acts enough to survive them….to become her other persona, Mary! And once she can separate herself from those acts, she soon gets into the swing of things!

I ended up with a bit of a soft spot for Lemuel, his character, The Freak is an utter savage, but his 'normal' personality had me sympathizing with him on several occasions! In saying that though, his backstory….Holy Shit! And the fact that he says that he is like it for no other reason than he wants to be, not because of anything that made him that way, is shocking and ultimately terrifying!

I can't make my mind up as to whether I think this was worse than Violence on the Meek, or whether it's on a par with it. I think, to a degree, it's both, in different ways and at different parts! Whatever though, I absolutely loved it, even though I had to keep taking little breaks with this one so that I didn't vomit! This was a tough one, and I like to think of myself as a bit of a veteran now! 😂

The dark humour and just the humour in general made this a fun as well as brutal read! Extremely shameless, debauched, and savage, with vivid descriptions of every disgusting, nasty detail. I could hear the screams in this book, smell the stench and taste the vileness! Full of unrelenting, unapologetic horror! Some of the most fucked up, brutal stuff Ive ever read! My jaw hit the floor so many times, and what a shocker of a twist and ending!

If you're a snuff/torture fan, a fan of Carver Pikes 'Diablo Snuff' series, Jon Athan's 'Snuff Network' series or Otis Bateman's 'Maggot Girl' books, YOU WILL ADORE THESE BOOKS TOO!! 🖤

I'm not sure where to start with this review...But I feel I can't give it anymore than 3***
The book started off well and June grew on me quite quicky, she was one crazy messed up bitch and the book was gory ,brutal and pretty intense and some bits made me nearly throw up what I had eaten a few hours before!!
Then...unfortunately it started to go a down hill faster than a car without any brakes!!
Some confusing deaths and the return of certain characters that the book lead you to believe had been "Snuffed Out" but it seemed that it was all dreams on June's part?? and that ending...WHAT????
Then the typos...grammar errors... and editing errors made me want to commit my own murder!! SO FUCKING ANNOYING!!
The story was was one Hell Of a Roller Coaster Ride...with it's ups and downs and twists and turns.
My head and my whole body hurt and ached everywhere after finishing this book...along with my butt after what happened to June's.....OUCH a very loud OUCH!!!
This book didn't inspire me to read the second book...I'll be giving that one a miss!!

This book is like…. About as bad (and by bad I mean fucking GREAT) as if you had taken a narrative similar to Serbian film, and threw into book form. Stuart Bray’s sick sick mind has me ready to read the second book immediately. I finished this in less than a day cause I couldn’t put it down. I don’t want to spoil anything, but think 9mm, with the sickest most depraved fucks imaginable, and then expedite it and intensify it times 20, and what you have is broken pieces of June. She puts American Mary and any other horror starlet to shame. Holy shit. If you’re into splatterpunk and extreme horror, give this a read you will not be disappointed. If you have a weak stomach and prefer a milder sort of horror or soft gore, I’d put this down before you get to the second or third chapter because you’re not going to be the same after reading this.

The only improvement I think that could be made on this book is that there are a few editing errors that could be remedied…small typos in which words are missing, the wrong word is interjected, one letter is wrong, or there is a misspelling. I wanna say I only found about 9 examples, but the story was fucking gold. Usually I’d take maybe a star for editing, but the story was just so good and so brutal I can’t bring myself to do it.

BRAVO. 10/10.

My first read by Stuart Bray. Quite impressive. Liked it. Snuff, lots of vomit (like a lot), shady and awful characters (lol). I would’ve liked a little more depth on the main character June. Otherwise a great story.

June is a maid in a run-down Motel. She hates her life and dreams of a nice house on the middle of nowhere but you need money for that, money she doesn’t have. Opportunity knocks when she meets Richard Black and his assistant Lemuel, who create videos. Very special videos for special clients.

Would have been three stars but the insane amount of typos really bothered me and took me out of the story. I can forgive a few, but this felt like it hadn’t even been through spellcheck, let alone edited. (Process “prosses”, Sordid “sorted”, to name a couple.)

Lacking in character development. Heavy requirement to suspend disbelief. Interesting otherwise.

I hate June. What a boring, basic girl with main character syndrome.

June is a young woman who wants out of her poor miserable existence. She meets up with two men at the hotel that she works at they make her an offer that she can’t refuse. The money is too good and the future looks too bright. What June doesn’t know is what they will require her to do. How far will she go to get the future that she wants?

Holy smokes! This book is not for the easily triggered. Thankfully, I am not triggered by much because this book is RAW. I love extreme horror/splatterpunk and this book gave that and so much more. This is the first book I have read by this author and I look forward to reading more because I thoroughly enjoyed his writing style in that he didn't hold back. If you are looking for a book that will shake you to the core and stay with you,,,then look no further.

