What do you do when the body bursts into flames? You cover it up.Detective Richard Rogers knew he'd finally crossed over that thin line when everyone started avoiding him at work. When he is called into the Chiefs office, he expected to be fired, or at the least, demoted and bounced back to patrol. Instead, he is given a transfer to S.P. Investigations, the mysterious department no one knows anything about. Things go from bad to worse, when he is assigned the recent series of body dumps that was plaguing Atlanta PD. There is nothing to tie them together, nothing that offered the tiniest clue to the identity of the murderer. Except they were all witches. And so is his new partner.
For the first three chapters of the book, I thought I was reading a typical police crime thriller. We had some murdered girls and detective Rick was trying to solve the mystery.
Then, BAM, out of nowhere in chapter 4, I suddenly found myself transported into a magical realm of witches and demons—and later, a talking possum!
We journey with Rick, who gets landed with Lois, a Wiccan consultant for the police, as his new partner to solve the murders. We soon learn there is more meaning to the deaths of these women than meets the eye, and the unlikely duo needs to solve this crime to prevent hell from literally breaking loose.
