THE SKINNY weaves humor with heart, sensuality with self-discovery. It’s about learning to shut up that a-hole critic living inside your head, and looking beyond the mirror. Because how can you see your way to happiness when you can’t even see yourself?
Big boobs, tiny waist, wide hips, and long legs. That’s still me, Zelda Gordon.
The world still calls me plus-sized.
My parents still call me voluptuous.
Drew and Aithan? They call me sexy, beautiful … and blind.
Why blind? Because I can’t see myself clearly when I put on that fatkini and look in the mirror. The woman looking back is insecure, overweight, and ugly. I may be professionally successful and loved by two — Maybe three? — hot, generous guys, but I’ve got a long way to go before my brain and my body agree.
It doesn’t help that my half-sister’s screwing with my head, and my jerk ex-boyfriend keeps showing up.
And that murderous monster spite? It’s still running free, and its teeth are sharper than sh*t.
NOTE: If you find cussing offensive, if you skip past the sex scenes, or if the idea of multiple love interests makes you clutch your pearls (not in a good way), The Fatkini Chronicles ain’t the books for you. But, if you love curvy girl, chronic illness romance with a why choose relationship and two cinnamon roll heroes who are all about her happiness, then this series is calling your name.
So Zelda, Drew & Aithan are at it again…I love those 3!!! They make you wish you were a part of their harem…they each bring their own strengths & weaknesses to the table…it may be unconventional or taboo but they are family…as far as Drew is concerned they are his only family…I also love that Zelda’s parents have taken to the men like they are part of their family…I can’t wait till we get to meet Aithan family outside of their little harem
Then we still have Zelda’s sister Greer…when you think she couldn’t possibly get any worse she says ‘hold my beer’… When Zelda went out to dinner with her men & ran into people from high school I started piecing things together but thought ‘surely not’….
And of course we hadn’t seen the last of Tristan…just when you start to feel bad for him & want to give him a hug he smacks you in the face…I’m hoping we have finally seen the last of him but with his latest screw up I’m thinking he may be around a while
I’m so ready to see where the rest of the story goes…we did get more of Tobias this time & I love what he’s adding to their little family I did see there are still 3 more books in this series to come & I can’t wait
I should have listened to my gut after the first book. I almost DNFed that book in multiple places, but curiosity got the better of me. And that's on me.
Now I'm almost 90 pages into this second book, and it feels like basically nothing has happened. It's still well written, but that's all I really have to say for it, because good prose can't make me less bored.
This book was amazing I loved how it touched on the real subject about what some of us BBW go through also love the characters I think I’m going to read it a second time 👀 thank you for allowing me to arc for you can’t wait for more 🖤🖤
If you want to read about adult people behaving like adults and exploring the bounds of their adult relationships inside and outside the bedroom in realistic and responsible ways physically and emotionally this is the series! I am so so relieved this is more than just a reverse harem, or a poly relationship in the bedroom and no where else. I was getting tired of all the authors who've been hoppingnon the poly bandwagon for the bedroom antics and not having the strength of writing/plot to explore all the logistics outside of that. (Honestly a lot of authors have been opting for the fated mates approach and that does not always work.)
The spirit of this story is willing, but the vibes were just off. These characters are all so emotionally mature and developed that they talk through everything. I suppose that might be necessary in a throuple situation, but my God these characters can talk the spontaneity and romance out of damn near anything. There was also a whole lot of weirdness surrounding the character Tobias towards the end of this book, and I still don't know how I feel about it. It made me like the FMC a lot less and I felt like she was being pushy. And Tobias also goes back and forth so many times about what he wants, it was hard to know where he really stood. There were a lot of dramatic twists in this installment of the The Fatkini Chronicles and that definitely kept my interest peaked when I was getting frustrated with all of the feelings. So, still a solid enough read that I'll keep reading the series, but not great enough that I would recommend the entire series based off of this book alone.
The first book could have been a stand alone and just been fine. I’ll probably not pick up the rest of the series. Though the plot expanded, the issues that the FMC were the same from the first book and I didn’t see much growth. Still very spicy though!
True rating 4.5/5 This was given as an ARC in exchange for a review.
I really liked this book. The polyamorous relationship is still being portrayed in a very realistic manner. There's solid communication between Zel, Aithan, and Drew, not just some group sex. They all will point out flaws for each other. Biggest example of this is the conversation between Aithan and Drew at Thanksgiving, they have a serious heart to heart, even if they aren't romantically interested in one another. All of the characters push for growth within themselves and their relationship dynamics. I also love the representation of chronic illnesses and the fact that Zelda's partners/friends are mindful of her food restrictions. The other being that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows Zelda, they mention flare ups and show how the illness can impact her mentally and physically.
On the more fun end of the review, it was a fun and spicy read. I am looking forward to seeing if Zelda's harem grows. Looking forward to Greer getting more of what she deserves, because holiday dinners aren't fun without a little drama. But, overall, this is a fun read and I definitely recommend for those who enjoy the why choose trope.
You can definitely tell the author lives in the Pacific Northwest will the amount of detail she packs. The characters are well developed and the story is interesting. HOWEVER, after reading the first two books I can confidently say they could have been condensed into one book and would read better, the spice is nice but got to the point that I skimmed through a good 2/3 of it. Also this author would benefit from making these books available on K.U. because although I'm interested in reading what happens I'm also not sure I'm willing to pay another $15 for 3 more books that could probably be sized down to 2 or less.
I've binged this series in 48 hours, and am about to go back and read it all again. I didn't realise that I'd hit reader fatigue on a lot the common tropes until I found this series (seriously, are there THAT many billionaires?).
