Pine Village #2

Pretty Dependable

Ellie

Being a single mom is the most challenging, yet rewarding job I’ve ever had. Especially in a small town, where everyone knows your story, or at least their version of it.

They say it takes a village, and they’re right. I’ve been lucky to have close friends to help me raise my son, Brody. One particular friend stands out above the rest. TD stepped up in a big way, teaching my son everything a father should. That’s why his friendship means so much to me. Both Brody and I rely on his friendship. Any feelings I have for my sexy friend must stay buried. It’s safer that way.

Turns out, it’s much harder to do when he decides he’s done being just my friend. He wants more.

TD

There’s nothing worse than being in lust with one of your friends. For years, I’ve been fighting my attraction to Ellie and keeping it a secret. I thought I was doing what was best for all of us.

Between working as the local police officer and coaching high school football, I’m left with very little downtime, but what I do have is spent with Ellie and her son. When I find out the seventeen-year-old boy might be working to get this football coach and his mom together, all bets are off. With Brody on my side, I’m willing to take the chance and blur the lines between friends and lovers.

I have to make her see we can have it all. Despite her reservations, I’ll show her love is worth the risk.

Avid reader, writer, mother, and wife! I love to read contemporary romance. Add in a little "spice" or hot guys in uniform pants, and I'm a happy woman. There's just something about diving into a book and engrossing in the magic of your hero and heroine getting their happily ever after.

I LOVED everything about this one! Lacey Black is one of my TOP small-town romance authors and Pretty Dependable is classic Lacey!!! Ellie is the strong and completely devoted single mom to Brody, who she has been raising on her own (since her UBER religious parents tossed her out when she got pregnant at 17) But she's had the help of her close-knit friends and TD, especially, has stepped up and been a stellar father figure to Brody!

As this slow burn, best friends-to-lovers story progresses, you have a ring-side seat to all the fun! This story will make you laugh, the emotions will have you all up in your feels and the heartwarming relationship between TD and Brody? Yeah, my heart is so full! The sizzling chemistry, which was kinda obvious from the beginning, is on point too! The push-pull between Ellie and TD is crazy good! TD is the perfect Alpha, protective and loving and he's right up there with my fave BBFs!

I am so looking forward to seeing more of this group of chosen family and friends in the AMAZING small town of Pine Village (even the name evokes that small-town feel!) I can't WAIT!!!

I have a list of go to Small Town romance authors and Lacey Black is definitely at the top of that list. She writes the stories that simply make you feel good the whole time you read them. She gives you strong, sexy alphas who care and aren’t afraid to show it, and who doesn’t want that? This book is part of her Pine Village series, all standalones with interconnected characters, and all of them you are sure to love.

Ellie is a single mom with an almost grown son, and she’s had to do a lot on her own, but at her side is her tribe, family by choice since her family by blood turned their backs on her and her son. But no one has been there for her more than TD, her best friend, the man her son looks up to, the man who always has her back.

TD has been in love with his best friend since high school, after a camping trip with Ellie’s son he makes a decision that will change everything. The question is, will Ellie like his decision or will she be too afraid to change?

Read this one, TD is the absolute best, he’s what romance heroes are to the core. Lacey totally killed it with this one. And the series isn’t done! There will be more to come from this group of friends and the small town of Pine Village, do not miss out!

This is exactly what I wanted for this new small-town series. I fell instantly in love with TD and Ellie and then throw in Brody and the three are a perfect family. There was plenty to swoon over and plenty to get your heart pumping, but it was the special way TD and Ellie loved each other that made this whole book sing.

I didn't want to put it down (sure sign it is five stars in my opinion) and every time I did I just wanted to get it back so I could watch them fall.

TD is a police officer and the school football coach. He's dependable, hard-working, trustworthy, and a solid friend. He's also been in love with Ellie since high school, but he missed his chance and when someone else got Ellie in trouble and then left her alone he stepped up to help in every way he could and kept his feelings safely locked away.

