Got this book as an ARC and loved it. We meet Nel, a beautiful plus sized woman who has been learning to love herself and grow her confidence enough to try and help others to grow theirs too via her platforms. A talented photographer who catches people's beauty proving that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We then have the mmc Jake the teacher, the drop dead gorgeous man she's dreamed about through out her younger years and her brothers best friend. Won't lie, started reading this book at 10pm at night finished it at 2:30am as I couldn't put it down, absolutely loved it. Deffo one to read, has laughs, crying n heart warming bits.. I loved it.

Soooo I enjoyed this book so much I was able to read its entirety in just one day (: I love Christmas themed stories and this one made me laugh and smile quite a few times!
I really identified with Nel and her self-conscious thoughts, and I think a lot of other readers will, too. And Jake is such a cutie! Definitely put this on your TBR!

This was such a cute little book! Short at 166 pages but I loved every minute of it!!
The FMC was plus size too which made a nice change - though they could have made that obvious on the cover!
Still a fab little story for the festive period!

3.75⭐️ This was a very charming and cute Christmas novella. I liked the full figure/curvy girl representation. Really cool that she was also a boudoir photographer. love a little “forbidden love” with best friend’s brother action. I also felt like for such a small book it dealt with grief in a beautiful way!

I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy of this book and I absolutely devoured it! It was short and sweet with the right amount of spice. I read it on the rainiest weekend and we had the fire on so it felt like we’d skipped autumn and went straight to winter!
Nel is Harry’s little sister, Jake is Harry’s best friend. They both get invited to spend 4 days at Christmas at Harry and Lisa’s house but the hotel they’re both staying in mess up the reservations and they end up sharing a room. This book had me laughing as well as swooning and gave me allll the festive feels (even though it is only October). I would definitely recommend reading this book this winter!

I had the absolute pleasure of ARC reading this little pocket rocket and I LOVED it.
Curvy girl, riddled with self doubt is reacquainted with brothers hot best friend, with hot, steamy and comical parts all the way through. (Is that not the dream?!) Its a big yes and a highly recommend from me.

I received an ARC of this book and had a fun time reading it.
The book centers on complicated Christmas holidays for our curvy MC. Nel is a woman who has lost both of her parents within the last twelve months and is journeying to her "perfect" older brother's home to spend the holidays with him, his perfect wife, her family, and unexpectedly, her brother's lifelong best friend and Nel's longtime crush, Jake Partridge.
The book is a fun romance with kind characters and a touch of Christmas spirit and hijinks. The plot moves smoothly forward, there's plenty of moments that made me laugh, and nice development of the MC.

H.R. Lloyd is rapidly becoming one of my favourite romance authors and honestly I urge you all to go and read her stuff because she will have you falling in love with even more fictional men and setting that bar HIGH for the real world.

One of the things I love most about her writing is that she just *gets people*. She gets the weird hang-ups, insecurities and little things we convince ourselves everyone else is noticing, without ever making you want to give the character a massive eye roll and scream JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER.
Somehow she has mastered writing genuinely relatable people without making them cringey, and I am SO here for it.
And Nel. My girl. 🥹
What I loved most about this book was that when we're told Nel is plus size, she is actually written as a plus-size woman.
I’ve read so many books where the FMC is described as “plus size” and then you realise what they actually mean is she has a tiny waist, big boobs and an arse. She’s curvy in all the socially acceptable places, has zero cellulite, her body never jiggles somewhere without permission and somehow she has absolutely no complicated feelings about existing in it.
Nel felt REAL.
Her body moves. She has cellulite. She has insecurities. She questions whether someone like Jake could genuinely want her. Her relationship with her body isn’t wrapped up neatly in a little “but actually I love every inch of myself!” bow.
And THAT is what made me love her.
Because at the same time, she's a boudoir photographer/model putting herself out there, taking up space, embracing her sexuality and helping other women and men feel confident doing the same. I loved that she could be bold and sexy and empowering while still having those moments where her own insecurities crept back in.
Because confidence doesn't magically mean you never feel insecure again.

