"Frosty Fortune" is Book 12 of A Claire Rollins Mystery series, written most spectacularly by J. A. Whiting. The author is one of my top five favorite cozy mystery writers, and this series, as well as every other series I've read by her are all tied for 1st place. This episode has Claire, Nicole, and Robbie doing several things in their lives: they all three work, run, and own the Chocolate Dreams Bakery; they all three have a television series about cooking, recipes, and historical facts about life in 17th through 18th Century Boston, Massachusetts; they are all three soon to celebrate the launch of their first Christmas Cookbook; they all three love and support Connor's musical ambitions; and they all three work to solve murder mysteries. Claire's Police Detective boyfriend, Ian, knows that Claire is psychic, and that she has helped solve many open murder cases in Boston. My favorite characters are Claire's two furry friends, two corgis named Bear and Lady. Other main characters include Tony and Tessa, two older friends of Claire, and 92-year-old Augustus, a retired judge. These last three friends, as well as all of Claire's other friends, get together for celebrations on more than one occasion in this book. This episode is also about the murder of a well-known author, Sasha, who is stabbed to death during the launch of her most recent thriller. There are many, many suspects, and each suspect hated the deceased woman. The more Claire, her friends, and Ian investigate the case, the more they discover that Sasha St. Stevens was not a very nice person, making several enemies along the way. This book is even more actions packed than previous books, especially when the killer(s) come after Claire. With the help of her two best friends/coworkers and two intuitively psychic corgis, this book will end as a happily ever after experience. I gave this book 5 big fat stars, and recommend it to readers who love dogs, mysteries, and wonderful storytelling. I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
Claire, Nicole, Robbie and Ian are at a book launching when the lights suddenly go out , when they come back on Sasha is lying dead stabbed to death on the floor. There isn't anyone near her so who is the murderer, the only hint Claire gets is getting is a strange smell. I love the characters including the dogs in this series. I hope Robbie gets the fame that he wants but doesn't leave the series. I think he gives them a connection and a different prospective v with the younger set and new concepts.
Repetitive and sometimes boring. The term “boyfriend” was overused, the main characters rehashed everything over and over. And Claire should have been smart enough to get her pepper spray out of her pocket and in her hand instead of cowering next to the hospital bed, or at least used the bedside phone, or her phone, to call for help. This book felt like a lot of filler and little mystery

What is the game is a good story by this author. I love all the characters in Boston makes you want to be sure to win Christmas time. Did you not discover who’s the murderer until the end of the book?
