From New York Times bestselling author Opal Carew comes the second installment in a red hot erotic mini-series that will rock your world.
Rafe Ranier was my boss and secret crush. A rock musician by night and head of a billion dollar empire by day, Rafe could have any woman he wanted. But I was just the shy secretary he never noticed. For years I obsessed over him, until I finally realized I had to walk away. I needed to break from the secure life I'd always known to discover who I really was.
I never expected Rafe to follow me.
Now I'm on the road with his band, Savage Kiss, and all my secret fantasies are coming true. But I fear I've made a huge mistake, because if I get any more attached to a man I can never truly have, my heart will be broken beyond all repair.
Don't miss the other epic installments of HIS TO CLAIM: No Strings (Part 1), Rock Hard (Part 3), Wild Ones (Part 4), Breaking Storm (Part 5), and Perfect Rhythm (Part 6).
Despite the somewhat convoluted and icky feel of the first installment to this story, I was still very interested in continuing. However, this second part of the story solidifies the fact that this serial series is stuffed full of erotic tropes but lacking in real plot.
Billionaire businessman hero... √ Alpha rock star hero...√ (yes, you read that right...he's a billionaire businessman AND an alpha rock god) Oh, so innocent and ditzy heroine √ Chance meetings leading to hot sex √ Lots and lots of sex √ Massive members and perfectly sculpted bodies √
I guess it's okay smut, but I've read too many amazing erotic romances that left a real and lasting impact on me to continue with this. Maybe good for when you need a very short, hot little steamy smutfest in between books.
In this installment we find out that Rafe's other alter ego, his rock star alter ego named Storm. Now my problem with this is I don't really know what kind of band Storm belongs to. Are they famous? What kind of music do they play? A lot of details are left out and the reader is left trying to fill in the blanks.
On a positive note, Melanie and Rafe/Storm relationship is getting somewhere.

Quick review for a quick read. I think reading this installment kind of proves the point that in serial novels, a weakness is that some parts may be stronger standing by themselves than others, and some middle points of the released serial can come across as weak considering their beginning and end points.
For "Savage Kiss", the second narrative in Opal Carew's His to Claim serial novel, the weaknesses really stood out in comparison. I don't know if some of these may be fixed in the final version of the book, but I'll point out some things that I saw/took issue with in my galley copy. The first thing is that there was a lot of repetition of turns of phrases. Far too many mentions of the word "masculine" as a descriptor. "Masculine" is a very weak descriptor. If you say someone has "masculine" hands and you're describing a male, its redundant. It is not a sexy descriptor, which I've no doubt that's what the author was going for, but it didn't work. I think I caught four or five mentions of the word masculine in the early stages here and it took me out of the story. There were other phrases that proved repetitious even in the short length of this read that I think could've been culled or reduced down.
But even with that, this narrative - while definitely jumping into the steamy interludes between Melanie and Rafe, had its share of weaknesses. I get that Rafe has something of a dual identity - he's kind of like Jem from Jem and the Holograms. And some of you are probably looking at me now as if I have two heads, but hear me out: he has a dual identity and it's kind of over the top. By one means, he's a wealthy businessman, by another - he's a rockstar called Storm. I'm having a little trouble with not thinking this narrative is pure wish fulfillment. Wish fulfillment in itself wouldn't be a problem if I could suspend disbelief enough to follow it, but it's kind of glaringly obvious and pandering to the characters, and that doesn't make me feel for the characters here much since it's that obvious. I found myself rolling my eyes and saying "Okay, whatever, what happens next?" because I'm waiting for something to emotionally pull me in more, to make me feel for these characters rather than just the purported sexy times - it comes too easy. When you've got everyone around the heroine saying "Oh man, Rafe is so hot" and then the heroine reiterating the same thought, then it's just overselling the point.
I don't know, I thought this installment would be better and I was more forgiving of certain parallels in the first installation than I was in this one because of the chosen setup. I'm hoping the next part is stronger, because I just didn't connect here. And the ending is really typical and while a cliffhanger, I couldn't really feel anything for it.
Overall score: 2/5 stars

