Dane isn’t expecting much from the mostly straight munch he’s somehow ended up at. As awkward encounters turn into a boring meet-and-greet, he’s ready to escape when the most interesting Daddy in the room sets eyes and tentacles on him.
When an earnest new Daddy and a slightly confused little come together, sparks and laughter fly because tentacle Daddies make the best Daddies.
Story Two men (one human and one alien), the best bathtub sea monster ever, a slightly overly cautious Daddy, and a little who’s starting to be concerned that Daddy will declare butter knives too dangerous for his sweet boy (aka mayo is slippery…oops).
This story was originally a novella included in the Dirty Daddies Spring Anthology and has been extended by 30k words in length.
My Little Human is the fourth book the New Neighbors series by M.A. Innes. This book is about Dane and Daddy Wright. I loved it. It was sweet, sexy and very well written.
This started out funny and interesting. Then it got repetitive and tedious to read. The speed of them becoming Daddy/boy was ridiculous. They nearly forget to even exchange names. No discussions of boundaries or anything either. They just jump right into a relationship. Also we never get a description of what Wright looks like.
I can't believe I'm leaving this review. I have eagerly awaited each of the New Neighbors books. I love the premise. But consistently I've been disappointed by the books. I couldn't put my finger on it, but now I know why.
The word "cute" is so overused that it renders this book unreadable. The writing style is also so different from other MA Innes books that I'm left wondering if this is a ghost writer. It's clearly the same writer as the other books in this series but that doesn't make it better.
Over use if "cute", swear words that are unnecessary and jerk you out of the story for how harsh they are for no reason, and a writing style that ends every other paragraph with one sentence or one word mic drops that don't work when they happen this often.
It was impossible to read, the characters are strangers and unlikable, and the pacing--even for fated mates instalove--is unbelievable.
It's hard to see a good concept get wasted on such terrible writing. I don't think this is written by the author we know as Innes, and if it is, then I'm sorry to say, it's time to end this series and go back to writing what you know, because everything in here is forced and uncomfortable.
Awww! I liked it as a short story, but I kinda love it this way! So much great stuff here -- little time, tentacle time, even going out for pizza with friends who are porn-stars time!
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It had a good amount of spice and romance scenes. The only thing for me would be that it got a little repetitive towards the end.
Ok, there was a reason I stopped reading Innes that apparently I forgot before picking this one up. The writing is just so different from what it used to be.
While I loved Wright the alien, Dane the human boy was too stupid to live.
We get most of the story through his thoughts and those thoughts are stupid. Like he would be asked a question and he would fumble through some tangent not related to what was asked and would then forget what was asked. Repeatedly.
Its a shame, as I really loved the idea of this series.
It’s not often that I come across a story that was originally a novella in an anthology that lives up to giving the more I wanted. This not only did they but surpassed my greatest expectations. So much so I’ve been saying and thinking “This is how you do it!”, since I finished. And yes the song is going through my head too lol. Seriously though, when you read expanded versions you want to know what comes next for sure but you also want deeper insight into the characters. Well y’all we got that and more. We see Wright’s thought process for why he does things much clearer now. I’m betting I’m not the only one who wants to see that manual he refers to either. Dane is so much more complex then we first thought. There are some surprises in here that will really broaden the world for you. Wright and Dane were cute in the anthology but here it’s like they really are our new neighbors. An amazing read from start to finish.
I've read a few books set in this world and I thought that "My little human" was a great addition. It was sweet and funny and steamy. In this universe an alien race has arrived to earth and they are living peacefully amongst humans. The aliens have tentacle limbs and are fascinated by human behavior and traditions. We follow Dane who is a human and Wright who is an alien. The two of them meet at a munch and their relationship progresses very fast. I'll admit that I'm not a big fan of insta love but it made sense in this book because of the alien traditions. The book is told from the human main character's pov but at the end of every chapter we get a glimpse of Wright's thoughts and I just found him very entertaining. Wright was overprotective of his human mate and his antics in order to keep him safe were hilarious. The two of them had fantastic chemistry. I had a really fun time reading their story.
Dane goes to a munch looking for a Daddy but it seems to be the straightest one he has ever been to when the most interesting Daddy in the room sets his sights (and tentacles) on him. When an earnest new Daddy and a slightly confused little come together, sparks and laughter fly because tentacle Daddies make the best Daddies.
This story was a fun read with the earnest Wright who is fascinated with Dane and caring for him although he is unsure what to make with messy mayo that gets everywhere and his assertion that all knives are dangerous. I loved Dane who was such a cute little who had such great games in the bath with his boat and the way he got his Daddy to use his tentacles to be a sea monster. This was easy to read, feel and understand. It is an MM story with mature content in a BSDM-like DDLB dynamic.
** Please note this story was originally a novella included in the Dirty Daddies Spring Anthology and has been extended by 30k words in length.
