Catching Feelings

Rate this book
I accidentally hooked up with the guy I despise. A mistake I’d love to forget…except now he’s my new roommate.
Reese Landry is Orleans University’s arrogant, All-Star catcher.
And I’m the one girl he can’t seem to catch.
If anything, it only makes him want me more.

He’s disgustingly rich, stupidly charming, and everyone loves him.
Except me.

But then life throws me the ultimate curveball: He’s my new temporary roomie.
I thought it was going to be easy, keeping him at a distance.
Turns out, I was wrong.

He’s nothing like the cocky, rich playboy that I thought he was.
I told myself one more time wouldn’t hurt.
We promised to keep things casual, no strings attached.
But soon lines blur, and he somehow becomes my only safe space to land.

And now, we’re catching feelings.

Catching Feelings is book 2 in the Orleans University series and can be read as a complete standalone.

Catching Feelings is a college sports romance full of humor, steam, and banter! Viv and Reece are so lively and cute together; they brought out the best in each other and it was so sweet how they came to lean on one another. While I'm a big fan of hate to love, in the beginning of the story I hated how Viv was so mean to Reece simply because he was wealthy and she was financially struggling. But, I do think it developed their relationship well and led to so much banter and trust between them as Viv opened up and confided in Reece about her problems. Maren Moore knows how to write her men; Reece was so charming and devoted to giving Viv anything she could every need. The man absolutely worshipped the ground she walked on and it was so endearing how Viv came to realize just how much he loved her.

Rip me, death by Maren’s smut.
What a fucking way to go.

Does ANYONE HAVE A BUCKET OF ICE WATER? Dump it on me. I am UNWELL, PEOPLE.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that Maren has me in a vice grip by the damn nipples. Homerun Proposal was a fav last year and I’ve been waiting, sorry DYING for Reese & Viv. I thought nothing could top Lane and Hallie, (they will always be my babies) but Reese had me foaming at the mouth. Like I’m not entirely sure what process Maren preforms when she’s writing these men, but holy fuck they’re so perfect I want to punch a goddamn tree. Like, repeatedly.
I know this story was extra personal and I just wanted to flat out say I was obsessed with every single last word. Can I just say it was really fucking nice to see a girl that gives everything to everyone and always puts herself last—get put first? Reese truly is a man obsessed and he shows Viv that if he wanted to, he goddamn would. Per usual I could not put this down. Maren’s writing comes with a side of crack, and I devour her books every damn time. This was beautifully written with perfect amounts of emotion, spice, and humor. Mwah. Chefs kiss baby

if only we all could be devoured by a man like Reese Landry. The man lives for pussy. And I for him. That is all folks, goodbye

This was such a fun roommates, hate to love romance! The hate to love was one sided (from the heroine) and I actually really loved how hard the hero had fallen for the heroine by the start. The prologue was super spicy where the characters have a really hot hookup and then the heroine never wants it to happen again. Then, she's in need of housing because her mom needs all of her money to pay the bills. The hero hears this and his parents are wealthy, so he has a house to himself, and he offers for her to take one of his rooms. She reluctantly agrees, so it's forced proximity. I really liked their banter and their push and pull. I would have loved to see some more baseball since the hero is really good and definitely going to be drafted after school is over, but I did love how we got a scene of the heroine going to a game with someone else's jersey on.

I did love the heroine and how much she was dealing with as her mother is still grieving the loss of her dad and the heroine really doesn't have the space to grieve as she tries to take care of her mom. She has so much going on and the hero makes her feel taken care of and loved in a way she hasn't experienced in a long time.

There was a third act conflict I didn't *love*, but overall this was such a fun roommates romance between two characters who have a ton of chemistry that just can't resist each other!

I want my own Reese! 🥹😍

I don't know how to review this and express how much I loved this story or the heartwarming scenes that have happened here. This made me laugh, swoon, cry, and giggle, but most importantly, it made me hopeful. Even if it seems like things are hard and out of control, it won't be like that forever. Brighter and more positive things are always bound to happen, and it's okay to ask for a helping hand when we can't do it on our own anymore.