Ellie was a single mum in her senior year of high school. Kicked out of her home and left alone when her boyfriend denied it was ever his child. She's not alone though, with help from Frannie (the local diner owner) and her best friends she manages to make it through all the rough patches. Life isn't always easy and she works hard but Brody is about to graduate high school and she couldn't be prouder. Ellie is a quiet achiever and has a heart as big as the sky. She loves Brody with everything she has and makes his life the best she can. Feeling things for TD has been happening more and more but she's always denied any feelings not knowing how she would survive if she lost her best friend.

They danced around each other a bit and that first kiss was everything you would want it to be. It was Brody who finally gave them that last push they needed. I really enjoyed that there was no hard patch that nearly pulled them apart. Instead, they build this really solid relationship, and together the three of them face all the demons of their past.

Loved it!!! Look forward to book three in this series.
.
.
.
Ellie is watching her son grow up so fast. His senior year is here and soon he'll be finding his own way out in the world. She couldn't be prouder of the man he's become and she's sure she owes some of that to her best friend TD. Thomas Dexter has supported her and helped since she found out she was going to be a mother and she's pretty sure part of the man Brody has become is thanks to TD. Since Brody started playing for the football team he coaches he's been an even bigger supporter for her and Brody.
'The last thing I need is to get all caught up in my feelings over someone who had me safely and securely tucked in the friend zone. I need him too much to ever jeopardize our friendship by entertaining thoughts of something more. TD and I are friends and that's all we'll ever be.
I'm okay with that. Sometimes I just have to tell my heart to get on board.'

TD missed his shot with Ellie in high school and if things had been different he maybe could have had her all this time, but then there wouldn't be Brody. Brody is an amazing young man and TD is proud to know him and be a part of his and his mother's life. Wanting Ellie hasn't changed over the years though and lately, the want is getting harder to ignore. With one kiss his hunger and desire for Ellie takes off. She's not ready to risk what could happen between them and he couldn't ever lose them either. Holding back his feelings is going to be even harder now.
'The first taste of her sends my senses into overdrive, and I realize my mistake immediately. I never want to stop kissing her.'

Brody can see all their lives moving forward and for his mother whom he adores and TD, his coach and friend he sees a future of them together. He just needs to get them to look at what's right in front of them and then they can get their happily ever after, exactly what he thinks they deserve.
"I guess I want to finish by saying if anyone is going to date my mom, I really want it to be you."

Happy Reading.

i think after you have read like more than a dozen books from an author, you will realise their execution or writing seems to be always on the same path, nothing really exciting to me. i would say that for this book, i was really really bored and i will take a break from reading this author's books.

I was in a rut when I started this book. But single mom and friends to lovers are two of my favorite tropes and I could not put this down. It's sweet, it's typical Lacey Black small towns. I didn't want it to end and I enjoyed coming back to Pine Village and can't wait until our next trip there!

Oh my... This series is just something else. Making me connect with each new couple in each of the new books so beautifully and effortlessly that I feel like I'm falling in love again and again with each book.

I loved book 1 in this series, which is Gabe and Blair's story and in that we had seen Ellie, the single mom who's such a sweet person and TD who's been her friend forever, and in spite of there being obvious sparks, both didn't want to go there.

First off, I loved seeing the family dynamics and the relationships that were carved out of mutual friendship and love that TD shares with Ellie and her son, Brody.

You don't need to be related by blood to be a family and this book is the endorser of that fact as TD not only is a great friend to Ellie but also has been the perfect father figure to Brody.
And the beauty of it all is that he's never expected anything in return but has enjoyed their company and being with them in whatever capacity he can.

He's also the town cop while also juggling the role of the football coach and this had me in awe of the man, that is TD because he's definitely one of those rare gems that you can ever find in a man.

And when a man like him turns on his blazing charm onto you, there's no way you would be able to resist it and I'm glad that Ellie always has him in her corner.

It was oh so thrilling watching Ellie, the busy and young mom who only knows to take care of her son and has never thought about having much of a personal life, fighting her attraction and dancing around the things she feels for him and TD wanting the woman he's always wanted but never had the courage to do anything about it.

Truly, it was beyond sweet and inducing butterflies kinda feelings, when these two finally give into the massiveness of their feelings towards each other but more so the journey of them reaching that point of acceptance was thrilling and fun.

As always it was amazing meeting the gang and yes, I love how happy Gabe and Blair are together.
But what's getting all the more interesting is the bantering and barbs fired left and right between Hallie and Logan and there's definitely some explosive chemistry going on there which I can't wait to read about in their book.

