Shireen ‘Eden’ Brooks is ready for a fresh start. Thanks to her friend, Hannah Murphy, and some special cats, that’s exactly what she’s going to get. She’s got a brand new job at an all-inclusive resort. Life is looking up, until one guest can’t check out... Eden’s going to need all the help she can get to solve this case, even if it comes from a very unexpected place. If you enjoyed Courtney McFarlin’s Razzy Cat Cozy Mystery series, you’ll love this adorable spin-off with some beloved characters from The Crisis at the Wedding who finally get to tell their own stories!
This was a good beginning. I'm glad Jasper has decided to give it a few more days (that will lead to a few more days, etc. ) before going back to the clowder. I'd like to see the characters a little more "fleshed out" so I can get to know them better, but I really love the clowder, especially Jasper. He's an older cat, but the vet said he was healthy overall. It's so nice to see someone who wants to make sure a homeless older animal has the best life possible. I think the mystery was interesting, and I'd like to read more about Eden and Jasper. Who can resist a talking cat...or a whole clowder of talking cats?
I like the first book in the series and this one was not a disappointment. A great story with an interesting plot. I hope she writes more in this series.
Amazon synopsis: Eden Brooks is getting into the swing of things at her new job, but not everything is coming up roses. When a ski-team books the resort for two weeks, it’s all hands on deck to keep everything running smoothly.
When a member of the ski-team turns up dead, the case is anything but cut and dried. Eden’s boss is the prime suspect, but he swears he’s innocent. If Eden and the gang can’t prove it, they’ll all be out of a job, and a place to live.
Having read the 15 books in the Razzy Cat series, I enjoyed reading the first in this series with many of the same characters plus several new.
When Eden checks out the clowder as she promised Hannah she would, she finds elderly Jasper near death. She takes him to the vet and lets him stay in her new cabin while he recovers. Jasper quickly warms up to her so I am guessing he will be sticking around. :)
Eden also settles into her new life at the resort, even though she becomes involved in another murder.
The murder story is light here. It is all about Eden's new life and the cats.
New series that links up with the Razzy Cat mysteries by the same author. Similar premise where the main character finds herself able to talk with cats. Together they solve a mystery. Eden seems like a good character, though not as interesting as Hannah in the other series. It seems the love interest may be another police detective. It was good hearing about the Clowder again though and seeing Jasper settling in with her.
Although I hadn't read the Razzy Cat mysteries by Ms. Mc Farlin, this book stands alone easily. I enjoyed meeting Eden and all of her new co-workers at the resort. Her new ability to understand cats and talk with them made this a fun read. I adored Jasper and all of the characters were very likable. The mystery was skillfully plotted, and I never guessed "who done it" until the reveal.
I give the 1st book in this new series 100+ stars!!!
Absolutely wonderful! I enjoyed it so very much! A fantastic start to a new series. I hope the Razzy cat crew will make appearances every so often. I found the storyline extremely fascinating! Of course, I have to say my favorite feline character is Jasper. Great series!!!!
I'm a total sucker for cats and a happy ending. Throw in a cozy mystery, too, and what's not to like. I enjoyed this first book in a new series, and I'm already looking forward to the next.
I loved the characters but would like to see a little more happening when the killer is revealed. I loved the Razzy cat series & will definitely be reading all of this series too.
Ended a bit abruptly, but good nonetheless. Enjoy learning more about the Clowder Cats and Eden. Looking forward to backstory. Fills in gaps and increases likeability of the characters. Recommend this and other books by MS McFarlin.
I really loved this well written story about a young lady, Eden who changed her first name and gets a new life This book is about Hope and we can all use some.
I loved Eden and the workers from the resort. They were so welcoming. Jasper and the rest of the clowder were purrfection. Between mentions of the food and cat interactions, I could not put this book down.
In this day of movies full of nastiness and filthy language, it’s so refreshing to just read a book that has great characters and kindness I really enjoyed reading this book and plan to look for more exploits of the Clowder Cats. Thanks so much Ms. McFarlin.
The book was sweet cozy mystery. Has paranormal elements to it. I like the characters and the cats. I wish the story had been a little longer. I will read the next book in the series.
This spin off from the Razzy Cat mysteries got off to a good start. I'm glad we got to find out more about the clowder. I like the new characters and the setting. I look forward to continuing the series.
Loved how Edan interacts with her friends and, of course the clowder and especially Jasper. Surprise as to who the killer was but can certainly understand why.