I loooove Reese (22) and his patience, understanding, support, dedication, and all consuming love for Viv. This guy, istg, is way too good and too perfect, but there are zero complaints here. 🤭 I really adore how much he's down so badly for her and that he's all in the moment he met Viv. He's determined to show her how much he cares, and he's never fazed by her prickly attitude and sassy mouth. While other guys might run for the hills when they encounter someone like Viv, Reese took everything in stride and refused to be pushed away by Viv's snippy quips. The things he did for her were just so freaking swoony 🥰 She's one lucky girl, that I am sure.

As for Viv (18/19), I have to admit that it took me awhile to fully understand her. Not that she's a difficult character, but because I haven't experienced the things she's going through, I can only imagine the hardship of trying to stay afloat while the sadness and grief are eating her away.

She handles everything on her own, proving a strength and selflessness that only comes from not wanting to burden the people she cares about with her problems. Viv always puts other people's needs first, and it's quite hard to read her slowly drowning in her own problems. She's not used to letting people in, sharing her grievances, and being vulnerable. Hence, she pushes away Reese on numerous occasions because she finds it too much to take when he offers to help all the time.

But it was also amazing to see her learn to accept help and enjoy life as a normal college student. When she finally realized that Reese only meant the best for her, she eventually gave in and slowly opened up to him. While there's a lot of ups and downs in her learning journey, and there are times she's being difficult and will lash out at Reese, I still see her efforts to apologize quickly when she knows she hurt him unintentionally.

I liked that she's learning to rely on other people and openly confessed that she needs a little grace and patience because she's not used to doing it. I just think it's such great character development for her to step out of her comfort zone and do things that she has never done before.

I love the relationship between Viv and her mom. It has been a trying time for the both of them, but it is still heartwarming to see that they hold on to each other and are willing to put in efforts to change their situation. Their scenes made me cry a lot, and I really felt the love between them and how much they wanted the best for one another. I'm proud of her mom for doing her best to live and finally getting the help that she needed.

I think it's lucky if we ever find friends like Viv has here. She has a great support system, and people who'll always have her back. Though it took her quite some time to see that for herself, I'm still happy that she eventually did.

Overall, this is a good story. I love the friendship, the family aspect, and especially the romance. I didn't expect to end up loving this so much, but I'm glad that I read it. 💖

this was like every other college sports romance i’ve ever read. 🙄

one half of the couple (fmc) is a poor college student who has a traumatic experience in their past relating to a parent and ends up taking all the responsibility in caring for the other parent. too many responsibilities, too little money. the other half (mmc in this case) is a rich boy with no problems. major baseball star that’ll be drafted 1st, gets all the girls… yada yada yada saves the day

nothing spectacular and i skimmed most of it tbh. 🤷🏽‍♀️

“sweet tart”??? 🥴🥴 gag me.

i got sick of the back & forth, bitchiness of the the fmc (i can’t even remember her name lmao) reese did nothing to her and she was just rude for no reason. taking her anger and problems out on him and the dude just TOOK it. annoying

also can we talk about her only being in her freshman year but she’s old enough to drink (i can’t remember if she actually buys an alcohol so she may be 18/19 but w/e) and PUBLISHES A SUCCESSFUL AF BOOK at what 19/20 (in the epilogue) lmaoooo okay

If there’s one thing I can guarantee, it’s that if Maren writes it, I’m going enjoy the heck out of it, and what a fine piece of cliterature this was 😂
Honestly that prologue had me hooked and sweating!

Reese and Viv, woah, those two are unhinged, hot, hilarious but undoubtedly so good together! There were so many sweet and cheesy moments but also some really lovely vulnerable moments between them which made them incredibly loveable ❤️

My sweet Viv with the weight of the world on her shoulders, her journey was so sweet to see, finally realising it’s okay to lean on other people, ask for help and letting Reese in to be there for her. Reese is my new favourite cinnamon roll man, he can do no wrong, he is attentive and caring and obviously looks great in a pair of baseball pants with those catcher thighs 😉

If you loved Homerun Proposal you will no doubt love Catching Feelings 💜

“Tonight made me realize that you run when the world gets to be too much, but I’m coming after you, baby. I’ll chase you to the ends of the goddamn Earth.”

