I could not get enough of the story
Quinton and Enzo met when they were in culinary school and decided to open a bakery together. Quinton had feelings for Enzo and didn’t really hide them but didn’t act on them either. And Enzo was hiding a big secret from his best friend about his past that Enzo just never wanted to bring up. But now things were getting really touchy between them and Quinton had finally had enough and he told Enzo that he could not take it anymore and that he had been in love with him for a while. Enzo was shocked and didn’t know what to do when Quinton gave him six months to decide what they wanted to do with their bakery, Enzo panicked because he didn’t wanna lose his best friend who he had deep feelings for.
Boy did I feel these two struggles with their feelings and what haunted them from their past. I was really impressed with Quinton and how he stuck to his guns about the business. And I found it super cute when the little gift started to arrive . I had my hand on my heart most of this read because I really felt for Enzo who had been really hurt in the past but I tell you something these two were made for each other they are perfectly paired they are soulmates. Yes They had to work hard admitting what they want from each other but it was just a brilliant read and I was so gutted when the story ended I think I could read about these two for ever and not get bored. Thoroughly enjoyed this read.

Quinton and Enzo met in culinary school. Quinton had feelings for Enzo. Things have been strained between them, and Quinton has had enough, he cannot take it anymore. Enzo is surprised and shocked that Quinton has given them six months to decide what to do with the partnership and bakery. Such an emotional read! Overall, this is a fantastic read! Well written with great pacing.

~ ~ ~ ABBREVIATED REVIEW ~ ~ ~

POV > Dual first-person
Slow-burn, friends to lovers / coworker to lovers trope.

Quinton & Enzo met on the first day of class & in the time it took to graduate developed a deep friendship and solid business plan to open FULL OF HOLES, a donut shop (pastry shop), together.
But lately, the fun has disappeared and, in its place, is tension, stress, and anger. Something's gotta change.

Q's reaction to Enzo's reveal is strange. He doesn't want to be business partners but still wants a relationship with E...? After the way E treated him and the lack of trust shown until E thought Q was out of his life for good, you'd think Q would have cut E out completely and maybe agreed to try to be friends after much more time passed and they'd been able to establish themselves individually.

Enzo and Quinton were already partners in business. They already were strongly connected and had feelings for one another. And although Quinton was in love with Enzo he kept it to himself, until he didn't anymore. Unrequited and working together was tough. So he gives Enzo a deadline to decide what they will be not only personally but also professionally. Touching story of the struggle to figure out if you can go for what you want when the past is making you cautious.

My favorite thing about to is book was that beautiful cover! That picture could be made into a framed piece of art! Unfortunately I did not feel the same level of chemistry from these two characters as I was reading. I’ve read BL Maxwell before and adored the connection I felt to the characters, but for these two I just did t feel it. There were definitely moments that were good - the scene with Enzo crouching beside the car was one - but as a whole, I felt a bit disconnected emotionally.

Quinton and Enzo became close friends in culinary art school 4 years ago and started a bakery business together afterwards. Quinton has had feelings for Enzo beyond friendship the whole time, with Enzo keeping’s walls around his heart and not reciprocating the entire time. Finally Quinton has had enough and wants to absolve their business connection because it’s become too painful to be continually pushed away. Enzo finally realizes what he will lose with Quinton in his life professionally and personally and vows to make changes to how he treats Quinton and to share his back story with him.

All of this is well written and developed, it’s just at this point I didn’t feel as much effort from Enzo emotionally as I was hoping for. I really wanted to be show. The effort Enzo was going to make to make up for the awful ways he treated Quinton and it was t enough for me. All of it just felt slightly disconnected. They liked each other I guess, but I just didn’t feel it in the gut as much as I was hoping.

It’s a quick read and cute, creative premise, just missing a little heart and emotion for me!.

Oh wow. This was really bad. Plot wise it was interesting - two friends open a bakery together, one is hiding a secret and the other is pining for his friend but keeping it to himself. The first guy is a real asshole to the other, though, so the second guy decides to end the business relationship in six months. How will they ever reconcile their disparate interests and find true love?

The writing is terrible. It reminds me of the stuff I wrote in high school. Very basic, clichéd, and flat. Even though this is a short work, there should be some character development or at least some type of personality given to these two, but that wasn't in the cards, unfortunately. The explanation of why they were ending the business always seemed trite because the author only shows juvenile bickering.

Then, when the one guy with the secret finally divulged it, the other guy's reaction was so weird, it didn't make a lot of sense. It just hurried the end of the business relationship and began a new one where they were still dependent on each other. Then it's a year later and they're getting married.

This was kind of a time waster, even if it did only take a half hour to read.

