The balance between sin and virtue is at stake in a world where demons, angels, and humans roam free.
Marik, the demon emissary of wrath responsible for the balance of sins and virtues on Earth, finally learns the full truth of an ancient prophecy. One that confirms his worst fear, archangels are attempting to abolish sin on Earth. But the divination foretells that balance can be maintained if Marik can find the chosen being to restore order.
Meanwhile, a young healer named Aeryn Ryan is up for guild selection—a fate she desperately wants to avoid. Having completed her spell casting studies at Red Pines Academy, one of the seven guilds tasked with policing rogue immortals will take her into their fold. But as a female healer, she is more likely to end up in a breeding camp than hunting down immortals. But that is the least of her worries. Aeryn harbors a secret—one so unnatural it would send her to a guild lab as a test subject. Her only chance to avoid this fate is a costly, well-timed escape plan. But when people at the academy are murdered, all clues point to Aeryn, dismantling her plans.
With time running out, Marik goes undercover at the academy during the selection, desperately trying to locate the chosen one. There he meets the enigmatic Aeryn. Convinced she is the one to fulfill the prophecy, he must prevent her from falling into the Guild hands before she is forever lost to the sickness of the Guilds.

”I have you, my Little Thief. And this time, I’m not letting you go.”
Ok, so anyone who’s seen me review has probably noticed that I don’t 5 star often. I save this rating for my absolute best books. The ones I will die on a hill for because I truly think they’re great. This? This is one of those books.
Ryn, our FMC is sassy. She’s not one to take things lying down, despite the life the academy have mapped out for her. In this world of Angels, Demons, human casters (magic), and shifters, life is predetermined. At a young age, anyone who displays magic affinities is pushed off to academies, to learn and train their gifts. The gifts of Virtues and Vices. Magic is tied to these, gifts of humility, greed, justice and wrath etc. it’s all fascinatingly done.
But Ryn’s had one foot in the door for a long time. If the auctions don’t go well, she’s out. Even if it means leaving Ness (her bsf), behind. And no one, save for Ness, can ever know what she’s truly capable of…
Insert Marik. Broody, powerful and a man on a hunt for the chosen one he’s seen in a prophecy. The magnetism between these two is amazing! It’s instant but it’s not done in a cringey eye roll kind of way. The tension flows and so does his possessiveness over her. His demon will burn the world down anytime someone touches her. But Marik is there for a reason, the place he loathes to be. He has to play the game. To make sure no one realises who he truly is and avoid showing his hand, if he does, the implications would be disastrous.
So, yeah. I’m dying on this hill, it’s an amazing read. The build up is fantastic and I can’t wait to read more. Thank you so much for letting me arc this, I can’t wait to read the second one.
It’s coming out in November! NOVEMBER! Can we talk about that quick release? Or better yet, can someone read this please when it releases so I can swoon over Marik with someone? Thanks. 😩
Kate M. Hopley’s debut novel is an absolute MUST READ❣️ This book sucked me in to a new world of possibilities but admittedly the aspect of demons and angels and anything paranormal has always been my jam.
The characters are amazing and well developed. I especially loved Marik and our female MC, Aeryn aka Ryn or as Marik calls her his Little Thief😍 I don’t want to say too much as I feel this book is an experience one needs to read to “feel” everything that is going on, but I will say that there are some exciting secondary characters, Ness and Felix in particular I’d like to know more about. The others are still making themselves known, but I can foresee that this series will be all encompassing and I for one can’t wait for the journey😇
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️
I absolutely loved this book!!! Definitely had enemies to lovers vibes, and I love that! The FMC was a total badass, snarky, and strong. I loved the banter between MMC and FMC. It is a bit of a slow burn, which killed my lady bits, but my heart was fully invested, so I hardly noticed because there was heat, tension, angst, and anticipation. The start of this couples' journey was so good, the world building, the suspense, and the drama/action And we can't forget the supporting characters, I absolutely love Felix, Ness, Penny, and Drew.. don't even get me started on the delicious hunk that is Zane. This book is definitely worth the read, I can't wait for more from this author. I definitely need more after all the twists and turns and surprise bombs that were dropped toward the end!! I definitely recommend this book! I can't wait to see what the next book brings. All the stars from me!!
Engaging, fun and fast paced. This has elements of mystery with strange deaths occuring, action with hellbeast fights and trials, and slow burn enemies to lovers sassy romance. Marik describes Ryn perfectly: "this woman was a confusing dichotomy of sass, power and intelligence", she kicks ass and has the potential for so much more. This was a refreshing take on angels, demons, sins and virtues, and I'm looking forward to see what's next for Ryn, Marik and their friends.
Felt that the beginning was very confusing. I found myself having to frequently pause reading to recap the earlier chapters in order to web together all the virtues, sins, etc. Could be a lacking fluidity or potentially that it was so much information I personally was having difficulty keeping straight? Overall loved the story line and characters! Events that occurred and conversations which took place have my mind spinning with what could happen. Can’t wait to read the next books in the series when released!
This is book one in the Sanctuarium Saga. It’s a slow burn paranormal fantasy romance. Its main male character is an alpha antihero with serious touch her and die possessiveness toward his fated love. This book has a strong, well-developed and an interesting story line with twists and unexpected turns that keep you reading and turning the pages. It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention. Amazing world building that is detailed and imaginative. Strong, interesting, and fascinating characters that are well developed and diverse. This is a fast-paced intriguing read!
This book has such potential but I found it needed more work for me personally. I really found it very disjointed and hard to follow. I found myself going over the texts again to try and assertain what was occurring throughout the book. By 80% point it flowed much more fluidly. The premise of the book was good but I never truly felt submerged in the story. This is all my personal opinions and someone else may love the writing style.
I was fortunate to recieve this as an Arc. Wraths Call was an enjoyable book that I didn't want to put down. It was a nice read with likeable characters. The storyline kept me intrigued and I was dissapointed when I got to the final page because there wasn't more. I cannot wait for the next installment to see what the future holds for Ryn
I saw some reviews that said the story was confusing at first so I thought I was prepared. Definitely confused and not sure if this world building is for me.
From the blurb, I thought a healer heading to breeding camps was as a midwife... nope. Seems more like they train these interns then sell them into sexual slavery and breeding... wtaf?? Too creepy for me.
Truly needs an editor lots of grammatical issues…use of Plain versus Plane, to versus too and so on..the treatment of Penny after being accused of crime was totally unnecessary…and of course no justice for her…overall story was good, keeping track of the sins was a little confusing at first. Needs some polish hopefully book 2 will improve on the grammatical issues.
This was a good start to the series. Good world building. Some things were overly described and I had to keep going back and rereading it. But once I got about 30% in I was hooked and quickly read through the rest. Interested to see where the story goes.
Okie I stopped on this for the fabulos cover and stayed for the wicked read it's soo good I loved Kate's style and this is going to be a wicked story!!
I recieved this as an Arc Review and it did not dissapoint!
I love a MC with an attitude, there was never a boring moment. Fast Paced with good world building. Some parts I did have to re-read but never so often that it took away from the story. The prologue was one part where I had to reread but the first chapter had me hooked after that!
Loved the slow-burn and the tension. Marik and Aeryn have my heart. I'm a sucker for these types of stories and can't wait for the next book!
If you are looking for a Romantasy that has a sassy MC and a touch her you die trope then pick up the book like yesterday!
