Wild Texas Hearts #1
The Cowboy's Last Song
Single Dad
Nashville Star
Cowboy
After years of breaking my back to make it in country music, a songwriter penned me a masterpiece. We’d spent a summer getting close, but when she wanted more, I walked away to become a star.
Seven years later, I’m raising my daughter alone, and my career is tanking. I need a song to put me on top. And she needs a star to save her record label.
I’ll keep it professional for as long as I can, but one look ignites a fire I’ve only ever gotten on stage. And I'm not alone.
She writes me that song during the day, and at night I make her body sing.
But she thinks I'll take off again and keeps her heart guarded from me. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, she’s the one for me and my daughter.
And I'll make this my last song and give up music if it convinces her this time it’s forever...
The Cowboy’s Last Song is part of the Wild Texas Heart Cowboy Series but can be read as a standalone. No cheating. No cliffhanger. HEA Guaranteed.

I’ve got to state that I normally stay away from romances that have a widow/widower finding their second chance at love even through Jamie was never married to his high school sweetheart but had a child with her, then the woman died in a horse accident. Jamie still carries the love & tattoo of Layla, no matter what their lives put in their path or feelings. Reason why I don’t read them is that there is always the ghost of the person around so it’s not just 2 people getting together but it’s 3 in a relationship, 4 or more if there are kids involved.
I was leery to want to read this story but since Harper and Jamie had a past I decided to go against the single daddy romance and read it. Started out a bit slow but as I went into the story and followed how this was written and how the characters started to get really connected and brought me into their story, it got better then I’d imagined. Now I want to see what in store next...
7 years prior to current story, Harper and Jamie were together to write his future top charting song, both in their early 20s, the music connected these two souls but alcohol cause words to pass Harper’s mouth and cause a man to run the opposite direction... leaving a broken-hearted Harper behind thinking she lacked for men. When you read this you’ll know the hardship, the pain, bitterness and the loneliness of having people not really caring and pushing her away....
Jamie wasn’t a saint until fate made his choice in life.

I fell right into love with this, surprisingly. So well-written, a second chance romance in the entertainment world is not easy.
Harper didn't relish seeing Jamie again, let alone, WORKING with him? Oh, heck no, her heart barely survived his rejection seven years ago. Well...you don't always get your way, but maybe you do get what you need.
Jamie and Harper were a perfect match in every way, but so many outside factors literally try to make it impossible for them to be together.
There's one thing going right for them, and that is Chloe, precious with wisdom beyond her years, 11 year old daughter of Jamie. Harper didn't stand a chance when Jamie said he'd always wanted her, and now Chloe loves her too. She was a total goner and didn't mind a bit.
A great, fast-paced read with the ups and downs of life in an industry rife with groupies, greed and gossip. Oh, and it is steamy, here in the South!
All the secondary characters in here just add more excitement and more surprises.
A stand alone, but part of a wonderful new series I look forward to reading more of.

This follows Jamie who has an 11-year-old daughter named Chloe. Trying to support his family with a potential new record deal and will have the travel again he comes face to face with a beautiful woman he rejected many years ago. Can they put what happened in the past between them?
This was good. I struggled with the fast-paced relationship and how easily Harper the FMC gave in and had instant feelings again after being rejected many years ago. I’m not one for fast-paced as I like the build of tension so I feel this is more of a personal preference. But I loved Jamie and Harper together. Jamie with his daughter and the fighting he did to be able to have custody rights had me swooning. Also the political take of power in the music and artist industry. Being a woman in a high position surrounded by men in the industry. I enjoyed this and how Harper had a backbone and stood her ground even if it didn’t go her way. The audiobook was a great listen also excited for the next book in the series.

The Cowboy's Last Song is the second book in Deborah Garland’s Wild Texas Hearts and suggests a complex background that has set the stage for Jaime’s currently actions in life. The tragedy of loss left something behind in this scenario and Jaime has more than himself to consider when making decisions that impact his future but reconnecting with an old friend will definitely highlight what’s missing and force Jaime to re-evaluate his choices. While the story started out a little slow, the plot and storyline are meaningful and packed with drama, emotion and guilt. There are significant side characters that will most likely feature in future books and just enough angst that it doesn’t dominate the story’s message. Once I got into the story there was no putting it down, and I’m looking forward to future books in this series.

In a story of love and growth, Harper and Jamie have songwriting and romance chemistry galore. Seven years ago, they wrote songs together. One of them he released, and it went to number one. Now he is working for her, do they have the magic to do it again? He is on his last chance; will he blow it with another recording contract? The obligations and obstacles of the music industry become the wedge between them?
They are not the same people now. Can they take a second chance at their chemistry? I loved the story, the characters, especially Gigi and Chloe. With lots of layers to keep things interesting, a well-paced story, I quickly finished the book.
I recommend and will be reading the next book. Are we going to get Cam or Logan?
Thank you to Booksprout and the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review. Are second chances possible? Can the one that got away really be reclaimed? How does the “bad boy of music” prove that second chances are not only possible but the only thing that matters? Can two people move beyond the hurt, uncertainties, wrong perceptions? Cowboys, Stetson’s, mucic executives, country music royalty, horses & a cute little girl...what can come about when all these things come together? Only way to find out is by grabbing your copy of this book. Well worth the read. Sorry no spoilers.

