None of the papers of the first 3/5ths of this volume grabbed my attention--this was shaping up to be a 2-star read. Then I came across Terryl Givens' essay "Letter to a Doubter". Much more than the title implies, Givens gives a dignity to doubt, and expansiveness to questions, and a clarity to the milieu of the quest for knowledge. I also enjoyed the papers on Josiah's reform movement that followed. Probably four stars, on balance.
