Taming Her Heart

Earning her place among them was the easy part.

Leslie Beckett had been the glue holding her family together since her mother disappeared not long after her birth. As a witch, a dragon shifter, and the only daughter in a household of male dragon shifters, she’d had to train harder. Be the best. She’d always crave the hunt. Yet the innate tug of magic made her feel most alive.

Tyler Jackson followed his sister to Rayner, leaving his career as a police officer on Earth behind. Ditching his ties to his undercover ops position proved more difficult though. So he put those skills to work when granted a spot on the alpha’s elite team. He was nothing if not ruthlessly efficient in his role.

When a ghost from the past shocks the clan, nothing is as it seems. As the guardian of the long awaited prophesy, Leslie plots a way forward. Tyler is a welcome distraction, igniting feelings Leslie is unprepared for. And he can’t get the wickedly talented, pretty princess out of his head.

Meanwhile, the rogue fae quietly claim the minds of loved ones in their own quest for the elusive prophesy. Can Leslie and Tyler’s growing bond prove stronger than the forces of fate uniting against them?

*Readers can expect healthy doses of hot shifters, naughty language, and intimate time with a fated mate, all wrapped up in a happily ever after. Can be read as a standalone romance but best enjoyed in the order written.

Tyler was tired of what his life had turned into on Earth. After the death of his parents and feeling that there were dirty cops involved he went rogue and instead of 'protect and serve' he turned mercenary determined to find and kill all those involved.

No matter the incentive the Interplanetary Affairs representative before him was offering so he would remain on Earth he was determined to be with his only living relative. He willingly signed up to live on the planet Rayner to be with his sister who had agreed to work in a community for five years and agree to have a shifter baby.

Leslie is searching the crowded hospital hallway for her brother. How had he disappeared so quickly? She saw a door marked 'Quiet Room' and decided to sit and rest her feet until her brother handled whatever hospital emergency had drawn him away so urgently.

As she took in the calming water feature she realized she wasn't alone. How she missed the gorgeous man kneeling she didn't know, but he was in obvious distress and she tried to leave before he knew she was there. But she was too late and he called out to her saying that his sister had just died and he had prayed for a sign and here she was... looking like a princess from a fairytale.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Although this book has its own HEA, the series is intended to be read in order. The Rugged Peaks series revolves around six dragon-shifter siblings on the planet Rayner who each are finding their place in a prophecy that will save all on their planet - whether dragon, witch, human or fae. The underlying threat and storyline continue through the whole series and the characters are recurring... each sibling contributing their special skillset to defeat the enemy.

Leslie is the only girl out of the six dragon-shifters and has the additional powers as a witch and is the future Keeper of Prophecy. Tyler came to Rayner to support his sister only for her to die in childbirth to a wolve shifter.

This book is action-packed and steamy hot. Josh gives a whole new meaning to 'raising a child' and bathtime was darn right hilarious. This may be a shifter paranormal romance but Bree Westland brings these characters to life so well that they feel like family. Highly recommend and can't wait to see what happens next!

Taming Her Heart is by far my favorite book in Bree Westland's Rugged Peaks Series. The books of this series can be read as standalones but you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not starting with book one - highly recommend you read them all to get the background of the fae dangers on these characters and learn more about the characters that continue on in this book.

This book follows Leslie Beckett a witch / dragon shifter and Tyler Jackson an ex cop and mercenary from earth. I LOVED Tyler's and Leslie's story so much. They both found each other in a time of internal turmoil and together they overcome so much. Tyler had a haunting and traumatic past that left him feeling empty. He lost everyone dear to him and blamed himself but Leslie sparked something in him by just existing. When they first met years ago his life was truly in shambles, she was the reason he kept going even though she didn't know how big of an impact simply meeting her had on him. Years went by but then they finally came together in the most beautiful way - I couldn't get enough.

Leslie was all work and no play, as the only daughter and dragon shifter of the Beckett family she had to work twice as hard than her brothers... until Tyler changed everything for her.

