A creative riff on the Big Turnip folktale. This board book opens from top to bottom to show action above and below the ice. A child is ice fishing and a small fish below the ice takes the bait...and off we go. The girl struggles to pull up the fish and help comes to help her tug, but the fish has help too with sea friends. The tension mounts until a twist ending that will surprise young "readers." A well-designed board book with a fun story.
