When you’re not seen as a person, you have nothing to lose.

Arnina: Being kidnapped by aliens sucks when they don’t know how to take care of you. All I wanted was to reconnect with an old friend, and instead I ended up stripped and alone in a cell on another planet. I’ve been taken. The biggest problem is that the aliens won’t talk to me. They gaze at me through large glass panes or stare at me over the edge of balconies. They treat me like I’m an exhibit. They treat me like I’m dangerous. He treats me like I’m prey. He is a possessive monster and is one of the ones keeping me trapped. He is kind to me, but he doesn’t let me go. My escape attempts keep getting thwarted by this massive rock hard alien of a man who is the first to put his hands on me - when I fight to get free. He is keeping me there, but he might be the first person to see me for what I am - a person. But is he going to rescue me? Or is he going to keep me for himself?

Alien ZOO is a new saucy series from a neurospicy author with possessive monsters, size differences and delightful proximity.

I'm just a lady with a foul mouth who really likes writing titillating stories about characters who go through experiences we don't have here on earth.

I like tea.

Yoga is life, meditation is therapy, and a birdfeeder right outside the window is the meaning to life, the universe, and everything.

I downloaded this book on Stuff Your Kindle Day. Honestly, it was the art style/anime on the cover page that really had my interest piqued.

I devoured this book. The FMC was resilient, even when consistently mistreated when she is considered an 'animal'. You also don't really know who the MMC is in the world building, until later in the book, which keeps an air of mystery.

This book had some of my favorite tropes:
✔️Language barrier
✔️Dual POV first person
✔️Strong FMC
✔️Sassy BFF
✔️Not normal 🍆
✔️Abduction
✔️Fated Mates

The book was a refreshing take on abduction and the aftermath. Arnina was abducted and sold as an 'animal' to a zoo, that considered her as non-sentient. Being that she was not able to speak their language, she had to get creative on how to prove her intelligence and she was not just a mindless animal. Makrus was in charge of her pen, and of course was instantly connected to her, but was completely confused because he thought of her as an animal. As he consistently stayed around her, he started to note that she was indeed, not an animal. That is when the true plan started to try to break her out.

The world is not primitive. They have better technology and vastly more advanced than anything on Earth. Some of where this book fell short are the details of the house (I know this is a weird note but I truly could not understand how the characters maneuvered), and the world building. Were the basics there to see the world and understand? Yes, absolutely. Did I want to know some more about the world, and just how involved Makrus is? Yes. I wouldn't say this book lacked any of these details, but I wanted to know more about it.

Arnina's best friend, Lorelei, was pure gold. Her sass and bluntness were always refreshing. She adding the dynamic that I always enjoyed reading. I wish her book was already out because I can't wait to read her adventure.

Arnina (h) is seeking an old friend when she's abducted by aliens and thrown into an exotic zoo as the main attraction. Arnina struggles to prove her sentience to her alien captors who don't speak her language or how to treat humans, leading to her desperate attempts to break free from her captors. She crosses paths with Makrus (H), a possessive and enigmatic alien, who might just be the key to her escape. The dynamic between Arnina and Makrus is filled with tension, humor, and a slow-burning romance that's both intriguing and steamy. The imaginative world-building brings this alien world and its quirky characters to life. Plenty of humorous moments, dangerous situations, and a growing relationship between Arnina and Makrus, as she transforms from a timid captive into a strong-willed individual who learns to stand her ground. Lovely alien-human romance with a mix of romance, spice, sci-fi, and humor.

Enjoyable sci fi romantic adventure

The worldbuilding is interesting; the story is good and filled with laughter, adventure, thrills, trauma, friendship, and love. I prefer my SFR to focus more on the adventure than the sex, and this book does that, although there is definitely graphic sex with a very different non-human. Arnina and Makrus are a great couple. The teenagers may be my favorite characters. The intro for Alien Song recommends reading Alien Zoo first, and I'm glad I did.

This... was a refreshing experience for an alien romance that I don't see often. Gauging sentience, space travel and the time it takes, language with barriers that is atypical to human communication, and reproduction culture and its barriers between species

This book made me think on a few different levels from the way humans act with animals in our own real world society, to how we treat each other (from the window of a fantasy novel depicting aliens...) It also reminded me that as humans, we are still animals... just as MMC's race is (to us humans) obviously animal based.