An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review.

Viv and Reese are part of the same friend group, and it’s known to everyone that they can’t stand each other. What isn’t known, though, is that they’re attracted to each other and hooked up months ago.
Vivienne Brentwood is an amazing and strong young woman who’s been silently dealing with a lot by herself ever since she lost her dad years ago, while caring for and prioritizing everyone else – mostly her Mom. She’s also a dreamer and is currently writing her first book. Reese Landry, the catcher of Orleans U’s baseball team, could be easily perceived as the typical rich, spoiled guy – a mistake Viv committed herself – but he’s actually the sweetest, most caring, and supportive man ever.
While going through a tough family moment, Viv is offered and accepts to live with Reese, and from the moment they become roommates, things start to happen happen. Their relationship has a quick and cute development. They’re fun, lovely and make so much sense together. I loved how the author worked on their feelings, how they learned about each other and what they felt, plus how they trusted and were able to lean on each other.
Catching Feelings had me hooked up from the beginning. It’s full of funny moments, cute scenes, steam, and good friendships (and by that I mean, I loved seeing Hallie and Viv’s friendship throughout the book.) It’s also kinda fast-paced, though, and with all the time passing, some stuff felt just “thrown” into the story, but it was still understandable. Overall, it's an enjoyable experience and a great book, and you should definitely read it!
Thanks, Valentine PR, Maren Moore, and the publisher for giving me an ARC and the opportunity to read the book.

3.5 stars! Catching Feelings is the second book in Maren Moore’s Orleans University series and this one is a forced proximity/roommates, college sports (baseball) romance!

I loved the first book, Homerun Proposal, so I was so excited to see Viv and Reese’s story! First off the intro in this one! 🥵🔥 What a start to the book! Reese and Viv are part of the same friend group, while everyone knows they can’t stand one another…no one knows they actually hooked up a couple months ago! 👀 Viv ends up finding out her mom needs financial help and she’ll be without housing for the upcoming semester. Reese overhears and offers up her becoming his roommate! Since the offer is too good to resist, Viv takes it but tells Reese they need to stick to boundaries…but of course that doesn’t last long and soon they become roommates with benefits!

The beginning of this really grabbed my attention and was so fun and cute. Things do start to move pretty quickly after that though with a lot of time passing and the moments thrown in did kind of feel almost like random quick scenes that didn’t really tie together completely (a ball, a private jet trip, a tropical vacay, him adopting a cat and becoming an obsessed cat dad, her wanting to become an author, her mom, etc). I just didn’t feel super pulled to these moments or the couple. I really loved the first book and while this one just didn’t hit the same for me, it’s still an easy and fun time!

Moments I liked: his phone convos and close relationship with his sister, breakfast with notes, all the Hallie + Lane time (the couple of Homerun Proposal), the possessiveness (from both of them), Mardi Gras ball, his wanting to spoil her, he calls her “Sweet Tart”, he adopts a kitten all because she said she grew up always wanting a cat!

I received an ARC, all thoughts in this review are my own.

what happened to hello ?? how are you ??! smut in the prologue, ring the alarm !!!! anyways it was so hot, i loved it.

i enjoyed this one more than the first book of the series, imo ! i loved getting to know viv and reese alongside them, seeing their layers slowly peel back for each other until they were major goners.

very very sweet (and spicy) story that was a great fluffy palette cleanser !

Are you a fan of the trope "He Falls First and Hard"? Well, let me tell you, nothing beats how intensely Reese fell for Viv from literally page one. I SWEAR PAGE ONE. 💜

First of all, let's talk about that prologue—definitely one of the hottest I've ever read! 🔥 I mean, I was practically steaming just from the first few pages. So, fair warning, this book is spicy! It perfectly captures that messy college "don't get caught" behavior that always gets me swooning in a book.

