I was hooked from the first chapter to the last. The banter was top tier, and if you ever want two characters who have undeniable chemistry but are enemies, then this is it.

I'll keep this spoiler free, but a prophecy requires Mina to get married, but all of her betrothals end up being fatal. That is until she meets Callan, and they agree upon a fake relationship. This is where the excitement starts! One of my favorite moments is when they have tea, I loved it! These two are so perfect together, even if they can't stand each other.

Everything about this book was fun to read, and some scenes even made me laugh out loud. Mina is definitely not helpless and will even be the one to save you! If you're looking for a fierce FMC, Mina is the best. The slow burn is perfect and adds to the tension.

Callan is just your above average rogue Fae warrior for hire, who happens to have exceedingly amazing skills. He is on one of these jobs when he runs into a young thief and decides chivalry is the flavour of the day! Only to end up beaten up, jailed, jumping a cliff, carried off by a dragon, oh and betrothed to said girl, who is actually a princess in disguise, and to put the cherry on top, he is under threat of being murdered! All in a day’s work, don’t you think?!!

Ofcourse Mina, said Princess, is not happy at all with Callam’s chivalry. In fact, he is just getting in her way, but ooof, she can’t leave him to die. But is she saving him, just to have killed?

Breaker does an amazing job building the fantasy world and mixing in with it suspense and slow burn! And her character building is fantastic – the attitude just jumps at you!! I love this book and can’t wait to read more of Breaker’s work…to start with the first book in the Dragons of Arcadia series!!

🐉 slow burn
🐉 forced proximity
🐉 fake engagement
🐉 forbidden romance
🐉 only one bed
🐉 cinnamon roll hero
🐉 wannabe enemies to lovers

This is the second book in The Dragons of Arcadia. This one has dragons and Fae so it is a win for me. And it has the perfect amount of spicy that I needed for a slow burn.

S.R. Breaker does an amazing job with is one. I loved the first book it was one of my favorite reads and this one just as great. It hooks your from the very beginning of the book and I enjoyed the entire ride throughout the book

One thing I love about Breaker is that she takes her time with her characters and develops them. The relationship building is always top notch. You will fall for these characters from first meeting them. I loved how Callan decided what he wanted and went for it.

Mina and Callan together was exciting. Loved the chemistry between them. Breaker always does an amazing job with the relationships on her books. Watching it develop during the book is amazing.

The ending is a surprise and I am hoping we have another one because I have questions. Please Breaker tell me there is another one.

I enjoyed this fake marriage story with a fantasy twist to it. Mina and Callan were a riot as they enter a fake marriage in hopes of finding answers and find trouble as expected. Twist and surprises and entertaining scenes to keep me entertained. Had to see what would happen next and wanted to see who was behind things.

Reign of the Dragon Heir is book 2 in The Dragons of Arcadea by S R Breaker. This book was fabulous with characters that are well written and I can't wait to read more about them in book 3. Callan, a Fae mage/warrior, and Mina, Princess of the Second House of Dragoncrest make an unlikely pair to be betrothed. Throughout this epic story, they fight each other as well as together against all odds. This series is not to be missed. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.

Oh my was this GOOD!!! LEven though this book featured different MC's, the characters are familiar from the previous book, Dragon Heir. This book follows Callan and Mina, both misguided into going against their natural instincts and supporting shady leaders for "the good of the people" Pfft! We all know there are few leaders that have anything other than their own importance and power in mind. Doing the wrong thing for the right reasons is NEVER a good option! After the disastrous events and a serious dose of guilt and regret, Callan wanders the realm, which is now a tinderbox ready to Ignite. With the wards down, everywhere accessible to everyone, old superstitions and prejudice rears its head among humans and Fae, and new powerful gangs are popping up.

Contrary to his actions in the events leading up to the decimation of the spheres, Callan IS a good guy, he wants to help wherever he can, which is why he jumps in, without much thought, to "save" a damsel in distress. Granted, the damsel is a thief, but still... I really was giggling at this "chronicles of unfortunate incidents" Callan had inadvertently set into motion with his...ummm...heroics. What a fine duo they make, he a traitor, she a jinxed Princess, at odds from the moment they laid eyes on each other and boy did the sparks fly! The bickering? Absolutely priceless! Reunited with Soleia once more, he, grudgingly, undertakes a false betrothal to expose an assassin. But he exposes so much more. Oh how I loved the conflicting thoughts and emotions running through him, trying to decipher fact from fiction. A talent this author possesses, to create a labyrinth so serpentine, the joy was in finding the way out. But she also surprises me along the journey, the maze she reveals, inch by inch, is never what I anticipate, allowing me a glimpse of what might possibly be around the bend and I'm inevitably wrong!

