Nu pot să o termin. Abia am reușit să ajung până la pagina 200, nu știu de ce m-am chinuit. Îmi pare rău pentru cei care au dat bani pe așa ceva.

Possibly the most boring book I've ever read. It takes real talent to write a book about sex parties and make it such a tedious reading. It's a waste of time, nothing about her story is special, unique, or even hot.

For once, I am really at a loss to know how to review a book. I can't even say if I really liked it or not. What I can say is that Emma Sayle's memoir about the period in her life when she was first getting her sex club, Killing Kittens, up and running was mesmerizing. Not at all appealing to me. But fascinating. It's not just that she runs these big sex parties where people can orgy and/ or observe to their libido's content. It's also that Emma and her friends are part of that alcoholic wild child contingent of rich British young people (I kept thinking that she sounded like someone who would hang out with Prince Harry. Then I found out she knew Kate before she was a princess. and there you have it.) . I admired her dedication to raising money for charities, and her feminist principles in making a safe, welcoming, non-judgmental place for women to indulge their fantasies just like men can), and her dedication to her family and her (bat-shit crazy) friends. I cringed at her wildly daring escapades, constant and heavy consumption of alcohol, and repeatedly poor relationship choices. I was a little befuddled how she tried to justify her sexual mores in terms of her professed faith.
But here's the thing--I read this book pretty quickly. I found it compulsive and readable, despite the amount of purple prose describing all the beautiful rich people having sex at her events, and herself having sex with any of her many lousy boyfriends. While I probably wouldn't think to recommend this book to anyone, I nevertheless actually think I might have enjoyed reading it. I have zero desire to sit down and have a drink with Emma (She apparently has enough drinks on her own already.), but I got a glimpse of life on the other side of the money divide, at least in London. and they can keep it. :)

Great book
This isn't your average plot line or character for romance/ erotica. Overall, well written and interesting characters. There were a few things that I wish were elaborated on and am hoping there will be a sequel.

Recunosc cinstit că, dacă nu s-ar fi nimerit sa fie cartea ascunsă pentru luna aceasta, cred ca la un moment dat as fi abandonat lectura. Chiar dacă am citit 50 de umbre și seria Crossfire, acelea fiind povesti fictive în comparație cu cea de față, nu mi-a plăcut. A fost totuși prea vulgara pentru mine.
Emma este patroana unui club dedicat orgiilor sexuale, dar cu toate că le organizează în detaliu cu foarte multa strictețe și multe reguli, ea nu ia parte niciodată la ele. Chiar are ghinion în dragoste, și nici pe celelalte planuri ale vieții nu strălucește.
Ma așteptam cumva ca povestea sa fie mai mult despre viata personala a Emmei, nu despre afacerea în continua ascensiune pe care o are.
Contrar însă celor auzite despre cartea asta, cu toate ca de foarte mulți ani nu prea am mai văzut recenzii despre ea, poate fi citita. Și chiar rapid dacă ești familiarizat cu genul.
N-am sa ascund niciodată ca citesc carti de genul acesta uneori. Din curiozitate și din dorinta de a nu fi tentata să judec niște situații despre care cu toții cred ca auzim mai devreme sau mai târziu.
Un lucru pozitiv totuși, pe care l-am apreciat, e faptul ca Emma si-a creat aceasta afacere nu pentru plăcerea bărbaților, ci pentru a femeilor. Se știe foarte bine ca bărbații sunt cei care domina în majoritatea cazurilor din mai multe puncte de vedere și mi-a plăcut ca ea a susținut dorinta și plăcerea femeilor. Ba chiar prin faptul ca a impus reguli stricte tuturor membrilor, a reușit sa tina mereu sub control totul.
Din punctul meu de vedere a fost o lectură ușoară, dar cu siguranță nu este pentru oricine. Pentru mine a fost totuși prea multa vulgaritate, deși sunt conștientă ca ceea ce este descris în carte nu este străin pentru nimeni. Pana la urmă fiecare alege cum își trăiește plăcerea trupeasca, atât timp cât nu ii afectează în mod direct pe ceilalți.

Mare ți-e gradina Doamne și multe cărți ai în ea 🤣🤣🤣
Unele cărți chiar nu ar avea ce să caute pe piață, ori poate am devenit eu prea selectivă / pretențioasă odată cu vârsta?
Aici avem o Emma, o femeie independentă care a trăit cu teama de abandon, cauzată de plecarea tatălui din viața ei ( tocmai din această cauză mi s-a părut atât de puerilă apropierea lor după ani de absență, dialogul lor de la telefon a fost de o absurditate ieșită din comun).
Ea a avut ghinion în relațiile cu bărbații, fiind și abuzată fizic și psihic.
Revenim : Emma are o afacere de succes, care reprezintă un club al plăcerilor, unde totul este permis ( și ma refer la chiar tot, deși poți doar și privi), asta după ce renunță la slujba ei plictisitoare de Pr.
Ați auzit de cele 10 porunci?
Si clubul Emmei are 10 porunci, toate în avantajul femeilor.
Avem măști, reguli, jucării, fantezii, sex mult. Prea mult.
Si Emma suferă după Aiden, care se mută în Australia și nici un bărbat nu o mulțumește pe deplin 🙄🙄🙄
Cartea se vrea a fi erotică, dar mi s-a părut vulgară, adică povestea de viață a Emmei reprezintă cam 15% din carte în timp ce restul reprezintă detaliile partidelor/petrecerilor sexuale.

