In the heart of the African wilderness, a seventeen-year-old girl awakens by the side of a river, her memory erased from a botched assassination attempt, and with a gleaming samurai sword at her feet. The predators lurking nearby aren't her only concern, for a deadly mystery envelops her, and its unraveling will send geo-political shockwaves throughout the world.
In this captivating first book of the Angel of Death trilogy, meet Sophie Martine, an enigmatic figure with no recollection of her past, yet bearing an inexplicable mastery of both ballet and martial arts. As she struggles to survive, little does she know that her existence holds the power to reshape the world map and ignite international turmoil.
The trilogy, which includes Covert Ballerina and The Exchange Student, takes the reader on a breathtaking journey across continents and from the primal rhythms of an African village to the grandeur of Russia's Mariinsky Ballet Theater; from an unassuming American high school to a brutal terrorist hideout on the Red Sea, and from clandestine meetings with world leaders to a high-stakes aerial dogfight over Saudi Arabia.

Note sure of the age of the intended audience. If adults, I rate it 2 stars at best. 1st 20% was enjoyable, well written and strong character build up. Then the event happens. Story line becomes weak. No more strong colorful writing. Seems as if every event from social, political and economics of the past year somehow ended up in this book?? Probably best suited for a middle schooler.
Do not let the opening story line fool you...it does get better espcialy when Shari takes her rightful leadership role and emerges as the Angel of Death who not only is exceptionally talented with swords but also in her perception of what peop;e are good for her country. This is an excellent book.
A very exciting with interesting historical fantasy features. Enjoyed reading it and looking forward to the next book. It has many interesting characters as well as the main character. I need to see what the mystery that started this story is all about. K
I was initially intrigued with the premise, but the story quickly became childish and silly and had strong overtones of white superiority and used increasingly ultra right wing politics. I would not recommend this for anyone
Reads like a badly written video game. One dimensional lead character placed in not believable situations. Too irrational to hold most readers interest.