A friends-to-enemies-to lovers romance? Trust BL Maxwell to give readers something that is different from what is traditionally found in M/M contemporary romance. We are given a full, well-rounded, fleshed-out story with Six Months. In it, the writer wastes no time in getting the readers to feel the frustration of Quinton as his business partner treatment becomes the last straw. Different from so many other romances where the tension comes from unrequited love, the maltreatment of Quinton stems from a malicious business relationship he has had in the past.
Quinton Thorn and Enzo Reid became friends on the first day of culinary school then became business partners. Unfortunately for Quinto, Enzo doesn't have the same feelings towards him but is harboring a secret that accounts for his emotional distancing. Feeling stomped on by Enzo, Quinton makes a decision to go it alone with his own bakery business. He gives Enzo six months to buy him out or prepare to sell the business. It takes that ultimatum for Enzo to realize how much he's hurt Quinton, that he doesn't want to lose the friendship, and that he sincerely needs Quinton for a more emotionally committed intimate long-term relationship.
For a short story, the writer gives readers everything they could possibly want in ANY story! A world within the narrative that is fully constructed. Character development through growth that is fully realized throughout the story. A revelation that accounts for the conflict in the tale along with a plausible resolution that is credible, given what we know from the major characters. Then we have a happily ever after, making this story one of the most delightful ones I've read given the one main character that I found disagreeable. Well done, BL Maxwell! I really, really liked this story!

Oh this is so frustrating. This had so much potential but went off track rather quickly. When I started reading, I felt like I was coming in at the middle of the story. Instead of telling us how Quinton and Enzo met, became friends and started a business, there should have been several chapters that actually showed us. The chapters were short enough as it was, so this shouldn’t have been difficult.
While this friends-to-lovers trope should have worked, there were just too many problems that kept taking me out of the story. It seemed to me that he alternate POV of each very short chapter was cause for confusion. Quite often, the character whose POV it was supposed to be was mixed up with the other character. The timelines and sequence of events were also rather questionable. For example, when describing the end of June into early July (nearing the Fourth) as being weeks, that threw me. Then Q and Enzo go out on a date, confess their feeling and wind up in bed, then the very next chapter, it’s like nothing ever happened. And when Q meets with his father and decides he wants to buy Enzo out but for most of the story acts like he’s leaving but then late in the story tells Enzo and says that he just me with his father. Just too many inconsistencies for an author I know writes better than that.
Oh, while I agree that Enzo was wrong about he treated Q, I also though Q was pretty much being a jerk as well.

Short but strange

I've read a few books by BL Maxwell and I'm confused. Some I love, some are a mess, but I can't stop picking them up to read. Go figure.
This is short and I love the actual baking aspect, but the partnership and relationship details are all over the place.
Q and Enzo have variously known each other for two years, three years or four years. Q asks Enzo to buy him out, then he's going to buy Enzo out but doesn't tell him that and keeps saying he's leaving, then comes up with a way to split up the partnership but keep the two separate businesses aligned.
Q has always loved Enzo but it's not clear where Enzo stands. It implies he likes Q but doesn't want a relationship because of a past experience that he won't talk about, but light bulb moment and he's totally in love.
Enzo's history is completely unbelievable because he wouldn't have accepted what happened to him in his earlier career because legal action would have sorted it all out. I just didn't buy it at all.
The premise of the story was okay but with better execution, it could have been very good. Probably two and a half stars.

What I most enjoyed about this book was the complication the author used to temporarily derail Quinton and Enzo's relationship. I found it very realistic and well done. That complication is getting so wrapped up in a person that you allow your dreams to become their dreams. I think even in some minor way, we've all done something similar. You want to be around this person, they make you feel wonderful and they are so passionate about something that you can't help but get pulled along. If that's something like a hobby then that isn't a huge problem maybe, but here it involves the choice of a career and eventually, the realization that you can't make the life with a person they think you are going to make. Fortunately for the characters and the reader, Quinton and Enzo are such wonderful men and mature enough to realize where the problem is that it doesn't take long before they completely open up and talk about everything and that allows them to make realistic life plans that make both of them happy. The last two chapters were so perfect as they move toward wrapping up their HEA that I was smiling the whole time.

4.25 Stars!

Six Months was first released in the Fighting Chances Anthology and it's a really good enemies-to-lovers story.

Quinton was a great character and I adored him to pieces. I loved that once he had enough of Enzo's behavior, he called him on it and took some measures to sever their working relationship, seeing as their friendship was more than a bit one-sided at that point. Now, Enzo, he took a lot more for me to like him. He was awful to Quinton, and frankly, Quinton went too easy on him all things considered. Still, once Enzo realized that he could lose Quinton, he finally got his act together and did what he needed to do to make things right, so there's that. Enzo and Quinton were really sweet together, once Enzo got over himself and actually told Quinton why he'd acted like he did (not that anything excused his actions) and the story had a satisfying ending.

This was an enjoyable read, well-written, entertaining and OMG, the descriptions of all the treats Quinton baked had me salivating. Recommendable!

Quinton and Enzo's Story . . .

Quinton Thorn and Enzo Reid attended culinary school together and became good friends. They decided to become business partners and opened a bakery together. Quinton has had feelings toward Enzo from the start, but Enzo let an experience from his past make him overly-cautious yet unwilling to speak up about it. Lack of communication can kill a relationship faster than anything else, and he will soon find that out.

