A Perfect Life throws you in headfirst. Thank God after the cliffhanger from A Perfect World!
A Perfect Life has me feeling ALL the feels. I'm angry at everything that happens to these amazing people. I'm sad and sobbing because everything is so tragic. I'm dyïng at the cliffy. I need more resolution!
The horror I felt when I realized how long the timeline has been. Absolute pure horror.
I'm in love with the characters written by Julia McColgan. They are so real and relatable. They are not perfect. They have flaws that are fully acknowledged and are actually highlighted in the books. I would adore having friends like this IRL.
We're introduced to Leslie Day in this book. He's a college art student with his own special skill set. His personality had me melting. 🫠
The banter between Leslie and Ollie made me laugh out loud more than once.
Kicking asš and taking names, Courtney and Ollie are the perfect power couple.
I'm more in love with Ollie than ever. His single minded focus on Courtney and their devotion to each other is swoon worthy.
Every person in this book was so well written. The sharpness, the pain, the humor. Every facet of who they are.
Also, Buddy. The idea of Buddy just makes me grin inside.
Julia McColgan absolutely has my heart with this series. I'm in love. I'll never get enough of all the characters.

Wow, Julia E. McColgan does it again and honestly think I may prefer this over the first. I read this as a digital ARC and I seriously finished it within 24 hours. It was so easy to read, kept my attention, and I fell in love with the characters all over again PLUS Leslie. I was seriously laughing out loud listening to the banter between Ollie and Leslie. This gives off adult Stranger Things, X-men vibes with the perfect amount of spice in between plot moving. I would totally recommend this series!

imma start by saying this book was DEF a HIT. This one kept me on my tippy toes bc of the suspense, secrets, & lies that kept being brought into the light.
Leslie & Ollie - LOVED their relationship 🤣 the Cheetos scene … OMG 😂 they had to much banter & kept teasing one another.
Ollie & Courtney … def relationship goals.
Also, fuck Carissa. Knew she was a turd nugget.
If you are looking for the stranger things vibes but w/ grown up’s, college setting, banter, spice, an evil lurking in the background, secrets, betrayal & all the fun things… pick up this series !!!!

This series is a must read
These books are so good! I cried at the end with that twist at the end of this one. Omg. I did not expect that at all and it was the best surprise ever😭 the characters in these books are so amazing and loveable. And the writing!! Ah!! Seriously, on my top favorite reads of 2024. I can't wait to read the 3rd book and any other story this author comes up with. I would say more but man, this will sit on my mind this week.

All I can say is Author Julia McColgan does it again! How does this woman write not one, but two amazing books back to back! Ooooh my "Ollie", how do I love thee, let me count the ways! And Leslie, I Love him the world! From the 1st page, Julia had me excited to turn to the next page so I could see what was going to happen. Being a massive Stranger Things Fan, this book had me not wanting it to end! This is definitely one of my favorite reads of 2023! It will also be on my re-read list! If Julia McColgan writes it, you can bet I'm gonna read it!

Obsessed. Julia's writing is very clever and beautiful. The whiplash....one second marveling at the moments of happiness and love between Ollie, Courtney, Jack, and Les. The next, I'm angry, sad, or heartbroken. The cycle just keeps repeating.
Ollie is quickly becoming one of my favorite MCs. How can one person be ferocious, deadly, terrifying, warm, gentle, loving. I mean, 🤯🤯
Courtney...what's not to love!?!? She's a perfect match for Ollie. She's fierce and terrifying in her own right. But she radiates warmth and comfort.
Truth be told, I love them all so damn much. The banter, sarcasm, and playful exchanges had me smiling and laughing out loud. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of heartache to go around.
Chapters 66 and 67....ugh. The tears wouldn't stop.

Julia has a way of making your fall in love with the characters she creates. The only problem is the tears that follow after you see what the characters go through. When an author can make me cry during a book you know it’s good writing.