Reese, the catcher of the baseball team, is head over heels for Viv. However, Viv wants nothing to do with a "spoiled" and "rich" guy who seems to have it easy in life, especially as she continues to struggle financially. But everything changes when Reese offers to be her roommate to help her out AKA that's the ultimate turn to get this book rolling ⚾ (get it rolling, baseball)

But it's not just about the spice. This book strikes the perfect balance. Alongside the steam, it delves into some hard-hitting topics like grief and the journey of growing up without one parent figure. These elements add depth to Reese and Viv's story, making it even more beautiful ✨

Fav quote: “I think I told you once that pink was my new favorite color”...“But I lied. I think it might be this exact shade of purple,” he says, eyeing my dress. 🔥

Tropes:
💜One Night Stand
💜Baseball College Romance
💜Enemies to Lovers-ish
💜Forced Proximity (roommates)
💜He Falls First and Hard
💜Founding Family
💜Rich boy MMC
💜Bookworm FMC

Maren Moore's novel Catching Feelings is a dislike-to-love story that centers on the relationship between baseball catcher Reese Landry and librarian Vivienne Brentwood.

Reese mf Landry is the standard. I could talk forever about him and everything he did for Viv, but it would be too much. Nonetheless, I will say that he was a blend of wholesome and hot.

The found family in this was also everything. It was fun to watch the bonds between the hockey team and the crazy things they were up to.

To be honest, I will devour whatever Maren writes since I can't help but be enamored with her writing and characters. Grant's story is the one I hope comes next because I fell in love with him.

Happy release day to Maren Moore and thank you so much for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

It was so good to be back at Orleans University! Catching Feelings follows Viv and Reese and I loved everything about this one. The first one was good but this one was bordering on being a favorite for me. There were a few little things that brought down the rating just a tad (Viv was a BIT mean in the beginning) but overall the banter and the feels and the STEAM was top notch. Maren Moore always delivers and this book was no exception. Reese is TOP TIER book boyfriend material and I couldn't get enough!

Move over hockey, I'm going to be forever in my baseball era. We all know it's the superior sport anyway.

I can't wait to see what comes out from Maren next!

• Baseball Romance
• One Night Stand
• Enemies to Lovers
• Forced Proximity
• He Falls First

This is the second book in the Orleans U series, but can be read as a complete standalone.

I for one was absolutely obsessed Homerun Proposal so my expectations for Catching Feelings were pretty high and ya’ll Maren Moore smashed it out of the park. I could not be any more in love with this story and these characters. Reese and Viv are everything. Their banter had me laughing out loud, Reese’s little surprises had me giggling and kicking my feet and the spice…ooof *fanning myself here*
I can’t go on without mentioning my love for Hallie either, her and Viv have such a special friendship that reminds me so much of me and my best friend and truly everyone deserves a friendship like that. Needless to say, I loved this book so much and I will continue to recommend it to everyone until I am blue in the face!

3.5 ⭐️

Catching Feelings, ARC Review 💜👻⚾️

I’ve been so beyond ready to fully meet Viv and Reese and to be back at Orleans U. But I can't get enough of these two; they're so delicious, that they overheated my Kindle.Viv and Reese are two people who have a love we all aspire to have.

My babies, Viv and Reese, now these two are, night and day, form different universes. Viv is a freshman with big dreams who is glued to the hip of her bff Hallie, where they have a unique podcast. Reese is a senior who is in his final year with the Hellcats and headed towards the MBL. Reese is the man that everyone loves. With the exception of Viv, he's infatuated with our girl; he sees she's special. However, Viv's life is turbulent; she is facing certain challenges. Yet, everything changes between them as Viv throws her inhibitions to the wind as they share an Uber and a night of filthy debauchery together. Soon, though, Vivi finds refuge in Reese. Yet, what they share together is explosive, and agree to have a little fun. Have you seen the NSFW art? 👀 As stronger feelings emerge, Reese becomes Viv's world and her salvation, as they can't get enough of each other. This leads to an astonishing life full of desire and devotion, as they discover their soulmate in one another.