What I'm not wrong about is the likeability of the characters this author breathe's life into, sustainably and only growing on me with every page I read, I'm as much frustrated for them as I am with them. What Ms Breaker does sublimely is perceptions. She injects a realism to this, after all, what you see is NOT always what you get, and assumptions ARE the mother of all f**kups! Her entirely pragmatic approach is spot on, as is the way she gently shows her characters how much they err... seeing that untangle from a tightly wound bundle of wool is simply stupendous. These are among the few areas she excels at. Oh who am I kidding, Ms Breaker excels FULL STOP! With characters like Callan, the perfect hunk seeking redemption; Mina, the perfect. .ummm... snarky, mischievous, impetuous and a heck of a mouth on her, as well as firm favourites Soleia and Dathon, impressive is all I can say! Unfolding events in an awesome plot, yeah, excel is the only fitting word.

But the shocker of events in the last few chapters had my head pounding, my heart racing and I swear to the high heavens, I was shocked at HOW Ms Breaker duped me, over and over again, like seriously, my mouth gaping as the adrenaline raged through my veins, a true master of magically cloaking incidences, motives and the final reveal couldn't be more earthshattering! Brilliant! As is the very tumultuous romance between Mina and Callan, they are the epitome of cool denial, slowly backing up towards a wall with nowhere to go except to acknowledge "my home is you" Every inch of me was vibrating with pleasure at this utterance. The ending, fittingly explanatory for the series The Curse of the Arcadian Stone, which I've read, which you need post haste!

What I really enjoy when reading a SR Breaker book is the almost immediate action. There's no gentle easing into a story, it's adrenaline spiked from the onset. Aside from the weapons kind of action, there's action of the heart too. Her prose is so effortless yet her banter is one of the best I've read. Comical, quick witted, fully engaging. Her characters too are quick witted, flawed and thoroughly captivating, extremely relatable. The perfect balance between sass, humour, action, romance, drama and intrigue set this fast paced and frankly delightfully unique book apart from the norm. And THAT'S why I can with confidence recommend any of this author's books!

Summary:
Callan lives day to day selling his fae abilities to the highest or does he? He sees a young lady in danger and against his initial thoughts he dives in to save her. Well you would think she would be grateful, but little does he know a Mina. At first appearances Mina looks helpless, but like Callan looks can be deceiving.

The twists and surprises in this story take it to a whole new level as Callan and Mina as their story unfolds. The growing relationship between them is at odds with their differences, but that would never stop either one. As is said in the book:
“What Mina wants Mina gets.” That says it all while leaving out so much more about her. Callan tries to keep his bad guy front up, but all Mina needs to do is look beyond. This is a wonderful edition the series and I for one can’t wait to see what the author has in store for the next book in the series.

This book is technically the second book in The Dragons of Arcadia series, but I feel like it could also be read as a standalone since it follows different main characters from the first book. The backstory does make more sense if you read the first book “Curse of the Dragon Heir”.

S.R. Breaker does an amazing job of world building and character development. I already loved Mina from the brief meeting in the first book in this series, but I fell in love with Callan in this book (kind of hated him in the first), such a cutie!

I enjoyed this book filled with snarky banter, a fake engagement, forbidden romance, forced proximity and a little bit of a murder mystery thrown in.

If you liked the first book with Dathon and Soleia, you’ll be glad to know they are in this book some as well, and you’ll likely enjoy it as much as I did!

If you like dragon shifters, and lovable characters, give this a read!

This book does end on a pretty major cliffhanger and I really hope that S.R. Breaker will write another story so we can get a satisfactory ending! :)

Thanks to S. R. Breaker for sending me an eARC. All opinions expressed are my own!

Save the realms
No pressure, when it’s usually only one realm that needs saving!
Many people think that the world of royalty is such a wonderful way to live. Yes, there are many luxuries and perks, but at what cost? Arranged marriages, fear of assassination, sequestered quarters, etc.
‘I don’t think I have the luxury of trusting anyone. I don’t think anyone in my position does.’

What a message of hope and such a positive message to teach a young child:
[Rain] ‘washes away what has come before...and prepares the world for what is to come.’
This child is growing up knowing that something that may be inconvenient to, let’s say, travelers is beneficial to the great good. Her attitude is about than just giving animals water to drink…

Fave line:
‘The princess gets what the princess wants.’
But does she, really? Or is accommodating her every day wishes a way to ease her life at the top of the pyramid? Is freedom to decorate one’s room truly freedom?

Check out ‘Stolen Oath (The Curse of the Arcadian Stone: Nameless Fay)’, a subsumed interlude.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the book.

The details of the world are very interesting and it looks like the author added even more different layers.

I like how the characters are described and developed.

In my opinion the story started very strong but later on it moved a little unevenly. I feel like some of the scenes could have been a little bit shorter and tighter.

Probably the strongest part of the book for me are the relationships.

I loved the connection between the two main characters. It started slow and continued to build and build.

I understand why Mina is acting the way she did but on some level I felt like is was a little bit too much at some point.

I wanted to see even more of Callan and his powers because they are amazing.

The ending really surprised me and now I want to know what will happen next.

Overall I really like the story.

Read If You Enjoy:
Fade to Black Slow Burn Romance
Fast Paced Fantasy
Forced Proximity

This was a really fun fast-paced fantasy romance read. Reign of the Dragon Heir picks up four years after the events in book one. This story follows Mina and Callan, two characters we meet in book one, who are trying to figure out what is causing the destabilization of the realms. This story is full of the high stakes and action-packed adventure that I expect and love when I pick up a book by S.R. Breaker.