Ahhh... An absolutely Heart-melting, sweet feels filled, gorgeous ride of love and friendships and people who are bonded together as family not by blood but by love.
Loved loved this one.❤️❤️❤️

Disclaimer: I received this book at no cost from the publisher/author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. I am leaving a voluntary review and all opinions are my own.

Well, friends, I think that I may have a new favorite author! Yep, this was my first Lacey Black book but it will not be my last!

This book is such a goldmine for anyone who loves the single mom, small town, and friends-to-lovers tropes. All the tropes in the story are executed perfectly. I was so taken with Black's writing style. I fell into the story and really connected with the storytelling.

The characters were fantastic. So vibrant and full of depth. Ellie is such a strong and admirable character. She was so relatable and I connected with her easily. TD has so much honor and such a big heart. Brody was so likable and the three of them together were pretty epic. The secondary characters are fantastic. There is a strong found family aspect to the story that I really loved.

The friends-to-lovers trope in this book is written so well. Ellie and TD were so clearly meant for one another. Their relationship morphing into a romantic one was so natural and organic. They were already such huge and important parts of each other's lives. The chemistry and sexual tension are intense between them.

Overall, this is an emotional and heartwarming love story that will put the biggest smile on your face! This is a book that will captivate you from start to finish. I was so taken with this story and I am excited to read the other books in this series.

I rate this book a 4.5

I really enjoyed reading this book by Lacey Black. I have not read the 1st book from the series, but I just added it to my Kindle after reading this one. This is truly a love story kind of romance. Low angst and slow burn. It's not my normal go-to kind of book because I like spicy, smutty romance. But that didn't take away from the joy I felt reading this one. It really was a heart-felt book.

Ellie became pregnant her senior year in high school. She had it really tough while pregnant. Her very religious parents turned their backs on her and her son, throwing her out. The father of her son denied the child from the beginning. This book shows just how strong and independent Ellie really is. Raising her son Brody by herself, but also having great friends to help her out. She had her own found family. Reading what she went through was tough because I know how true this can be in real life. He struggles really hit me because I have seen this in real life through wit a few friends. I've even had friends (key word had) who had their teen become pregnant, and they turned their backs on them. I just don't understand it. How can someone you create and love more than life itself just make you turn away from them? Sorry, I'm side tracking, but it really got me in my feels.

Ok, back to review. Fast forward, and Ellie's son Brody is 17 years old. He's a really good kid and loves his mom. He plays football in high school, where his coach is TD. TD is also a full-time police officer for their small town Pine Village. TD is an important person in both Ellie and Brody's life. He loved Ellie in high school but missed his chance when she got with that loser baby daddy. He's never left her, though. Always stuck around and being someone they both could depend on. His feelings for Ellie had never left either. Ellie also shares these feelings, but she's too scared to act on them. She doesn't want to lose her best friend if anything were to happen.

The author did an amazing job drawing you into their story. You could feel the back and forth tug between the two main characters throughout the whole book. She had you cheering them on and making you hopeful that Ellie and TD would finally get their HEA. The relationship between TD and Brody is everything, too. He's the father figure in Brody's life, and it really shows. Brody wants his mom and TD to be together. He sees their love and wants them both happy. After a camping trip that TD and Brody go on, TD decides he's going to go after what he wants... Ellie. The first kiss these two share is everything. You feel that kiss in your heart and soul. It was described so perfectly. The whole book was described perfectly. Will Ellie finally let herself be with TD? Or will the fear of losing her best friend stop her from the love she desires.

Pretty Dependable was a sweet and lovely friends to lovers romance that proves that being dependable can be romantic and sexy.

Ellie Daniel's was a teen mom. When the father and his family refuse to accept the news and her own family kicks her out, she makes her own way for herself and her newborn with the help of friends who have stood by her every step of the way. Her son, Brody, is now a senior and all of a sudden everything is changing . . .especially how she sees her best friend TD.

Thomas Dexter has been in love with Ellie since highschool, but has never crossed the line because he knows she and Brody needed him in the friend role. But now that Brody practically threw his mom at TD he thinks it's finally time to take that leap.

