The former SEAL’s new mission has a serious perk—a fake date with a beautiful stranger. Unraveling the lies surrounding her life? That’s where things get lethally dangerous.

Justin 'Dozer' Roark didn’t expect to need a fake date for his first civilian security mission. He would quickly flip you off if you told him he’d fall for the cocktail waitress he paid to help him.

He wasn’t in the market for love. Ever. His heart was locked down behind a shield of dark emotional scars from his past.

When McKenzie Rush’s father died in an accident, her life was shattered. Desperation landed her far from Alaska and thrust her into an abuser's hands. Climbing out of his cruel web and getting back to life as a homesteader seemed impossible.

The second Dozer realizes the dire situation McKenzie’s in, his mission focus shifts to doing anything he can to keep her safe.

That means uncovering the dangerous secrets that surround her, and if he gets his way, showing her that love isn’t always based on lies.

Fans of Brittney Sahin, Jane Blythe, Riley Edwards, and Susan Stoker can find their new binge-worthy-addiction with the Agile Security & Rescue Series.

Start reading this sizzling fake date protective hero suspense romance today! HEA. No cheating, no cliffhangers. Written in first person.

Dangerous heat. Unforgettable heroes. Sizzling happy-ever-afters.

Thanks so much for checking out my bio. I'm Jenna Gunn, author of over 25 romance novels including multiple best selling titles.

My passion is writing thrilling action, high heat, suspense and rescuer romance books with fun and unexpected plot twists.

I love deep characters who overcome pain, mistrust, and damaged pasts to find their way alongside the mate of their dreams.

The men and women in my books have flaws, heart, fears and passion, just like we do—layers that make them slip into your heart.

All of my books are first person and include two Point of View. I mainly write MF contemporary romance, but have written MFM menage. It was super fun to write with three POVs.

Many books are in a series so you get to know the families, (5 brothers in the Archer Brothers Series, 5 brothers in The Eden Mountain Firefighters, and Teammates in the Agile Security and Rescue Series). All of the books are standalone and can be enjoyed that way too.

I've accomplished my dream as an author when my reader can drop into a book and forget the rest of the world.

In addition to dreaming up delicious heroes, I'm an avid to traveler, surfer, snow skier, and water lover. I'm known to spend long periods on the road with the husband and our pup in our camper van where I always pick up inspiration for my next book. Jenna Gunn has added another sexy, high-heat suspense and rescuer romance to her collection with this story featuring former SEAL Justin “Dozer” and beautiful but strong McKenzie “Candy”. These two amazing characters have such depth and substance. Jenna skillfully captures the reader’s attention with emotion, suspense, danger, mystery, and surprise twists. The ending is packed with multiple shocking revelations!!

Readers familiar with Jenna Gunn’s books will get to catch up with characters from not just her Eden Mountain Firefighters series, but also a few from the previous books in the Agile Security & Rescue series.

In the following excerpt you can get a feel of just what kind of man Dozer is:
“Babe, I’m the kind of man that won’t let you fight your battle alone. The kind that will go to the ends of the earth to keep the people he cares about safe. The kind of man that loves hard whether you’re my brother, my friend, or my everything.”

Forget Prince Charming---spend your time reading and fantasizing about these brooding bodyguard rescuers! If you love reading about strong, alpha, loyal, protective, gorgeous, heroic men who will do anything for the women they love, then you will enjoy not only this book but all the books in this series.

Jenna Gunn takes us back to the Agile Security and Rescue Team with a high-energy, super-hot new book.

This latest book is about Justin (Dozer) and McKenzie (Candy) who we first met in Guarding Secrets. Dozer is a former SEAL who lives with his own demons. Candy is a down on her luck woman who is not prepared for life in a big city after being raised in the wilds of Alaska.

Their adventure takes so many twists and turns. It's emotional and heartbreaking at times. It took me places I wasn't expecting. The plot is complex and the characters are artfully developed.

I enjoyed the cameos from the Eden Mountain Firefighters series. I highly recommend that series also.