O carte din care nu poti extrage, neaparat, invataturi sau sfaturi. E mai mult o carte autobiografica, in care autoarea isi expune amintirile, dorintele si, in cea mai mare parte, viziunea ei despre sex. Dupa parerea mea, nu exista un inceput si o incheiere, totul vine fad si pleaca in acelasi mod. Prietenia, insa, e conturata frumos, Emma are parte de amici care sunt intotdeauna acolo pentru ea si este norocoasa sa-l aiba alaturi pe Aidan, iubitul angelic si potrivit gandirii ei. Recomand aceasta carte daca sunteti in vacanta si vreti sa cititi ceva lejer, life-style.

Emma is the owne of a posh sex club women make the rules. She goes through a few challenges but always makes it Through. I just wish it would of ended with showing her happily eve after that she wanted other then just feeling at peace with everything. Like why not just be with aiden or how did things go with silver fox.

Va spuneam ca m-am indragostit de colectia Eroscop si am terminat astazi "In Spatele mastii". EU ii acord 5 stele cartii pentru modul cum este scrisa si pentru detalierea scenelor erotice. Mintea te poarta in cele mai ascunse ungheze unde dorintele sunt in faza incipienta... O recomand doar daca sunteti open mind ...

Behind the Mask is a true story, a memoir, by Emma Sayle and her secret life. Emma grew up in an ordinary family with a doting mother and father and two siblings. She never really wanted for anything, but she craved her father’s attention. Growing up she went to the BEST schools and made some very close, long-lasting friendships. Upon adulthood, she took a boring office job until she was invited to attend a wedding where it was anything but ordinary. Guests left their inhibitions at the door and explored each other with passion and anonymity. Realizing that most sex clubs, companies, movies, etc, are run by men for men, Emma created Killing Kittens – a club where women make the rules and men must be invited to participate. She hosts monthly parties where guests must be members and they must wear a mask to be allowed entry. At these parties the guests can choose how or if they want to participate – by watching, touching, and doing.
While business is flourishing, Emma’s personal life is anything but. She finds out the man she has been seeing has also been seeing a fellow club member. Her father leaves her mother for a much younger woman, draining their joint bank account to lavish the new woman with gifts. When she does find someone to be with, things find a way to fall apart. Eventually, she is beaten and abused by a man she trusted and begins to question what she does wrong.
Eventually, the parties start to spiral downward and things aren’t going as well as they once were. Emma’s entire life takes a turn for the worse and she is not sure how to handle it all.
I found this book to be incredibly sexy and very interesting. The Killing Kittens goings on are very graphic – like reading a really good erotic romance novel! It’s almost hard to believe that these things are based on real life, yet they are and probably happen more often than not in today’s world. The things the author has been through and the way she built up her company, all while not “playing” during the parties is fascinating and admirable. This book reads more like an erotic romance than a memoir, which is great at holding the reader’s attention. I enjoyed it a lot and am glad I gave it a try.

O poveste fără inhibiții, ce o are în prim plan pe Emma, o tănără în vârstă de 28 de ani care deține un club celebru pentru petrecerile sale decadente, a căror obiectiv vizează stimularea și oferire de plăceri fizice femeilor. Odată cu lăsarea întunericului, în locuri cât mai exclusiviste și în spatele măștilor, toate dorințele și fanteziile ascunse ale membrilor clubului ies la iveală, manifestate într-un erotism de nestăvilit.
Emma privește aceste petreceri strict ca pe o afacere, fără a participa în mod activ la acestea, mulțumindu-se doar să coordoneze și să observe mulțumirea și sentimentele de plăcere de pe chipul clienților săi. în ciuda faptului că lunea o judecă pentru afecerea pe care o conduce, acesta nu se lasă afectată de bârfele care o înconjoară, fiind mai mult decât încântată de realizările ei. Cu toate acestea, singura ei decepție o reprezintă faptul că nu reușește să găsească pe cineva care să o aprecieze pentru persoana care este și nu pentru trupul ei.
Despre carte pot spune că este o lectură ușoară și interesantă, presărată cu momente picante și personaje cât se poate de reale. Dacă alte cărți abordează ca subiect dorințele fizice ale bărbaților, “În spatele măștii” prezintă un univers opus, în care femeile sunt în centrul atenției.

Ma asteptam ca povestea sa fie sexy si sa ma tina in suspans, sa ma atraga... (vezi seria Strainul seducator), insa pe cuvant ca abia am dus-o la bun sfârșit. Slabuta si mi s-a parut prost scrisa... fara sare si piper.
Sex, o tipa nesigura pe ea dar care are o afacere ce se invarte in jurul sexului... o gramada de prieteni de la super frumosi in sus, mereu excitati si pusi sa-si satisfaca fanteziile... pff... zic pas la aceasta carte. Nu o recomand, decat daca chiar nu aveti nimic altceva de citit ;))))

Just the kind of real-life insight book I like! Itching to know who some of the sex party celebrity guests are but Emma is quite professional about not naming any names. Still, if this book and its descriptions of the fun and games of the sex parties doesn't get you curious...then I would have your pulse checked!

Loved it, really interesting to hear about how Emma came up with the idea and how it all took off for her. Just a shame she couldn't have as much success and happiness in her personal life.

June 4, 2015Not my cup of tea... I quit once, then read a little more about it thinking it would get more interesting and it just didn't. It's more of a biography than anything.