Brody may not have had a dad by blood, but TD has been there for every step big or small in his life. There couldn't be a better person for him or his mom, so he decides to play matchmaker.

This story was just lovely and is a top read of mine for 2023. It literally exudes all the feels on every single page! It’s a slow burn and it's honestly the best watching these lifelong friends finally acknowledge the spark that has been simmering between them for years.

Ellie is so strong and the best mom. She works hard to provide and care for Brody and everyone around her. She deserves the best that life has to offer. TD is the quiet and dependable hero, always there to support and protect Ellie and Brody. I’m so glad he finally crossed the line. And, Brody is the best kid and sweetest teen. He has such a good relationship with his mom and adored TD. I loved watching him looking our for his mom and giving her and TD the shove they both needed.

Grab your tissues, just relax and enjoy and take it all in because this love story is gorgeous.

5 stars!

This is such a heartwarming book of a village of friends, coming together to help their friend raise her baby as best they all can. Knowing she can handle it alone, but why should she? The sperm donor sure didn't stick around to help, that was for sure. He did however leave shame, and guilt in his wake. But, Ellie Daniels did her best to do and spend as much time, as she could with, Brody. Ellie’s friends are Hallie, Blair, Gabe, Logan, and Thomas Dexter(TD).

TD has been, Brody’s biggest role model. He has gotten even closer to, TD since Brody started high school. Being that, TD is his coach since Brody is on the football team. It's his senior year, his mom is having a hard time thinking of all the time between kindergarten and senior. How fast it seemed to have gone by. Since TD is over on the regular she even told him, ‘It just seems, Brody was going into kindergarten, and now he’s a senior.’

The more and more they come together, after practice, and eat at her home. The more they both envisioned a life, with each other. They both hadn't gotten up enough nerve to breach, the friendship barrier they had erected. Luckily for them, they had, Brody. He doesn't want material things, what he does want is worth more than gold, especially to him. If you like, Friday night football games, close-knit friendships, and a town of good people who are there for one another. Then, this is the book for you.

I absolutely adore Lacey Black. I've yet to pick up her book to find something that did not speak to me. And this one was no exception. >b>Ellie has made a good life for herself and her son. She's hard working, funny and very protective of those who she calls family. But her best friend and her rock has always been her crush but she's definitely not going to do anything about it because his friendship is too important to her and her son to loose.

TD has loved Ellie for as long as he'd known her. He was too slow back in high school to ask her out, but with permission from her son, he's taking his chance and is determined to prove they're meant for each other.

Everything about their friendship turned into a love relationship was right. They considered her son, who was awesome, they talked about their fears and wishes and when they finally got behind closed doors? Good god almighty I needed a fan. I'm looking forward to see Logan and Hallie getting their chance at love. The bickering is hilarious and I'm here for all the drama I know his ex will bring to the table.

Ellie is a single mother that has raised her boy with lots of help from her friends .TD helped a lot and has had a crush on her for ever. It’s Brodies Sr year and TD is his coach.TD spends a lot of time with Brodie brings him home they have dinner a lot together all 3 of them. They start to have really strong feelings for each other.
Brodie and TD go on camping trip TD 2ants to ask if he can date he’s mother. Before he can Brodie tells him I think you should date my mom. So they set up a good time. TD asks her out. They go to TD house were he has dinner catered. He’s redone the patio set up a tv and pillow s and blankets. They watch a movie. She is awed that he did all that.
TD is the coach of the football team. And Brodie is one of the top players. His mom comes to every game and TD takes her home. On SR night the mom Mets him, and as they walk he pulls TD cause he’s been he’s dad. Ellie cry’s as she’s so moved.
They move in with TD and all is going good. TD and Brodie go camping again. TD wants to ask to marry Ellie before he can Brodie says I think you should marry my mom. They call her out right then. Brodie tells her he wants to change his name then TD pulls out the ring and asks her to marry him. She’s so moved.
It’s a beautiful story of moving from friends to lovers and excepting another’s son as your own.

Some things in life are worth waiting for — and this slow burn, friends-to-lovers romance is exactly that! TD and Ellie’s love began long before they were ready. I’m a firm believer that sometimes we have to take the hard path before we stroll on easy street because may not have appreciated it as much if it had been handed to us.

