When Emmett Chambers comes to Lilac Lake to replace Dr. Johnson, the town’s GP, Dr. Johnson asks Crystal, owner of the Lilac Lake Café, to show him around. Emmett is the son of an insufferable ambitious politician who is the reason Emmett has chosen the life of a doctor in a small town, away from politics. Just as the relationship between Crystal and Emmett heats up, Emmett’s mother finds out about it and is furious, deeming Crystal unsuitable for the family during her husband’s presidential campaign. Hoping to allow things to cool off, Crystal spends time at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine doing her usual summer gig as an extra in some of the plays put on there. But when she’s called upon to help Emmett’s mother with a problem there, everything changes for all of them.
Judith Keim, A USA Today Best Selling Author, is a hybrid author who both has a publisher and self-publishes. Ms. Keim writes heart-warming novels about women who face unexpected challenges, meet them with strength, and find love and happiness along the way, stories with heart. Her best-selling books are based, in part, on many of the places she's lived or visited and on the interesting people that she's met, creating believable characters and realistic settings her many loyal readers love.
She enjoyed her childhood and young-adult years in Elmira, New York, and now makes her home in Boise, Idaho, with her husband and their two dachshunds, Kacy and Wally, and other members of her family.
While growing up, she was drawn to the idea of writing stories from a young age. Books were always present, being read, ready to go back to the library, or about to be discovered. All in her family shared information from the books in general conversation, giving them a wealth of knowledge and vivid imaginations.
Ms. Keim loves to hear from her readers and appreciates their enthusiasm for her stories.
This is a sweet escape into a journey to love, second chances, and finding what’s most important in life. A charming and beautifully written romance not without some drama. Great characters that were interesting and easy to relate to. You can't help but have a soft spot for Crytal. I loved reading this heartwarming story and thrilled for more books in Lilac Lake.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Welcome back to Lilac Lake with a new spin-off series from author Judith Keim. For fans of the author, you will be reunited with previous characters, as well as being introduced to new ones. Even though this book can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading the Lilac Lake Inn series to get introduced to all of these amazing characters.
Crystal is proud of who she is today, especially considering how difficult her childhood was. She is a successful businesswoman who owns the Lilac Lake Cafe and has a wonderful group of friends she considers to be family. With her friends settling down and starting families, she realizes she wants a relationship and family of her own.
Dr. Emmett Chambers is new to the town of Lilac Lake. He is taking over for Dr. Johnson who is finally able to retire and move to Florida. Emmett is excited for a fresh start in this small town, away from his family. He wants nothing to do with politics and his ambitious family... but how long can he keep their identity a secret?
The story that unfolds is simply amazing! The characters are so well-written and relatable. I couldn't help but root for Crystal to have her happily ever after, especially after all she has gone through in her life. She definitely deserves to have happiness. As for Emmett, he is trying to escape the pressures of his family, only to have his mom find out about Crystal, and that puts into question their future.
Overall, this was a great way to start the spin-off of the Lilac Lake Inn series. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to catch up with previous characters, as well as meeting new ones. One thing I love about Judith Keim is that she writes from the heart, and Love's Cure is a testament to that.
I received an ARC from the author. My views are my own and are in no way influenced by anyone else.
The little hamlet of Lilac Lake is growing and one of it's new citizens is Dr. Emmett Chambers, who has come to replace long time family Dr. Johnson who has retired. When Emmett is getting to know the town, the one person he is drawn to and would like to get to know more is Crystal who owns the Lilac Cafe'. Where the towns people like to hang out for their coffee in the morning and lunch. She has grown up in Lilac Lake and everyone knows her past, but she has always been good friends with Whitney, Dani and Taylor Gilford and their GG who treated her like one of her own. They know and love Crystal for who she is and so does her ex husband Nick who is now married to Whitney. As both Emmett's past and family's come to light, the two want to be see if they can have a life together, despite the obstacles put in their way. Can love conquer all?
I love Crystal and who she is not who others want her to be and she knows that she has fought to be where she is today, a respected member of the community. She built her business on her own and raised her sister when there was no one else. The people that helped along the way love her. She is one of my fav people in this series. Emmett was attracted to Chrystal from the start, but was he willing to look beyond the purple hair and see her for who she was on the inside. She was willing to do the same for him.