The way this book had me feeling. The emotions in this book are so raw and captivating that the plot will continue to torment your mind long after you finish reading- in a good way. I screamed, cried, laughed, frowned, and got so mad I wanted to throw the book against a wall. When you feel emotions so deeply from a narrative like A Perfect Life, that is when you know you have found a 5 star read. I am so thankful and grateful to be able to have ARC read this masterpiece follow up by Julia McColgan. A Perfect World, book 1, was such an amazing read for me that I had high expectations going into book 2. It exceeded every limitation and aspiration that I had for the plot and the characters. The addition of characters to APL, especially Leslie, was so needed and flowed so well with the plot line and just gave so much dimension and perspective. My favorite characters are Ollie and Leslie. This is definitely one series that needs to be read by all, and when you read work by Julia it is so hard to believe this is her debut. She is such an uncovered diamond!

This review is coming after reading this book twice and I still don't feel my words will be adequate enough to express my love for this book and the characters that Julia McColgan has shared with us. A Perfect Life stole the rollercoaster ride of book one and drove it right off the tracks. The characters are flawed, but so beautifully wonderful and will steal your heart. I have gotten teary eyed while reading before, but when I tell you that the waterfall of tears I had while reading this book were running down my face, I mean it. The agony these characters have had to experience and their undeniable chemistry is insane. Their journey pulls at every heartstring and will make you feel so many different emotions, good and bad. I can only imagine how intense the rest of the series will be.
Julia really stepped it up for this one and shows immense growth from book one. The sky is the limit for this newer author.

**Spoiler-free-ish Review!**
First off, if you are a fan of Stranger Things and the dark fantasy/paranormal romance genre, you will like this book/series. Secondly, I recommend you read the first book in the series prior to reading this one as the second book is a continuation of the story in the first. Thirdly, because this book is a bit dark, please check your TWs. Overall, I thought this was a fun read and enjoyed reading the book. I am glad I took my time reading it over the course of a few days to truly savor the book and process what happens within the book because there is a lot to unpack. Also, understand that this is a novel that takes place in the modern time but it is a dark fantasy romance, so the book weaves in some realistic outcomes with unrealistic outcomes as well.
I fell in love with the cast of characters in this book/series and came to see them as family.They originally were unknowing and unwilling victims who had to suffer so much, but through the development of the story, they essentially take back their power through revenge which is amazing to me. They all have their own flaws, and are definitely morally grey/black with their thoughts/actions but as a reader, I was rooting for them to win and overcome the entire time. The introduction of a new main character at the beginning of this novel was a bit confusing to me at first but as the book unfolded, this character became an integral part to the overarching storyline and I became endeared to the character as well.The author does a great job of elevating tension (both in anger/hate and sexually) in the novel and also making me hate the "bad" people in this novel. The vibe of the main character couple is that they will burn the world down for each other and the people they love..a true power couple!
I am so invested in the story and world that the author created and hope to see more of the cast of characters in the future. The ending of this book was like a season finale to me but not a series finale, if that makes sense!
P.S. I don't want to reveal too much of the storyline but I gotta comment that the twist in chapter 65 was WOW!!!! Oh my gosh I did NOT foresee that happening... I was so shocked but I also love it!

If you are into college romance with a couple that will do everything in their power to keep their love ones safe at all cost then this book is for you. Julia has done a freaking fantastic job with book 2.
When I tell you I was a little nervous about writing my review, I am not lying. I feel like I'm not going to be able to put into words how good this book was. With A Perfect World Julia made us fall in love with Ollie and Courtney. We got to see some of the traumas they were dealing with and how that had shaped them into who they were.
Coming to the realization that their connection was beyond just coincidence and how not only their lives were connected but their friend as well. Wanting to find out about the lies and secrets they are surrounded by, danger comes knocking right at their front door and leaving you in the biggest cliffhanger EVER!
A Perfect Life picks up after a HUGE time jump. New characters are introduced and they are vital to helping Ollie in not only coming back but also getting to his main priority which is getting Courtney back safely. But this is just the tip of the iceberg. Ollie and Courtney are back for revenge, they want their happily ever after and will stop at nothing to get it.