Enh...

Too much sex, not enough character development. Too much action, not enough real plot. No thanks.

I love rom-coms, romance novels, and love stories. So I read a lot of them. This is great fun for me, but it means that my personal "market" is oversaturated. It will take a truly great romance to get more than three stars. In case you are interested:

Relyn's personal rom-com & romance novel rating system
5 stars - This book is excellent. It stands out from the hundreds of other love stories I've read, and I loved it.
4 stars - Oh, I really, really liked this one.
3 stars - This was a good, entertaining book and I'm glad I read it.
2 stars - Meh - boring, or overdone, or in some other way just not a good fit for me
1 star - This one stunk.

soooo why did he need to go to a nudist resort? why didn’t mckenzie question her father’s alleged death before fleeing alaska? why did she settle for a shitty living situation and a job at a strip club? why did the main characters continue to call one another by their fake names/nicknames? why did she give up everything to care for her abusive father? why didn’t she have a fucking bank account? why didn’t we get an explanation as to why she was kidnapped and raised by this uncle of hers? why did the whole agile team put all of their resources into this random chick’s case? why why why why why why why

This book has you hopping right off the bat. Justin 'Dozer' Roark’s handle suits him just fine. He is like a bull-”dozer” and as big, too. So, when he lands in the seat across from, McKenzie “Candy” Rush she tries not to show fear. He offers her a shake, under the pretense that, Beth made, too much when making his shake. So, Beth said to give it to her. She was caught off guard but, took it gladly. Right away, she starts getting ready to leave, he starts talking faster asking why she’s leaving, and does she have to leave so soon?

Candy explains she needs to get to work. She works close by at a gentleman’s club, but truly it's a dive. She hates it. When her father passed away in, Alaska in a freak hunting accident, she called her dad’s old service, SEAL buddy, and told him what happened. He said he would send her the money for a ticket to, California, she would have a place to live and a roof over her head. To her after what she had lived through for the last twenty-four years seemed like a dream.

Until, the reality of who her father was, and his friend wasn’t any better. So, much for, the SEAL code or all that talk. She went from one nightmare to another. Now, Dozer needed her help for his very first civilian mission. What he needs from this naive girl from the backcountry of, Alaska is for her to be his fake girlfriend. She knows there has to be a catch. Why would someone pay $10,000, and not expect sex that weekend? Something is off he is not telling her something she can feel it. She agrees but knows there is more to come.

When he takes her to get her things he knows she is never going back. He finds there is this protective seed that started growing at the club. When the owner came in looking for her blood, Dozer set him straight. But, now the so-called apartment he owns, which he charges her for is horrific. She has no food to speak of, and nothing to show for what she has to endure, from him. Nope, she is never returning to that place. He will set her up. The mission goes south, and she must go into hiding, with part of the team.

This book has so many twists and turns to keep you engaged with the characters. The mission, back stories, and the future move fast, and I loved every moment. I loved watching both characters going through their individual growth, as well as together as a couple. They never forget to take time, to stop and remember where they come from, and what they want their futures to look like. And there is a whole lot of loving, LOL!

Dozer needs a woman to be his companion at a resort and time is running out to find someone. When he meets Candy, he decides she's perfect but not for the job, for him. Candy is in trouble. She thought she was going to California to find help but now her life is a mess and she's starting to feel like she can't dig herself out. Dozer's offer seems too good to be true but she wants to help. The two of them quickly realize that there might be more than just attraction between them.

Dozer is almost too good to be true. I mean he is seriously perfect. His one major flaw is thinking her is broken so he doesn't communicate well. Candy has a tough backstory, but it has made her strong and resilient albeit a bit naive. Together they are really sweet, and I was rooting for them to work through their issues. At one point Dozer is very brave and reveals his issues to Candy. I thought that was a really touching moment in the story.
I thought the "bad guy" was creative. The author went in a direction I didn't see coming.

