It's the evening of October's new moon.
The night before, on a most inauspicious Friday the 13th, Acacia Blackwood had caught her boyfriend with another woman. Whisked away for a Girls' Night Out by her best friend and roommate, Liv Thorne, Acacia finds herself drawn to the mysterious lead singer, Nyven Ash, of Smoke & Crows.
During their song, "Stone Angels," Acacia falls into a trance. Nyven's gaze upon her turns predatory. Suddenly, she feels trapped in a press of bodies. Slack-jawed and glassy-eyed audience members rush the stage.