While I enjoyed this second installment of His to Claim, I couldn’t help but feel like something was missing.
It was a little odd to me that Melanie, who has know Rafe for years, suddenly started referring to him as ‘Storm,’ his stage name, in her head. Even if she was fantasizing about him as Storm while they were having sex, I would think that her inner dialogue would still refer to him as Rafe, as that is who he has been to her all these years.
I felt like Rafe and Melanie were pulled a bit out of character for this installment, or maybe Rafe is just too tame a character for me to see as a ‘Rock Star,’ even a lesser known one. I think it would be a bit more believable if Rafe’s inner dialogue was more edgy. He just seems too tame. I’m not saying there aren’t tame rock stars, but in my fiction, I want them to be a bit dangerous.
Now, as far as steam goes, I think this book hits the mark. Rafe is definitely a master in the bedroom, and Melanie is putting out the signs that she wants him to take control. Based on the ending of this one, I think Rafe is gearing up to do just that!
Despite its flaws this serial has drawn me in, and I’m excited to read the next one.

parts 1-5 read and reviewed together
in the His to Claim series, Opal Carew has provided another fun, sexy, easy to read story. following on from the His to Possess series, this one follows Melissa & Rafe. as always, there's the ups and downs of a new (maybe) relationship, with plenty of hot chemistry between them.
only trouble is, I only have ARC's for the first 5 parts & now I'm left hanging, at a critical moment in the story, waiting impatiently for the last instalment to get to the HEA! well, there better be a HEA in there anyway!! :)
Do you know what I just realized? Rafe is actually Storm from His to Possess. I don't remember enough of that story to recall everything about him, except that he was fucking hot, and that he was engaged to the girl in that story and left her at the altar. Is that Melanie's friend? Yes! Ugh, I shouldn't be trying to figure this out in my review but it's driving me crazy.
But not enough to go back and reread.
Anyway, Savage Kiss picks up right where No Strings leaves off, and Melanie is traveling with Rafe/Storm's band. They're tearing it up every night, but Rafe wants a NSA relationship. Cue the triangle in the form of lead singer, Travis, who I am totally rooting for.
On to the next installment ;)

This book is a pretty wholesome romance between a CEO, corporate man, who moonlights as a sexy rockstar and his previous secretary. It's not bad but not amazing. I listened to the audiobook, I think I would've liked this book more if I had read it physically, listening to an american lady try to do a sexy man voice and a spanish accent just made this feel more like a comedy then it should have been. Overall I thought this was nice, the steamy scenes felt a bit too rinse and repeat for me, just a tad boring. But I liked that they had a healthy relationship, he realized he couldn't control her life and respects her wishes when she pushes back. Also I didn't read the first book and I don't think it's necessary to read them in order, there was enough context that you got the general idea of the premise of the first which helped to me to not feel lost in this book and world. The amount of detail let this book stand alone pretty well, not bombarding us with details from the first book.
This is a series of novellas. I have read parts 1-5. The sixth part is not out yet and this series has cliffhangers.
Rafe is a musician and it really is a balm to his soul. The band has just made it big but he has decided to go home to help his brother run their corporation. That's right, he's a billionaire too. He muscled, tattooed and sexy.while he was back home at his company, he had an assistant named Melanie. She was invaluable to him at work. She left because she harbored feelings for him she knew he'd never return. She's a bit of a free spirit and really wants to be an artist. Rafe never knew the the reason for her leaving.
He missed Melanie and went to see her at her new job as a barista. When he sees her,he finally really sees her and he wants her. Melanie is apprehensive but thrilled with the knowledge that Rafe wants her. She's loved him for so long and now her dreams coming true. She doesn't trust it but she's more than willing to go along for the ride. Rafe's been fooled by love before and tells himself he wants a fling only.
I wavered back and forth with how I felt about the book while reading it. I liked it, then I didn't,then I did and then I didn't. The character's fault irritated me a lot of the time. Melanie was insecure, unsure of how to get what she wanted and tempted by other men. She even let them kiss her! Rafe was untrusting sometimes thoughtless. I mean the sex was hot, the chemistry was good but the story was just so-so. Will I come back for part six? Only if I get it for free.
Warning for the less adventurous readers: this series contains a foursome.