Crystal and Emmett’s story is one of unexpected romance, family drama and letting go of the past. Neither have had much luck when it comes to romance in the past, though both hope to have a loving partner and kids in their future. Their own families are best described as dysfunctional with alcoholism, addiction and promiscuity being prominent issues. Emmett has distanced himself from his political family and refuses to participate in publicity campaigns. He has become a dedicated doctor and taking over a family medicine practice in Lilac Lake is appealing to him for multiple reasons, including a certain beautiful cafe owner.
Crystal has made a successful life for herself with the help of a few compassionate citizens of Lilac Lake. She is a smart, determined and dedicated businesswoman with a sunshiny disposition and very approachable demeanor. Her many friends count on her flair for organizing and planning, as well as her willingness to help wherever she can. She never expected to be attracted to the new, rather reserved doctor, but she cautions herself when she detects that he is hiding something. She can’t tolerate lies or secrets after dealing with her mother’s for far too long.
Their tentative approach to seeing each other, their rapport and chemistry are noticed by the Lilac Lake citizens and unfortunately his mother. While the townspeople and Crystal’s friends play matchmakers, Emmett’s controlling, status conscious mother is determined to keep them apart. Crystal and Emmett find themselves having to navigate through his mother’s interference, deal with their own uncertainties and doubts, as well as trying to not add to the gossip around town. Can they let go of the past in order to forge a new path toward a future together?
The interactions among all of Crystal’s and now Emmett’s friends make this book very enjoyable. They are a found family who tease, advise and support each other, and they count Crystal and Emmett as one of them. I can’t wait to read more books set in Lilac Lake. I highly recommend this excellent book.
Crystal helped raise her sister because her mother was a drug addict and alcoholic, who was unable to. Crystal made sure her sister was fine so no one would take her away. Now they both have risen up from their terrible past. Her sister is a teacher and Crystal owns her own cafe. Thanks to GG, her three best friends’ grandmother who encouraged and helped them to go to college and to succeed. Now Crystal is finally ready to find love and have a family. When the new doctor arrives in Lilac Lake, he’s doing a one year internship and will decide if it’s the place where he wants to practice. The town doctor is ready to retire and hopes Dr. Emmett Chambers takes over. What’s not to love in that quaint little town? They people are friendly and they take care of their own. When he meets the purple haired young woman, he thinks she’s beautiful. The only thing is he has a secret, a big one. He’s the son of a politician, who’s not well liked. Emmett changed his name to he successful on his own. Crystal thinks he has a secret and that makes her not trust him. As she helps decorate his home, they spend more time together and their chemistry is off the charts. Can she learn to trust him when she finds out his secret? Will they see where the relationship goes? What will his wealthy family think of her, especially since she had such a terrible childhood? Will they welcome her? Will he protect her? His mother has someone who she thinks is better for him because of their similar background. Will Emmett and Crystal walk away? Can the two figure it out? The characters are wonderful. Both have to stand up for themselves and their love for each other. Will they be destined to be together? Awesome read. I was so rooting for this lovely couple. Worth the read. I received this book for my honest review. I give it voluntarily.
Judith Keim has done it again! Love’s Cure is spin off of the Lilac Lake Inn series where you met the Gilford sisters and other wonderful characters. I was overjoyed to see that we are once again back in Lilac Lake with old “familiar faces” and lots of new people I would love to meet, in a town I wish I could move to.
Crystal Owen is the proud owner of Lilac Lake Café. She grew up in this small town of Lilac Lake in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Crystal had a rough life growing up as the oldest child of a single, alcoholic, drug addicted mother. Crystal was forced to grow up quickly and raise her younger sister and try to provide a better life for them both. With the help of her wonderful friends (the Gilford sisters) and their grandmother “GG” she had finally achieved her dream of owning a café.
Dr. Emmett Chambers moves into town for a one-year contract to try and decide if he would like to purchase and take over Dr. Johnson, the town’s Family Practitioner’s practice. Emmett has a complicated family life also, and when Crystal is asked by Dr. Johnson to show Emmett around town, they seem to click and become friends quickly. Deep down Crystal feels like Emmett is keeping secrets from her which causes her to be cautious in pursuing anything further with the handsome new doctor. Sadly, Emmett’s parents become involved and try to ruin their budding friendship.
