Heroic black knight Lina can fell monsters and slay dragons with ease, but when it comes to romance, she’s still a total rookie! After dozens of dates ending in failure, she’s ready to give up on her quest of finding a husband, even if the idea of a family is an alluring one. The hitch? Marriage is a requirement for all black knights!

You see, the ability to use old magic—essential for safely slaying dragons—is a rare gift, so there’s staggering pressure for black knights to pass their power on to the next generation. Worse yet, Lina’s in immediate danger without a partner to bless her armor. But it’s going to take the right person...

Enter the prime minister’s aide, Joshua Granwell, a handsome and talented white mage who’s a perfect match for her mana. He’d make the ideal spouse for Lina—except she does not want to marry a noble. A contractual marriage might save Lina’s life, but surviving the marriage hereafter will be a challenge all its own!

The story revolves around Lina, a skilled black knight who's a pro in battles but struggles with matters of the heart. This story dives into Lina's romantic journey, into her dating experiences, relationships, and the obstacles she faces in her quest for love and a meaningful family life. Throughout the series, Lina's character goes through personal growth, showing resilience and dealing with the complexities of romance in a fantasy world.

Mixing fantasy adventure with romance, this light novel series offers an engaging story that attracts readers interested in both genres. With its compelling storytelling and well-developed characters, "Marriage, Divorce, and Beyond" brings a fresh perspective to the traditional knight-in-shining-armor theme, focusing on the emotional journey of its protagonist as she navigates the ups and downs of love and relationships.

In the end, the series guarantees an entertaining and heartfelt exploration of love, self-discovery, and the pursuit of happiness in a world filled with magic, monsters, and unexpected twists of fate.

When I read this story, I felt pretty confused and frustrated because of how the events were laid out. I got that the Prologue was about Lina's engagement celebration, but things started to get confusing for me in Chapter 2. It talked about Lina defeating a dragon and ending up in the hospital, but also hinted that she was already married because her mentor wondered why her gear didn't have some special magic her husband could have given her for protection against the dragon.

As I kept reading and got to Chapter 3, I found it really hard to follow along. Not understanding what was happening just kept bugging me. I had to go back and reread Chapter 2 to figure out that the scene actually happened four years and nine months after the engagement. That helped me make sense of the timeline.

Despite the confusion, one thing I did like was getting to see things from the male protagonist's perspective. It added more depth to the story and gave a different angle on what was going on.

seeing the story from the male protagonist's point of view was a good addition that made the story better.

Additionally, i liked how the tensions incorporated into the story. These conflicts and obstacles likely contribute to the overall intrigue and keep the plot engaging and dynamic. The presence of tensions has created a sense of anticipation and further enhance my investment in the characters and their journey.

Overall,I really enjoyed reading this story! In my opinion , one of its strengths lies in the well-written romantic development between the female and male protagonists. The author's ability to craft their relationship in a compelling way has resonated with me, adding depth and emotional engagement to the narrative.

the combination of well-developed romantic dynamics and the inclusion of tensions has made this story a captivating and enjoyable read for me.

The romance between the black knight Lina and the white mage Joshua does not follow the tropes entirely. After all, Lina is a female knight who fights dragons and hardly a damsel in distress and Joshua is a politician who faces few physical fights. Still, it does follow other tropes. The two get unexpectedly married, coming from very different upbringings and things don't go easily especially since those around them object. And communication is an issue as is common, although I have seen much worse uses of the trope. In the end it was a good read, especially at the start and the end. The middle part was a bit too sugary sweet for my taste, but people who like romances probably have less issues with it. So, a good read. Not sure if there will be more volumes in the future and if so what they will be about though...

excellent story

I really enjoyed this story, in fact, once I picked it up, I couldn’t quit reading it until I finished it. The characters were awesome and rich. The story was well put together if a little choppy. And this author really likes To build suspense with cliffhangers. A little jointed in the going back-and-forth on time, the story is still very compelling. I would like to see more by this author.

lacking but sincere

The storyline moves well, but I found the read lacking in depth. I wish the author would have dove beyond the surface of the characters and storyline and given us a truly meaningful story. Overall it is a good light read.

It was so good! So sweet! I loved the heroine’s pragmatic character! I loved how she retained her honesty and integrity and humility despite all the terrible things that were done to her.

This….was so stupid. The author was trying so hard to be clever, but there were so many problems with the logic of this world. Like…having old magic means you HAVE to be a black knight and fight dragons. No ifs, ands, or buts about it, that’s your life. But you also have to marry a white mage so you can produce more black knights. You know, if you survive your dragon fights. It’s an honor to be chosen by a black knight, except if she’s a commoner, in which case they will make up all kinds of lies because nobles hate commoners with a passion for no reason. Despite the fact that Joshua himself is technically now a commoner even though he’s going to be prime minister. Even servants can be assholes to you. And hey, wife of a guy who manages an inn…is he not a commoner? Black knights are supposed to be very respected, but that’s only if they’re nobles, and apparently historically that’s basically zero of them. She was way too easy on his family for the crap they pulled. And just because she can’t fight does not mean she is a civilian - that is stupid too. She could teach, but the main point is her genetics are still there and she can have kids. The only factor qualifying you to be a black knight is that you can use old magic. That’s it. There’s a part where it says there are lots of requirements for knighthood - white knights have to be nobles. Ok…that’s ONE requirement that you can’t do anything about…

It’s explained that no one knows why some people are born with old magic, but that women with it are slightly more likely to produce children with the same trait. So…why do they have to, by law, marry white mages? Why can’t a mage with affinity just bless your gear and not have any personal relationship with you? If black knights are valuable and rare, wouldn’t you want to protect them? Why doesn’t she have a ton of gear and let him bless all of it, as well as accessories like the earrings, instead of having to bless it all the time?

The villain was a shocker, not in a “wow, I didn’t see that coming” manner, but more of a “WTF, are you kidding me?!” What a stupid reason. I also want to know why his cousin was embezzling her money to give to the sister in law. Why TF would that make sense? And why doesn’t Margot get in any trouble? In fact nearly everyone goes unpunished. His mom, his sister, the servants…it was all BS. Basically they’re all stupid to some degree.