There are a few plot holes mixed in that are forgivable (ex: the ancestral braid's significance and its disappearance from the initial story and its sudden reappearance) but are noticable enough that it may make your pause your reading experience and go 'wait, what?'

The pacing and the dynamic between FMC and her best friend was a little klunky here and there, especially towards the end. It felt like these two, after FMC's breakup with asshole ex, were beginning to bond and become thick as theives/were already best friends... but then there's a sudden hurtful "Are you really, though" moment that threw me for a loop. I was like "Wait... I get that was mentioned, but why are you two suddenly bitter to each other??" I felt as if there was a whole bit of character development between FMC and her Bestie that I missed. While it bugged me after I finished, it didn't ruin my experience. Some aspects of their relationship kinda came out of left field for me.

MMC's actual role in the world took me by surprise as well. The way I went from 'male from a wealthy family' to 'male of political standing' to his actual outright rank in society was not something I was expecting. In hindsight, it did make sense if spoke from a present day mental narrative. Meaning, the trauma happened to the character, and this was them trying to move past it or overcome it by not thinking about it. However, I had no actual sense of just how the stakes actually were in this story.

The chemistry between the two is interesting and engaging enough to where I finished the book. I liked the driving force of consent here. Clear consent is always key to a healthy building relationship and I think these two have it. So kudos to MMC for enduring as long as he did to ensure that communication was clear.

And that's what I think the heart of the story was about: Communication between two people of different species/races that find each other attractive that don't speak the same language and come from vastly different ways of life.

I feel as if this story had boxes to check off in terms of tropes and kinks, and it competed with the story the author wanted to tell. That's just my opinion, and it amounts to a hill of beans, nothing more.

Overall, here's my rating:

Plot/ Story enjoyment: 3.5 🌟
Pacing: 2.75 🌟
Characters/Character development: 3 🌟
Spice: 3 🌶

Did I love it? No.
Do I hate it? Also no.
Am I willing to give it another shot after reading other books in the same universe that are available? Yes.

I adored this concept. I enjoyed the pace of the romance, the characters andthe world building.

But..... BUT this book really needed editing! Spelling errors are absolutely everywhere, past and present tense mix ups, awkwardly written sentences and formatting issues. It really detracted from the story and pulled me out of the book when I came across a mistake.... which was very often. Thus the rating is 3 stars instead of being higher. If the story hadn't been enjoyable it would have been 2 stars.

Also it needed to be made much more clear who the emperor was at the end, I'm pretty sure I figured it out but it was left very vague and hazy...

This book has a TON of potential and it would be one I'd reread.... after it gets sent to an editor.

Fun concept, writing was fine mostly, but I think there were some editing issues. One scene at the end of the book is accidentally repeated, once with one set of characters and once with a different set of characters. That was pretty crappy. Also I know it's not my job to decide these things, but it's difficult enough sticking with a book where a symbiotic parasite lives in your genitals safely to help reproduction. I did not then need to see a character with their genital parasite flapping around in the open air, grabbing people and stuff. That was weird. Didn't like that.

Finding Her Strength . . .

Arnina had just gotten out of an abusive relationship, and she and her best friend Lorelei were walking along the beach relaxing together. She spotted a strange shimmer over the water but didn’t think too much about it as they made plans for dinner. The shimmer had moved closer and now Lorelei noticed it too as a sudden brightness blinded them. She was in a cage, the metal digging into her hands and knees as she got sick to her stomach. Something cold and wet hit her with a force that knocked her over, the sharp grating again cutting her skin. She almost suffocated as the blast of liquid struck her face under high pressure. A shot of something knocked her out. Aliens transferred her to a permanent cage, assuming her attempts to communicate were just “barking and chittering”. What she heard from them was like someone singing, but she didn’t understand it. And the one she stared at had black markings that reminded her of a snow leopard. She was non-sentient according to their paperwork, but Makrus Aura Fironus already didn’t agree with that assessment. Both of them had felt something while looking at each other.

Arnina’s training now begins with the cruel Cyop who is also enjoying Makrus’ humiliation as the creature grabbed his promise braid. This was Makrus’ punishment for his playboy behavior which has damaged his image. Unfortunately, Cyop has something like a cattle prod to control her with. She unraveled the promise braid as a crowd watched her. Then she used the “rope” to begin to slowly climb the tree! Her anger at seeing they had put her in a zoo gave her the strength to climb. She just reached the wall separating her from another predator, not knowing she would die if he didn’t stop her. So Makrus jumped from the stands to rescue her as she began to fall. Would he save her from the deadly fall when she had only moments before her own muscles failed? Would she eventually find a way to communicate? And why, despite her anger, were her feelings confusing her toward this male?