Since I am not one to retell the story, or give spoilers, I will leave it there. As with all of Judith Keim’s books Love’s Cure did not disappoint, If you love small towns, dogs (Pirate and Mindy are back), friendship and sweet romance you are going to love this one too!

Love’s Cure is a Lilac Lake book by Judith Keim. In the first three Lilac Lakes books the three Gilford sisters’ stories are told. The series now takes a new direction as residents of Lilac Lake have their stories told. This story is about Crystal Owen, owner of the Lilac Lake Cafe.
Crystal has always been the responsible one beginning as a ten year old seeing to the needs of her infant sister Mindy. Crystal’s mother was an addict and alcoholic who could barely care for herself and couldn’t seem to leave addiction behind no matter the programs that were tried. But the people of Lilac Lake, in particular Eugenia “Genie” Wittner, grandmother of the Gilford sisters were there to help. Crystal raised her sister and even put her through college to become a teacher. Mindy returns to Lilac Lake from Florida during the telling, escaping an abusive boyfriend.
New to Lilac Lake are Dr. Emmett Chambers, who is taking over the general practice from the retiring doctor, and Dr. Dirk McArthur, just out of dental school and in Lilac Lake to work with his uncle in the hopes of taking over the practice in the future. Dr. Chambers is immediately taken by Crystal, but his uppity mother and senator father find a cafe owner beneath his circumstance. This story follows the relationship as it develops despite pitfalls and while finding answers for his discordant parents.
As with all Ms. Keim’s books, I very much enjoyed this one. Her characters are well written and the twists of fate their lives encounter are always interesting. I do recommend this book!
The fourth book in the Lilac Lake series isn't about one of the three sisters. Instead it's a story about Crystal, the owner of the Lilac Lake Cafe. She has been friends with the three sisters for years and their grandmother, GiGi, helped Crystal deal with an unhappy family life.
Crystal has seen her three best friends fall in love and becoming settled in their new lives. She is divorced but is still friends with her ex and is beginning to wonder if there is a happily ever after in her future. She's a bit restless and not sure how change it. Enter Emmet, the new town doctor who is taking over from the long time doctor in town. He's just graduated and looking forward to practicing family medicine in the small town. He buys the doctor's home and decides to do a lot of renovations. He asks Crystal along with the sisters who have ties to building and decorating homes for help. Crystal is very interested in Emmett but he seems to be hiding a secret and she values honesty so she's unsure if they can have a relationship. Once she finds out the secrets that he's keeping and meets the family who he is estranged from. she understands him better. Can Crystal and Emmet live happily ever after.
I've really enjoyed this series. The characters are all well written and the plots very believable. It's great to meet more people in the town and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. We are back in Lilac Lake. I am so happy that this series did not end with the Gilford sisters. We get to know more of the town and see how they have come together with a lot of people coming back. Our favorite sisters are still out and about. This book focuses on Crystal Owen, owner of the Lilac Lake Cafe, and best friend's with Whitney Gilford. Yes, Whitney is now married to Crystal's ex-husband, Nick Woodruff, but it is not a thing. No animosity at all.
Emmett Chambers is new in town and thinking about taking over the family medicine practice in Lilac Lake. He has bought a house and requested that Crystal and Whitney help with the renovations. Of course, the whole town is involved. Soon Crystal and Emmett grow close, but something is nagging a Crystal about Emmett. Crystal feels like Emmett is keeping a secret. A secret that prevents their relationship from going past the friendship level.
What will happen when Emmett's secret comes to light? Will the town and Crystal accept Emmett now that they know? I really enjoyed getting to know Crystal better. Her background is a tough one that shows how this community works together. Will Crystal be able to get over her fears and let Emmett into her life? We have a few surprises with this one. I can't wait to see what love match we will see next. I love this town and these characters.
Love's Cure is the first book in the Lilac Lake series and I can't wait to be back. Judith Keim is a favorite author who writes contemporary novels with strong female characters along with their perfect match and romance abounds. This is a offshoot series of the Lilac Lake Inn series and it was wonderful to be back in the small town in New Hampshire with so many characters we've met before.
