Deborah is fascinated by plants and dreams of attending college to become a botanist. As a negro in the 1870's, she doesn't know if she will ever fulfill her dream. Doctor Timothy Smith who married her twin who passed away from an illness and their daughter Lily are returning to become the new doctor in their small town when the present doctor retires. Will Timothy's previous relationship with Deborah interfere with their working together or not?

Dowdy's books always have a wonderful message and a strong Christian thread which makes them a delight to read. I look forward to read her newest release in this series.

I think I’ve read this book before -it seemed familiar. But I enjoyed the story of Deborah and Dr. Washington. They had always been friend, and a little bit of family drama was a current issue for them. I wouldn’t want to be in Deborah’s predicament. Follow your heart or is this right or wrong. In the historical setting, this was likely socially acceptable.

My Thoughts

'The Doctor's Bride' was an exciting read of how Deborah and Timothy finally got together after it seemed like her twin sister had something to do with that. Now, to get the whole story of what had happened, once Deborah and Timothy had been friends, it seemed like something had come between them. To find out what that was all about, you must read the novella to see what can happen when the enemy comes in. All that is left to say is when something is for you, our God will give it all to you and more, as what happened to Deborah.