"Leslie rarely dated. Her time was better spent pursuing her craft and indulging her dragon with
leisurely adventures...Where she and her dragon owned the sky. But Tyler had awakened other
need. Ones she seldom gave much thought to... The man was an enigma. So many layers and she
wanted to peel back each one"

Leslie felt safe with Tyler and they gave each other a safe haven in the midst of their own internal struggles and the threats / dangers of the fae attacks. The chemistry between Tyler and Leslie [and even her dragon] was amazing. Im a sucker for nickname and every time he called her princess I literally melted. I fell in love with both Leslie and Tyler and the way their characters developed independently but also how they developed as a couple.

This book had it all. Amazing characters, character development, love, family, trauma, dangers AND the spice?!? was absolutely chefs kiss. Bree really outdid herself, cannot recommend this enough. I cant wait to see what's in store in the next book in the series.

Thank you to Bree Westland for sending me a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.

I am going to preface this by saying that this is the first book in the series that I've read. I do feel like I would have enjoyed it more having read the other two first.

I tried reading the synopsis from the previous two books... my problem was that they were LONG and I was really interested in the stories but it wasn't enough detail for me, obviously, since it wasn't that full books lmao. So I ended up just skimming them.

Honestly, just skimming the two synopsis from the other books is fine! You get enough about the world and the other characters in this story. What I was honestly missing in this one was the really in-depth plot. You get so many hints and little bits about the fae in this, but I feel like the big parts of it happened in the previous books (and hopefully in future ones!) but there's not all that much here.

THAT BEING SAID, I love Leslie and Tyler. I loved watching their romance, and just for that this book is amazing. There are some nice spicy scenes to go along with it, and love.

Side tangent: I just want to read a million more things about shifters, especially baby ones. I have a three year old myself at the time of reading this, so comparing development to Josh in the story was absolutely fascinating.

Bree Westland has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Leslie and Tyler. Leslie is a dragon shifter. Tyler has moved to Rayner to be closer to his sister but she died during childbirth. Leslie meets Tyler when she is waiting for her brother at the hospital. He is in a dark place and she gives him a little light and sunshine. They talk for a few minutes and then he walks away from her. Tyler becomes friends with her brothers Blake, Blair, and Avery since he does some work for them. He has feelings for her but doesn't think he is good enough for her. They end up working together and things between them heat up. They start seeing each other and when Blake finds out he has a few words with Tyler. Leslie tells her brothers that who she sees is not their business. There is an evil coming for Leslie and her brothers. Leslie finds her missing mother and is told that Leslie is part of a prophecy. Unknown to Tyler, he is part of it also.
Can Leslie and Tyler take out what is coming for Leslie and her brothers?
Will Leslie and Tyyler become a couple?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

Sister Leslie is the main character in Taming Her Heart, book three of the Rugged Peaks series, and I'm pleased to see the female sibling take center stage in book three of this trilogy. Leslie, like her brothers, has a strong personality and, unlike her brothers, has a trait that her brothers don't possess: she's a witch. Her skills grow and are put to good use as the plot unfolds. (I won't reveal too much...don't want to spoil the surprises!) Westland gives us some back story about Leslie's heritage, and her experiences with a relative on her mother's side of the family will keep us turning pages. Of course, as the title implies, there is a love interest, human Tyler, and a very steamy relationship that unfolds. Will the family accept Tyler? There is tension as the brothers assess Tyler's fitness as a mate for Leslie and his ability to join their clan, and Tyler rises to the challenge and grows in many ways throughout the story. Of course, the required HEA is hinted. The story is well written with rich dialogue and lush description. Will there be a sequel to this delightful story? I hope so!

Much like Bree’s other books in this series it is intriguing! The build up from the other two books, which can be read as a stand-alone but for enjoyment and back story are better read prior to jumping into Leslie’s story.