Viv, she's my book soulmate. As, she's got Kat Stratford's personality. She's incredible, beautiful, humble, and a black cat loving queen. Oh, and she's a spooky soul, seriously, can we watch ghost hunters together? Although some aspects of her story, hit close to home. Viv and I are the women that pick up the pieces. Reese, allow me to introduce you to my new book husband. He's a bit of a caveman. But, it's been a long time since I've read an MC like Reese. From the way he feels about & talks to Viv, it was refreshing and beautiful. 🥹🖤

With Maren's added touches of southern charm transported us off campus and had me wishing I was making gumbo. I loved hanging out with Hallie and Viv with their shared sisterhood and history. While the epilogue became a forever favorite, I can't wait to buy a signed copy as I wait for book three.

⭐⭐⭐⭐. 25 stars

i will start by saying this is the hottest prologue i have ever read.. like wow. a good time was had. viv and reese love to hate each other and that prologue was excellent.

viv needs a place to stay and it was a classic case of.. 'i have nowhere else to go'.. enter reese's spare room and a forced proximity moment.

i really enjoyed this book, it was a fun read. i wonder if the excitement of the prologue meant that towards the end i was a little, tiny bit bored.. but overall would recommend and i will be reading homerun proposal soon too as lane and hallie were to cute.

there's a microtrope slide because that's my jam and this book was full of them!

thank you to @authormarenmoore & @valentine_pr_ for this arc. edits and opinions are mine, photos are not.

Guess who’s back, back again, Maren’s back, with her men 🤪

….. Her men who are absolutely delectable and have the filthiest mouth known to man but also know how to be the sweetest little cinnamon roll in the universe! 🤭

Reese was a dreammmm. I loved Lane, don’t get me wrong, but there was just something about Reese that won me over immediately. I loved the way he picked on Vivienne- their banter was amazing and had be laughing out loud! I loved the way he cared for her, he was always attentive even when he shouldn’t have been! I loved their silly breakfast puns each morning! I absolutely adored Reese’s love for his mom and sister. He was thoughtful and kind and just so perfect!

Viv was perfect as well! I loved her personality so much. I loved how strong she was while dealing with her mom and the struggles they faced after her dad’s passing. I loved how although it wasn’t her job to, she made sure to take care of her mom and put her needs above hers. I am in love with Viv and Hallie’s friendship. They are the perfect pair and the love they have for each other is so strong and genuine 💖🥹

Overall, I loved it! I knew it was going to be amazing but it really did blow me away with the amount of emotions Maren packed into it. I am beyond excited for Grant’s story and I know we won’t be disappointed with what’s to come!

I’m gagged rn but not like “gagged 💅🏼💋😍” but “gagged 🤢😀🥲”. No one reads a sports romance for logistical purposes (myself included) but I couldn’t get past the fact that instead of taking out a loan to cover housing this girl is randomly offered an entire bedroom free of charge at the star baseball players house? And then he just love bombs her the entire book? And WHY DO THE PARENTS ALWAYS HAVE MASSIVE TRAUMA!!! I tried to have empathy but the mom was driving me up a wall. Someone tell me to give this genre a much needed rest I would appreciate it

Did I enjoy the book ? meh
Would I recommend? umm....

This book had a lot of fluff. as in like "50 pages were excessive ramblings and could've been thrown out" type. Some of the repetitive thoughts of the FMC could've been stopped because it became quick pages to skip. We could've also done without the 18 bitchy moments she has for no reason besides her not knowing how to cause mouth vomit.

I get that the author wanted to convey a distressed freshmen in college with life issues but that doesn't constitute being rude and unforgiving to a bystander that is just trying to help her. That is a clear indication that the author has no idea how to create strong females that are going through an issue in life and how to overcome them instead of pushing them away and exploding on everyone.

The fact that the MMC just stood there and took the lashing was absurd also. I understand this is an occurrence in real life but it's not something authors should be promotion as healthy behavior. If it wasn't for Reese's persistence of her and his strong feelings, then this relationship would've gone NO WHERE because Viv had absolutely no idea how to communicate.

She didn't even know how to tell her best friend what was going on in her life, what type of friendship is that ? a falsified one probably. To not tell your bbf about your major life issues because she is in a "honeymoon state" ? come on now, that's stupid.

The spicy scenes were HOT but it was like 15 chapters each time. Which was constant. I was so tired of Viv saying that she was horny after time number 18. She had no idea how to talk to Reese and communicate what she wants but she knows how to act jealous over someone she has been ignoring and lashing out to for months? typical weak female character.

