Well... Myf Wren... you've done it again.
I've been waiting for this since the very second I finished Viking Ink... and it did not disappoint whatsoever.
This book was the healing and love Rhys deserved before and deserves forever.
This was a tickle and a giggle.
This was a warm blankey and a steaming cup of hot cocoa with one too many marshmallows.
This was a cuddle and a gentle kiss.
This was a raging fire in the middle of a winter snow storm.
Rhys being loved by Simon's family the way he is is magical. In this book, we get to see more of Rhys' beautiful smile, his relationship with each family member, and the family members' stories begin to develop more deeply. The traditions and warmth from the farm envelops you in a hug that you don't want to end. From the hugs, the specialty hot cocoa just for Rhys, the special drink on Christmas Eve, and the old wives' tales told to scare children (and Littles)..
Again, before I could see the town center, I could see the window of Viking Ink and Simon watching Rhys play his guitar across the square... but now? Now I see a cottage with a long dirt road that is well worn with memories of travels to and from.
I can smell the wet grass and trees after the first snowfall, the moss on the logs that are laid in that ruin, waiting for someone to take a seat like they had a long time ago, to share a meal in the home together.
A barn with animals all snuggled in before the snow storm and atvs that grumbley Daddy's have to use to chase down a ram while the other nearly has a heart attack watching Mouse play.
I see the strings of lights lining around the cottage and across the walkway to the barn, lighting up the fresh snow, twinkling in the moonlight while the trolls watch from up on the hill.
I can smell the pine from the fresh cut tree that perfectly (barely) fits in the living room (and might be crooked, don't tell dad), shining beautifully with its special ornaments that were made with love and laughter and probably too much glitter.
But most importantly, I can feel the love and strength that Simon has poured into Rhys, showing him how strong he's been the whole time. We get to see Rhys stand on his own two feet, and not in a way that pushes Simon away, but brings him closer to his heart while standing back. Seeing that confidence and strength flourish and shine bright is phenomenal, and only proves these two were made by fate for one another.
I can't recommend Forever Ink, book 2 of Tewsbury Daddies enough.
I'm ecstatic to see Mouse and Callum's story.
I can't wait to see what Doc finds in life.
And I truly can't wait to see how the town of Tewsbury continues to love, cherish, and protect its own. For now, I guess I'll just have to wait to see the beautiful little town by the sea; and hope to see Baby Bear at the end of the pier again, but this time, hand in hand with Daddy Bear, a cute little pup named Ollie, and smiles that would prove true love exists.
