Marcus is looking to keep magics of old where they belong… buried deep in the past.
Marcus’s new position as liaison between the Centaurs and the Council is not just a “looks good on paper” kind of promotion. It will allow him to continue his attempts to thwart the mistakes of old from being repeated again. The only problem is, how can they be mistakes if they are what brought his mate into existence?
Luan spent centuries thinking he'd always be alone, destined to be mateless. When his brother finds his forever love, it sparks hope. And now that he’s scented his mate, he couldn’t be happier.
Only one problem: Luan wants to protect his mate at all costs, including his job. If only it were “just a job” and not a mission to keep shifter kinds safe from the unthinkable.

Jena began writing in January of 2013 as a New Year's Resolution--and so far she has stuck to it!
She lives in Michigan. By day she works as a web developer, and at night she writes. Born and raised on a farm, she spends most of her free time outdoors, playing in the garden, or riding her horses. She also helps run the family dairy farm.
"The moon shone above us, the goddess herself blessing our union"
This is book 2 in the Waiting Hearts: Centaurs series by Jena Wade and the writing duo of Lorelei M Hart. I love this series which is a spin-off of the Asilo Pride series. When I saw this 2nd book on Booksprout I couldn't wait to read and review.
Centaurs are an interesting species and the magic they possess is like nothing I've read before. I love when an author can make a story more interesting with new and innovative things I haven't read before.
In this book Luan gets a mate!!! Now the only brother left is Apollo, I can't wait to see who they pair him up with.
Opening up their lands to visitors and possibly new friends that would want to move and make their home there is quite the adjustment for the brothers.
I gotta say it was a bit confusing by all the 'M' named omega characters. We have Marcus, Luan's mate. Then there's Maddox, Terran's mate. Then last but not least we have Matty, Armand’s mate. Hopefully Apollo's mate's name won't start with 'M' too. 😉 As I get older I realize that I often times don't remember the characters names. Not sure why, it just is. I know who the characters are I just don't remember their names.
I enjoyed the references to Steelwick, Greycoast, Northbay, Asilo, and Fracture Fang packs. It's always fun when authors crisscross their series. It feels like coming home.
The Centaur's Sacrifice is the second book in the Waiting Hearts: Centaurs series by the always wonderful Lorelei M Hart and Jena Wade. This is a shape shifter omegaverse romance with drama, misunderstandings and m-preg.
I think this book would be okay as a standalone book. However, I highly recommend reading these books in order. I had to go back to the first book a couple times to refresh my mind about the premise of the centaur curse and their now integration into the world with the rest of shifter and human kind.
The book follows the omega rabbit shifter, Marcus. He lives in a pack with many other kinds of shifters and becoming the liaison between the Shifter Council and the Centaurs is something that he feels could be the perfect job for him. Luan is one of the Centaur leaders. One of his brothers has already found his mate in a shifter from the outside world, which is now the reason why the centaurs need to integrate and need a liaison. Expecting a shifter to visit him Luan is stunned to realise that Marcus is his mate. Marcus is just as stunned. But since Luan and his herd have been isolated for a thousand years there are bound to be some differences and teething problems when it comes to finding love.