This second installment of His to Claim: Savage Kiss was seriously steamy, hot. I could not believe Melanie and Rafe and how they are meant to be together that kiss was hot. Then the moment was broken damn Jessica how could she they were about to get it on.
Melanie knew that the moment that his lips touched her that she was a goner. Rafe can’t believe that he is kissing Melanie but it feels so right. I love that Rafe invited Melanie to see him play in an outdoor concert. Savage Kiss was coming into town and he wanted Melanie there and oh my did he get a good flash. I could not believe that she had it in her to do what she did and someone else got a little peek show also. Rafe seems a little possessive of her but he totally striked out with his little speech after their erotic love making. Wow, he was just wow. I loved seeing Travis, Jessica’s brother, again and we might have a little fight in our hands. It seems maybe Travis will be making a move on Melanie and Rafe jealous side comes out.
His to Claim: Savage Kiss was erotic; it was hot and steaming hot. I could not believe where Ms. Carew left this second installment. I wanted to throw my kindle because it was getting oh so good. I know these are short stories but Ms. Carew did a good job in captivating my attention.
I truly recommend this read to readers that love erotic stories.
Savage Kiss starts off where No Strings leaves off. Jessica and Rafe get reacquainted, but after he leaves her at home, he notices her wallet was left behind. What does the gentleman in Rafe tells him to do? Maybe it was something else but he brings it back. After being dropped off Melanie herself wished she had invited him in.
I mentioned that in No Strings there was no sex. Savage Kiss makes up for it. This time Rafe invites Melanie to watch him play with the band and after one unexpected stunt from Melanie neither one of them contains there feelings bottled in. I hope her back is ok. Lol. We meet the other band members. Right away there's lots of flirting with Melanie and Rafe is not happy. Specially with Travis. Check this out. Turns out Travis is Jessica's brother. Who is Melanie's BFF and also Rafe's ex. Sort of like a keep it in the family thing, this time let's keep it between the band. Whatever. I guess Melanie may have a new admirer and let's see if Rafe likes it. Hey, he did say he wasn't looking for a relationship.
It does end in a Cliffy, but not one of those that makes you throw your kindle. Just one that's needed because well it's a short story and there are 3 more stories to go. Happy Readings!!

Title: Savage Kiss Author: Opal Carew Publisher/Year: St Martin Press / Macmillan 6/3/14 Length: 29 Pages Series: His to Claim #2
Overview
Rafe Ranier was my boss and secret crush. A rock musician by night and head of a billion dollar empire by day, Rafe could have any woman he wanted. But I was just the shy secretary he never noticed. For years I obsessed over him, until I finally realized I had to walk away. I needed to break from the secure life I’d always known to discover who I really was.