I will ALWAYS be here for a man who falls HARD for my girls, but what I loved about Jake was how gentle he was with Nel without treating her like she needed fixing.
He listened to her. He reassured her. He let her tell him what she was scared of and then essentially went, “respectfully, you're being ridiculous because have you SEEN yourself?”
But he never tried to turn her into a different version of herself.
He already knew about the confident, sexy side Nel showed online — he'd literally been following her for years — and instead of being intimidated by it, he wanted HER. The shy Nel around her family, the woman she'd grown into, the boudoir model, the insecure bits, the filthy bits… ALL OF IT.
SIR???
And watching Nel revert slightly back into that awkward girl with a lifelong crush when she's suddenly spending Christmas with Jake made their whole dynamic even cuter. She has all this confidence in one area of her life and then this man walks into the room and suddenly she's internally combusting like a teenager again 😭
Add in the fact that she’s grieving her parents, trying to navigate Christmas with her brother and his family, AND sharing a room — and BED — with the man she's fancied for basically forever???
You simply could not ask me to leave.
And can we talk about how the spice actually worked WITH the relationship???
It wasn't just “hello, here is your scheduled sex scene 🌶️.”
Their physical relationship felt like another way Jake was showing Nel exactly how he saw her. There was attraction, yes — A LOT OF ATTRACTION, THANK YOU H.R. LLOYD — but underneath it was this tenderness that made the whole thing hit so much harder.
Jake Partridge: simultaneously the hottest and sweetest man in the room.
My standards are absolutely screwed.
The ONLY downside?
IT'S A NOVELLA.
I could have carried on reading Nel and Jake for another 400 pages. Give me Boxing Day. Give me New Year. Give me February 3rd while they're arguing over what takeaway to order. I DO NOT CARE. I would've stayed.
Instead I inhaled the whole thing and was left there like…

This was actually fun, short, sweet, and easy. I just ran into this book today and got interested right away. I was like, okay, this is a novella, it’s super short, and I don’t have a lot of time to read today, so let me just pick something I can finish real quick. I’m happy I did.
Honestly, I have zero complaints. I had fun. I was giggling, smiling, I love that it didn’t feel rushed, which I usually worry about with novellas since there’s not much time to dive into details. But this one didn’t feel rushed at all. I liked that it focused on just a few days, and that’s why it worked so well.
I felt their connection and chemistry. The banter was amazing, I was giggling and laughing every time they talked or interacted.
I also liked the found family in this book. To be honest, I don’t remember half their names because there were so many people, like ten of them, but I still liked it. I want to keep reading the next books. I’m actually interested in their stories too.
The spice was good, just the right amount of detail without overpowering the story, especially for something so short. I was a little scared it might, but not at all. The plot still came through perfectly.
Do I wish it was longer? Maybe. Mostly because I’d love to see more of their background, how they met, how they started interacting, how the feelings started. But honestly, the way it is now, it’s perfect. I didn’t need all that extra context to enjoy it.
Also, no third-act breakup! None of that unnecessary drama authors sometimes throw in for no reason. I loved that.
Overall, this is a solid 3.5 to 4 ⭐️ for me. I really enjoyed it. For spice, maybe a 2 🌶️, perfect balance between spice and plot. Beautifully done.

Jake is perfection in every sense of the word. He’s build like a god, is a schoolteacher and even volunteers as a fireman. And he’s Nel’s brother’s best friend.
Nel comes home for Christmas, after the loss of her parents and not spending as much time with her brother and his family as she maybe should have and she is nervous. She’s spending the holidays with her brother and his perfect family, as well as his extended family and you guessed it! Jake!

I absolutely adore them as a couple. They’re so beautiful for one another. So perfect. The happiness that the other has sought for so long.

If you read any spicy Christmas book this year - I strongly suggest you pick this one!
I read this book in the space of 2 hours and I was quite honestly obsessed 🥵
The story follows Nel, our FMC who's a plus sized babe working on loving herself for who she is after being ridiculed and picked on by her older brother Harry and his friends when she was younger, by working as a boudoir photographer and helping others love themselves in their own bodies too. Enter Jake, Harry's chiseled and drop dead gorgeous teacher best friend who comes to spend Christmas with Nel and her family and let's just say things get SPICY!
One bed, brothers best friend, forbidden romance, Christmas kisses under the mistletoe I mean could you ask for anything else?
Literally my only complaint is I wanted MORE and I could have read about their story for another 200 pages.
This is the first book of Hannah's I've read and I can't wait to read more of her work because it was 🤌

Loved this book.
Yet again H R Lloyd has brought everything into this book.
Loved how warm and cozy this book made feel. Absolutely loved the characters.
Nel is a big girl who has over come many obstacles, one being her weight, and her brother Harry does not help with this even if it is unconsciously. And she has had a crush on her brothers best friend for like forever!
Harry is nels brother and does not approve of his sister career choice. And belittles her without realising. With losing both parents in a short space of time. He takes the role of a parent instead of been a brother.
Jake is a scrumptious man specimen and made me feel hot under the collar. He sees Nel for who she is and stalks her on her social media accounts and starts falling for Nel.
There is some smut in this book but it takes a while to get there but wow it is a little steamy!
Yet again H R Lloyd has brought everything into this book.