I had some issues with this story. One of the biggest was that Marshall left Dannee to help Dozer with Candy. I just cannot reconcile Marshall leaving Dannee alone for even a minute after what happened to her. I sort of expected that Dannee would be with him during the mission so she could spend time with Candy. I also felt like this story had too much. The author kept throwing stuff into the mix and it felt cluttered. I can accept a bit of it because this story overlaps a prior story and so it didn't feel as focused as some of the prior stories.

This is a contemporary romantic suspense story set in multiple settings from California to Alaska. Dozer is a fully formed character with a career and personal history. Candy is an adult, but her backstory makes her more incomplete. Both characters experience personal growth due to the events in the story. I am a fan of the author so I gave this four stars where I might normally have given it three. I will read more from this author in the future.

Talk about enthralling! Right from the first page to the last, I was drawn into the lives of Candy (McKenzie) and Dozer (Justin). Dozer lives up to his name by pushing his way into Candy’s life, staging a rescue of sorts and then drawing her into a situation that is somehow both embarrassing and liberating. Candy can’t help but want to follow the big, brawny and charming ex-SEAL who acts like a gentleman and treats her like she is precious to him. At first, Dozer is looking to use Candy as a cover for an assignment for his new job at Agile Security & Rescue. Then he discovers how she has been living and working. He refuses to leave her in that situation, no matter whether she agrees to help him with his assignment or not. Dozer is bowled over not only by her beauty, but also by her courage in the face of a new challenge. Then all hell breaks loose and Dozer refuses to leave Candy behind. As the team works to recover a kidnapped client, Candy is absorbed into Agile family, befriended by the women who now part of the lives of his teammates, and given a glimpse of what a family is supposed to be. Just as one mission is complete and Dozer and Candy get a chance for alone time and getting to know each other much more intimately, they are hit with a bombshell. She is wanted for murder in her home state of Alaska. The rest of their story is as gripping as the first part, but with a few shocking twists, dangerous incidents and a whole lot of sizzle and steam between them. Dozer’s new mission is to keep Candy safe at all costs and claim her for his own.

Ever girl should have a Justin Roark in her life, Jenna Gunn has introduced another great character into the Agile Security and Rescue team.
Six foot five, ruggedly handsome Justin Roark, alias Dozer, an ex navy SEAL is looking at the most beautiful girl that he has ever seen, she was wearing a skimpy top, a skirt that covered very little and stupid pink and silver platform shoes, the uniform of the Pink Parlour strip club, she also looked half starved but there was an innocent naivety about her, would the money he offered tempt her to help him on a job?
McKenzie Rush, known as Candy, should never have come to California, she has spent her whole life in the secluded mountains of Alaska caring for her ex SEAL father before he died, she didn't know how to live in the real world, she had no money, not even a bank account or a mobile phone but this stranger was throwing her a lifeline, should she take it ?
Dozer's protective instincts were immediately in full drive, especially when he saw the bruises on her arms.
This is Candy and Dozer's story, the chemistry between them was off the scale, the journey they would take would be dangerous but Dozer would be with her every step of the way.
Candy's life was to be more entwined in the Agile teams mission than she could ever have imagines, the road was tough and it twisted and turned, there was suspense, there was action but most of all there was a passion that neither of them had ever experienced. An enjoyable read, it was lovely to be reacquainted with characters from previous books in the series, I now look forward to reading Becketts story.

4.5⭐|4🌶|3🥵

I got an ARC copy of this book to write an honest review.

Dozer just left the SEALs and started at Agile Security & Rescue. It's his first job and he needs a woman for it. His best friend isn't available but she knows someone. And when he sees Candy all the sparkling are flying. It's incredible. He just could ... Girls, I think you know what I mean 😉 But it's not just that his 🍆 wants her, no he feels that there is more. He wants her completely. He can't think of anything else. And that's when the story gets a little "complicated", then for his job at Agile he needs to be naked, him and his female partner... 😎 And yes it gets funny when his 🍆 still has his own mind... 🤣
I haven't read the other books of this series, so I missed a few little things, nothing necessary but I think you should read the other books first. And if you can, you should also read the "Eden Mountain Firefighters" before. It was so cute when they had to flee San Diego and got to the Strong farm 😍 Yes, yes, yes. Most of the characters of the series appear in his book. And I really love Nolene Strong. She is sooooo cute. I already bought her book and will read it soon. And sure, I'll read the rest of this series too 😁
But back to his book... It's happening so much more and had a huge plot twist 😱 You never get bored with Jenna's books.
Btw I NEED a book about Medeline and Agent Beckett!!!! Plz Jenna 😍