Leslie and Tyler have incredible chemistry from their first encounter. When Tyler is at a low point Leslie is there to offer some comfort and a bring a little light to his dark.

As everything is centered around the prophecy, it is perfect timing when Tyler showed up. Without revealing spoilers, this book offers many answers to some of the open questions there are hanging around.

This book will draw you if you enjoy dragons, shifters, and the paranormal. The romance is extremely well written, and the whole book is extremely detail oriented transporting you to a new, magical place.

Highly recommend, and am so thankful to have received an ARC. Prior to that I hadn’t read anything by Bree Westland, but before this book I quickly devoured the first two and set off to continue in the series! Looking forward to what comes next.

Every novel in this series keeps getting better and better!

Im a huge Bree fan and ive been devouring this series book by book and every time a new one comes out im positive I don't think she can top the last one but low and behold she does! Packed with a sexy ex policeman and steamy scenes, you need to have this read on your TBR! I instantly liked Leslie, she's different to what we've seen in previous FMCs in this series, her and Tyler were literally written for each other and you could feel the heavy chemistry between these two from the start.

While this is an amazing romance that is heavy on the amazingly written steamy scenes and spice I enjoy how Bree still has a strong plot that keeps you wanting more, from prophecies to evil Fae there's never a dull moment in this book. This is probably my favourite book in the series so far but im sure I'll be changing that once a new one is released. If you enjoy fantasy or paranormal romance you need this entire series on your TBR because im not joking when I say they are all binge worthy!

Taming Her Heart by Bree Westland.
Rugged Peaks Book 3.
Leslie Beckett had been the glue holding her family together since her mother disappeared not long after her birth. As a witch, a dragon shifter, and the only daughter in a household of male dragon shifters, she’d had to train harder. Be the best. She’d always crave the hunt. This was a really good read. I loved the cover. I did like Leslie and Tyler and how they were together. I loved that he called her princess. Even though I haven't read the first two books in this series, I got into it straight away. I did like how protective Leslie brothers Blake and Avery and Clive were. I loved little Josh. I liked Taryn and Charlie. I did like Suri and Blair and Seth and Jackson, but Perry grew on me. I did love the magical fight. It was like I was there watching everything happen. Jaedon grew on me. I didn't like Sela. I didn't trust her. I can't wait for the next book. 5*.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

I probably should have read the first two books because there were probably things I needed to know and maybe could have understood some things better. But I won't let that reflect in my review. I am going to say that I got the feeling that the other books focused on the male siblings and this one the female. Leslie is a strong female character and is also a witch. We do get some backstory of her heritage and how she came to be a witch and hone her skills. Enter human Tyler and the story takes some tension filled moments as the brothers come into play. If your caught up I'm sure this is a great book. But I will say that this is a well written book. If only I had known everything I needed to know.

Transfer to Raynor

Leslie is a dragon shifter/witch who stumbles upon a grieving human Tyler. A few years later they have become friends through her brothers and slowly give in to their desire for each other. However, there is danger looming in the background and a prophecy that could tear apart not only their connection but her entire family. The twists and turns were an added bonus to this plot which was exciting and full of fantastic moments.

Leslie is a witch/dragon shifter and Tyler is a human former police officer. They meet and develop feelings but there is a dark sinister force that threatens to damage that relationship and her family as well. Will they be able to battle this force and keep theor love strong? This is the third book in the series and the first I read from it. You can follow along pretty well, however best to read the other two books first.

Let me just say: Holy crap! I fell in love with this book the moment Tyler mentioned being my "newest book boyfriend" [literally the first page].

I was curious to know how Leslie's story would go, but Bree did not disappoint. She had to go through a lot being a witch, a dragon shifter, as well as being the ONLY female in her family. But she never gave up. She kept training & pushing through.

You will not regret reading this series! I was hooked from the first book (Blake & Taryn) and will continue to read where this series goes!