This is Crystal and Emmett's story but they are surrounded by her friends. There are newcomers added to their circle and they all fit right in. Crystal owns the café in town and Emmett is the new doctor. Crystal's sister, Misty has returned home and is helping her out at the café and fits right in.
There are multiple stories being told along with family drama, friendships, small businesses, town activities and more. There are vivid descriptions throughout. There are twists and turns to the story due to the drama but true love wins out even if it takes a while to get there. There is closure with the happily ever after. I look forward to reading the next book to see what everyone is up to and who will be paired off next.
I rated it 4.5 stars but rounded to 5 stars here and on other sites.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Hopeful and Challenging … emotions can be complicated
You’ve heard that curiosity killed the cat… well, there’s a new doctor in town and Crystal is convinced he’s hiding something. Who knows, she might be on to something, but what, just what is Dr Emmett Chambers needing to hide?
This book will tug at the heart in many ways. Crystal wants and needs love but allows past fears to get in the way. Emmett’s past is something he has to deal with too …it’s not only his past but very much his present, a present that very much can and will affect Crystal.
🤔OBSERVATIONS:
✒︎ The new doctor may be color blind but it didn’t take him long to notice Crystal’s beauty…. purple hair and all.
✒︎ A little drama thrown in…not much angst but definitely some good drama.
✒︎ Captivating… emotional…. tense
✒︎ Will the senator have to fall flat on his face like Natalie did before realizing his faults? I want to ‘see’ more of his story. Sometimes the past has to come back to haunt you before change can occur. Now that Natalie is getting help, will she continue to put up with her husband, the senator?
This book is a light, clean romance that takes place in a small town in New Hampshire. It's a new book in a series, but it was spun off from a previous series, the Lilac Inn Series. Many of the characters in this new book span over but the reader doesn't need to have read the previous books to enjoy this book fully.
Crystal had a mother with dependency problems so Crystal helped to raise her sister from the time she was eight yeas old. She now owns a cafe and is very successful. She is happy and has friends. When she finds out that the town doctor will be selling his house to a new doctor, and potentially selling his practice as well, Dr. Johnson asked Crystal to help the new doctor become acclimated to the bustling, but still small town. Both Crystal and Everett have things in their background that they would prefer not to discuss, but circumstances bring everything to the forefront. Can they be happy together? Can they build a life together with interfering forces?
I truly enjoy these light romances, where women stand with each other to support, encourage, and empathize with each other.
4⭐️ Thank you to NetGalley and Wild Quail Publishing for an advanced copy of Love’s Cure.
This book is a spin-off of The Lilac Lake Inn Series. This book follows Crystal who has been a lifelong resident of Lilac Lake and she is also the owner of The Lilac Lake Cafe. She had a very difficult childhood dealing with a mother who was addicted to drugs and alcohol and taking care of her younger sister. She is very independent, outspoken, and free spirited which she has been fine with until she gets a longing to settle down and start a family. She meets the new doctor in town Emmett Chambers and she feels an instant attraction to him but she senses he is hiding something about himself. But they end up bonding over difficult family issues they both have endured but when his family thinks she is not good enough for him she begins to doubt their relationship will work.
I really enjoyed this book. I also read The Lilac Lake Inn Series which I also enjoyed and you do not have to read the other series first but it does give a lot of background on the town and characters. I really enjoy the author and her writing!
Crystal isn’t blood related to the Gilfords of Lilac Lake, but she was part of their friendship circle along with other characters we’ve met there. She loves GG, the girls grandmother and original owner of the Lilac Lake Inn, and often goes to her for advice.
Crystal, divorced but on good terms with her ex, now married to Whitney Gilford, owns a popular cafe in town and is doing well and happy. She’s always been independent, having grown up with an alcoholic mother, so when the new doctor, Emmett, comes to town she is conflicted. Should she pursue a relationship?
Emmett has his own secrets and his mother is overbearing, pushing a family friend on him for appearances sake. He has worked hard to make his own way and not follow his stepfather. Can these two people push aside their upbringing and find a way to each other? It’s definitely worth reading to find out!
Thanks to the author and publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
Crystal loves her life in Lilac Lake. Her cafe is a success. She has wonderful friends. But lately, she feels like something is missing. She wants someone who will love her for herself. She wants a family.
