Dashing Through the Fear

Rate this book
From USA Today bestselling author Amanda Siegrist comes a brand new series. An intense holiday romantic suspense that will make you swoon and hold you on the edge-of-your-seat until the very end.

Welcome to Sleighville. Where you are sure to have a holly, jolly time.

Running is her only option. He made sure of that. Where better to run to than the last place he’d ever think to look for her. Sleighville. A small, quaint town that celebrates Christmas—every. Single. Day. Just the thought makes her want to puke, but she’s out of options. Nothing prepared her for small-town camaraderie. Everyone knowing everyone and everything. Where she lives, where she works, and worst of all…they know something is off. That she’s not who she claims to be.

Griffin isn’t sure what to make of his new neighbor, but one thing he does he can’t resist a puzzle. She’s skittish, wary, and one of the most beautiful women he’s ever met. It’s not hard to fall for her, which is bad. He has no doubt she’s hiding something—or hiding from something. If only she’d let him in, trust him with her secrets. No amount of Christmas cheer is going to sway her his way, but patience and time might. Problem is, he fears he doesn’t have much time. She’s one step away from running. No doubt not her first time, but he’ll do whatever it takes to make sure she stays right where she is. In his town, and in his arms.

I’m a USA Today Bestselling Author that loves to write contemporary romance and romantic suspense novels, although I am partial to romantic suspense. I even dabble in paranormal. Honestly, I love anything that has to do with romance. As long as there's a happy ending, I'm a happy camper. And insta-love…yes, please! I love baseball (Go Twins!) and creating awesome crafts. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, working in that field for several years before I became a stay-at-home mom. I have a few more amazing stories in the works. Welcome to Sleighville. Where you are sure to have a holly, jolly time.

Sure, the title for Dashing Through The Fear by Amanda Siegrist gave me that shivery feeling of trepidation, but the cover added the extra ‘dash’. Not just with the content, that gave me a warm, cozy feeling, mixed with fear, but the font was a perfect fit.

I do love small towns, where everyone knows your business. Some of the time it adds a fun element to the story, other times it gives a character others to turn to in times of trouble…and ‘Eve’ will need all the help she can get. First, with a place to live, then a job.

She, literally, runs into Griffith and she will find it hard to avoid him, since he lives next door and is the chief of police of Sleighville. Who would imagine a hunkalicious guy like him would have a pet like Walter., but they are a great fit. Walter is a cat with one eye and half a front paw. Critters add a little something extra to every story, for me.

No one knew why the rental property had such a high turnover rate. Hmmmm…

Eve’s job search is a success, getting hired at Noel’s Cafe. She had worked in a bakery before, so I have a feeling this, along with other things, will be a perfect fit.

Mystery, suspense, thrillers like Dashing Through The Fear by Amanda Siegrist is predictable, but she always manages to create characters that wiggle their way into your heart and a surprise or two along the way. Gaslighting and psychological warfare are only two of things that Eve will have to deal with. There is also the past that she so desperately tried to leave behind. I love how she, eventually, solves the problem. Very nice, Amanda.

I love that we have two mysteries going on at the same time and I didn’t realize it…until Amanda Siegrist showed me, though it was right in front of my face. That’s always a good sign of a well written story., keeping me so busy reading, I forget to try and solve the crime. Actually, those two mysteries apply to Eve, while Griffin has his own issues that hit very close to home. I love that miscommunication never reared it’s ugly head. Will they come together, healing each other? Of course. It wouldn’t be a great romance if they didn’t. I don’t feel like I’m spoiling anything, because it’s pretty easy to figure out in romance novels…unless we don’t have a happy ending and Amanda doesn’t write those. LOL

A fun note – I was reading along…and there was my name, Sherry. It’s always fun to see my name in a novel, even if I am only a minor character.

Normally, a story like Dashing Through The Fear by Amanda Siegrist is predictable, and, yes, some of it was, but there is a sense that something is coming. It’s just a matter of what and when, keeping a sense of trepidation lurking throughout the pages. Thanks, Amanda, for another very entertaining story.

Eve (h), on the run from an ominous past and seeking refuge, finds an unlikely sanctuary in the Christmas-themed town of Sleighville. Despite her apprehensions about the festive atmosphere, she forms connections with the townsfolk, especially Griffin (H), the Chief of Police. The attraction between Eve and Griffin, the town's Chief of Police, sparks despite Eve's guarded nature. Griffin's determination to protect her adds depth to their blossoming relationship. Eve's fears and the danger lurking around her resonate throughout, adding an edge-of-your-seat quality to the otherwise cheery Christmas-loving Sleighville creating an intriguing dynamic. The small-town camaraderie, the blossoming romance, and Eve's struggle to conceal her secrets build tension, offering a compelling mix of holiday cheer and suspense. The blend of romance, suspense, and a festive backdrop keeps you guessing, unveiling unexpected twists that makes for a gripping read.