Relatable Characters
I may not be a music star or come from wealth, but this book and these characters are very relatable. It makes the book easy to read and hard to put down.
I love how Harper Montgomery and Jamie Miller have a past connection. Even after so many years, their chemistry is still burning. That first kiss is magical, and the hotness is smoking hot. 🔥🌶💙
Single dad Jamie has the heart and ovaries fluttering. Chloe is a good kid who seems very grounded given the advantages she has. I love how Jamie acknowledges how much like him and her mom she is and how he's in trouble. I know the feeling! 🤣
I like how all the pieces fall into place as the ending nears. A bit of bittersweetness as life throws a couple of curve balls keeps it realistic. There's also a hint of what's to come in the next book of the series.
I read along as I listened to the audio book. The narrators are Sarah Puckett and Griswold Addams. I always enjoy listening to Sarah, and this is no exception. As for Griswold, he's new to me, but that man is welcome in my ears any day! His rich voice is an absolute delight. 😍🎧

Country Music Star Jamie Harper was signing with Blue Rock Records. He had been dropped from several other major record labels due to his actions and poor sales. He was worried about this last move as the song writer that helped him write his first number one hit was a VP at this label, and he was afraid that Harper Montgomery may not have forgive him for what happened seven years earlier. He had delivered papers to her apartment, and she wanted him to stay, but he refused. He thought she would hold it against him, when in fact she was terribly embarrassed by what she had done. They had a solid friendship and she had to go and do something like that. They soon discovered shortly after signing the contract that their friendship and more was still intact. The longer they worked together the stronger their feeling became, but the management at the record label did not like it. The CEO was there the time of signing retired shortly afterwards, and they hired the CFO Ronny Kravet to replace him. His style of management appeared to be a little on the illegal side. He liked to blackmail people into doing what he wanted, which was how he got the CEO position to start with. He wanted to promote Jamie as the wild, hot, single, party guy to make sales to more women. He needed to go out flirt, have fun whatever with the ladies and Jamie had tried to leave that all behind as he was a single parent with a young daughter at home. Kravet told Jamie some things about his past the label had dug up, they would release if he did not go a long with the plan. The same happened with Harper if she continued to see him, they would release information and stop the release of his record. This was an emotional read as Jamie comes to the realization there are more important things in life than performing on stage.

Single dad Jamie Miller is a hot country music star that raises his daughter 10 months out of the year, and lets loose partying and womanizing while he tours the other 2 months. It’s a great single dad story because Jamie has so many diverse hats to wear. He needs to perform, it isn’t just a job. He carries around a lot of guilt because the performing kept his little family apart.
Harper and Jamie met previously years ago and it didn’t end well. Now she is an executive at his new record label. She’s the daughter of two country music legends that left her on her own or with relatives, to pursue their careers. In each case the importance of one’s career and the people they love takes center stage.
The writing is excellent and the author touches on secondary characters that have or will feature in future books, but they are easy to keep track of. What I really liked is that while the character’s histories were very important, they were revealed within the context of the present without jumping back and forth between the past and present. I also like romances when some jealousy or possessiveness occurs because so many opportunities arise from that.
So the chemistry and passion was way up there, we had the single dad trying to explain “sleepovers” with a woman to his 11 year old daughter, and a couple of potentially catastrophic career events to keep this book really interesting.

This is a glorious story of love the second time around It draws you in and keeps you engaged with a wonderful cast of supporting characters that I am sure will feature in later books if they are not the actual stars
Jamie is the bad boy of country music he used to be bad boy all the time but since he got custody of his daughter after the death of her mother he works hard as a single dad for ten months of the year and parties hard while on tour the other two but his career is tanking and he needs to have another hit Seven years earlier he wrote his last number one hit with Harper and broke her heart in the process She is the daughter of country music royalty who was raised by nannies and basically ignored Now they will have to work together and she is hardening her heart against him Then she meets his daughter and her walls start to crumble Will they realise that not only are they a great team as far as music is concerned but can also be a great team in life Will they get a HEA you wail have to read to see

Jamie and Harper. Such an inspirational story. Loved it and the secondary characters.
Harper grew up with famous parents who were never there for her. Harper is talented in her own right but doesn’t want the life her parents lead. She’s happy writing songs and helping singers get their break. Jamie has had it rough for a long time. His childhood crush got pregnant, wouldn't marry him, and he wasn't able to see his daughter very often until his ex died and he got sole custody of his daughter. Jamie and Harper worked together seven years ago on a song and fell in love but never revealed their feelings for each other and went their separate ways. Now years later Harper and Jamie have to work together to write a number one song for Jamie to perform. Now nothing can stop them from acting upon those feelings, except his agent, the record company Harper works for that has just signed Jamie, and a sneaky backstabbing exec at the record company. With so many people against them how can the be together? Especially as they are being told that to be together will damage Jamie's career. This is the second book in the Wild Texas Hearts series. Yes, this book can be read as a standalone but you will come across characters from the first book since the series is connected by friendship and family so reading the series in order will give a better reading experience. Book one is free so go grab it and dive right in to the stories of the cowboys from Wild Hearts, Tx. Another awesome book, steamy, entertaining and just the right amount of emotional turmoil. Very good second chance romance. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book. Jamie loves his daughter and the fight to get custody of her was an uphill battle and has made having a music career difficult. Harper is the one that got away. She's now the VP at the record company Jamie just signed with. Is this their second chance at love or will this end things between them permanently?