My Thoughts
The saga continues - with a rock concert, a dive into unknown territory - some heat and passion....and a potential love triangle? Didn't expect that one to come along, but i'm not sad that it has. We welcome Travis, Jessica's brother and Rafe's bandmate into the story - and it'll be interesting to see how things pan out, especially since Travis has no idea that Rafe is a billionaire and the brother to his sister's fiance, and Rafe has claimed to not want a relationship right now. where will that put Melanie? Only the next chapters will tell.
So yeah...that great potential I had talked about in my review for the previous episode kinds lost its spark.
I mean, yes the sex was good and the chemistry between Rafe and Melanie jumped off the page, but the growth of a connection was almost non-existent which is a no-no for me.
I liked that the author added some new players to the game. Travis managed to draw Melanie's attention even though she seemed enthralled by Storm, which made me wonder how it will all be played out.
I also enjoyed the way Melanie was letting herself go a little bit. In that first episode she seemed like the shy quiet type and I'm glad to see that she's allowing herself the chance to let go.
As for Rafe, I'm undecided about him now. On the one hand we have the caring sexy man who doesn't want to hurt Melanie, but then he goes and ruins it all by speaking 'honestly'. I understand his hesitation, but really he should explore his feelings more before laying down how it's gonna be.
All in all, a bit of a disappointment although it did have some redeeming moments. However, I'm still curious where it will all lead.
(Review for parts 1-5) I will admit before I have read a Opal Carew book and so disliked it that I did not Finnish it. However I take each book at its own merits, but I wanted to be honest. I am enjoying this book and was irked that I didn't realize there was 6 parts so I am still waiting to finish it. I have enjoyed the variety of scenes in the books and I love the break down in the parts. I could read the book cover to cover, but I love it being broken down for me, so I do not have to decide where to end for the night. Storm (aka Rafe) is a business suited rock guitarist. Melanie used to be his personal assistant, but left her job to pursue her art. Now that they no longer work together, things are allowed to get hot and heated between the two, but will Storm be able to live with what he and Melanie both want out of a relationship?
As I said, I am enjoying the the book and am desperate to finish it, but there are times when I think the caliber in writing could be better. Some word choices and phrasing seem highschoolish, overused. But overall, it is much better than the first book I ever tried to read by this author.
In the second installment of the His to Claim series, Melanie and Rafe have declared their mutual attractions to one another. Rafe, in his effort to get away from his father years earlier, went on the road with his rock band Savage Kiss as their lead guitarist. Once his father passed, Rafe stepped up to the plate to help his brother Dane run the family company, but rock music is in his blood, so on weekends, Rafe still plays in the band. For this installment, Rafe invites Melanie to one of his out of town concerts and after the concert, the two grab a hotel room. But first they christen a tree in the parking lot. As far as erotic romances go, this is still pretty tame. They do what normal, new couples do. They engage in a lot of foreplay, and then they get down to business, but unlike other books where the couple goes at it all night, twice was enough for this couple. The characters are wooden, and the writing is stilted- the author starts a scene and just when you think you are about to hit the climax of the scene, she ends it abruptly and moves on to something else. But if you are looking for a short read (30 minutes max) then this is for you.
Melanie goes to a show of Rafe's(Storm) and watches him perform. After the show, the sexual build-up comes to a head and they end up having sex...against a tree. Melanie is later introduced to the other member's of Rafe's band, Savage Kiss (hence the name of the story, where surprise surprise, one of the other member's of the band is taken with her. At the end of this short, Melanie is stuck in a predictable scenario; does she see where things go with Rafe/Storm who has made it quite clear he doesn't want a commitment, or does she play the field, and fill her funnel with sexy lead singer, Travis. If true to Opal Carew form, she'll probably end up with both in some way shape or form(s).
This is not difficult reading. I finished it in a matter of minutes. Even though this is considered Erotica, I was skimming over those parts because they were entirely predictable, scenario and all. Not sure if I will continue with this series, although I will admit that I am interested in seeing what happens with Travis. 2 1/2 stars.
The story of this series focuses on Rafe, alter ego called Storm, and Melanie. He used to he her multimillionaire boss but she left when it got too painful that her feelings for him were not reciprocated. All the time he didn't know how she felt. When not a CEO he's lead guitarist in a rock band. The characters are shallow and dull, nothing about them excites or intrigues me. Striving to attract attention the author combines in one man two popular popular male lead roles, millionaire and rock star but without success; he's so empty. The plot is virtually non existent & feels like just a building block to link unimpressive sex scene to sex scene. (*Empty plot, he feels groin twinge, she leaps on him, he expresses expletives to show excitement, post coital glow*, repeat * to * for 5 books) I finished books 1 & 2 but books 3-5 were DNF (did not finish). This rarely happens, I usually will continue just to see how the story plays out and how characters develop but for the above reasons I was not interested this time.
His To Claim #2 (Savage Kisses) Opal Carew Part two is this series certainly lives up to its name " Savage Kisses." Melanie and Rafe act on their attraction to one another and take things to the next level, sexually , or they would have if they were not interupted by her friend Jessica. Poor Melanie was so close to having her hearts desire, to be that close to the man that she has secretly loved for years. Things are looking up for her though as he presents her with tickets to see his show. His band "Savage Kisses" is playing. Some hot scenes are sure to follow here. She gets caught up in crowd mentality and flashes him (and the rest of the band) her breasts. This heats things up fast and they have quick sex up against a tree. HOT HOT HOT . The only question in her mind is whether she is having hot sex with Storm the musician or Rage the business tycoon? The same man with two different sides, two different names. Part two enhances the characters introduced in part one and again lays the ground work for more awesomeness to come.
So book 2, Rafe (or rather Storm) invites Melanie to one of his shows. She is consumed with watching him play guitar. They have explosive sex right after the show. His band mates invite Melanie with them for drinks. Travis (the lead singer and who also happens to be her best friend Jessica’s brother) starts flirting with Melanie and Storm is not too happy.
Moving forward, Rafe tells Melanie that he doesn’t want (at first) a serious relationship (since he is still a little raw after breaking up with Jessica over two years ago). Yet, he can’t keep her off his mind. Travis meets up with Melanie to talk about Jessica’s wedding, but he also has ulterior motives. He wants want Rafe has. Rafe and Trevor get into a little scuffle over Melanie and she will not be a part of it.
Again, Ms. Carew does not dilly dally with her words, she gets to the point real quick. On to novella 3.