I immediately connected to Ellie because she is determined to make the best of everything and as a single mom, she has always put Brody first. She has given him a life that in turn, has made him a respectful, kind-hearted young man.

TD waited one day too late to make Ellie his — and this honorable man has spent the past nearly 18 years making it up by being there for her and Brody. I love his relationship with her son and how it progresses to more of a formal father/son dynamic throughout the book. And Brody’s matchmaking skills are super sweet!

The angst is low — only amping up when Ellie faces her ex’s family. It was a moment of redemption for Ellie to finally put all that to rest and let them go wallow in their own misery. Pine Village is full of wonderfully developed characters who make reading this series feel like coming home to a family. I’m excited for more!

Being friends with Ellie and keeping his feelings for her under wraps all these years has been tough, but somehow he's managed. That is until he starts to suspect that her son is trying to hook them up, if her son is on board with it, then surely Ellie would be too?

The pages of Pretty Dependable are bound to keep you mesmerized and swooning the whole way through. Watching these two explore new territory and give in to their secret feelings for one another was not only entertaining but also good for the heart. They had their reservations about it, considering if it didn't work they wouldn't be the only ones hurt, but they quickly found their footing and never looked back. It was a relief for both of them to finally be able to let those feelings free and give in to their hearts. Nothing is sweeter than romances that create instant families, to see the happiness that love brings, and to also see the children finally get that unity that they've craved... it's so uplifting and heartwarming. I loved every minute of this one, and I know if you give it a chance you will too! Highly recommend!!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

I am loving this Pine Village Series and this book is a fantastic addition. I means who doesn't love a small town, single mom, best-friends to lovers slow burn. Ellie and TD along with Brody will have you feeling all the emotions as you read their story.

As much as Ellie has felt alone all these years since making her decision to keep her high school pregnancy and raise her child without the help of the father or her parents. She has always had the support of her close friend group. They have been there for all of Brody's milestones, helping him to be become a wonderful seventeen year old with so much potential.

Ellie and TD have secretly held crushes for so long that everyone in their group have been waiting patiently for them to step over the imaginary line. Will they finally give themselves the chance at the happiness they both deserve? Can Brody give them the little push that they need to embrace these next steps. Will they finally be the family they all feel deep down in thier hearts?

A great read and a strong recommendation for me. Looking forward to what is to come next in the series.

Ellie had a baby early in life, and instead of her family supporting her, they threw her to the wolves so she had to do it herself. Luckily for her, she has a great group of friends who helped her get through the hard times in life and she's worked hard to become a fantastic mother. She also has TD, one of her best friends who has become a great example of a man in her son's life, and while they've never gone there, these days, he won't leave her mind in another capacity. TD is ready to convince Ellie that they would be perfect for each other, and there's no doubt they have crazy sparks flying around them, but she's terrified if it goes wrong, she would lose him altogether so will he ever convince her to give them a real chance together?! This story was all that & a bag of chips that I simply couldn't get enough of for sure. It had that small town charm that always leaves a smile on my face with the laughter & charming supporting cast. It also left me all up in my feels as I watched the push & pull between these two at building a real relationship without having a ton of drama hit them, plus her son & TD together was everything so yeah, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I am loving small town romances. This one was such a feel good romance read, I absolutely enjoyed every minute of it.

Ellie was so amazing. After being kicked out by her parents when she was a teenager, she got a small apartment and got a job and from then on it was just her and her son.

Now Ellie is the manager at the dinner she got a job at and her son is a senior. She couldn’t have gotten to so far without her friends. Especially her friend TD, who her son sees as a father figure. A friend she has had a crush on for a long time, but never did anything about it as she didn’t want to lose his friendship.

TD is a local police officer and he is the coach of Brody’s football team. He has always been there for Ellie and Brody. And even though he has feelings for her, he didn’t want to ruin their friendship. But then they had one kiss and now its all he can think about…

Sweet, amazing, great chemistry and little bit of angst. All the characters in this story was amazing. I loved how Ellie’s son wanted his mom to be happy 😊 so freaking cute. Definitely a great addition to small town romance 😊

This is the story of Ellie and TD. After getting pregnant in high school and being shunned by her family, Ellie turns to her friends for support. TD, one of her closest friends, has secretly had feelings for her for years. For the past 18 years, he's been a constant in both Ellie and her son Brody’s lives. But when Brody suggests that TD should finally date his mom, TD decides it’s time to take his shot.