- a MM shifter/monster romance! centaur x rabbit, omegaverse, fated mates, MPreg, found family! - the mistakes in this one may be one the worst (i still love it tho) - omg he changed into his bunny as soon as he saw his mate!! that moment was too cute - we do love a heat scene i must say, their sex scenes are SO good - NO I DON’T WANT THEM TO FIGHT 😭 - oh my god what Luan said HURT, and it made it so much worse that Marcus overheard it 🥺 - that fight lasted way longer than i expected it to and i feel like Luan should of done proper grovelling but i am glad they made up - and their make up sex was EXCELLENT - ahhh i’m so glad Lissy and Mia are here!! they were some of my fav side characters in Greycoast - okay this councilman family is so entitled and i wanna hit them - what is it with these books going from 0-100, like what!! - good third act conflict tho!! was a bit insane?? - also the way Luan lifted Marcus up and fully trusted him and was just showering him with compliments, it was perfect - and the epilogue was amazing!! i would of liked like a couple more pages tho, ended a bit abruptly
Alpha centaur Luan lives with his alpha brothers Apollo and Terran, and his new human omega Maddox, in their isolated forest world. Omega rabbit shifter Marcus takes on the position of liaison between the Centaurs and the Council. Luan senses Marcus as he makes his way into their forest and is immediately drawn to the mate his heart calls out for - so sweet when Luan holds Marcus in his arms. Things heat up quickly between Luan and Marcus, and the pair soon find themselves expecting. But their relationship isn't all smooth sailing when misunderstandings, cultural differences, and drama threaten their happiness together. "Perhaps we both thought it would be easy simply because we are mates, but relationships require effort." Lovely to have old and new friends back for this series. Sweet and spicy MM shifter-centaur fated mates mpreg romance with Omegaverse elements (AO, heat, and more). Looking forward to glowery Apollo’s story.
Hidden strengths. Marcus is the liaizon between the Centaurs and the Council. He wants to learn from past mistakes. He is an independent fierce warrior He's conflicted because he's appreciative he now has found his mate, but his mate is a bit old school. Luan, didn't believe he'd find his mate, and is ready to plow ahead. Marcus and Luan are made for each other, but first they need to find their balance as a couple, smoothing out their different beliefs. They are additionally challenged by outside forces who don't mean the community well. Will they band together fighting a common energy and finding their balance in the process? The best part is finding how the authors create a supportive loving fierce couple. The authors do a fantastic job with theme continuity and basically creating amazing men. Good story, nice flow, hot cover art! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I found this book juvenile, to be honest. There were also so many editing issues that used things like none one vs no one. Things that were just not right to the eye, but you could not see it until you re read it. It tossed me out of the story fairly frequently for a story this short. The main characters issues seemed valid, but I am unsure as to how they arose to begin with. The visitors drama seemed really out in left field. I was unable to really understand the actual family dynamic. The kids sounded 10 to 12 with they way they were introduced but the incident with Marcus was older teenage. Maybe even young man. I just did not think the story was indepth, or offered any real substance to support the whole bringing the centaurs to world. Just didn't find it an engrossing read.
'This was my mate. The one created just for me. Perfect for me in all ways. I picked him up in my arms, and though I’d never taken a step on my human feet, I was able to make it to my bed. This new body, it was made for him. The goddess saw what our creator did not.'
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and centaur romance is a rarer find for me, so I was looking forward to book two. I loved Luan and Marcus together. I enjoyed the way their relationship developed and their chemistry sizzled.
'It was so much more than the physical— it was like our two souls snapped together and suddenly I was truly home for the very first time.'
Their relationship wasn't all smooth sailing, but I enjoyed how it all turned out by the end. Looking forward to book three. 4 stars
This is book 2 in the series and I enjoyed as much as the first one. Marcus, a bunny shifter, came to the forest to act as the liaison for the centaurs. Luan was waiting for the liaison, when he heard his heart song and ran to greet Marcus. They both realized that they were mates. After a bit of a bumpy start, their relationship progressed. Love the world building, and love that is is mpreg. Cannot wait to see who Apollo’s mate will be.
Not your traditional alpha and omega. When Marcus accepted a job, he never anticipated meeting his fated mate. It seems Luan and Marcus succumbed to communication issues. Did I mention these two lacked the ability to compromise? Well, it almost cost them their future. Thrilled all worked out in the end, but what a ride to the HEA.

Marcus gets his chance to find his fated mate in Luan. The two have a couple of bumps in the road but they manage to overcome their tiff and Marcus gets himself out of a dangerous situation. Great book and sweet mates!.

What a sweet love story between Alpha Luan and Omega Marcus. Marcus accepted a job as a liaison for the centaurs not expecting to meet his fated mate. Due to poor communication and lack of compromise their relationship almost ended before it truly began.

It was okay. The story felt amateurish, and they felt more like juveniles. I didn't read the first book, so I don't know if their world was explained more inadept, but I did feel a little lost with their history. Also, I love seeing time with my shifters spending time in in their shifted forms. The incident was kind of confusing, really didn't understand why it was done. I guess I wanted more.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. It is an engaging tale that is hard to put down. I like how Marcus and Luan are drawn together and become mates. I liked how they worked together to make their relationship a success.
I am really enjoying this spin off series. This was such a wonderful and emotional story. I really liked how they had to work for their relationship even though they were fated. I can’t wait for the next story.
I appreciated that this wasn't your usual "oh fate put us together so everything works great between us" story. Marcus and Luan's story was very entertaining to read. It kept me interested all the way through.
This was a great addition to the series. Loved the feel and flow of the storyline and how the characters interact with each other. The ending was perfect with a cute little baby boy to cuddle. Lovely.
The authors did a good job continuing the storyline from one book to the next. There were steamy scenes, this couple had misunderstandings that they were eventually worked out! I can't wait to see what happens in Book 3.
The second book in the series we have Luan and Marcus. As in the previous book, we have the pull to go to the forest but unbeknownst to Marcus he was about to meet his destiny.
This is great series & I love how the authors brought in others from the other packs!!!! I'm still amazed with the centuries I hope they get more integrated with the other packs - hope you all love these stories as Mich as I do!!! Thank you -Lori
What was sacrificed or given up? Nothing! Was there any character development? No! Did I finish it because I hate putting books down once I start? Yes!
Just -- no. I was expecting mediocre and did not even get that. For details see the review for Waiting Hearts Centaurs #1. Same problems only more so - the plot sucked.