Many giggles, many many giggles here. A new instalment in The New Neighbours series by MA Innes, with enough differences with the other books to be a great story on its own. Dane and Wright are sweet together. Wright knows he is perfect for Dane, since Dane is in sorely need of someone to take care of him and Wright is the Daddy who is going to do it, he has done all the research in the world and is willing to keep studing and learning how to care of a little human. Dane is perfect for Wrigght because not every little would accept the level of safety Wright needs to offer to the fragile humans. A very entertaining addition to this series, with the appearance of old acquaintances and its own quirks to make new again this universe by Innes.
My Little Human is an excellent addition to the New Neighbors Series. I first read the short story in the Dirty Daddies Spring 2023 Anthology but I loved the expanded version. When I first read about Dane and Wright, I loved the relationship that they built. Daddy Wright was trying to be the perfect Daddy for Dane and used everything that he could to do that. I loved when Daddy Wright would say something and Dane would have to filter and figure out what Wright had meant by that. These two made me smile and giggle quite often. Definitely a winner for me.
I love how the author uses this series to point out some of the classically illogical human behaviors, as well as a few lesser known and a few I had never even realized before. The furniture store had me laughing out loud! I could see that happening so clearly given the world we have come to understand here. I initially worried the stories in this series would become too similar to continue to be interesting, but every one has been more interesting than the last. I have really been enjoying this series so much as the interactions expound.
My Little Human is the fourth book in the New Neighbors series by M.A. Innes. This book is about Dane and Daddy Wright. Originally a novella in an anthology it has now been released seperate and has been expanded. Wright and Dane were cute in the anthology but here they are still cute but more developed. I really enjoyed this read and if you have read the anthology version you will enjoy this fleshed out version too.
This was probably my favorite in the series when it was included in an anthology and was just the shortened version, and now I love it even more with the extended bits! Love that we got to see Evan and Aristotle too. A story with Dane little and playing with Evan would be adorable. I'm hoping for many more of these tentacle daddy stories in this series, because it's seriously awesome
This was a hard book to rate/review. It was amusing and kept me reading far longer than I wanted to. I'm not a Daddy/Little fan at all, but I'm down for monster smut and I do like M/M books so I thought I could tough it out. Nope. The Little bit is not at all my cup of tea, and this is firmly a book I should have stayed away from. Not the book's fault, it's all on me. I'm sure some monster smut fan will adore this.
I absolutely loved this story and I am so in love with this series. These are the types of aliens that I would love to see come to earth. Dane and Wright were so funny and cute together. This was another fantastic edition to an awesome series and I really didn’t want it to end.
I liked reading this ebook about a human male who meets an Alien in a book store while he looks for a Daddy/Dom at this gathering. It's really funny and cute. If you need to learn more about these Aliens there are 3 more books and how they interact and find their Littles.
Extended story about Wright and Dane. Daddy Wright wants to be a perfect daddy for Dane, and he has friends in the entertainment business to help him. Dane is happy Wright has chosen him as a little , but does question some of his safety measures,( butter knives). Fun read from start to finish thoroughly enjoyed.
MM, Daddy/Boy, D/s, Age Play, Tentacle, Comedy, Romance. Easy to read, page-turner with great characters and lots of wit and humour throughout. With so much steam and with out of this world romance, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book..a great mood lifter. Guaranteed HEA.
I LOVE this series! Ever other book in new neighbors has been a hit for me. The world I so unique and each character so charming and entertaining. This one just didn’t capture me. The characters felt dull and one note in this book to me. I pretty much had to skim the whole book just to get through it.
I'm not sure I'll hear any criticism of these books.
These blue daddies and their pillow princes 😆. Pretty insta-lovey but in a way that feels logical and not icky.
I’ve really enjoyed this series my MA Innes. I read the first 3 books last year and was pretty excited when this one was released. Pretty light easy reads
The humans really make the series for me, the tentacle guys are cute n all but have no chill. Their little humans are tentacle drunk messes that have to figure everything out for reals.
Wright reminds me of my German flatmate from Uni…Unironically, “My Dane was fortunate to have such a smart Daddy.” 100% something the former flatmate would say.
Those stories are my happy place. Deliciously kinky, funny, sweet, puzzling and hot in the best ways. No drama or evil people, just 2 lovers & some pretty hilarious cultural differences. Tentacle daddies for the win. 💙
I enjoyed this book much more than I expected I would. It was a sweet story about two very different people coming together and forming a deep, happy connection. I plan to read the other books in the series as this one was well written and the characters were fun.
I can’t get enough of these books and I especially love Wright and Dane! My favorite parts are Wright’s research/ realizations about humans and Dane trying to rationalize, love them so much!
I love this series! I need more. The sweet and naughty bits are great. Lovely character building and exploring different bdsm styles out there! Cant wait for next book.
I really love this series, but this one fell short for me. I guess it's about expectations. If you're looking for a zero angst, almost zero conflict, palate cleanser, it's a fairly nice warm, cozy, fluff read. It's not bad, it just didn't feel as substantial or satisfying as the others.