Tantalizing, exciting, dangerous and delicious page-turner.

Dangerous Secrets is part of the Agile Security and Rescue series but can be read as a standalone.
Former Navy SEAL Justin 'Dozer' Roark is on his first assignment working for Agile Security & Rescue Team and needs to find a fake date. What he never expected was a beautiful, innocent but haunted woman that he couldn't stop thinking about.
McKenzie "Candy" Rush life was turned upside down when her father was killed in a hunting accident near their home in Alaska. Desperate she reaches out to the only person her father ever mentioned far away in San Diego. Now she's trapped in the hands of an abuser with no way out. That is until a tall, dangerous-eyed, ripped, gorgeous, massive man walks into her life offering her a way out.

Their story is action packed, suspensefilled, dangerous and intriguing with twists, turns and secrets along the way all the while a budding passionate romance is beginning. The secondary characters were funny, intelligent, intense, personable and contributed to the flow of the storyline.

I received a free ARC through Booksprout an I'm voluntarily leaving my review.

The first part of this book briefly, and without much detail, covers events from the previous book of the series that Dozer and McKenzie aka Candy took part in. If you haven't read Guarding Secrets it's a great story and I highly recommend it. This book is Dozer and McKenzie's complete story, from the beginning.

Dozer is on his first mission with Agile Security & Rescue and needs a fake date. Pinched for time and instantly smitten, he convinces strip club waitress "Candy" to help him out for which she will receive a generous paycheck. McKenzie is down on her luck and in a bad situation and the money means a chance for a better life. Dozer, however, has no intention of letting McKenzie go after their fake date is over and he is right by her side when McKenzie's past comes back to haunt her, turning her world upside down.

Dangerous Secrets is a compelling, steamy, romantic suspense story. The characters have fantastic chemistry and I really cared about them. This writing is great and I couldn't put this book down. I loved it.

What a rush from beginning to a very exciting end! Justin “Dozer” Roark, former SEAL has joined Agile Security and Rescue. His first mission is an undercover assignment at a nudist resort and he must bring a significant other. When his close friend is unable to help, she mentions someone else who might be available. Arriving at the café, he meets Candy, she is beautiful and obviously in need of money. Candy aka McKenzie Rush has recently arrived from Alaska after the death of her father. She has been working at a local bar, but the costume she has to wear and the shoes…there has to be a better way to make a living. After rescuing her from her boss and her job, Dozer offers her a large sum of money to assist him. The attraction between these two wounded souls is off the chart, but before they can examine their feelings, there will be more danger ahead. There is news about McKenzie’s father, the secrets he kept and the heartache he has caused. Twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages! This was a military romantic suspense.

This was an incredibly brilliant story. The twists and turns are completely unpredictable. The characters were well developed and their relationship was heartwarming. Highly recommend! Must read!

McKenzie Candy Rush recently lost her father to a hunting accident near their cabin in Alaska. She called his former SEAL teammate and he hired her to be a waitress in his sleazy strip club The Pink Palace in California.

Justin Dozer Roark is a former Navy SEAL and now works for Agile Security & Rescue. For his first assignment working with his boss Marshall he needs to get a female companion in order to get into a couples only nudist event at a resort. He has to go to Mexico and leaves her with Marshall and his lady Danee. Danee gets kidnapped and the Agile team bring McKenzie to Utah with them while they search for her.

They reunite after Danee is rescued and begin a relationship. She gets arrested for the murder of her father and the Agile team helps her. Through an ingenious series of events she is reunited with her family and they get their HEA.

