A Grumpy Farmer. A Spirited Nurse. A Raging Storm.
A storm wreaks havoc on our small town of Oak Glen. Hunter, the dedicated single father and volunteer, battles the elements with determination. When a crucial tip comes my way, I brave the storm to find him.
We're thrown together, awaiting the storm's lull. Without warning sparks ignite in unexpected places. Beneath his tough exterior lies a man worth uncovering. His protective instincts stir a warmth in my heart. A feeling I thought I'd lost forever.
I vowed to never let a man close enough to hurt me or my daughters again. Now I stand at a crossroads, torn between a safe life and an uncertain love. A choice that could change everything.
Falling For The Grumpy Farmer. When the storm of the century hits the little town of Oak Glen can a single mom and a widower dad helping to find another family's children bring them together? Both have known each other since school, but for some reason they seem to bicker if they evan talk at all. When they find the children and trees are calling and the storm is beating itself all around, will they be able to stay pinned down in the damaged fort until help can come? Charlotte is being the calm head while Hunter is anxious about how they will get out. She is doing everything she can to stop Hayley's foot from bleeding while Liam and Ryan is sitting with Hunter. During all this time, Ned, Hunter's dad is at the shelter watching after Hunter's two kids and Charlotte's two kids. If these couple of days together in the shelter does not become the life changing experience that Charlotte and Hunter is feeling, what a shame it will be for such a good match, or so Ned thinks.
It was a very sweet book. I liked the fact that they did not jump to romance so quickly, they had "emotional problems" and needed to resolve them first while trying to be a family. Charlotte was headstrong, loved that, and respect Hunter's decision to pull away even knowing it would hurt. She let him came back to her in his own rhythm, didn't push him at all, she did good. Hunter had some reservations, which were understandable, but in the end, he didn't want to be without the woman he loved so he went and got her. I loved their little blended family, they were adorable
This is a superb story. Good build up between the characters working towards them having to work together to trap three children stuck out in the storm and trapped after a tree fell on their father. Their own children cared for at a makeshift shelter by Hunter’s father . Charlotte is a nurse and Hunter the grumpy farmer who is on the emergency rescue team when there’s a storm alert situation. Their close proximity and the danger plays with their usual animosity towards each other and twists it ever so subtly to create a crescendo of realisation that they care for one another….This is a pure, sweet immersive story. I was hooked from the beginning and compelled to keep pageturning to completion . Very good writing style . Characters adorable , descriptions sublime.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is an easy, page-turning story that I completed in less than a day. A town is celebrating Heritage Days as a fierce storm quickly blows in and the people pull together to get everyone to safety. A man had a tree fall on him and the wife goes with him to get medical treatment leaving the 3 kids at home. When the kids do not show up at the shelter a grumpy farmer named Hunter insists on going out to find them. Nurse Charlotte learns that the kids are in a shed behind their house and heads off to aid Hunter in finding them. They find the kids and all 5 are now trapped in the shed by the fierce storm bearing down on them. A break in the storm allows them to get out and rescuers help get them to safety. Both Charlotte and Hunter were close enough in the shed to realize they have feelings for each other and later cannot deny these feelings. Their friends and family in the community join together in encouraging them to be together.
I received this free ARC book and am leaving an honest review of the book.
An enjoyable story, featuring divorcee, Charlotte and widower, Hunter, both of whom are reluctant to trust their instincts in order to embrace a new relationship, find themselves at loggerheads at each incidental encounter. An unexpected weather crisis during the town’s Heritage Day Festival sees residents uniting to take cover. The heroic actions of the two main protagonists during the tornado, result in a change of attitude and perception, yet there is still a degree of reservation in taking the next step in a potential liaison. Their children, and Hunter’s dad, Ned, however, have other ideas… This is a good novella to read during a relaxing afternoon. The author’s writing style and the pace of the plot holds the reader’s interest from beginning to end. I received a free review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion, while also apologising to Hazel for the delayed review.
This book of second chances is different - they both were married before, and had not had any romance or feelings between them in the past, although in a small town they knew each other and had gone to school together. Both had two children they were raising alone and had things in their pasts to overcome. They had some animosity when they were thrust into a rescue situation and had to overcome that, too. I enjoyed this story and the only problem I had were a few awkward sentences which are always a little annoying to me. I received this ARC and this is my honest review. Thank you for the opportunity, Hazel Belle.