This was such a sweet and heartwarming story. I absolutely loved both Ellie and TD. The way TD’s love for Ellie and her son was so clear was really touching, and watching them finally break down the barriers between them and slowly build their relationship was a real treat.

Their dates were adorable, and I appreciated how the relationship developed organically—no unnecessary drama or forced tension. It was just two people finding their way to each other, which felt refreshing. TD’s quiet, unwavering devotion to Ellie and her son made the romance feel real and earned.

Overall, this book was a feel-good journey with great chemistry between the characters, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching them navigate their way to happiness together.

This is the second book in the series and it is so goood!! I could not put this one down. TD and Ellie are going to make you fall in love right along with them. I love a good friends to lovers romance, but also throw in a single mom romance a recipe for a winner for me! This book is also a good reminder family isn't always blood it is sometimes the people we choose to have in our loves. It's a lesson I learned big time myself this year. Ellie and TD are so adorable together. This has a small town setting and that vibe is there through out the book. I love the group of friends as much as I did in the first book. Ellie's son Brody is one remarkable young man and he proves that several times in this book. You can see how close he and his mom are. Ellie hasn't had it easy since becoming pregnant as a teen, but she has had a strong support system all these years with her friends. It made heart happy to see how TD is with Ellie and Brody. He's been there every step of the way. This book has so much heart and feels!! I can't recommend this book enough!!

Great story right here! I'm so loving this new series by Lacey! Ellie, TD & Brody will steal your heart in this one! 5 Pine Village stars!
Ellie has lived her life for her son who's now seventeen and a senior in high school. TD has always been by there side through it all, since her parents walked away from her when she was just seventeen and pregnant, as did the sperm doner as well. She's always crushed on TD, but she never wants to put their friendship in jeopardy, so she keeps it to herself.
TD has crushed on Ellie since high school, and has always stayed by her side! He's afraid to try to tell her his true feelings, so he keeps it to himself, enjoying each moment he gets to spend with her and her son! Will he relent and take a chance on them?
This story pulled me in from the start! I loved the storyline, I loved Ellie and how she always put her son first! And TD? He will have you swooning away for him! Grab this one asap!

This small-town single mom, slow burn, friends to lovers was well-executed. The way these tropes came together generated so much happiness. This was a heartwarming and sweet story.

Kicked out by her parents when she became pregnant in high school, Ellie has worked hard to provide for her son, Brody. She’s rocked it as a single mom. Things haven’t always been easy but Brody has been surrounded by love. TD is a local police officer and Brody’s football coach. As one of Ellie’s closest friends since high school, he’s always been there for Ellie and Brody.

I loved Ellie, TD, and Brody. There was so much to swoon over. The way TD treated the two was so heart-melting. I adored these three and their relationship. It was clear from the start that Ellie and TD had strong feelings for each other and should be together, but kept their feelings a secret. My gosh, the mutual pining and simmering chemistry created the perfect slow burn.

This book was nothing but sweet and swoony moments, with some spice thrown in. I giggled and smiled the entire time.

This is the second book in a series but can be read as a standalone. Characters from the first book do make an appearance. Let me say, the possibilities for the next book have me giddy.

• single mom
• small town
• friends to lovers
• mutual pining
• slow burn
• found family

Talk about dependable, Lacey Black always delivers! Pretty Dependable is a sweet small town romance complete with a teenage matchmaker!

Ellie and TD are best friends. Despite their fear of messing up, they developed "more than friendship" feelings over the years. TD is the most steady, sexy and sweet guy around and stepped up in a big way to help Ellie raise her son. Both are convinced they can't let the butterflies they feel carry them away until Ellie's sweetheart of a son decides to play matchmaker, giving them permission to explore beyond friendship. And nothing has ever felt more right.

This is such a sweet story. Despite some hardships, it never felt angsty, and these characters are the epitome of small-town sweethearts, even if they didn't know it. No one knows how to take care of you better than the best friend who has always taken care of you anyway! Great read!