I don’t even know where to start and this might be a long one, so I apologize in advance.
This book is everything I could want in a book and more. I read the first one when it first came out and didn’t think the second book could top it, but it exceeded all my expectations and I think I even loved it more. Actually, I did love it more. The emotions it made me feel are unmatched with any other book. It’s extremely rare when a book makes me actually laugh out loud, but I found myself laughing so much.
Any time I go into a book that touches on addiction I get worried as I’m a recovering addict, but Julia did an amazing job with it. I was worried his addiction would just be forgotten about, however, as most addicts know, it’s simply not that easy. Ollie still struggles with cravings from time to time, but is able to work through them and I was so incredibly proud of him.
I absolutely loved Leslie, he’s my new book boyfriend and I can’t wait to get more of him in book 3.
If you like dark romance and stranger things, this book is for you. I’ve been trying to support more indie authors lately instead of just reaching for just the overhyped books on tiktok. And let me just say, this series deserves ALL the hype.

Raise your hand if you feel personally victimized by Julia? *BOTH HANDS RAISED*
WHATTTT? You let me have all I want to shred it in this last 10% of the book? My soul hurts right now. This series is still gold, I have been in some deep obsession with everything needing and needing more to be still left needing more. Make me fall in love with not one but multiple main characters to then having my worried sick about what will happen and if I will get them back in the next? Ollie and Leslie are beautiful men who are healing just as beautiful even a bit crazy women.

WHATTTT? You let me have all I want to shred it in this last 10% of the book? My soul hurts right now. This series is still gold, I have been in some deep obsession with everything needing and needing more to be still left needing more. Make me fall in love with not one but multiple main characters to then having my worried sick about what will happen and if I will get them back in the next? Ollie and Leslie are beautiful men who are healing just as beautiful even a bit crazy women.

A Perfect Life by Julia McColgan is book two in The Perfect World Series. After the first book and the cliffhanger it left me on, I couldn’t wait to dig into this one. I was eagerly awaiting it; let me tell you it was one hundred percent worth the wait!!! This book was amazing and I completely fell in love with this world all over again. The writing this author does just takes your reading to a whole different level. I will mention to check your trigger warnings to be on the safe side. I devoured this book in one sitting, I couldn’t put the book down nor did I want to. I thought the first book was an emotional rollercoaster but this one, I was unprepared. These characters are written phenomenally by being flawed, real and understandable. This book shattered my heart while simultaneously gluing it back together at the same time. What these characters go through is heartbreaking but the chemistry and tension in this book is off the charts great. The writing is so well done that you feel like you're on a journey with the characters through all the good and the bad. Book two is fantastic and has introduced me to another character I’m head over heels for…Leslie Day! I will mention this book ends in a cliffhanger. I absolutely can’t wait for the next one. If Julia McColgan isn’t on your TBR, you need to add her. You won’t regret it.

If this is your first time reading my reviews, I like to read 5 chapters and the. review and repeat the process until I am done with the book.
I also like to have my favorite Actors/Actress, Broadway Actor/Actress or favorite Wrestlers as characters in my head.
With that said
I don't have clear pictures yet of all the characters expect Ollie,
I see him as Henry Winkler aka The Fonz from Happy Days.
Chapters 1-5
Not sure of the vibe I'm getting off the story just yet,but I am loving it. I love how authors give each character their POV of the story,not just one character telling the whole thing.
We have Leslie,Carissa,Henry and a surprise appearance by Ollie.I love the flashbacks from the past and I can't wait to get more details about Ollie's past as well

15 years after the fire that killed so many the rumors about Leslie’s dorm are all around him. Desperate to hide his abilities he has thrown himself into art and refusing to allow anyone to get close enough to touch his hands. After finding a journal under the carpet under his bed he is annoyed to see its blank. But within minutes he is staring a a person coming out of the journal. Turns out the fire didn’t exactly kill everyone like the world believed.
Together Leslie and Ollie form an unbreakable friendship and bond. They work together to find and rescue Courtney from the prison she has lived in and been tortured for the last decade and a half.
And now the real trouble begins when they start to seek revenge from the men responsible for their capture and “unaliving”.
I loved this book as much if not more than a perfect world. The spice is there as well as the trauma from their pasts. The tension is heavy and the cliffhanger is really really making me get excited for the next book!

I devoured the first book within a day so I was very excited to get my hands on the sequel A Perfect Life... and it did not disappoint!
McColgan has this incredible and brilliant ability to suck you into characters and make you care for them. Balancing so many different POVs whilst also telling an engrossing story is no easy task and yet it is amazingly structured and handled here.
I don't think I am alone in wanting to happily die for Leslie Day.
The building of this world is amazing and the journey is as heart-breaking as it is sexy and bloody. There are so many scenes where my mouth as AGOG!
So gripping, I actually cancelled evening plans so I can finish and I was so sad when it was over... because I wanted more.
I am still thinking about certain sequences and chapters, I don't think they'll ever leave me. A captivating series from a truly remarkable author.