I can’t tell you how many time this novella had me laughing out loud! A fabulously fun, Christmasy romcom from HR Lloyd that leaves you with all the feels for this adorable couple!
It’s a full house family Christmas, grief, brothers best friend MMC (yep, he’s the teenage crush!), some cyber stalking-ish, one bed, mistletoe, spice and a sexy Santa!
I absolutely loved the overall story. Nel is such a sweet character. She’s had an emotional time of it and is then presented with the gorgeous Jake. He in tern has noticed her from afar, as more than just his best mate’s baby sister. And so ensues the flirting and well, you can guess where that leads 🔥

This was such a fun read! I was laughing all the way through. I honestly do not read fluffy books enough. It did touch on some hard topics, being fatphobia and grief, but kept it pretty light overall.
I loved that there was no third act breakup as well. It is so refreshing to read romance books without unnecessary breakups. This was such a fluffy and funny read when I really needed one and I hope everyone picks it up when it comes out!
Also, loved hearing about Nel's job taking sexy photos of people. I didn't know anyone did that! I'm sure lots of couples would actually do that for one another.

A perfect Christmas romcom
Okay so I might be starting Christmas very early, reading this in September, but I was too excited and couldn't put it down. This story made me laugh, it made me mad (the fat 'jokes' felt so real - I was so mad for Nel), it made me cry and it made me fall in love. It's beautifully written and draws you into the world being created. I absolutely loved the FMC - I wish more books had a curvy female lead. A perfect Christmas short to get ready for the festive season.

This Christmas novella really got me in the mood for cosy season. A traditional British Christmas with Nel finding herself spending Christmas with her longtime crush who also happens to be her brother’s best friend. I really resonated with Nel and her fragile confidence. The characters are well written and there are some humorous elements of the novella which brought out a bit of festive pantomime type comedy. A great cosy read.

Cozy little Christmas romance. I really enjoyed this book, it was a perfect start to launch the festive spirit. The main character Nel was a lovable, plus sized queen and I loved seeing a main character with curves and a body we see in real life. She had a beautiful personality and I loved seeing it evolve, as well as how the relationships in the book grow and evolve. For a short read, the character development and growth was really good, the setting was lovely, had just enough spice, and just enough wanting to occasionally throttle a character. I still think about the main characters a couple of weeks later, so I was properly able to update my review after I've had time to let the story settle. I think it'll be an annual comfort read!

Love Nel and Jake
I absolutely loved A Partridge on Pear Street! Nel and Jake had fabulous character, the supporting characters were really fun too.
It made me laugh and cry and really connect to the characters with their grief and sibling relationships.
I'm sat here still smiling because of how much I enjoyed this story and especially enjoyed the epilogue! Hopefully we might see other characters in future books (novellas) or even revisiting.

This is my first official Christmas book I’ve ever read and I was NOT disappointed. It’s beautifully written and the story made me cry both happy and sad tears through out. Please read it, it’s such a fast read and it put me straight into the Christmas spirit. Plus who doesn’t like some good smut, it was the perfect amount for a book this size, I quite literally have no complaints which is why it’s a 5 star for me.

I love this book. The 2 main characters are believable, I especially like the FMC, she was real and relatable. We all have things we don't like about ourselves and this author wrote about them with empathy.

This book was everything I didn’t know I needed. I simply could not put it down. I read it in one sitting.
Nel the FMC was written so well, I feel like she was very relatable, being very self-conscious especially stepping her family.
Jake the cutest MMC ever, super protective and stands up for his woman, and helps to bring her out of her shell.
Their banter, and chemistry was great.
I loved the characters in this book and cannot wait to read book 2.

Nel is beautiful and curvy and has trauma with a little anxiety. Which makes my heart bleed for her!

I loved this book. Right from the start you get immersed into the story. Nel’s character is so relatable, you instantly feel all the emotions she is. Nel and Jakes story gives you all the feels, and it was laugh out loud funny, heartfelt, romantic and sexy. I would definitely recommend for any reader.
