Fixing what ain’t broke… Can be murder. There’s a new girl in town, or more to the point, a new Community Manager, and the residents of Breezy Lake don’t react well when it looks like some of her proposed changes might just upset their entire way of life.
Resident and amateur sleuth, Loretta Barksdale, is particularly concerned about the possibility of her beloved Clubhouse Cooks group being dissolved.
When strangers in league with the new manager start arriving in town and throwing around their weight, tensions rise, culminating in a slaying at the local coffee shop.
Loretta bites her tongue, when the new CM comes to her for help in solving the crime, and agrees to help. She’d like to knock the CM off her high horse, but figures that can wait until after the case is cracked.
Can she find the killer and keep her community safe? Or will the recent changes put a permanent damper on the laid-back Florida retirement village that she loves? Find out in this exciting Culinary Cozy Mystery!
Oh this was another really good one in this series! I loved how Loretta and her friends stood up to the abuse of those students who basically invaded their village trying to force a healthier lifestyle on everyone all while being rude and condescending.
I absolutely couldn’t stand that new community director and was really hoping she’d leave or get fired, so we’ll just have to see how it goes in the next book. I wasn’t too surprised about who the killer was—they absolutely deserved the killer label. Can’t wait to see what the next book brings!
Love this series and this book is the best one yet. Creative, well written storyline with a fun mystery to solve. The characters are really well developed and have very diverse personalities that play well off each other. Put this one at the top of your to be read pile. If you haven’t already started the series this is the perfect time to begin!
Taking on college kids is interesting in and of itself but when one of them ends up dead that's a whole other matter. A group of vegans trying to impose their beliefs on a community of senior citizens is met with resistance. Loretta and company jump to action especially when Kelly is fired and a younger woman takes over and tries to roughshod over the seniors. She along with the college kids find out that's not a smart decision.
Things in Breezy Lake are suddenly turned upside down when a new manager is hired and fires the staff and starts changing everything. She takes over the clubhouse chefs and then invites a vegan group into the community. Then there is a murder and the intrigue kicks in with a surprise ending. Another fun read.
The arrival of a new Community manager who rubs them the wrong way, threatens to shutdown the clubhouse club. Soon a murder takes place at nearby local coffee shop as more outsiders gather in support of the new manager. Loretta must figure out what is going on to keep the peace in the small town and keep the clubhouse club alive. A quick exciting read.
There’s a new manager at the village and no one is happy about it. In the midst of all the changes a death occurs and Loretta and friends find themselves in the middle of it all. Great characters & original setting. I look forward to the next one.