Agile Security Heats Up Again!
“Dangerous Secrets” is the eighth book in Jenna Gunn’s Agile Security and Rescue series of romantic suspense, and I have to say that Dozer and McKenzie are now my favorite couple in the series! Justin “Dozer” Roarke—military vet and bada$$ operative—is definitely one of the good guys, and he’s got just enough of the small-town, homegrown on the ranch vibes to be all swoony and chivalrous along with the growly and protective that I love. McKenzie—or “Candy” as she is initially introduced—is a beauty with a heart of gold and a spine of steel that she doesn’t even know she possesses. This girl is a SURVIVOR, and she’s the perfect complement to Dozer on their twisty road to an HEA (all while dealing with some danger and suspense that had me turning the pages as quickly as possible). Steamy chemistry: check. Action: double check. Super-swoony book boyfriend we wish was real: TRIPLE CHECK! Love this new addition to a series I can read and reread over and over!

Jenna Gunn’s ‘Dangerous Secrets’ is the 8th book in this series and it’s a slow burn but intensely hot. Dozer (Justin) is a former SEAL, a hugely gorgeous man, protective, and has a sexy rumbling voice. Candy (MacKenzie) is struggling: new location with little money, horrible boss and job, and barely tolerable living conditions. He recruits her for a part in an operation, but has mixed emotions about how she’ll react. She seems innocent and the more they interact the more he’s attracted to her.

Jenna has such a great writing style: her characters sizzle, have great personalities, and the dialogue develops beautifully. There’s action, danger, betrayal, and huge surprises that hurt and heal. Justin and MacKenzie are passionate, steamy, and loving with the best sex scenes. He’s so supportive and patient while she’s open, responsive, and equally passionate. I love the family vibes, seeing the Strongs, and Agile family! The ending is heartwarming!.

This book is definitely in competition for m favorite of the Agile Security series. The first part of the book reveals how Dozer meets Candy and the end up at the nudist event with Marshall and Danee. Talk about shock when you find out the job you've just accepted requires you to be naked. But for Candy anything is a step above her current position at a strip club. For Dozer, he instantly captivated by Candy and as a highly trained observer he knows there's a lot more to her story than what she's letting on. The more he's with her the more he wants her. Candy AKA McKenzie has never felt as safe and cared for as she does with Dozer and figures it's too good to last. Not if he has his way. There are lots of, surprises, twists and turns in the second half of the book as this duo and the Agile team travels to Alaska to deal with her father's death. It's suspenseful, dangerous and has some great action. Proving his woman's innocence is all that matters to Dozer. The outcome is interesting and delightful for both of them.

You have no idea how excited I was about this book! We met Dozer and “Candy” McKenzie in Marshall and Danee’s book and to say I was intrigued with these two would be putting it mildly. Love that the Agile Security & Rescue Series is continuing…such an amazing series…and to continue it with Dozer and Mac is even better. Thrilled that we now have their story, and it’s a doozy! Dozer is a great addition to the Agile family. He’s tough, determined and loyal and just a great guy. McKenzie is just as tough and loyal but she’s also alone and uncertain of her future. Dozer and the Agile team and their extended family and friends are just what she needs. Love that we get to visit with characters from previous books. To watch them rally around McKenzie and pull her into the fold, when she literally has no one, is heartwarming. Great job, Ms. Gunn, these two have quickly shifted to one of my favorite couples.

You don’t just read this book, you feel it. Brilliant. Suspenseful. Romantic. Dangerous. Magnificent. McKenzie finds a gorgeous, muscled, protective seal who wants her more than life. OMG! Caveman seal to the rescue. Be still my heart. Dozer is hard as a rock on the outside, but squishy and gooey on the inside enough to make you melt. Dozer is like a candy filled lollipop waiting to get to the soft core. Every chapter brings more drama to the story and brings up more questions, but no answers. You will breathe, heavier and heavier with each chapter and each dramatic event that happens. Amazing story writing. Amazing storytelling. There’s no way you will figure this book out. How can it possibly get any worse? But it does, and they deal with it along with their team to end in a most spectacular happily ever after for everyone. I loved it.

