Clearly written and organized, covering many types of research, most of which I don't care about. I was disappointed by the lack of much on how to increase literacy at the population level.
This books is an excellent resource for any graduate or doctoral student who is interested in literacy or curriculum and instruction. The chapters run the gamut from quantitative methods to qualitative and mix methods in between.
The chapters are written by experts in the field and are heavy on both theory as well as practical methods to put into practice in your research.
I have found myself reaching for this book nearly as much as any other as I write. I just wish I had found this earlier on in my doctoral studies!
An excellent survey of methodologies, best practices within them, and their strengths and limitations. Very useful even for people outside the field of literacy.