This author is magic with world building. This storyline will lead readers every step of the way into this world Arnina finds herself in. The frustration of not being able to communicate becomes our frustration too! The writing is done so well and the characters are perfectly presented so that the reader knows their personality and anticipates what might be coming to thwart her. You will not want to miss this awesome series. It will bring out emotions you were not expecting, and take you in directions you hadn’t imagined. I loved their journey to finding each other.

This was a new subgenre for me but I love space and this cover was giving me major Inuyasha vibes! Just look at the smirk and the ears and long white hair! My anime fan girl heart couldn't resist!

Makrus, our alien heartthrob was not what I expected but I loved him. He's on a mission to claim his birthright and can't really afford any distractions but when he first see's Arnina and things clicked for him, he doesn't back down from the challenges this brings him. Even though she was human and according to the information he had, no a sentient being, Makrus does everything he can to find out the truth about Arnina and protect her too. To say he was confused when his mating instinct was awakened around her is definitely an understatement.

Arnina handled herself pretty well after being kidnapped from earth, treated like an animal, displayed in an alien zoo and then finding an ally she was attracted to but wasn't sure she could 100% trust. There is cultural differences, language barriers and a lot of sneaky and scary predators that give this story the space opera adrenaline I was craving.

This is part of a series, each book features a different couple but you don't have to read previous books to enjoy Alien Zoo.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’ll be honest, I grabbed this book because the cover instantly gave me Inuyasha vibes, and I couldn’t resist. But what I found inside completely blew me away. The story follows two human women who are stolen from Earth and taken to another planet, only to be placed in a zoo as “exotic creatures.” To the aliens there, they’re nothing more than animals, something to be gawked at and contained. That setup alone had me hooked.
Then comes the twist, one worker begins to question everything. Maybe these strange, fragile beings from Earth are more than animals. Maybe they’re something… intelligent. Sentient. And that’s where the story truly takes off.
From there, the emotional depth of this book really shines. It’s not just an alien romance, it’s a story about compassion, understanding, and the courage to see beyond what you’ve been taught. The MMC absolutely stole my heart. He’s protective without being possessive, and his quiet strength and patience made me melt. He recognizes that she’s his mate, but he never takes what isn’t freely given. Instead, he earns her trust, step by step, showing her that she has choices, that she’s free.
He even tells others that if the humans ever wanted to leave, he wouldn’t stop them. That kind of respect, in an alien romance? Chef’s kiss.
This story had everything I love about the genre, the danger, the tenderness, the “us against the galaxy” tension. It’s equal parts heartwarming and thrilling, with just enough emotional punch to make you ache in the best way.
I finished the last page and immediately wanted more. I can’t wait to see where this series goes next, if the next installment is anything like this one, I’ll be first in line to grab it.

Spice: 🌶🌶🌶🌶/5, ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Plot: ⭐️⭐️/5
Writing: ⭐️⭐️/5
Tropes: MF, language barrier, rich alien MMC, human FMC away from home, creative anatomy
Pacing: ... I got bored
Would I recommend?: With the preface that this should be read like a fanfic and to very specific people in my life who arent that particular about quality of writing, sure.

Cool concept in theory (fmc starts in a zoo, rescued by hot alien who recognizes her intelligence).

The book could have (should have) had some editing done. I'm usually a lot pickier when it comes to books, expecting more mature (well done) writing and minimal if any typos/continuity errors, but after coming across the first several errors in this book, I decided to switch from my usual mature book reading lens to a "I'm reading a fanfic on a website" lens. That helped until about the 60% mark. There are a LOT of typos and repetitive filler text.

I couldn't get into the plot which just seemed to be about the mmc securing his inheritance through having a mate (the fmc) but language barrier poses a problem. That's it. Thats the plot.

I read a lot of sci-fi romance and I *love* the language barrier trope... but that's usually secondary to an actual plot/conflict happening, like a war or like.. something exciting happening that they have to overcome together despite not being able to verbally communicate well with each other. Or they find their own ways of communicating like through gestures or something.

And oh my god how was the fmc starting to learn their completely alien language from nothing, no reference points, to several words after one conversation with alien teenagers???? 🤦‍♀️ (facepalm)

I really tried to like this book.