None of the characters are perfect, even better, they're realistic. What I'd give to find guys like this in real life ... but a girl can dream.
Marvellous writing, plot develops at a great pace, and the family tensions are oh-so-real. Great sexy times, but it adds to the story rather than taking away from the rest of the writing. That's a fine balance to tread, and done beautifully.
Another fantastic book in the Fatkini Chronicles! Zelda, Drew and Aithan continue to find their place in each other’s lives. Intriguing story line with enough drama and spice to keep you hooked and rooting for their happiness. Still say everyone should have their own Drew and Aithan!! Could you imagine a world where your guy supports you (not talking financially) in everything, but can tell you the hard truths as well without being ugly or demeaning?? They are supportive of her job, understands her hangups about body image, worry about her health and love her completely. She adores both of them and supports them as well. Ah, if only….
Still a MMF Not sure if it’s meant to hilarious or insulting but having a FMC as narrator put out by a drawn out book is pretty snarky in a 5 book series. And OMG does this book does a deep drive in how restrictive Graves Disease makes your diet. Amara makes 1 short appearance in book 1 and is footnote throughout book 2. Also having a hard time with a restaurant with Scum in the name. On the bright side, characters are distinct individuals, complex, and witty- even if they seem fairly simple at times. There’s interesting backstories and ongoing subplots.
I loved everything about book 2! Lots of questions were answered, and some problems cleared up. Zel, and her guys, Aithan, and Drew, make big changes in their lives. A new huge mansion/ home to all share. Aithan finding out who was behind his brutal assault, ( not at all who I thought)! Tobias definitely wants to play it safe, and only be good friends with Zel. Big reveal from Zel's obnoxious half sister, that blows all their minds. This series is a real breath of fresh air. I highly recommend it, Trish. A.
As the journey continues, Zelda, Drew, and Aithan navigate the ins and outs of a new relationship, mental health issues, physical health, betrayal, and friendship.
Drew buys a mansion for them to live in, the guys meet her parents, her sister and her ex reveal their betrayal to her. Lots of discoveries and some much needed healing comes about.
This part of the story builds on their new relationship, learning their new dynamics, and revealing more of their personalities. It's a great read and development for the series.
I don't think I can keep on with this series. The constant use of full names, the back and forth of basically retelling the same situations. I was interested to see how they added Tobias to the mix but that man is a wreck with life and the back and forth with him alone and his conversations with her -it's just a lot. So much such is repeated just worded differently. Just not for me. I did enjoy the overall of these first 2 books and maybe/hopefully I will come back around to finish off the series because I hate leaving a continued series unfinished
I guessed that it was the ex-wife trying to keep him from testifying. But the sister and the boyfriend being a couple for almost their entire relationship was a messed up surprise. Though the mother said she understood about Greer, she kept trying to get Z to be nice to her... she's still blood/family. I was with her dad re: greer I was pleased she was not adding Tobias, but him continually coming by to start stuff was annoying. We get it, go be with your daughter.
I got the ARC of this book, and I honestly want to say it was fabulous. I just love the three of them and how much they have overcome everything. I hope Zelda stop stressing over her sister betrayal. I love how much more we gotten to see of Drew and Aithan helping each other and trying to communicate.. thanksgiving was definitely not what I expected and I loved that twist.
Continuation of Fatkini. I didn’t realize this was a lengthy series. This 2nd book dragged a bit for me. It delved deeper into Drew’s childhood and background and also Zelda’s health problems. It also revealed who was responsible for Aithan’s beating. Good ending but it’s obvious the story continues. Not really interested in any more of Zelda’s story so won’t be continuing the series.
The characters are great. I enjoyed following a long with them, enough so, that I will continue with the series to see where it goes. But I almost put this down when there were point of view (POV) changes. It was very annoying. The author needs to either make the whole book 1st POV or the whole book 3rd POV (I hope not, as I don’t like 3rd person and would probably quit a 3rd person book). The FMC (female main character) is all in 1st person, but the MMC’s (main male characters) are all in 3rd person. Makes for very confusing chapters mixed into the rest of the book. I don’t think I would read any other series by this author due to that. She definitely writes compelling characters though.
I really am kind of unsure how to feel. As an anxiety girly I am glad there isn’t any huge plot twists or third act breakups, but the story does feel a little slow. I’m glad their relationship is progressing but what’s the deal with Tobias? I feel like the author has given us whiplash with his actions. Almost like they weren’t sure what they wanted from him.
As a chronic illness girly myself, it's kinda fun to see that life portrayed in fiction. Granted, there are plenty of things in the book that never will play out in everyone's lives but it's nice to be seen. I would have been nicer if she's not an amazing amazon lol
I could not wait for book 2 after finishing book 1. Just as awesome as the first, and can we just take a minute and appreciate the body love in this book. I mean cone on built like a curvy Amazon and her men come to worship it. Yes yes
This book did a good job portraying some struggles that bigger women go through. I loveddd the dynamic the three of them had. Drew and Aithan are so protective over her, I love it! It’s such an interesting story, it did however get a bit slow at times. Overall, it’s a nice story to read!
Still very cute and the banter picked up. BOO to Tristan and Greet, they super suck. Hopefully Tobias figures himself out because the back and forth is blech. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
The second book in this series has lots of interesting perspectives of how life can come at you. It also has sweet and spicy moments. I like how the author made this a long series and not everything is so rushed.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this MFM romance series. It is a treat to spend so much time with characters and getting a real in-depth feel for each of them, their personalities, backgrounds and how they are moving forward together.
