Her independence has become her armor, but she struggles between enjoying its freedom and overcoming its curse of solitude. The Last Flower Standing is a powerful body of poetry illustrating the highs and lows of adulthood with topics ranging from inner-child healing, societal expectations, love, loss, and spiritual awakening. The four chapter titles are My Undoing, My Rebirth, My Secrets, and My Peace. This is the sister book to Thorns of Courage, which was the first poetry book written by Midhat Rehman.
I went through this in one sitting, so many of these poems really resonated with me. Almost every poem feels like a confession or diary entry and I love it. It feels like my diary. Here’s two of my favorites:
