if you are looking for spice with the tiniest hint of plot, this is your book! the spice is written very well … like very well.
i just personally felt it should be longer and wanted a bit more in regards to plot because it actually was intriguing. definitely enjoyed it though!

This was a fun quick read! Lots of spice and very well written I might say. I do wish there was more of a plot but that’s just me because I like books with both. I wish it was longer , I was sad that the story ended and I had to say goodbye to Sadie and Connor. If you enjoy tons of spice without too much of plot getting in the way, then this book is most definitely for you. So grab a bottle of wine 🍷, sit in your comfy chair and enjoy the ride.

Let me start by saying you will need a fan on standby while reading this story. Maybe grab some water so you’re properly hydrated and whatever else you might need for this steamy read!

I love Annika’s stories so maybe I’m a little biased but this one was really dang good! 🥵

I’ll put it into perspective for you….
You’ve reached a point in life you thought you’d never see. You were happy. You got married. You had kids. You bought that family home. You put everything into joint accounts. Then the worst happens…. You get divorced.

Now say… you have a best friend who’s one of those go out and get ‘Em types who doesn’t want you sitting around sad and lonely so she convinces you to take a chance on a blind date. Now y’all…. This friend is hella sneaky and concocts a crazy plan because she loves you so dang much, right?

So here you are… showing up at the restaurant wondering why the hell you agreed to this date, right? You almost turn around and walk away… a couple times. But you decide, no, I’m going to do this. I’m tired of being sad and lonely. But guess who shows up as your date?

You guessed it… 😉 If you didn’t you’ll find out.

Now imagine you thinking to yourself. Nope, nope, nuh uh not happening… which turns into a mild panic attack which leads to the most unexpected and sexiest night of your life. You were determined to follow the path you’d chosen but those plans go flying out the window in the blink of an eye and the twitch of a naughty man stick. Because of course… I mentioned the steam right?

Holy moly canolies! This is why I said bring a fan. I want to say this book is about 15% plot and 85% glorious smut. Annika gives us enough to feel connected to the characters but also disconnected enough to give us a bit of an escape into their world to watch them role play a while 😉😉

Have I convinced you why you must have this book yet? If not… I can continue.

I want to make it clear that my low rating didn't have anything to do with the author's writing itself. It was very well written and emotionally gripping in every sense.

I just felt like it lacked a major plot. I know I know, it's literally in the description and name of what the book it that it'd be spicy, but I typically do not read books like this so this was a first!

I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for a well written, sexy, and spicy read. Maybe even someone who's in a reading slump and needs a short, but very spicy book to get them back in the game!

I really enjoyed this book. The smutty bits were well written and I thoroughly enjoyed them. I wish that it had been longer. My biggest issue with this book is that the plot line is not really flushed out. When the writer tells you it brings all the sexy times and basically no plot she means it. I would have liked to have seen more plot but that's just me. I feel like this book had the potential to really hit home emotionally as well as being steamy. If you're looking for a fun, quick read that is very spicy, don't want the mess of a plot, then this book is for you. It was really well edited which I appreciated. Overall fairly happy with this one, just wish there had been more meat.

ARC read review: I actually enjoyed this novella, it is a easy read if you are looking for a low maintenance plot line but delivers on the spice! As I feel with most novellas I wish it could’ve been longer but that wasn’t the goal with this book, it was to deliver high impact spice and low plot which Annika achieved.

Sadie is a mom, and a soon to be divorcee setting out on a first date during her separation. Connor is in love with his wife and will do anything to get her back. The author takes a very unique and sweet spin on the learning to love your partner trope and I was all in. I love that these guys used role play to get outside of their internal drama and learn why they loved one another in the first place.
The scenes were very well written and spicy. The angst tinged dialogue was not fluff, but legitimate and made you root for this couple's happiness. I truly enjoyed it.

The author tells a halfway there lie…there is a plot here. There is definitely spice and heat to boil the Atlantic, but there is also a plot. Especially for anyone who’s been married or in a committed relationship that sees the addition of children, daily stress, and the fears of complacency or being seen as a burden. Honestly, Sadie has those same fears many women do. And it’s up to Connor to decide how to navigate them. Is this one last hurrah, or are they on the road back to each other?

One thing is for sure. You’ll devour this and not feel disappointed in how things work out in the end.

The plot might be lacking a little, but she never promised a great plot, she promised a spicy read and she delivered just that.
I would love to see this as a full length novel with the origin story of how they met and then got into their separation to begin with. That would be fun 😉
Overall, I got out of it what I expected. 1 star deducted for a smut ick, but it’s and ick that other might like and I’m not giving anything away lol

The plot is just enough to become emotionally invested… but make no mistake, this book is 95% spice and damn it’s HOT!