This book stressed me out in the best way possible. I’ve grown very attached to the characters in A Perfect World and this book proved again why I am. All day at work i would just be worried and protective over my babies. I was a little worried Leslie wasn’t gonna grow on me because of how much the OG characters grew on me, but the way Julie wrote him in and made me instantly curious about where he would go and the depth of his growth. The only thing I wish I saw more of was Courtney’s POV toward the beginning of the story. But it didn’t deter me any less because of what was to come. Stranger Things 2.0 with the exponential amount of power we get to see. I 100% need book 3 now please and thank you.

A perfect life absolutely captivated my interest and I was so hyped after reading book one which is A perfect world to see my beautiful monster Ollie set out for revenge. I instantly fell in love with Leslie’s character and even more so after discovering his story and exploring his mind via his prospective.The dynamic between Ollie and Leslie’s relationship was a breath of fresh air to see the way they protected and cared for each other. The way Courtney and the Ollie’s relationship grew despite everything they’ve been through together after 15 years was really inspirational. I found myself also invested and loving the relationship between Leslie and Miranda. I would love to go into the red with Leslie any time. Overall i definitely recommend this book and cannot wait for the next book. What are you waiting for to go grab you a copy of this amazing book?

I don't know what I was expecting when I started this book, but it blew me away! This story starts where the first book ends and doesn't stop. I wasn't able to put this book down. The emotion, turmoil, and trauma that every character goes through grabs your attention and doesn't let go. Almost like it is demanding to be seen and felt by the reader. The connection that they all have to each other is amazing, and the lengths that they will go to protect each other draws on your emotions and makes you root for them! That cliffhanger though! I can't get it out of my head! I LOVE when the second book in a series finds its rhythm and is able to take the story and make it better and leave you wanting more!

The sequel to A Perfect World is a whirlwind of emotions. This book has happiness, friendships, found family, love, devotion, trauma, and sadness. This story starts off from the last book and a college student named Leslie brings back Ollie. It's been 15 years since Ollie died and he instantly wants to find Courtney. He feels her through the bond they have. Ollie and Leslie become fast friends. Leslie helps bring back Miranda, Jack, and Serina. When Leslie sees Miranda, he is done for. He falls first and hard. They have such good banter and chemistry. They were made for each other. Jack is as funny as I remember and his love with Serina is so adorable. I was captivated by this story from beginning to end!

Julia did it again!!
This held my attention throughout the entire book. There was never a dull moment (for me at least haha.)
This is the second book in her series and I adored this one just as much, maybe even more than the first one.
I really loved Leslie’s character. And his blooming romance with Miranda.
I can admit that I wasn’t the biggest fan of Miranda in the first book but now I definitely like her more and I hope to see more of her journey with herself as well as the relationship with Leslie.
I can’t wait to get the next one so that I won’t be left on that CLIFFHANGER. I need more!!!
Also…. FVCK CARISSA. God!!! She is so ughhhhh!!

I feel like I read this while holding my breath. It got better and better…. I cannot believe how the characters developed. It is more dark and twisted than book one but there is so much meaning behind every thing. I am emotionally invested in everyone.
I usually hate when books flip between more than two characters’ points of views but this didn’t bother me at all. The writing was so wonderful. I feel like I was in the minds of everyone.
I am very upset the next book isn’t out yet BUT I feel some peace knowing that Courtney had some visions that hadn’t come to fruition yet. I know there’s more to come for them. They all so deserve a perfect life.

Perfection despite needing the next book now lol
I love this series so much.
It's honestly not often that authors are able to catch me off guard with plot twists, but this one managed to. I audibly screamed when one smacked me upside the head like a mack truck. I'm still spinning from it.
I'm hoping the next installment is soon(I haven't seen if there's a release date set yet?). It's been a while since I've picked up an unfinished series. Especially one that has me this invested and yearning for the next one.
The plot, the story, the characters, the spice, the vibe, it's all immaculate.
I love this series so much.