Very cute

I got this book as part of the stuff your Kindle event, I didn't have any expectations going into it and was pleasantly surprised with what I got.

The world building is a little rough, some parts seem like you're supposed to already understand and others seem overly explained. The characters are sweet, though you don't have a lot of time to dig into their backstory. Despite the limited time, the author does a good job of making you sympathize with both main characters. The relationship between Arnina (FMC) and Lorelei (best friend/side character) is believable for the situation described for both before and during the events of the story.

I felt like there wasn't really any sense of something larger at stake in the story; I know there was a larger conflict that had preceded our introduction, but it felt like it concluded with very little risk and minimal effort. Whether this is in deference to a larger overall plot across multiple books or because of how short this one is, I'm not sure, but I would love to have had a bit more danger or peril, or at least difficulty along the way.

All said and done, this is a cute alien monster romance with a premise I haven't seen elsewhere. It's a great no-thought-needed fluff book for when you just want something fun that doesn't require you to keep track of complicated politics, a ton of characters/places, or any sort of mystery.

Arnina, the female human lead, is walking with her best friend on a beach when she is literally abducted. Waking in a crate far too small with no hygiene capacity, she’s terrified and furious, and determined to escape at the first opportunity.

Makrus, the male feline humanoid lead, has been raised to be the leader of his people but his father was killed in a corporate coup when he was a child. Pretending to be a playboy all his adult life, he’s planning how he can overthrow his oppressors. Then he finds Arnina as a captive, theoretically non-sentient being in his zoo. He’s sure that can’t be right - his instincts wouldn’t lead him astray like that!

Now he needs to get Arnina out, keep her safe, win his position, and convince her she’s his mate…

This story is dual POV, well written, and the beginning of a series of full length sci fi romance stories. I enjoyed Arnina’s developing confidence as she exercised her initiative whilst trying to escape. I enjoyed Makrus’ evolving emotions and his willingness to change his plans to account for Arnina’s involvement in his life. I appreciated the consent focus for intimacy and that Makrus made every effort to avoid taking advantage of the language barrier and Arnina’s lack of awareness of the impact of consummation. I enjoyed the secondary character interactions and am looking forward to more in this series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Where is the neurospice?

I am unsure what part of this book was supposed to be "neurospicy", assuming that term means neurodivergent. I expected that bit to be more obvious, I guess. I'm AuDHD and at least as far as I can tell, the characters do not fit that neurotype, nor do they seem anxious, OCD, or any of the other non-typical neurotypes.
If anything, I think that term fits Lorelei the best, but I only know that because I read most of her book before reading this one.
Anyway, I did enjoy the story overall. I like the characters well enough. I like Makrus more than Arnina. She was okay-smart, creative, and kind, but also just kind of annoying because of how she handled the situation with Lorelei and her ex-bf. That entire situation has now been drawn out through two books and is tiring to read about. The miscommunication or rather avoidant communication is frustrating. They need to just sit and talk it out.
Some of the terminology used was so cringe, though. I never want to see the phrase "massive log" again. 🤢

The book does need better editing. There were several typos throughout the book and also through Alien Song. I want to read Cryo Crisis, but I am wary of doing so because of the many errors in the two books I've already read.
(I do editing myself, so these do really stick out to me, unfortunately.)

'She snuggled against me as I felt a part of my heart crack, a light shining into the depths of my protected self, filling me with a warmth I didn't know I could feel.
She didn't know who I was.
She wasn't here in this cart because she wanted me for my fame or my family's money.
She was here because she needed me.
She needed me to save her.'

I absolutely loved this book! Deiri Di's Wild Mars Wild Pack series was the first books I've read by this author and loved them and thought it a unique and fun series. But I loved this book even more! Great world building. I loved the setting of a zoo and aliens keeping her there thinking she's an exotic animal. Arnina was smart, which she expressed not only with her attempts to escape, but even more so with what she did to try and let aliens know that she was in fact sentient. She impressed me. I loved Makrus, how he processed his reactions to her, how he started to figure her out, and the steps he took to help her. I also loved Arnina's friend Lorelei. These two women together had me cracking up! I liked some of the other supporting characters. The story was exciting and interesting and I couldn't put it down! Another fantastic read by Deiri Di! I can't wait to read Lorelei's story! 5 stars.