**I realized I never posted my review when I initially read it last year so I'm posting it now.**

This is my first book by this author and this book was good. Tyler and Leslie were perfect together. I loved the love that was between them and the dynamic they had. I also loved how we got glimpses into baby Josh’s childhood and the humor behind him shifting randomly as well as being a baby still. I loved that Leslie healed Tyler’s pain from losing his family and how Leslie’s brothers welcomed him in as family.

I received a. ARC and I’m voluntarily leaving my review.

I'm really enjoying reading this series. Book 3 continues the struggles of the Beckett family, dragon shifters and Alphas family on the planet of Raynor.

Leslie, the dragon shifter witch and youngest sister of the family, and Tyler, someone who has lost everything but is fighting to find his place and survive.

Compulsive reading and I'm looking forward to the next installement to make sure that they all continue to survive the dark fae and sinister presences fighting against them.

This is a paranormal romance set on another world that involves Shifters, Witches and there is an under-lying feud happening with the fae that keeps you wondering.
I will admit that I initially struggled with reading this book and I think it is because I had not read the first two in this series.
While this story revolves around Leslie and the previous books revolved around her brothers I felt like I was missing parts of the storyline.

THH was a book that I read! I actually read the two leading us to this one to prepare not knowing that there was a lengthy synopsis at the back. I was glad to see Leslie get her book earlier on.

I have slowly been making my way into dragon shifter books and would have loved more context into the relationship with Rayner and Earth. It took me quite a few tries to get into this series. You get plenty of cameos from characters in books 1 & 2.

This was the first book I’ve read in this series, and it captured my attention from the beginning. Having the setting be a different planet, gave it a fresh twist on shifter romance. While the romance was steamy, the underlying political feud between fae and shifters kept me intrigued. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

Tyler and Leslie's story pulled me in from the first sentence. You can't help but feel connected to them on their journey with one another. An amazing story that is well written, easy to follow, and captivating at every turn. Of course it helps that Tyler is easily meant to be a book boyfriend to all.

A fantasy romance that is definitely worth a read. Leslie and Tyler have big family commitments and commitments in general. They both understand the life’s they each live and the obstacles that come with it. With that being said these two are magical because of everything…. They truly understand each other and it makes them better because of it. This is a well layered story with a lot of information and great characters. Characters with amazing depth and a heck of a story to tell. I love A good shifter, paranormal story and this book definitely fit the bill. I really enjoyed this story and I look forward to reading more books by this author.

As a beginner Fantasy reader, I must say this was a very good book. I definitely see the interest in fantasy now. I did not read the first 2 books in the series, but with the ARC of this one the author included a synopsis of book 1 & 2 at the back and I felt like I was updated on 2 other stories before ever diving into this one. If you enjoy fated mates, HEA, and spicy scenes check out this book (:

To start, I received this as an ARC to read and review. This being the 3rd story in the Rugged Peaks series, I have NOT read the first two. The ARC copy received did come with two short synopsis’s for the previous two books. Which did give a little backstory to some of the characters we meet in this story. I would also like to note that during the duration of my read I have been struggling a little with my mental health, which I do believe affected my ability to immerse myself in the story.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

I haven’t read much in regards too Fantasy/Romantasy. I have read A Court Of Thorns And Roses, which I did enjoy but found myself having a hard time immersing myself enough in the story to get a better feel for the world building. I feel like it may have been the same thing here. The story for me was a slow burn and took a while for me to really get into (see previous statement above). The spice started closer around 40% of the book, the last 10% of the book is where it really hooked me in. Had I not been taking myself to bed as early as I have the last couple nights, this book would have been finished a couple days ago.

Considering I have not read any of the other books in this series, I did enjoy the story overall. I loved the shifters and especially Tylers nephew, Josh. He sounded like the cutest little ball of fluff. I enjoyed reading Tyler and Leslie’s love story. The pull they had towards one another (fated mates), the primal urge to protect what was his (Leslie) really pulled at my wounded heart. Definitely does not help my hopeless romantic self. 😅
