Buyer Be "Aware"
"...he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live." — Ezekiel 18:17
This cancels "generationalal sin" accountability. There are no generational curses. Christ Jesus offers redemption through repentance of sin and forgiveness.
While I appreciate this author leading others to repentance of sin in their lives, I do not understand why so many teachers lately, are trying to return everyone's mindset to the "old law" from which Christ Jesus clearly freed all humankind?
Christ clearly rebuked the pharisees for adhering to the "letter" of law instead of expanding in heart consciousness to embrace God's "Spirit and Truth," which is freely available to all.
Christian theology, particularly through Jesus's teachings and the New Covenant, shifts the focus from generational punishment to 'individual accountability,' emphasizing that while sin has consequences that can certainly affect families, God judges people for their own sins, not their ancestors', as clarified in Ezekiel 18, which Jesus' message fulfills.
While Old Testament passages like Exodus speak of consequences across generations (often interpreted as natural results of sin, not direct divine punishment on the innocent), Jesus established a New Covenant where personal faith and repentance lead to forgiveness, breaking the cycle of inherited guilt.
Old Testament Context (The "Rule"):
Exodus 20:5: Mentions God punishing descendants (third/fourth generation) for ancestral wickedness, but this is often understood as the natural consequences (e.g., societal decay, poverty, spiritual influence) rather than direct, personal blame for the sin itself.
Ezekiel 18 (Key Passage): Directly counters the idea of inherited guilt, stating, "The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor shall the father bear the guilt of the son".
Jesus's Teaching (The Change):
Individual Responsibility: Jesus's message emphasized personal relationship with God, where each person is responsible for their own choices.
New Covenant: Through Jesus, believers enter a new relationship with God where forgiveness is available through faith, not just 'adherence to the letter of law,' and the focus shifts to individual hearts.
Fulfillment: Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament law and prophets, fulfilling Ezekiel's promise of individual accountability over generational curse.
In Summary: Jesus didn't erase the effects of sin in families, but He changed the divine principle from inherited guilt to "individual choice and consequence," offering a path to break cycles of sin through "personal redemption."
This book was interesting and worth the read. The workbook and formula for the Freedom Prayer are "not" included in the Kindle version, which I discourage purchasing. You will need the physical copy eventually in order to follow through, so it will cost additional money.