The billing of this book as “neurospicy” confused the heck out of me, because all of the characters seem neurotypical to me. The FMC is mistakenly stolen from Earth and finds herself in an alien zoo where she has to convince the aliens that she is sapient (the book uses “sentient”, but sentience is defined as “capable of sensing or feeling”, which all animals are).

As a language nerd, my favorite parts of this novel are the parts where FMC observes the aliens’ language and her attempts to mimic it. I honestly could read romances with language barriers all heckin’ day, which is a good part of the reason I gave this book five stars. The author spent some time thinking about how a feline alien language might be different from human language—incorporating ear and tail flicks, tone imparting meaning, etc. The MMC’s POV and his perception of human language as “barking” and “chittering” really adds a lot to the characterization of his alien race and highlights this difference.

Consideration is taken with the way buildings and furniture are constructed as well—what would be comfortable and functional for a feline species, and how would humans navigate it? The author didn’t HAVE to re-invent the staircase for these bipedal aliens, but it means a lot to me that they did.

FMC manages to “prove” her sapience in a variety of ways, with her book-smarts, with her attention to detail, and accidentally (on one memorable occasion) in a comedy-of-errors-turned-sexy situation which leaves MMC VERY confused and stressed out.

The spice is… hmm, surprisingly sweet, considering the alien anatomy and size difference could’ve made this a very different situation. Gotta love a consent king; MMC is determined to inform FMC of all the possible consequences and make sure she is capable of saying “no” and understanding her situation before they go all the way. *chefs kiss*

I’m not sure if the other books in this series will be as intriguing for me now that they have the genre-typical “universal translators” working, but we’ll see!

"So sad this book is not having all the stars, but guessing not everyone liked it, but to me, it was a BLISS!! The story has many chapters, though it is not that long, so don't worry about that. Being an alien romance, it was important for the main characters to get to know each other, identify what made them alien to each other, and come to terms about what being in love as mates mean. Of course, it takes time, so the story could feel slow, but the author combined humor with curiosity, survival instincts, learning about each other, and of course falling in love. Annina had a bright personality, intelligent and curious, but she lacked in the romance side, at least at first. Markus, he was perfect! From the very first moment, there was a connection worth exploring. Even as enemies, it was undeniable the attraction and the bond. He was smart, I liked his sense of right and wrong, and for being the super elite alien, he still showed his vulnerability, which made me love him more. For the spice, well, let's just say he's alien, so expect the unexpected and enjoy the journey. Told in dual POV, so we got both sides of the story. BTW, I'M SO DYING FOR LORELEI STORY!!! SHE WAS SUCH AN AMAZING CHARACTER, LOOKIN FORWARD TO SEE WHOM IS HER ALIEN!!!"

I found the cover to be quite gorgeous, and the description intrigued me enough to try something new that I haven't tried yet. I bought this on Stuff Your Kindle Day. I really enjoyed the book and found it hard to put it down. Things I cherished:
💖Language barrier
💖 First-person dual point of view
💖robust FMC
💖Friend Fiesy - can't wait for her book
💖Not your typical 🍆
💖abduction
💖Fated Mates,

but I'm not sure about a few things. For example, based on the description, I thought she would be a little bit more disoriented when she got in the tank. I get the consent issue as well because of the language barrier, but it was starting to get to me. Nevertheless, I adore the chemistry and heat between the FMC and MMC; it's more like instant love. I had to read it again to sort of understand it since the political stuff got complicated. He has to play the weak, docile guy in order to win. I didn't really get it, but whatever, that's their culture. I also wished the FMC and her friend got mend bridges but I guess that will be in her book. In the end, it's a HEA I recommend.

This was a fabulous series opener and I found it a dynamic read. Arnina, abducted from Earth with her pal, finds herself placed in a clear zoo enclosure on an alien planet. She can't communicate with anyone to prove she's sentient but she sure works hard to that end. Makrus, undercover at the zoo as a means of getting his power and autonomy back from a corrupt consortium, is shocked at how he reacts to the new specimen being held in the zoo. Of course, Arnina isn't 'just' an animal and I found the author did a great job with world building, emotions, interactions and plot to fully pull me into Makrus and Arnina's story. There is a slower build to the romance but that makes perfect sense for this story. I love that the author also included some humour to balance out the dire situation Arnina found herself in. I am fully engaged in this new series and cannot wait for the next book to come out :D

Cryoworld!!!!!