Emmett Chambers came to Lilac Lake to replace the town’s beloved doctor. His family wanted him to become a politician like his father. That is the last thing that Emmett wants. Lilac Lake has the small-town vibe he wants and is far away from his parents and their ambitions. Meeting and starting a relationship with Crystal made them happy until his family heard about it.
Judith Keim is one of my favorite romance authors. I appreciate the way she delivers a sweet romance without needing obscene language to convey emotion. I always feel refreshed and happy after finishing one of her books. This could be read as a standalone but it is even better with all the characters wrapped together in a series. I received an advance copy but my review is honest and voluntary.
We continue the story with Chrystal who although not one of the actual grandchildren of GG is as close as one since GG convinced her to open her restaurant and was there during her life when things got bad and she needed an adults love and concern to make it in the world. Doc has decided that he wants to retire and has offered the new doctor Emmitt Chambers the chance to buy the practice after spending some time in the town and getting to know the clientele. Emmitt asks Chrystal to show him around the town and feelings start to develop only to have Chrystal find out that all is not as it seems with Emmitt's family. Can she handle his mother who doesn't think she is what he should be dating and finding out that his family is into politics and will be scrutinized about everything. Can Chrystal and Emmitt still make their relationship work?.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Thank you to the author for the ARC. All opinions are my own. This is the 4th book in the Lilac Lake series. Although this book is not about one of the 3 sisters, it is the story of their friend, Crystal, who owns the local café. Crystal is Whitney’s best friend and ex-wife of Whitney’s husband, Nick. The 3 sisters make appearances in the book, as well as the much-loved grandmother, GG, who played an important role in Crystal and her sister’s life. Emmett is a new doctor in town who has a troubled family life, much like Crystal’s. They hit it off, but his family turns out to be in politics and they are not happy about his relationship with Crystal. This is a great series, but I do think starting from the beginning is the best way to really understand the characters. Judith Keim does a great job of bringing the characters to life.
I was so hoping Crystal was going to get her own story and of course, this author delivered a beautifully written, heart-tugging story. Emmett is new in town, as he’s going to be taking over for the retiring Dr. Johnson. Crystal owns the cafe in town. Dr. Johnson asks her to show Emmett around and she agrees, but she feels he is hiding something. I highly recommend this story that covers friendships, love, heart-tugging family relationships, secrets, and more. I’m not going to leave any spoilers, but I will say, if you love a great love story you won’t be disappointed. I bet you’ll love most of the characters in this story and dislike a couple, can you say Diana and JoEllen? Grab your copy and see why I’ve loved all the books set in Lilac Lake.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
No better time to be in Lilac Lake than summertime. The old Lilac Lake Summer Group keeps growing as the three Gilford girls back in town and a growing number of the group return to their hometown to pursue opportunities and welcome and assimilate newcomers to their group. A new doctor, Emmett Chambers, asks Crystal, owner of the Cafe, to help him become familiar with the area. While there are certainly vibes between the two, will they be able to find the love of their life despite details of their former lives and family situations? Judith Keim is so adept at creating scenes that makes one dream of the Lake District of New Hampshire and the southern area of Maine and indulge in the nature and food scene of the area. Thanks to the author for an advance reader copy of this book; the review is my honest opinion.
The Lilac Lake series continues with Crystal, owner of the Lilac Lake Café. Emmett Chambers comes to Lilac Lake, to see about moving here for a year, because while going to medical school, he agreed he would work for one year in a rural area. Their GP, Dr. Johnson, is retiring. , there As they get to know each other, there are ups and downs, lessons to be learned, both about themselves, and each other. One thing about Lilac Lake, it is all about family. The one you have, the friends you make, and the family you hope to create. It is such a welcoming place, the connections that are made, and even the connection that the reader feels reading their story. I received an ARC from Judith Keim.
