When the anti-corruption unit of the UK’s intelligence agencies is attacked by gunmen, its director Rebecca Fox turns to the only people she can trust her life fearless journalists from The Republic, Tom Novak and Stella Mitchell.
But their pursuit of the truth is about to thrust them into an alliance with a disgraced former colleague of Novak’s, who believes the attack is somehow connected to a conspiracy that began years earlier with the death of Novak’s father.
Don’t miss the final thriller of the explosive series, with globe-trotting action and devastating twists right up to the end.
I've been a fan of thrillers ever since watching All the President's Men when I was far too young to understand what was going on. Now every day I get to indulge in my passion for fast-paced stories, characters you really care about, and to bring you behind the scenes of the intelligence agencies and the most secretive parts of the political world (the parts they don't want you to know about).
It's often said that I write cinematically, which isn't a coincidence, as my influences are as much in cinema as literature: Daniel Craig's Bond films, Glengarry Glen Ross, Spartan. TV has also been a major factor in my writing. From the original BBC miniseries State of Play, David Simon's The Wire, and Aaron Sorkin, writer of The West Wing; and the US version of House of Cards.
I have worked in the book industry since I was 21.
I honestly hope that this is not the last story with these characters, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading every book & 'there is always another story' to quote from this book
Whenever I read the last in a series of books which I have enjoyed as much as this series, I often feel a little bereft, I will miss them and I am hoping the author has a change of heart
My advice as always is to start with the first book in this series to gain a better understanding & enhance your enjoyment as they follow a timeline that leads the main characters to the point in this book Enjoy 😉
I can't believe this is the final one in this brilliant series. As usual, it's one you won't want to put down and is filled with non-stop twists that you won't know which end is up. False trails, fraud, murder, and the quest for the uncovering of the truth all adds up to a compelling read.
If you haven't read any of the earlier books in the series, you need to start at the first one. If you have, you will undoubtedly end up totally satisfied but feeling bereft. Just as well there's the other series from this author to get stuck into.
Book 5 in the series and this one took me just two days to read. I didn’t want to put it down, but had to. The whole series has been good, especially the first two, but I would thoroughly recommend starting at number one and reading them all. A definite 5 out of 5 from me.
This was an excellent read - back up there in terms of pace with the first 3 in the series. I thoroughly recommend it. It is just a shame that there, apparently, won't be more books with these characters.
Sad to see the end of the series but a great way to do it. An exhausting read that holds your attention all the way Upwards and onwards. With whatever direction Andrew Raymond goes, I'll be there
I’ve just finished this series and have really enjoyed all of them. Fast paced, interesting intricate story lines and really well written. Great characters throughout, not just Novak and Stella. Of it’s genre one of the most enjoyable series I have read. Highly recommended!
In the heart-pounding thriller Blood Money, Andrew Raymond weaves a web of intrigue, betrayal, and scandal that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Set against the backdrop of high-stakes corruption and covert operations, this gripping novel delivers a roller-coaster ride of suspense.
The story unfolds when the anti-corruption unit of the UK’s intelligence agencies faces a deadly attack by gunmen. Desperate for answers, its director, Rebecca Fox, turns to the only people she can trust: fearless journalists from The Republic—Tom Novak and Stella Mitchell. As they delve deeper into the conspiracy, they uncover shocking secrets that lead them to a disgraced former colleague of Novak’s. This connection traces back to the mysterious death of Novak’s father years earlier.
In Blood Money, the characters play pivotal roles in unravelling the conspiracy and facing life-threatening challenges - Tom Novak is relentless in his pursuit of the truth. His stakes are high, as the attack on the anti-corruption unit connects to the mysterious death of his father years earlier. Novak’s determination and resilience drive the narrative forward. Stella Mitchell complements Novak’s skills, and together, they form an unyielding team. Stella’s loyalty and resourcefulness make her a crucial ally in the fight against corruption. Rebecca Fox, the director of the UK’s anti-corruption unit, seeks justice and accountability. She trusts Novak and Stella with her life, relying on their investigative prowess to uncover the truth behind the attack. Her character embodies the pressure and responsibility of her position.
These characters navigate a treacherous world of betrayal, vengeance, and scandal, making Blood Money a gripping thriller with devastating twists and globe-trotting action. The pacing in Blood Money is a masterstroke that intensifies the suspense. Andrew Raymond deftly controls the rhythm, alternating between heart-pounding action and moments of quiet tension, leaving readers guessing until the very end. The tension builds relentlessly as Novak and Mitchell race against time to expose the truth and bring justice to those responsible.
Blood Money is the final instalment in the Novak and Mitchell series, and it doesn’t disappoint. With its well-drawn characters, intricate plot, and relentless pacing, this novel is a must-read for fans of espionage thrillers. Raymond’s writing keeps readers engaged, and the stakes are higher than ever as the protagonists confront their demons while battling powerful adversaries.
In summary, Blood Money is a riveting page-turner that combines adrenaline-fueled action with thought-provoking themes. If you’re looking for a thrilling ride through the shadowy corridors of power, this book delivers in spades.
Through the first few chapters, Novak and Mitchell had to end. But then the story turned and Andrew Raymond turned his plodding start into a fast paced thriller. It isn’t as good as some of the earlier books. But, exploring the child in Novak, in a similar way to Mitchell in an earlier book, was superb.
I don’t understand why this is not a tv series. A super read.
The first book was the best, all the others, including this one, were a little weaker. This one has lots of build up, then just… ends? It’s like the author ran out of time before submitting an essay. I thought I was about 80% through the story and then it just said The End. Very disappointing.
Seems a long time coming and you were given gentle reminders as to what had happened before to close the circle. Perhaps at some point I might revisit these from the start in the meantime I look forward to Andrew's other stories about DCI Lomond.
The final book in the series and what a white knuckle ride it was. I can't recommend the Novak & Mitchell books enough and only hope that Andrew has more in the pipeline? Treat yourself, read them all! 😃
It's been a while since the last book in this series, all of which I have enjoyed. So, I was excited more than usual to read Blood Money. I was not disappointed. Hopefully, there will be more?
An enjoyable read but not quite as strong as the others in the series. It all ended abruptly for me. The sinister group continues to pose a threat but the main characters are still there to meet it.
Great conclusion to the series. So happy Stella and Tom never developed romantic feelings. Glad Rebecca was in this one. And Walter. It was a fitting end.
