Just before graduating, Maye Farsey has one more hurdle to an internship with her daunting, rigid, unfriendly professor. Sounds like a nightmare rather than an opportunity of a lifetime. At least until there’s an extra bonus added. A guarantee into the school’s graduate program—tuition free.
Andrew Chaplin would much rather have his summer to himself. But, in an effort to secure tenure at the university where he teaches, he’s agreed to take on a student intern to give him that extra edge over his colleagues.
Neither could’ve predicted the chemistry that developed during long hours, a shared, cramped office, and work they’re both incredibly passionate about.
When tragedy strikes, it puts the sizzling heat building between them to the test. She’s insecure but loving and compassionate. He’s proud but vulnerable. Can they find their way through their own obstacles to cultivate something beautiful and new?
Victoria Blue lives in her own portion of the galaxy known as Southern California. There she finds the love and life sustaining power of one amazing sun, two unique and awe inspiring planets and three indifferent, yet comforting moons. Life is fantastic and challenging and every day brings new adventures to be discovered. She looks forward to seeing what’s next!
Maye Farsey is a woman on a mission. Working through the Summer as an intern to Dr. Andrew Chaplin to earn her place in the next level of her education.
Being one of five sisters and one half of a set of twins has her second guessing herself too much and feeling really invisible. She tries to be confident but, in the presence of the Professor, she loses some of that. He watches her and she thinks it is because he is waiting for her to fail or simply, because he does not like her.
Andrew is fighting his attraction to this bright and beautiful much younger woman. He sees so many reasons to keep his hands to himself. Yet, there are times when he cannot stop the wanting.
A forbidden romance with a real age gap only makes the want more intense and dangerous. Add in a handsy co-worker and an ex-boyfriend who cannot seem to take their no's for an answer, and you have trouble all the way around.
Maye and Andrew are truly a perfect match! The banter, the heat and the pull is so fun to watch. A disater and a tragedy are heart-string pullers. And the HEA is satisfying.
I was teetering on a 3 star but I decided to give it a 2 solely because this felt so rushed. The writing isn’t terrible, however the way some of the dialogue is written is honestly a bit cringy. It’s hard to explain. Like her saying “I like that so much” and just stuff written in that way. The plot was mediocre and not much of a plot at all. I feel like if there was 200 more pages of detail regarding the plot and character development this would’ve been good. I love a good academia, but this fell so flat.
Binge read in a day. Loved the writing style and the story was really good, not overly dramatic but I had to take an away a star at the over communication and then another one because it was a super slow burn.
This was a random pick up in B&N and I’m not disappointed in my purchase but it wasn’t a favorite either.
Such a great book from beginning to end! If you like a good romance story. I highly recommend this book. Maye and Andrew, sigh... So good. I also love an age gap story and the chemistry between these two is hot! Grab it today. You will love it! I'm really looking forward to Shepherd's story. Victoria Blue is an excellent author and knows how to tell a story. I love books that capture my interest in the first few paragraphs and her books always do.
So well done! I am loving these sisters, and the men who boldly love them. Additionally, this is professor-student, one of my fave tropes, given a truly creative new voice. Beautiful, emotional layers on top of a terrific plot.