I love Di's books because she actually make you see the person, uuummm animal or monster...yeah monster in the stories and you seek to understand.

I was thrown when I realized that Arnina and Lorelie were woken up from a pod. I should have known cause this was part of the Cryo world. But once that sunk in..everything made sense, of the communication, the food and the housing.

I love that Makrus not only was attracted to her but wanted to keep her safe cause of her sentience. Then the ball starts to roll..you find out who he us, what he has and what he can do.

Lorelie was a hoot..cannot wait for her book..The Emperor has a fight on his hands.

Different than other alien abduction story!

🔸️ The story has good intrigue, interesting plot twists and decent world building.
🔸️ I like the romance here. Both parties have to overcome some serious stereotypes and huge language barrier (extra pros: the author hasn't made it easy at all for them).
🔸️ I enjoyed moments in which MMC is graduallu changing his perception of FMC, to finally raise as her protector.
🔸️ The spice is good and not overdone. Concentrates around: mating, breeding, special p@@n, tentacles, size difference, curvy FMC.
🔸️ Well written, smooth and easy to read!
I will check the other stories in series for sure!.

This was a weird but enjoyable book the characters had to fight not only the language barrier but had to move that the human from Earth was not an animal but a sentient being. Arnina is a human kidnapped from Earth along with her best friend Lorelei that wakes up in a cage which is an Exotic Zoo and she needs to escape. Markus was raised to be the next leader of his people but before that could happen his father was killed and with the corporate coup he lost it all. Now while looking at the human who’s pen he cleans he realizes she is trying to escape and is about to fall and races to save her where there is an instant attraction between them. How does it all work out get this book too find out.

NO THANK YOU!

I liked Arnina and Markus as a couple. I liked most of the storyline except for Arnina being treated as a zoo animal. Her nakedness, toilet and her period were just gross while she was a zoo animal, yuck! I just didn’t like her best friend, Lorelei she was annoying and odd. Yes, they were best friends but I don’t know why.

Now the last thing is the Osae they made things so complicated and made reading the book difficult. They got in the way of the sex scenes for me. I was so tied up, excuse the pun, trying to understand what they were doing.

All of the books I’ve read I’ve never complained about one as much as I have this book. I wouldn’t recommend this book.

One minute Arnina and her friend are on a beach. Next she is being pushed in to an enclosure. She is the exotic and dangerous new exhibit in an alien zoo. Now she has to show she is sentient. Only the aliens don't speek her language.
Murkus thinks there is something starnge about exhibit, Why is he attracted to an alien. This is a great read with imaginative world building. This tstory has a bit of everything. humour, danger and steam.
I realy enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more by this author.

This book was so much fun! Granted, it didn’t start off that way but Arnina was a delightfully strong female character and I really connected with the way she tackled all of her problems. Makrus (which I definitely mispronounced as Markus for half the book) is the perfect match for her and his compassion and moral compass is something I wish we could find in real life. There’s tons of action in this story, spicy and otherwise and it was just such a fun story to read! I look forward to reading many more things by this author, especially Lorelei’s story.

“We live with the choices we make,”

Arnina has taken a huge step in her life... then Aliens decide an even bigger change is in order and abduct her.

Makrus knows how others see him, but he also knows who he is at heart, and what he wants to do with his life, the key is finding the path that will make it possible.

This done in one Kindle unlimited book looks at communication and intelligence, alongside frustration, assumptions and learning how to deal with others.

Makrus has determination and a fair amount of smarts on his side, but I loved the evolution of how he saw, and interacted with, Arnina.

Here's hoping we get a book for Lorelei.

This book was interesting. While I love the concept I wish there was more conflict in the beginning. I can either love or hate the miscommunication trope, but when it is done with different cultures and species I typically love it. I wish there was more trying to figure out each other and having small mess ups. The romance was good and was paced nicely. It was an interesting book and I would like to continue the series but I wasn’t pulled into it as much as I wish I was.

I really enjoyed this book. First there was the fantastic world building. Then there was edge of your seat action. The characters and the communication difficulties between the humans and "aliens" were another barrier. Arinina was fabulous and Lorelei was enough over the top to be hilarious. The two friends from earth had me laughing. Markus was something else but I don't want to elaborate and spoil things but dang, why don't human men have clovi?

There were some steamy parts in the book but other the the sexual tension, the steamy parts took a bit of a back seat to the story which made the entire experience that much richer.