What or who was Eve running from and why did she choose the small town of Sleighville as her new home? Amanda Siegrist answers these questions and more in the first book in her brand new series, “Dashing Through the Fear.” Eve did everything she could to cover her tracks as she set forth on her journey to freedom. She longed for a world where she didn’t have to look over her shoulder all the time or worry that any day could be her last. Choosing a Christmas themed town was not at the top of her list and she hoped she could deal with all the festive decorations and annoying Christmas carols. Having the Chief of Police as her neighbor was a win for her but could she stop herself from falling for someone as wonderful as Griffin? Eve was afraid that her troubles would follow her and destroy the new life she had made for herself. She loved her job, her new friends, and the feeling that her life could only get better in the quaint town of Sleighville. Griffin, as the Chief of Police, took a vow to serve and protect and when it came to Eve, he would do whatever it took to keep her safe and make her smile once again. Ms. Siegrist knows how to keep her readers guessing and even though I thought I knew who the villain was, the unexpected plot twist took me completely by surprise!

Another well written book from Amanda. This book contains excitement, sadness, mystery, and romance. Eve is hiding something and Griffin wants to find out. The more Griffin is around Eve the more feelings he has for her. The mystery is Eve thinks someone is breaking into her house, who is it or is her mind playing tricks on her? Couldn't put down until finished. Very good read, highly recommend.

Dashing Through The Fear is the first book in the new Sleighville series by Amanda Siegrist. An intense holiday romantic suspense with all the swoon yet on the edge-of-the-seat page-turner until the very end. Dashing Through The Fear is fast-paced from the start, moves quickly with intriguing plot and mystery that will have reader invested in characters and storyline. This author has brought another fantastic, thrilling, compelling, gripping and raw storyline. Dashing Through The Fear is deeply emotion-charged, full of tension, mystery and suspenseful story with romance and enough Christmas cheer.

Eve is on the run from her sinister past, covering her tracks and changing her identity. This is how she found herself in a small, quaint town Sleighville that celebrates Christmas—Every. Single. Day.
Griffin is the chief of police in Sleighville. When he meets Eve, he isn’t sure what to make of his new neighbor yet he can't resist solving an enigma she is. The only thing Griffin is sure of is that she is running away from something or someone because he can sense it in her eyes.
Nothing could have ever prepared them for meeting each other and the amount of the attraction they feel. Griffin and Eve will steal your heart. Their connection is instant. She brings out his softer side, protectiveness and possessiveness. Griffin wanted to be her protector and confidant, someone who she could completely trust. I felt the anticipation and their build up while trying to confront their past and demons while staying safe from the new threat.

Such a well-written, enjoyable, fast paced story with an engaging plot and dash of danger that kept my attention at all times and couldn't put down. So excited for the next one.

This is book one in The Sleighville Novel series and it is Griffin and Eve’s story and what a great start to a new series and definitely a must read. Eve was on the run and had to change her disguise, name and keep changing locations so that she couldn’t be found and had now arrived in Sleighville where she had rented a house hoping that she could hide her identity and past while hopefully start a new life because she knows that if he finds her he will kill her to get what he wants but what she wasn’t expecting was to meet Griffen and feel so much but unfortunately Eve was always ready in case she has to run again and trust was a big issue to her. Griffen is the chief of police in Sleighville and when he meets Eve he knows that she is running away from something or someone because he can see how afraid she was by looking into her eyes and how jittery she was and how she seemed to just retreated into herself so Griffen knew that there was a story there and he needed to gain her trust so that he could keep them all safe. When Eve start to see things happening in her house and then her past arrives putting everyone that she cares about in danger Eve decides to run yet again because she knows just what can happen but then she gets an idea that could could stop everything but also it could mean her life was at stake. Griffen is heartbroken that Eve had left but he has bigger problems to deal which he needs to solve himself and hope that Eve can keep herself as safe as possible. Wow I absolutely loved this story with all it’s twists and turns that had you turning the pages to see what would happen next and what the outcome would be and my heart broke with everything that Eve had gone through in her life and all because of greediness and Griffen and Eve were so perfect for each other and you could feel there love coming of the pages and I am so glad that the good eventually got rid of the evil so that Eve and Griffen could have the happiness and future that they both deserved. I can’t wait to read the next book in this amazing series.

- Starting over
- Small town

I am a huge fan of this author's. Her stories are full of complex storylines and compelling characters.

This story is set in the little town of Sleighville, which celebrates Christmas year round. Eve chose this town to hide in and is surprised at how welcoming everyone is. She meets her neighbor, police chief Griffin, and worries how she'll maintain the cover story she has adopted as part of her escape.

