From ASBOs to superheroes... Misfits follows five teenagers on community service who get caught in a freak storm and develop superpowers. Hard-as-nails Kelly can suddenly hear people's thoughts, shamed sporting star Curtis discovers he has the ability to turn back time when he regrets something, party girl Alisa can send people into a sexual frenzy when they touch her skin, Rudy can split into two people and painfully shy Simon can make himself invisible when he feels he's being ignored. These aren't your conventional superheroes with capes and tights. Our misfits have ankle tags and criminal records, and soon discover what a nightmare life can be when you're lumbered with a super power you don't want... Full-colour and brimming with never-seen-before photos and too-rude-for-TV cartoons and illustrations, this book will provide you with everything you ever wanted to know about MISFITS but were too afraid you'd get headbutted to ask.
This book is every bit as silly and puerile as the show is and I mean that in the most flattering way imaginable. I actually read it's couple years ago but I forgot how laugh out loud funny and how it nailed the characters so well.
Amazing TV show, shit book. It does not give more information about the show or the actors, it´s just a bunch of crap as if the characters of the show created this book so you can only expect stupid jokes about dicks, shit, vaginas, farts an sex with old ladies. Pricks.
Re-read: still shitty. Only re-read because after watching The Umbrella Academy i wanted to see Robert Sheehan precious face. Fun-fact, i just notes that "emotional-Rudy" it's not Rudy Two as I believed but Rudy Too and that's really cute. Also, after re-watching the series I've been wanting to comment somewhere that it's funny how the writers of the show invented new powers inspiring themselves with older episodes lines like Monkey Slut inspired Bruno and Kelly's romance, Rudy asking if Seth wasn't planning on stealing Kelly's powers by shagging her inspired Alex's power or the whole Hitler episode inspired by Nikky and Curtis post-sex conversation.
If you're a fan of the show 'Misfits' then this book is great, if you're not a fan, you probably wouldn't be interested. It's basically a book of 'added features' that you can only really appreciate if you've seen the show. I got the book for Christmas and straight away I read it, and as a fan of the show, I found it very amusing! The book contains adult humour and strong language that must be taken into consideration before reading. Overall a good light-hearted read. A must read for Misfits fans!
Visually interesting with creative graphic designs on most every page, a handful of interesting trivia and tasty tidbits for Misfits fans, as well as a comic version of the first episode, and part of a scrapped script. The humor is even more irreverent than the show at times, and a lot of it doesn't quite land without the charm of the actors' delivery, but there are still a few truly funny lines here and there.
If you're looking for trivia or character guide, you might be disappointed as a bulk of this book is just filler and adds very little to the world or tells us anything we didn't know about the characters before. But for any Misfits fan simply looking for new content, a chuckle, and an amusing way to pass the time, then this will certainly satisfy.