Reader warning this is a rough one

This may be the most messed up book I have ever laid eyes on. That being said, the character development was better than most splatterpunk books I've read. The gore was brutal but also super creative. All in all I give this 5 stars. I can't wait to see what else is going on in Stuart Brays disgusting mind 😁

Ok, I would’ve rated this higher, as it was such an insane, bananas, wild story.

HOWEVER, I am super confused because one character got killed… there’s pages of them fighting and then getting shot…. But then they randomly reappear and it’s like they were never part of this pivotal prior segment?!??

What the heck?!? I can ignore the punctuation issues, the extreme scenes didn’t bother me, the characters were so so and some could’ve used a bit more back story…. But this strange plot mixup really bothered me.

I want to keep reading the series and I hope the other books are in better shape 😔

If I had a pound for every book I've read about a young woman, in the early 90's, getting pulled into a world of underground snuff movies in order to survive, I'd have £2. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice

“But once you get good at something, no matter what it is, it gets a little harder to stop over time.”

Lol, so this is an interesting one because it wasn’t on my current queue and I’m pretty sure Bray is under the impression I’ve already read this trilogy. 😅🫣 Anyways…

Someone in one of the horror groups asked how to get out of a reading slump not long ago. I commented and told them to give themself some grace and read something from an author they know would just hit. Then it quickly became my turn to take my own advice. So finally, after way too long of being on my TBR. I can officially say that I’ve began the June trilogy. And I am officially out of my slump. 🙌🏼

I needed something that was absolutely depraved and brutal. Bray delivered just that and more in all the best ways possible. I binge read this in one day and can see why so many people recommend it as a “must read” in the genre. June is an absolute beast and her character development is done really well, albeit unhinged AF. I felt absolutely disgusting after finishing, and when it comes to this book… that’s a compliment and a half. This shit was foul. And absolutely fucking wild. 😅

If you’re looking to test your limits with the depravity… look no further. 🤌🏼 And it’s available on KU!!

WTF did I just read👀👀
This is probably the most fucked up extreme horror book I’ve read till now! i
It’s SO FREAKING AWESOME!

It’s beautifully written and there are so much meat (literally) to this story! It’s not just written for shock value - there’s actually a pretty intelligent story too! I had not expected so many great twists!
It’s so close to perfection I could cry😭! My jaw is still on the ground.
I do recommend this IF you’re into EXTREME extreme horror. If you are - you’re in for a treat! I recommend going in blind, just to get the shock value thrown “splat” in your face!! And then the twists jus keeps coming and coming!
I won’t go much into the story, but am I wrong to be absolutely in LOVE with June??? Read it and you’ll decide🤫🤫
And ofc - here’s ALL the TW’s you’ll know of!!
Now I’m going straight into the sequel - White trash: Broken pieces of June II
And rumor has it that there’s a #3 coming up in June (no pun intended huh?)⛔️⛔️👀👀👀

This is not only a 5⭐️ - it’s closer to a 10⭐️😬

I just have to put in a warning ⛔️ This is some f’d up shit, please at your own risk😬

‘When the Black side has you quite literally in Knotts!’

An extreme snuff movie story with all the expected depraved and disgusting abusive bodily trimmings.

A good tale with plenty twists and turns, but could someone please tell me the deal with Detective Frost? Not sure what happened there, but hey, I suppose nothing is off the table when you read a grizzled and gory old splatterpunk adventure!

Finally, too many typos and editing errors for me, but glad to say, they didn’t significantly affect my overall general degenerate enjoyment. Will be reading the other two parts of the trilogy, but perhaps after taking a short break from all the sickening, but gloriously good, fictional insanity.

spoilers: i loved this book! i loved the concept and story line it was really brutal! i am so excited to read the second part but i did have some issues with the writing. there was lots of grammar and punctual errors for example the tape with ‘sweetie’ on it she was referred to as ‘candy’ at one stage and other than some spelling errors also there was a few times in the book the story just didnt flow for example when june had the dream in the barn, i had to reread it as it didnt really make it seem like a dream, i didnt really understand the part with dalton either? did she turn on him or did he turn on her? and also when she dreamt she shot detective frost it didnt make it clear after the scene it was a dream i had to reread it a few times. if you can get past these few small mistakes it is a brutal book with an awesome plot line.

Pretty f*cking fantastic! I gave a solid 5 for all this book's gruesome and filthy snuff content. It was fast-paced, and sexy in all the wrong ways. June was a total grimy little s*ut when she need it to be, and I just wanted her to succeed and be happy! That ending gave me just that. Not a rainbows and lollipops type of fairytale ending, girls like June need more than that. Will not spoil that ending but it's safe to say that it left me wanting more.