I am leaving this review voluntarily after being sent a free book. Jamie and Harper met and worked together six years before finally getting together again when Jamie signs a contract with Blue Rock Records. This time Jamie will not turn down Harper. Jamie and Harper grow closer and their love for each other is revived. However there is a detestable man who gets the promotion that Harper wanted at the company and he does all that he can to destroy their relationship. However when Jamie's daughter Chloe is injured, it all ends. Jamie was willing to cancel his contract but Harper convinces him not to. Instead Michael, Harper's friend, goes to the board and Ronny Kravet is fired. Harper goes to work for her father. Harper, Jamie and Chloe settle near Chloe's mother's family and become a family. In the end everyone is happy and successful.

This is book two in the series and follows on from book one and although you could read it as a standalone, many of the characters in this were in book one so I personally felt a connection to Jamie and Chloe, and of course Cam because I had read Walker and Emma's story. My unanswered question from book one was answered in this and I enjoyed catching up with previous characters and although this story stepped away from Wild Heart, Texas, I still enjoyed it.
Good characters, good chemistry, complex relationships, twists, second chances, trust, friendships, being honest, having faith, realising what's important and love made this a good read. I am looking forward to reading Logan and Cam's story.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is a second chance and enemies to lovers story. Jamie and Harper have a history that ended horribly. He is a bad boy country star but also a caring father. He needs another hit and that is where Harper comes in. He is the last person she wants to see, talk to or work with. She does not want to be vulnerable to him again. They have sparks that fly between them and they both are falling fast again. They have a chance to be a happy family together. A few roadblocks but together they can get thru them

A second chance story as Jamie and Harper finally get themselves where they need to be to end up together. Sometimes it's right people, wrong time and two people have to hope fate has their paths cross again when the time is right...and that's the journey this story took. However, it still wasn't smooth sailing when that second chance hit. It sure felt like too many people were against their HEA in the brutal music world, but thankfully they persevered, especially Jamie, and won the fight for their love. An adorable daughter helped keep them together in her way, along with a few family members who had their best interests at heart. Narration brought the characters to life.

This is the second book in this series and this gives us a peek into the country music world and all that goes on. Jamie and Harper were together seven years ago writing songs and one of those going to number one but they went their separate ways and now he is a single father to Chloe raising her part of the time on touring the other times. While on tour he is a playboy and loves to party but when he has to work with Harper again their chemistry is still as strong as ever but after all that happened in the past can these two get back together again? If it is up to Chloe they will.

A Second Chance To Get It Right -
Jamie left Harper years ago to pursue his country music dream, but never thought he would get a second chance with her. Harper meets Jamie again in a professional capacity, but she soon realises that her feelings for him never went away. Jamie and Harper’s journey to a happily ever after was filled with joy, invigorating sexual encounters and the revelation of secrets, that made this book entertaining and a real page turner. I didn’t want to put it down once I started reading it and I can assure you that it is a must read book.

One More Chance . . .
Harper and Jamie were writing great music together in their early 20’s before they split apart and went their separate ways. Now he has one chance, his last chance, to prove himself seven years later. But Harper is an executive on his label and was hurt when they split. Can they bring back their old magic and create a hit that will put him back up to star status? Or is this “last chance” going to be a non-starter?

The second book in the Wild Texas Hearts series a well written story with a very good storyline the story flowed smoothly across the pages. Jamie is a country singer and is also part time single dad to his daughter Chloe. When he is not playing dad, he loves to party hard. I easily became engrossed in this story about Jamie and Harper. They knew each other before but things ended badly for them. Harper the daughter of two country stars is a songwriter, Jamie is a country star with a reputation he's trying to live down.
He's a single dad determined to do his best for Chloe his daughter but this is his last chance to put right his professional reputation. Will they be able to put their past behind them and go forward from here? Chloe (Jamie's little girl) in the prequel she is a great character but will the three of them be able to become a family?

This was set in a longer setting and it makes sense since Harper and Jamie have a history and baggage to go through. The story is touching, heartbreaking, and heartwarming at the same time, as we got to know the characters and all that goes around them.
I fell for them and rooted for their HEA.

This book is so sweet. The characters are perfect for each other and they have a strong connection. With so much on the line will it work out for them? A brilliant performance.

This is a well written second chance romance. The story is beautiful in an entertaining and well built world. I enjoyed the depth of the characters and the dynamics between them.

Jamie and Harper had a chance together years ago but a necessary mistake changed all that. Years later they are forced to work together again. Harper tries to walk away but her feeling for Jamie and meeting his adorable daughter Chloe does not help. Love, lust, anger happiness all plays in this well written story. You can hear the music being written by them.