The only thing that saved this book for me was Reese. He was a gentleman and perfect and love-able. Too bad he was in love with a child. His relationship with Rosie (his sister) was beyond adorable and I'm glad she is in his corner 100%!

Also, let's not ignore the fact that she decided to drop out of college to finish her degree online while she moved to Washington for Reese. like seriously? Are we just trying to keep the stigma that women have to follow men and not be able to make long distance work? even if it's just for two years to get the college experience.

This was so cute and I loooooooved Reese! He was so sweet and I just loved him and how caring he was. Viv though, she frustrated me really really bad. Until 50%, she was just mean and rude to Reese and it was starting to piss me off. Thankfully she apologized, but then again at like 80% she pissed me off again by once again telling Reese he doesn’t have “real problems” simply because he’s got money. She once again apologizes, but I know she still thinks that and so because of her this book gets 4 stars. 5 stars for Reese personally though, he was amazing

I adored this one so much, definitely a new Maren Moore favorite! 💜

I’ve said time and time again that I can always count on Maren’s books for a fun and spicy time because it’s literally so true — and this time was obviously no different! Viv & Reese’s “enemies” to roommates to lovers story was filled with some of the best banter, spice, and sweetness, I just had the best time reading it.

One of my favorite things ever in books is when the MMC is more attracted to the FMC when she insults him and/or gives him attitude (LMAO sorry not sorry), and this book had that down to a T! Viv did not make anything easy on Reese, and, better yet, he liked that about her! But as she slowly let him in, he showed so much patience and care for her that it had my heart wanting to burst. Reese was proudly whipped for Viv and willing to be whatever she needed from him — he was the absolute sweetest, and I loved him 🥹

Overall, I really enjoyed Viv & Reese’s relationship dynamic! And there were some emotional moments that left me loving them even more and wanting to hug them both. Maren truly outdid herself with this one!

Thank you so much to Maren Moore & her team for an ARC of this book! 💌

I have been a fan of Maren for a long time, and every time I think she has outdone herself, she surprises me with another incredible book. Each time I finish one, I am left in awe of her talent. This book is no exception - it is simply amazing.

Reese & Viv were so perfect together omg. I just simply adore Reese and how determined he was to show Reese what she means to him. He’s honestly so loving, caring and thoughtful & then he opens his mouth and . Viv is a strong powerful woman. I admired her strength and how she took care of everyone around. These two were made for each other.

I don't know what magic ingredient she puts in her books, but whatever it is, it works. I am in love with Reese and Viv, and I can't wait to see what‘s next.

Do you ever read a book you love so much that you want to immediately reread it? Because that is me with Catching Feelings. This book is so amazing! I’m obsessed with them! I didn’t think I could love anyone more than Lane Collins lol

💜 College
💜 black cat/ golden retriever
💜 baseball player MMC
💜 fwb
💜 roommates
💜 he’s a simp for her
💜 he loves to spoil her

I am a Maren stan and this just proves why. The hearts on these characters. The found family. The swoony romance. The dirty talk. It’s all perfection.

I’ve never related to a black cat fmc so much. Viv was smart and snarky and so authentic in how she went through life. I love her just as much as Reese who deserves all the forehead kisses.

And OMFG, I’ve talked about this before but “f it” moments are my favorite. When the tension is too much and they go for it. Well this is my favorite one of all time.

Reese Landry, he is very hard to resist swooning for once you meet him…. He and Vivi have such hot spice! The heat levels were sooo high! It’s hard to do it justice!!

The way Vivi’s hatred of Reese morphed into affection and love was so sweet. While she may have had reasons for hating him, but once she saw him underneath it all, the love wasn’t too far behind!

This book wasn’t light on the feels… it was heavy on the swoon-factor, the romance, the spice, but also on the heart-wrenching angst!!

If anything I’ve written so far has yet to convince you, let me just tell you that it literally jumps straight into the pure heat between them. Literally in the PROLOGUE!!!

Thank you Maren Moore for an advanced copy.
