I read Rebecca's Numbers Game awhile ago and was delighted that she continued with a story that takes place a couple generations later. Numbers Ascending is the story of Legacy Hawking, the granddaughter of Treena Hawking, the main heroine in the first Saga. While Numbers Ascending is a standalone story, it is nice to see what happened to Treena, Vance, and all the struggles they went through to form a new world of sorts.

In Numbers Ascending, we follow the life of Legacy, a freshly, graduated from college 18 year old who is trying to make a path in her own future. Striving to prove herself on her own accord, her past and present are still at cross with each other. With an overbearing father, who is the leader of the new order, and a brother who has drifted apart from her, Legacy seeks to find a balance somewhere. But always lingering in her mind are doubts of her mother's death and whether she should continue with her mother's path before her death or fall in line like a good little girl to her father's wishes.

Numbers Ascending gripped me from the beginning, with a very steady pacing that led me from each point to another. I truly appreciate an author who does plot pacing very well and Rebecca has excelled again with Numbers Ascending.

In Numbers Ascending there is inevitably a reluctant hero and a plot so twisted that I'm desperately waiting for book 2. You can't help but root for Legacy and her friends although there were some incidences that made me wonder who could really be trusted. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but there are some instances in the story that had me flipping the pages so quickly on my tablet while biting my nails at the same time!

There are mystery and family issues. And there is most definitely a conflicted hero who has to choose his own path. There is a slow burn romance to the story but not one that makes you roll your eyes at the cliche. I particularly wanted to know what happened years before with Kole, Legacy, and their friend Milian.

Numbers Ascending is a wonderful read. Again, great pacing, steady plotlines, and characters that you either root for or wish they'd fall off a cliff.

Thanks Rebecca for the chance to read your new series!

Legacy Hawking, the daughter of the country's leader, is not thrilled about the Dedication Day. Will she accept her dad's job proposition, or will she follow in her late mother's footsteps? Little does she know that her final decision will turn her world upside down.

Having enjoyed the Numbers Trilogy, I was curious about this new follow up series. The story follows Legacy Hawking, Treena's granddaughter, as she reaches the age when she needs to decide about her future.
The other point of view is that of Kole, a member of the anti-government rebel group.
While it was good to learn what happened to Treena and Vance and what changes their country had undergone in the years following The Numbers Trilogy, I found this book disappointing.
The story was very slow and uneventful, and it didn't grip me until over halfway through. The plot was interesting, and I enjoyed the second half of the book, so I will definitely read the rest of the series.
This book read well as a stand-alone novel/series, but I recommend you read the Numbers Trilogy first.
Overall, I give it 3 stars.

I was so excited to visit the new NORA. I loved the Numbers Game trilogy and Numbers Ascending did not disappoint. I like the idea of seeing what happens after the happily ever after. When a corrupt system is brought down does the world suddenly become a perfect place? Do the good guys always have the perfect solution? Treena and Vance were amazing in the original series and I enjoyed getting a glimpse of where life took them. I’m looking forward to reading more about their granddaughter, Legacy. She is a fierce young woman just like her grandmother. Kole captured my heart immediately and I can’t wait to see the evolution of his character. So far, I’m very happy with this addition to the Numbers world. I recommend it and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next.

This is a strong 3.5-star book. I really love the characters Rebecca Rode has given us in the Numbers books. What holds me back from 4 stars is the world she's placed them in. Her characters are bright spots in a horrific world (or maybe I should say worlds, because there is a significant difference in time between this book and the previous ones in this world, enough that while there is common geography and history, this feels as much a different world in the same way that reality's 2021 feels like a different world from 1921).

What really pushes me to add that extra half-star over 3 is that I know I want to read the next book: there is no will-I-or-won't-I about it. Which tells me something, despite my wish that the world of these books wasn't quite so pessimistic.

Wow I really loved this book! This new series is a must-read if you've previously read Numbers Game. If not, I highly recommend reading Numbers Game first before starting this book.

I'm actually really pleasantly surprised. Usually spin-offs are not as good as the original books, but I enjoyed this book even a little more than Numbers Game! The main character Legacy is so amazing. Smart, resourceful, and witty. Never a dull moment with her! And I really like Kole as well. A boy with flaws and a heart is always preferable. :) The book was exciting, fast-paced, and realistic. I loved it and I can't wait to read the next one!

Loved the book. I loved the original Numbers cast was sad to bid them goodbye at the end of the trilogy. This one begins in an unexpected way and catches readers up later in the casts' lives--and with their own set of problems to solve. It has everything a good book needs: awesome characters--both good and bad, a great plot (who's really trying to take over the New NORA?) and why, a sweet romance, and a nice little surprise near the end. I love Rebecca's books and she's a great person too. Don't hesitate. Get a copy now! You'll love it.

I enjoyed coming back to the Numbers universe. It was fun to see snippets of previous characters, but I think it picks up great at 2 generations later. It's an interesting plot, and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens.

More NORA but newer. ;)

If you’re expecting Treena as leader…well kinda but missing a “chapter” and some interesting twists. I enjoyed it and look forward to reading the conclusion at some point.

Really good

What a great addition to the Numbers Game series. Even though it has been a while since the last book this continuation seemed to flow flawlessly. This is definitely not a stand alone book though.