I really enjoyed the twists and turns in this story from the mysterious prophecy to the high-stakes missions. I loved Mina's strong and assertive character and how well it complemented Callan’s grumpy and protective character.

Thank you, S.R. Breaker, for providing me with a review copy of Reign of the Dragon Heir in exchange for an honest review.

Much like the first book in this series, this is a fast-paced fantasy. I really enjoyed the pacing but did feel like I was lacking a little bit of the visuals in this book. Perhaps reading the first and second book back to back would have supported the visual though. I greatly enjoyed the chemistry between the FMC and MMC. Their verbal sparring was lovely and then seeing their relationship develop over time time was adorable. I felt as though the first book was a bit more action-packed, while this one focused more on the development of the characters and I personally missed some of that action. I am looking forward to book 3!

Closed door spice
Forced proximity
Dragons
Faes
Fake engagement

I was given an ARC of this book by the author in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book was phenomenal, I could not put it down! Not only did I enjoy the continuation on Dathon and Soleia’s story but to have the story based on Callan and Mina was so awesome! Not what I expected and it was just amazing. Callan who we met in “Curse of the Dragon Heir” goes above and beyond to prove himself and Mina the stubborn princess turns out to be more then meets the eye. If you enjoyed the first book you’ll fall in love with this one because it is non-stop thrill as it pulls at your emotions! Loved this book!

Oh sweet dragons! I felt there might be a twist like this. But I swear, you will not see it all coming!

This story follows 2 side characters from book 1. Dathon and Soleia are in this tale, just not the main focus. We learn more about the world, and we get to see some changes? in it. Along with getting to know the 2 main characters: Mina, and Callan.
I hope we get to learn more about the land itself. I need to know what happens next!!!

I'm off to read the next one!
The Curse of the Arcadian Stone

I can’t get enough of this series!! Reign of the Dragon Heir is the second book of this fast pace adventure with Dragons!! This is Mina and Callan’s story with hidden identity and fake marriages. Their story will bring you into the world more and the unexpected twist will leave you wanting to know more. I love how they are with each other, the protectiveness and the banter!! It adds on to the chemistry they have. I really enjoyed their story and reading more about the characters of Arcadia. I can’t wait for the next one!

I liked the story, and Callan grew on me after a bit, given how the first book ended. He had some great lines, like when he explains why he won't kiss her. *swoon*

I had trouble getting a hold on Mina's character. At the beginning, she seemed like such a badass, but after the first couple of chapters, she became more diva-like.

However, I cringed at some of the dialogue and teasing banter. It was immature sounding at some times, and *very* mature at others. It pulled me out of the story each time.

A thrilling tale of dragons, fae,and humans and their fight to co-exist. Although in this tale it was dragons set against dragons. The story centers around Callen, a fae mage and Mina, a dragon princess. Their characters are put through so many twists and turns it keeps you hooked from beginning to end. The world building was so well developed I felt like I was right there. I definitely definitely recommend this book.

Another great installment of the Arcadia realm! “Watching” Callan and Mina figure out how to work together together to protect the realm was great fun. Lots of action, lots of “snark,” I really enjoyed it. As an ARC reader I was spoiled by getting to enjoy this before it is publicly available. Highly recommended!

Another great ready. I loved Mina's sassy attitude and Callan's ability to give it right back. The momentum of the story picks up in the second half making it near impossible to take my attention away until I was finished. It continued building on the world that you see a glimpse of in book 1.

This was such an action-packed intriguing adventure, full of romantic tension and wonderful characters! I absolutely loved this story, even though I had a hard time forgiving a certain character for the betrayal from the last book at first. He did end up a great character, though, and I'm so glad he got his happy ending!

Fun read! Someone is killing all of those that Mina has been arranged to marry, so she sets up a fake engagement to hopefully unravel the mystery of who has murderous ways. Throw in some curses and prophecies, some adventure, some danger, and I’m loving it! And oh yes, got that bit of romance going on! Entertaining!

fun read!

I really enjoyed this book! It is a fun Romantasy that is easy to follow and doesn’t contain a ton of world building. It is a slow burn with witty banter. There is a fake betrothal, a dragon princess FMC, and a Fae MMC. It was a fun read and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

This is one of the best books that I have had the pleasure to read in 2023. The characters are great in their own way and the plot is excellent.

The author has used her gift to write a great story about a princess plagued with a curse where all of her suiters die a violent death before they even get to the wedding. She succeeds in virtually taking the reader on an adventure filled with action, love, hate, treachery battles and care of the populations of the three Realms. The story is brilliantly written and the plot is just wright with its twists and turns that keeps the reader glued to the book and wanting to see what happens next.

Mina, the princess, meets Callan, an Elf warrior mage who interferes in her plans to steal an object at a Market Place. Following the altercation, they both wind up in jail. This is their story and the story of the people that they touch.

5 Stars ++++++++ I Highly recommend this book.