5 SMOOCHES!

No one does small-town romances quite like Lacey Black, so it’s a given that if she writes one, I’ll be reading it. Pretty Dependable is a heartstring-puller built on the solid foundation of best-friends set against the charming small-town backdrop. There was a bit of an unrequited love/pining for your best friend vibe to this story that I really loved. Lacey’s storytelling is a wonderfully addictive blend of sweet heat and small-town familiarity, and she delivered a heartfelt romance that completely captured the essence of a friendship that turns into soul-deep love. Ellie and TD’s journey was a touching, tender and totally unputdownable best-friends-to-lovers romance that I practically inhaled in a single sitting. I absolutely loved it, I love this series, and I can’t wait for more. Five smooches from me for Pretty Dependable by Lacey Black.

Were back to Pine Village and have to say yay we finally have Ellie and TD. Friends from the start and now it is up to them to risk it all. Seeing these two you can tell the chemistry is all there from the beginning and boy when they finally let go it is more than fireworks lighting up the sky. In many ways TD is the one that makes Ellie stronger proving that she can do anything with the right man rooting for her. Now what really got me was the way TD treated Brody filled with wanting to be a real father for him and just being the coach he needs as a friend. Seeing this bond between them was strong and just proves how much TD belongs with them. Seeing Ellie break from her shell and seeing what real love is just makes this story beautiful till the end. Loved it.

Love this book. Love TD and Ellie’s romance story. Ever since high school, TD has had a crush on Ellie. He has never acted on his feelings. In high school, Ellie ends up pregnant by her then-boyfriend. Her then-boyfriend denies her boy, Brody. Ellie is left raising Brody on her own. Brody is now in high school and his football coach is TD. TD gives Brody a positive male role model. All of TD and Ellie’s friends see that they are in love but they put their relationship in the friend-zone. TD and Ellie don’t want to ruin their friendship. Brody ends up giving TD the push he needed to ask Ellie out. He pretty much told Brody that he regretted not asking Ellie out while they were in high school. When they start their relationship, TD promises Ellie that this won’t harm their friendship if it doesn’t work out. Throughout this book, readers can see how much Brody looks up to TD as a fatherly figure. Love how these two end up together. Worth the read

I love all Lacey’s books this is no exception. Tropes in this one include:
💗single mom
💚friends to lovers
💗small town
💚law enforcement
💗dual pov
💚HEA

This is book 2 in the series. This the story of Ellie and TD. Ellie is a single mom to her 17 yr old son, Brody. They have no other family, as Ellie’s parents disowned her when she was pregnant. TD is her friend, and also her son’s football coach. Ellie and TD have been friends for years and TD has always loved Ellie n wants to take it farther. After talking it over with her son he asks her out. The rest is history. Ellie n Brody have no family, but their friend group has been there support system for 18 years. I love the alpha in TD to protect and take care of Ellie n Brody. I also love how protective Brody is of his mom. A great read if you like these tropes.

This is the second book in this incredible series, and this is Ellie and TD’s story.
Ellie is a strong and devoted single mom, whose parents kicked her out of the house when she was 17 and pregnant, but she has a close knit of friends who were there every step of the way. TD is a local police officer, and he also coaches high school football, and he is a close friend who stepped up to teach her son Brody, things which a father should have done. TD has loved Ellie for a long time, and Brody is on his side to try and get him and Ellie together.
This is a well written easy to read, slow burn, friends / lovers’, emotional roller coaster, with challenges, friendships, secrets, humor, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, romance, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and steamy, small town romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Pretty Dependable is the second book in the Pine Village series. This one is a small town, single mom, friends-to-lovers romance.
Ellie is a single mom to her son, Brody. Both of them can rely on the help and friendship from TD. But now he wants more than just friendship. Can they overcome the fear of losing each other and come out for the better?
Ellie is such a strong woman, raising her son on her own. She may have the help from the people in town and from TD, but still, she’s doing this on her own.
TD is an amazing man. Between his job as a police officer, and helping with the high school football team, he spends the rest of his free time with Ellie and Brody. It makes him like a father figure to Brody. And now he wants to take things further, with the help of her son.
I couldn’t help but fall for TD along the way.