Following on from No Strings the first novella in this series, Savage Kiss starts with us finding out what happened during the cliff hanger ending of the first installment.
Melanie answers the door to Rafe, having forgotten her purse he kindly returns it to her, but will things get heated as they are alone in her apartment, no (booo!) they don't but in the coming days, Rafe invites Melanie to come and see him in action with his band Savage Kiss.
Totally entranced and turned on by his amazing performance they literally get in on straight after the show! Once things have cooled down she meets the rest of the band, one of the members is the brother of her good friend Jessica and he has his eyes set on Melanie, cue extreme jealousy! Roll on installment 3!
Savage Kiss is book n.2 in the His To Claim series, and in this instalment we finally see a bit of action. The chemistry between Melanie and Rafe is undeniable, but is their past relationship preventing them from exploring this further? Maybe, but I'm looking forward to seeing where their own feelings lead them. We also get to meet the other members of Savage Kiss, and I have to say that Travis definitely made an impression! At this point things are really getting interesting... Is there another cock of the walk? Who knows, but I can't certainly stop after an abrupt ending like this one! The only thing that bothered me a tiny bit was the sex talk, as I found some bits off putting, rather than arousing. Nevertheless, Carew has the power to leave you high and dry wanting for more, which I believe it's quite challenging to achieve in such short stories like this one. Great job!
This is the second in the series of six short stories in the His to Claim erotic series.
This continues the story of the relationship between Rafe (aka Storm from Savage Kiss) and Melanie his past employee.
In this part we learn more about Melanie and her relationship with the staff in the coffee shop and Jessica who used to go out with Rafe but who now goes out with Dane, Rafe's brother instead.
At times the reader can become a little confused with what is happening between the characters but as the His to Claim series features some characters from the His to Possess series, I feel that if you've read that seres then certain relationships will be easier to understand.
My thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.
Savage Kiss by Opal Carew is the second novella in her His to Claim series. I was definitely intrigued with the first installment of this series, it was light on the heat and steam but you could definitely feel it brewing up big time.
I wasn't disappointed with this next book. We pick back up with our hottie Rafe showing up on Melanie's front door, returning her forgotton wallet to her. These two know they want each other, and there's nothing standing in their way anymore. Well, besides their own selves anyway.
As this is a such a short novella saying more would take the fun out of you reading it for yourself.
Hellllloooo Rafe???!!!!! Did you not learn anything from Jessica and Dane??? You know why you lost her. Jessica told you! So, Now, Melanie? She is truly in love with you and all you have to say is:
"So I am glad we decided to pursue our mutual attraction". His lips brushed hers. "I am glad you picked me. For that wild, and crazy fling you talked about."
seriously!!! What!! Ok? I am sorry had a bit of a rant there. Well, let's see if he wises up at the end of this!! She feels an attraction to his band mates and with a little rivalry with Travis. Jessica has one HOt LOOKING bro!!! I like where the author is going with this. Good JoB!!! Bellesa!!!
I received this ARC from the publisher via Net Galley for an honest review. Thank You, Net Galley!!
Ok! Yeah! now this is when the story starts to get interesting. Rafe and Melanie give into their mutual attraction and have a steamy night of hot sex. Unfortunately for Melanie Rafe tells her he's not looking for a commited relationship. But he does want to keep seeing her. Her hopes a bit crushed she decides to keep seeing him knowing when it ends her heart will be broken. what will he do when another hot rocker decides to try and win Melanie over. Hopefully Rafe wakes up sooner rather than later. Looking forward to the next one, I think because of the horrible break up with Jessica Rafe is scared of feeling anything for Melanie only to lose her too. Maybe he should have more faith in her and himself. Can't wait to see how this all plays out
Opal writes awesome stories. Her people are so real. Although there are a lot of Billionaires in books out there, her plots are honest. Melanie worked for Rafe after his father died. Then he had run from work to join a rock band, Savage Kiss. Melanie left her job to work in a coffee shop. Rafe comes comes home and gives her concert tickets to see him play with Savage Kiss again. With not being her boss, they get together. She is hooked on him and he tells her he doesn't want a relationship. Can't wait to see how this works out! The love scenes don't leave much out. Just thought to give you a warning.

4 JEALOUS HOT STARS
Ohhh, now it's getting hot and heavy. Storm aka Rafe invites Melanie to hear his band. She pushes the edge with some risky and role playing behavior, which is kind of HOT! But soon Rafe says he just wants a casual thing. Is that what he really wants? That's now how he acts when Travis, lead singer of hie band Savage Kiss and Jessica's brother, also shows interest in Melanie.