New to the Agile Security and Rescue team, Justin ‘Dozer’ Roark needs a woman to work the first case with him and calls an old friend who can’t help but recommends McKenzie ‘Candy’ Rush, a woman down on her luck. A waitress at a cheap strip club, Dozer knows something is wrong but he doesn’t know what but when he meets her boss, Dozer knows he’ll be paying the man a visit when the current mission is done. Meanwhile, Dozer convinces Candy to work the mission with him.

The job at the resort goes sideways, and the team has a mission that can’t wait. Candy’s packed off with an Agile family and is amazed how they fold her into their lives until Dozer comes back. Recognizing it’s quick, Dozer and Candy trade tales of their pasts. It’s rainbows and unicorns until a phone call changes everything. There’s a warrant for Candy’s arrest!

More than a name

Dozer/Justin and Candy/McKenzie. Both characters were introduced in the previous book and now we get the backstory to who they are and how they met. Dozer has connections to the team and is a new hire, but McKenzie is new to the city and series. Their chemistry is there and the relationship is a slow build which I appreciated as it gave details to the other events from the previous book. The strong family and many other characters had a role as well. Once the drama was done, it quickly veered to a new problem that actively involved McKenzie and her father back in Alaska. What came about involved stolen identities, betrayal, espionage, and new found family. That was a crazy twist and I loved how detailed it was. I hope for more with her family and agent Beckett!

Loved it, loved it, loved...it. I cannot praise Jenna Gunn enough by writing this wonderful story about Dozer and Candy/McKenzie. Their chemistry fired up the pages, the drama was intense, Dozer and Candy/McKenzie were inspiring delightful characters, and the story kept me engaged till the end. Another great story in the Agile Security & Rescue. Dozer needs a plus one for a mission, so he calls his best friend, Beth, but she can't do it because she's busy with her new restaurant. Beth has a candidate in mind, a woman customer who seems to need help and needs the money that's being paid for the mission. Dozer goes to Beth's restaurant to meet her. This begins this wonderful story that I'd received a copy and volunteer to read and review.

This is a brilliant addition to this series.
Justin (Dozer) was a SEAL but now works for Agile Security and he needs a partner for his first undercover operation.
Mackenzie (Candy) is down on her luck and in desperate need of help so when Dozer asks her to help him with a job she agrees.
The chemistry between them is off the charts but neither was looking for a relationship but they can't stay away from each other.
Dozer will do anything to protect her and when danger comes for her he steps up to the plate and him and his team keep her safe.
Plenty of drama and suspense and so much emotion but also lots of love but can they get their HEA.
A must read with a brilliant ending.

Dangerous Secrets

Justin "Dozer" Roark needed a woman to act as his girlfriend on a mission he was working with his new boss. He is referred to Candy. She's not exactly who or what he was expecting. Candy is so much more than he hoped for. He immediately feels protective, and he intends to change her circumstances, for the better. After his mission is completed, they find out some shocking news concerning Rachel, aka Candy, and Dozer and his new team pull out all the stops to come to her aid. What transpires next is beyond extraordinary and could mean to end of all their dreams for a future together. Jenna has written an amazing story filled with guilt, grief, pain, embarrassment, love, steamy chemistry, betrayal, and hope.

This story has danger in every corner. Every time you think the mystery is solved, there comes another surprise. What a 20-year-long twisted plot from a crazy psychopath against unknowing blood relatives! I am so glad Dozer found Candy and stuck by her through thick and thin. Dozer’s boss and the team back them up all the way. The story goes from California to Alaska to Kansas then Montana. It takes FBI, local authorities, justice system, and Agile Security to round up a crazy and arrogant criminal. I love the sweet part of romance, comradery, family reunion, understanding and forgiveness. Life starts a fresh new page for Candy and Dozer!