This time we get to know more about Crystal. She faced many struggles growing up with an alcoholic and drug addicted mother. Had it not been for the help of many inhabitants of Lilac Lake, Crystal would not be the successful owner of the Lilac Cafe she was today. When a new doctor, Emmett Chambers arrives in town, Crystal is intrigued by the handsome man but has a suspicion that their backgrounds are too different for them to be anything more than friends. Though their ‘friendship’ has its ups and downs, the author gives her readers a sweet contemporary romance where friendship turns to love and happiness is just a cure away. I voluntarily reviewed this delightful book from the author and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Emmett Chambers arrives at Lilac Lake to take over as the new doctor, succeeding the retiring Dr. Johnson. Moving into Dr. Johnson's former home, Emmett enlists Crystal, the owner of the Lilac Cafe, to assist with renovations. Attraction sparks between Emmett and Crystal, but their budding relationship is challenged when Emmett's mother arrives, disapproving of Crystal. Raised in privilege, Emmett contrasts with Crystal, who raised her younger sister. The 'summer group,' friends now settled in Lilac Lake, welcome Emmett, yet Crystal doubts whether he truly desires the small-town life. As a family friend from Emmett's past comes to town and stirs up trouble Crystal is unsure if Emmett is really interested in her.
Judith Keim has added another book to the Lilac Lake series with the book Love’s Cure. Crystal owns the Lilac Café and has many friends she values so much. There are so many in the village who connect with each other. I could picture the characters and feel how much they care for each other. Emmett Chambers is new to the town when he moves there to take over the position of the longtime doctor when he retires. It’s not long before Crystal and Emmett connect. But Emmett has secrets that may make it impossible for that relationship to go far. I enjoyed this book so much and cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out. Thank you NetGalley, Judy Keim and Wild Quail Publishing for the ARC of the book Love’s Cure. This is my personal review.
Love's Cure is a well written sweet romance between Crystal, the owner of the Lilac Lake Cafe who was raised in a home with an addicted single mother, and Emmett, a new physician who has signed a one year contract to replace the town's physician which will provide him with the opportunity to determine if this town is where he wants to practice. Crystal and Emmett become attracted to one another as she has been familiarizing him with the town, but his mother feels Crystal is beneath Emmett's politically powerful and wealthy family. Their romance has strong independent characters, family drama, and a plot with twists and a great love story.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A continued charming read of the Lilac Lake series. Our main character is Crystal who owns the popular cafe in town. She has an instant mutual attraction to the towns new Doctor but his Mother instantly dislikes her as unacceptable for her son as her family is in politics. A cafe owner will not do for her son. As they work through family problems and careers to be together their attraction only grows. When a crisis occurs it is Crystal who steps up to help. A charming beachy read with a beautiful lake setting. Well crafted characters and endearing ending for readers.
Thank you to Net Galley , the publisher and to the author for the opportunity. My review opinions are my own.
I think Love's Cure was the perfect title for this book, especially since Emmett was the new doctor in town. I liked how Crystal's character grew in this book and she became more assertive. GG helped her with that and did so much more for Crystal and her sister. This was such a fun book to read with romance, angst, and some heartache to keep me turning the pages to find out how the story would end. "Living at Lilac Lake is all about family. The one you have, the friends you make, and the family you hope to create." I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Author Judith Keim always does a great job in giving what the romantic reader wants. This continuing saga series is proof of just that. Her continued characters were inspirational and a delight to read about. The storyline was great in continuing in the same place as Lilac Lake, giving a reassurance of hope and love that continues in each and every book Judith writes. I loved the love between Crystal and Dr. Emmett and were happy they got engaged in the end. Reading about the Gilford sisters and friends is always an inspiration to me, who shows that love and hard work always pay off. Continue to write more Judith, you are an exceptional writer.
This is the fourth book in The Lilac Lake series, and I have enjoyed all of them. We have seen the Gilford sisters get their HEA.
Crystal, who owns the cafe, doesn't think she will ever find someone to love her, because of her background. Then Emmet Chambers comes to Lilac Lake to replace the doctor who is retiring.
Crystal and Emmet are attracted to each other but not sure how to proceed. Will they form a relationship? Or will their past interfere?
I received a free ARC, and this is my honest opinion.
I love this series. It is set in a place where I have spent so much joyful times. Crystal meets the new doctor and they both feel sparks. As their relationship grows, they run into roadblocks, mostly from family. They both had difficult upbringings, and it comes to a head. How they deal with it makes the relationship thrive. The characters in this series keep the friends and family feel strong. I highly recommend this book. I received an advanced reader copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion.