When Quinton is finally tired of being pushed away by Enzo, he decides he doesn’t want to continue on this way. He wants out of the business and gives Enzo 6 months to buy out his share or sell the business outright. Will the shock of losing Quinton finally wake him up to how much he has hurt his partner? Will he finally reveal his true feelings and explain why he has been so distant? Or will he let them go their separate ways and give up everything that should have been important to him? Will he allow his past to dictate his future and destroy what he could have cherished?

FRIENDS TO ENEMIES TO LOVERS SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE!

This was such a sweet, endearing story about realising what you could have had when the thought of losing that one special person in a span of six months stares you in the face!

That is what happens to Enzo Reid when his best friend and business partner Quinton Thorn gives him six months to decide to either buy him out or to sell their bakery that they opened eight months after completing culinary school.

It was both an emotional journey and a life lesson for both characters to realise what is more important in life- friendship, business or love?
It also showcased their growth in understanding each other better and to be more open and honest with each other but most of all- to trust each other!

I hope you will enjoy their six month journey as much as I did!.

Speak your truth! Quinton, showed his love language through his baked goods and sharing food with as many people as possible. He sees Enzo as having the same love and passion for food as him. Enzo, was on his second phase of lief. He hadn't shared his full secret with Quinton and pondered if it was too late. They were the best of friends, loved baking together, disliked the business portion and yet they totally failed at communicating. Without strong foundations built on trust as well as skills, there are vulnerabilities. How do Quint and Enzo work through unrequited expectations? Friendship, business, love or all three? Do they reconcile business with passion for baking? Can they keep the business going without full disclosures? Great characters. Titilating drama. Good story, nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. Totally hot cover art!

Quinton and Enzo are an odd pair of best friends. They both have deeper feelings for the other but are unwilling or incapable of expressing them; plus, they are business partners and they do not seem to be able not to snap at each other. When Quinton decides enough is enough and gives Enzo six months before dissolving their partnership, things begin to change and the two men start to figure out they’d rather have the other in their lives than not.
There is so much tension for such a short story, and, hating conflict myself, I was on edge the whole time and I hurt for these two men who seem incapable to settle their differences.
A slow-burn, friends to lovers story, which is not quite as sweet as the cover led me to believe, but is full of a range of emotions nonetheless.

Quinton and Enzo meet at baking school. They decide after they graduate to go into business together. Quinton is hesitant because he does not want it to ruin their friendship. Enzo ensures him it will not happen because they are good friends. After a couple of years their friendship starts to falter because Enzo is hiding a part of his past and does not want to pursue his feelings towards Quinton even though Quinton has shown interest in him. Quinton finally had enough and tells Enzo he cannot do this anymore and wants out. He says he will give him 6 months to find someone to buy him out or he will have to sell. I really enjoyed reading this story and was given an ARC for my honest review.

Short and sweet romance

This is a short 2hour audio, about 2 friends who build a business together but in reality one is in love with the other.

I have to be honest and say that Douglas Wilkin isn't my favourite narrator, I'm not sure whether its the tone or accent and I had to listen to him at normal rate, which has never happened before, so that's a first.

Great sweet book.

A very easy to read story.
Quinton and Enzo have been friends since the first day of culinary school. So easy with each other they decide to open a business together.
Two years later and the friendship is almost nonexistent, they barely speak and hardly spend anytime together at work and no time at all outside of the business.
Then Quinton tells Enzo he wants out of the business and gives him six months to figure out what he wants.
Enzo realises he wants Quinton so sets out to win his heart.

This story started out very sad, a friendship/business relationship gone south. Reality is secrets have no business in friendships or relationships. The hurt and sadness was a strong part of the story yet when Enzo realized Quinton’s feelings the story took on a different feel.
Watching the healing, yes, a bit more hurt, too, but the process of renewal to an even stronger level was lovely. The happy ending was well deserved.

Short and sweet second chance romance

Enzo and Quinton have been friends since culinary school and now run a business together.
Their friendship has slowly become strained over time because Enzo is hiding secrets.
Quinton has had enough and issues an ultimatum.
Slowly Enzo opens up despite his fears of losing everything and Quinton.
Quinton was wonderful and patient with Enzo.
The author has a knack for making characters completely realistic and relatable while also showing their growth and development especially in such a short story.

This was a really sweet read. I have to say though I had trouble liking, never mind loving, these guys at first. Their bickering made me so mad LOL. I could see the love there so I knew things would work out.

Another Sweet Story

Lack of communication and a past betrayal almost cost Enzo and Quinton everything they talked about having together. Instead, we get to see that change isn't always a bad thing. This is a quick read but such a sweet story. It is worth reading.

A sweet but sad shorty story of love gone wrong but not away. For my copy there was a glitch in chapter 14, I think, a part of it was repeat three times, a touch confusing at first but no biggie really and I sailed on through. I do like this authors works, always a lovely read and this was no exception.

I enjoyed reading about Quinton and Enzo. It's a sweet short story about two men who meet at school and become really good friends. There were a lot of places that kind of disconnected for me, and out of the B.L. Maxwell books I've read, this is not my favorite by far, but it's still something I liked and was able to read through without issue.
