Russel Kaine, a sixty-year-old rancher living in the boondocks of Pasco County, Florida, had always preferred a solitary life after losing his beloved partner ten years ago. His only companions were his loyal dog, Rusty, and a feisty rooster named Chesty. But when an EMP event in late October disrupts modern society, Russel realizes that he can no longer ignore the needs of others as he watches them struggle to survive.
With his newfound sense of responsibility, Russel sets out to protect the weaker members of his community, forming a tribe that bands together to navigate their new world. As they face the challenges of isolation and limited resources, they find themselves aided in their struggle for survival in a most unexpected way.
In "PASCO The House At The End Of The Road," author Mark Loren takes readers on an immersive journey through a now-familiar post-apocalyptic world, exploring themes of community, resilience, and the human spirit. Join Russel and his tribe as they forge a new path forward against all odds in Book 9 of the October Fall series.
This book was another post - EMP story where the good exterminate the bad thugs, plus romance.
I am a Trump conservative guy, I watch FOX News, and target shoot with my guy friends from our golf league. I think liberals are clueless, and I am a retired DMD with three 4 year degrees, one of them in business, so I am no ignorant Bubba style guy. I am originally a Midwesterner, and I have no appreciation for the so called ELITE liberals from either coast. I live 100 miles South of the North Tampa suburbs and the setting for these stories is in an area that I am very familiar with. I enjoy the shooting scenes where our heroes never miss their perpetrators. I like a secondary love story which this had an abundance of romance. The lead hero is tough, but no Jack Reacher. He is thoughtful and caring, but has no tolerance for the cruel and selfish hordes wandering the post apocalypse US. Good Job!
I'm used to some dystopian books that give survivors all the tools needed without any sacrifice. I was willing to accept that this was one of those. Where this book totally failed was by also providing guardian angel ghosts who could affect the real world, save dying people, and talk to them. I hope this is the last October Fall book with ghosts. Or at least warn a person so we can avoid it. Chesty was my favorite character.
I have read multiple books by Boyd Craven. I have generally enjoyed them. They have a combination of excitement and suspense. I was disappointed that politics was brought into this story in the way they were. We have a previous administration that attempted to negate an election, multiple electoral officials (Republicans, which makes me embarrassed to be one at the moment) being investigated for attempting rig elections.
I enjoyed the storyline but was thrown a twist when the story changed to the ethereal my interest was really thrown a little have to think a little more about the storyline will try to remember what and where this series ended will see when Mr Craven decides to write the next book.
You can't possibly read this book without wanting many more of them. I have read all of the "Fall" series, but this one definitely touched my soul. No spoilers, but keep an open mind, and you will love it also. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.
Algorithm starts off kittens it really turns into a nice read it's interesting to see how a family becomes a family g And help friends become members Of a confederation. Similar to Couple of the earlier books We have Russel's wife show up tying some of the earlier books together.
The story was interesting, but got a little far out with the spirits. Several minor factual errors were jarring: Alas Babylon was NOT about EMP, A VW 23 window was air cooled. He could not have checked it., I'm still not sure if the magazine fed Garland was an error the author corrected or intentional. Look up Italian BM59.
Just finished Pasco Fall. What a great read. Loved every minute of it. I found a few of the books after the first two or three seem to lose the thread of the story line. Pasco Fall brought everything back together. I can’t wait for what ever comes next.
I really enjoyed reading more in the October Fall series. Mark Loren did an excellent job with the Pasco area and his characters were well done. I think if I ever met Shayla and Russel, I would like to be part of their confederation.
Great storey apart from the constant descriptions of guns or meals they ate, especially could have done without all the prayers and the ethereal visits, I mean really
However some criticism, describing each meal got a little tiresome. As an Australian I find it difficult to understand the American political system however I do enjoy learning new things.
The spirits of spouses lent a weird twist to this story. It continues to amaze me that the main characters in so many of the EMP apocalypse stories are financially able to stockpile large amounts of weapons, gas, solar energy supplies and food. I am jealous.
The dialogue and any action compared to the other "Fall" novels was oddly out of balance. Maybe I've misunderstood the premise? One man versus the world stories have been a bit more energetic.
The story was excellent -- EXCEPT when the authors started preaching their own personal politics. That very much detracted from what was otherwise a great story.
Another excellent book in a fantastic series. So many stories under the same timeline. This type of book and series is a guide for anyone who likes to be prepared.
Didn't really enjoy this book. The rest of series has been good but this was just boring and pretty unrealistic. After I got to ghosts I just quit reading
Never expected this! Loved how much of the book was daily life. Gotta read this one.....can't say much more! Anything with the. Word FALL in it is worth the read!
An entertaining story. Nice change from some of the fall books and in saying that I love all of the fall books always wanting more. Keep up the great stories.
I’ve rated almost every book I’ve read in the October fall series 5* but I have to be Honest with you the first half drags. Kinda badly. BUT the second half was right back to the excitement we know and love.