Griffin senses there is something more to the story Eve spins. He is determined to figure it out, but wants her to tell him in her own time. He befriends her and begins to have feelings for her. He wants Eve to know he will protect her from whatever is happening.

Eve has been looking over her shoulder for so long that she isn't sure if she can trust Griffin or his sister Julie, who owns the cafe where Eve found employment. After a few months, she finally trusts them enough to tell them her tale. But will they be able to protect her?

This book kept me guessing and I was thoroughly invested in the story.

A suspenseful thriller in Sleighville! Eve packed a bag and is running in fear for her life. After multiple bus rides, she arrives in the town of Sleighville. Eve is positive she will not be found here since she despises being cold and has never been a fan of Christmas. Of course, trying to fly under the radar in a small town is impossible and before she knows it, she has been taken under the wing of her new boss, Juliet at Noel’s Cafe and of her brother, Griffin, who just happens to be the Chief of Police. Just when Eve is at her happiest, involved in a wonderful, caring community, her worst nightmare has come true. Will Eve have to run again or can she stay and fight for the happiness she deserves?!? I highly recommend this wonderful holiday read!

Welcome to Sleighville where it is Christmas and merriment all year round. Pleasant and friendly residents, butsecrets are hard to keep in this familiar community.
Eve is on the run, hiding from her abuser and cautious about everything and everyone. Her secret is huge and shame settles over it all. Griffin is her landlord and local police chief. Eager to help, eager to protect and eager but cautious to love. A lovely couple, but they need to be honest and understanding of each other and Eve does not do that easily. Drama and threats amongst the close residents of this small town.

Very excellent read. This book is intense at times. Very suspenseful, lots of mystery to be solved and a forever love slowly building.
Eve shows up in a small town called Sleighville running from a very dangerous past. This town is full of Christmas cheer year round. Luckily she meets her neighbor Griffin who is very protective and loves to solve puzzles. And from her skittish behavior she is definitely a puzzle that needs to be solved and in great need of protection.
Amanda is a wonderful author. This book is a must read. You will be on the edge of your seat one minute and then you will be filled with heartwarming gratitude the next. I highly recommend this book

This was an engaging and exciting read set in the charming town of Sleighville. I loved the small town and the characters who live there and really look forward to more stories in this new series. For this series starter we follow the brewing romance between the Chief of Police, Griffin, and Eve, the mysterious and guarded new woman in town. Their story was heartfelt and emotional, and filled with suspense, steam and swoon. A gripping read that enthralled me to the very end.

I always love Amanda Siegrist's Christmas stories and this one had much more suspense and surprised me and definitely kept me on the edge of my seat.
Eve is on the run from someone from her past and finds herself in Sleighville, a town known for Christmas, a holiday which she hates. She is wary of the small town and hesitant to trust anyone, but she feels safe with Griffin. Griffin is attracted to Eve but senses she is hiding from something or someone. Can he get her to open up and trust him? Do they have a chance at a relationship, or will Eve run again?

Even though I don't like Christmas at all......I do like novels in which something really happens and is not just about constructive love. And there's enough going on in this story that you'll be drawn in when you read about Eve's flight to Sleighville.
Eve is very careful not to stand out and not let others know her. But she has not counted on Griffin who slowly manages to find a way to her heart. But can she trust him with her past?

A wonderful story that leaves you wanting more.

An edge-of-your-seat holiday romantic suspense by bestselling author Amanda Siegrist. Eve is on the run, and she lands in Sleighville. A town that celebrates Christmas every day of the year. A town where everyone knows everyone, and everyone knows everyone's business. Griffin is Eve's next-door neighbor and chief of police, and he can tell that she is hiding something. As he tries to figure out her secrets, he can't help but fall in love. This is well written and will keep you guessing until the end. Bonus: book two comes out in December. Yay!.

This book has everything! It has mystery, suspense, angst, humor, lots of heat. I was so caught up in the storyline that I stayed up until one AM reading. It was so worth the tiredness I felt the next day. This commmunity that lives Christmas all year long gives you plenty of holiday feels, but the suspense keeps it from being a Hallmark like book. It was perfect reading for me.

Eve is on the run from a greedy mad man who will take her out to get what he wants. Sheriff Griffin and the people in her new town give her reason to hope, but is that enough to protect her from him? Add in an additional sicko who plants hidden cameras and my anxiety would be through the roof if I was Eve. This was a steamy nail bitter of a start to a new romance series.

This is a touch different from other stories I have read by this author. It was a bit of romance, suspense and holiday cheer. The story is about Eve and Griffin. She is escaping and runs to the small town of Sleighville where she meets Griffin, Chief of Police. This is such a good read that I enjoyed every bit of. Love the characters and the intriguing plot.