Love nos no bounds, Hunter is a local farmer and Charlotte is the local nurse. A storm occurs in the town, and everyone bands together. However during the storm three children got trapped and hunter and Charlotte go out into the weather to find them. During which they find that they are attracted to one another. Though both of them push down the feelings. This was a nice story , filled with overcoming feelings of loss and betrayal. To arrive at the point where they realise they love one another.
This story of romance was so great. The characters were believe-able, and so loveable. Hunter has lost his high school love and Charlotte has been divorced. Charlotte and her two girls and Hunter and his two kids go through a severe storm in their town. The two families weather the storm together. Will this change the friction that seems to be around when Hunter and Charlotte are around each other? Find out.
Super cute clean romance featuring grumpy farmer Hunter and nurse Charlotte. Both are single parents and have to work together to rescue some children who are trapped after a storm. Afterword, neither resists the pull the they have between them. I didn't find Hunter all that grumpy; he just was stern when he needed to be in order to get things done appropriately. Charlotte is really sweet, though, so it's easy to see why he would fall for her.
It's a 2.5 star for me. It is a clean romance. I just had a hard time believing some of the dialogue between Hunter and Charlotte. They fall in love almost instantly for very minimal reasons but then spend the next 18 months in therapy to make sure they have a strong bond. It just didn't sit well with me. I'll read the next book in the series because I have it, but I would not continue the series otherwise.
Wonderful sweet story about a second chance at love between two strong independent people. A storm brings two lonely people together and after some struggles their two families become one!! This is my first time reading anything by Hazel Belle, but it won’t be the last. Keep up the great writing and thank you for sharing your talent with us.
This book is one of the best I have read lately and the first by Hazel Belle! The characters are good and relatable, the story is engaging and I didn’t want to put it down. But my favorite part was it is sweet and clean! Thank you Hazel, I can’t wait to read the next one and any more from you!
I found this second chance love story to be a delightful read. I read it in one night because I did not want to put it down. It held just enough ad e ture to keep You wondering how it would turn out. I loved the family involvement and the wholesomeness to the story.
Romance, danger, humor, what more could you want in a book. Hazel Belle gives all that and more. Living in tornado alley I know the damage and destruction high winds bring. We can feel Charlotte and Hunter fear, their attraction and their determination to ignore that attraction. Guess what, this is a romance, they don’t stand a chance.
It was a little slow during the first chapter but after that the dam broke loose. Sadness, anger, funny, and heartfelt all wrapped up by one tremendous storm. Grandpa Ned has to be the cutest thing in this story.
Charlotte was devorced with two daughters. She lives in a small town.in winter she works nurse in school and in hospital on summer time.there was a big storm and the people in town have to leave the house because of the storm.they went in shelters there’s a family with 3 children that stuck near their house. Hunter is a widower with two kids he s a grumpy when it’s comes to women. They went together to save the kids. read it you will not regret. It s a lovely story I really enjoyed reading it.
Aww omg this book was such a cute, short novella. I love the main characters and the found family trope. And I loved the ending. Overall a really sweet, heartwarming book. Totally recommend. 🤭🤭💘💘💕
Great story line. I enjoyed all the characters that make up the family. Story was genuine and believable from the start I did appreciate their pledge to wait until they were official.
Really enjoyed reading this story and the characters were good. Great second chance romance journey learning to heal grief and hurt them move on to happier times.
For a novella, it had surprisingly well-developed characters, plot, and action. Clean, sweet, slow-burn romance. Lots of tension. Charlotte's reaction to her ex showing up was satisfying.
This book was cute! It was a cute and clean romance that was easy to digest.
Though, I felt like it wasn’t long enough to truly get to know the characters. So they kind of fell flat for me. They were very one dimensional and didn’t have many character traits other than being single parents and rescue workers. I also felt like there wasn’t any tension built between the characters how there normally is in a grumpy vs. sunshine romance book. It didn’t really reflect that trope in my opinion. I didn’t find Hunter to be overly grumpy and Charlotte didn’t really have to win him over.
I also thought that the first part of the book where they were trapped and needing to be rescued went on for way too long. I was so bored of that scene and I don’t feel like it added much to the book, for it to be as long was it was. It wasn’t filled with romantic tension or anything. The characters were just annoyed with each other and it had be questioning if they were going to be the ones to get together or not.
Charlotte is a divorced mother of two daughters. Hunter is a widower with a son and daughter. They've known each other since high school but have barely spoken to each other. Will it take a storm of historical proportions and lost kids to trap them together long enough to break down their walls? What happens when her ex hears about the storm? When fear kicks in will they run away from or towards each other?
