Berserker Devotion by Asa Maria Bradley
Norse Warriors Protectors series book 4. Paranormal shifter romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but better if at least one or two of the series has been read.
Previously published in anthology Shifters & Mistletoe which is no longer available.
Ulf gets stuck in the snow trying to find a wood carver in the wilderness for King Leif. Falling and hitting his head on a rock leaves him unconscious laying in the snow. Wolf shifter Nora can’t leave him or he will freeze to death, so she drags him back to her Uncle’s small cabin to find out what he might know about her missing uncle. Before long, Ulf’s Berserker is claiming that Nora is their fated mate and the attraction is undeniable for both Ulf and Nora.

Steamy hot, with a bit of suspense as they get to know each other, and track down the uncle who has been kidnapped.
Intriguing world building and fated lovers. A bit of humor and sexy scenes make this novella irresistible.

Interesting twist

The thing is I really liked the first few stories where the Berserkers were finding their soul mates from humans... But then the stories kinda switched to wolf shifters and witches... I would have liked it better if there was more interaction with the original king and Queen and the other Berserkers. At least in this story they are at least there for a cameo but it sorta seems counter productive to split up the Berserker pack. I wish the series had focused on the 7 Berserker, then maybe at the end Ulf could have met Nora and switched to the west coast wolf shifter pack in a second series... Or even focused on the Berserker who went to Mexico to help the other Berserkers there... I liked Ulf's story although it was kinda short and sweet... Only one real witch attack and they only touched and the witch fled... No where near the excitement of previous books in the battles that were fought. It seems Bolt the wolf shifter gets the next series... Wonder if the Berserkers will even appear... Maybe Ulf since he moved to be with Nora...

Ulf Stenrik, an immortal Viking, has volunteered to pick up a Yuletide gift for his king to give to the queen. But when he gets stuck in the snow on the way to the reclusive woodcarver's place, he begins to regret that decision. The fierce winter storm has trapped Nora Bretagne, a wolf shifter, in her uncle's cabin preventing her search for him to continue. Nora trusts no one, but things begin to change when Ulf helps Nora. Now, can a holiday miracle keep them together?

I love this author's books and this one's no exception. I really enjoyed this combination of intrigue, romance, and suspense combined with Norse mythology. This was a short, but steamy, story with a happily ever after that drew me in and kept me hooked as I read it in one sitting. I look forward to the next book in this series and more books by the author. I highly recommend this read. I did receive a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest, unbiased review.

Can a verse tier found a possible mate out of the blue?

1st off it was 2 short!! It needed 2 b longer and have a little bit more action in it. It barely had any action at all in it. So far the other books were long and had action, love, mates, etc. But this one was ok, not the best. I was disappointed since it's been a yr or 2 it seems like since the last book. He went 2 do a favor 4 his king as a surprise but he found a few interesting things like a possible mate he didn't know if he wanted. Will he help her find who they both were looking 4 in x? I was hoping 4 A long book like the rest and 4 them both 2 figure things out 2gether and decide what 2 do, fight or just b 2gether, etc. Hopefully they will b another book about them that goes into more details than this one does.

Ulf was on a personal mission for his King. Things are not going as he thought it would. First he gets stuck in the snow , then he falls and hit his head ...only to awaken tied to a bed by his ankles and wrists.

Nora is worried to distraction since her uncle went missing. Could this gorgeous man have anything to do with it? She isn't sure yet ..what she does know is she can't stop thinking about the things she'd like to do to this man she has captured.

Ulf and Nora discover that they are on the same side even though they knew nothing of one another. The God's do love their secrets.

A fast read that is filled with discovery, a touch of mystery and a good dose of steamy goodness.

First time reading this author I believe and I was NOT disappointed.

overall I liked it well enough. but there were literal sections that we basically copied and pasted from the previous book.

My other issue with the book overall was him leaving the Hird. while its great the guy leaves for the girl, its a little hard to make it make sense for me. this group was hand picked by the gods and also do blood bonds to stay together. there are so few members of the Hird vs a wolf pack, even if she is their lawyer. it just would have made more sense for them to stay with the Hird at least temporarily. he made an oath to protect his king and queen and Hird and just bounces

I LOVED this book! The idea of a “Beserker” as your other self rather than an animal is so cool. And combined in this book with a wolf shifter was brilliant. Ulf was such a great character, funny, sexy and well, devoted…Nora is smart, strong and protective of her family. Ulf is on a mission to find the perfect gift for his Alpha’s soulmate and runs into Nora, after some confusion and funniness they realize what’s happening and it’s full speed ahead with these two. Their chemistry is blazing hot and their attraction magnetic. Very good romance and I’m looking forward to the next book.

The Sex

Is more my style in this book
Yet none of the detailed parts of a developing relationship (like the other 3.

An extended wham-bam-ty-ma’am/yes sir! Anytime…☺️☺️

Like a female version of the pizza deliver man type porn for males.

Feels like an EXTREMELY short story, so 3 stars

I am a seriously confused reader right now

Very trepidatious to read book 5

Will this one be about Scott? Finally?

Will it be as empty/short as this one?

Or will be another abrupt transition?

Ulf gets stuck in the snow trying to find a wood carver. Wolf shifter Nora can’t leave him or he will freeze to death. What will they do with their time stuck in a cabin alone? Ulf knows Nora is his mate, but she is very hesitant to accept that. An interesting short story that has romance and suspense to keep you reading. I recommend you read this book. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

1. The spicy scene was almost exactly the same as in the first (?) book and the dialogue the same as in the last one
2. and the "we know exactly that we are mates and need each other, but we will separate until someone will call us" Idiot" or just gives us a blue eye" doesn't work every single time when a mate is the best, rarest and goddess given thing for these people
3. Nothing about their story showed devotion for the other. If the title meant devoted to your king. Maybe.

It was okay. Very short and without drama. I really didn’t feel the pull between them. It was kinda meh. It didn’t have that fate mate feeling. It was take it or leave it. The only action was with a witch that got away. You have to ask what is the point of this book. It went no where and it didn’t solve anything. Unfortunately it’s disappointing.

fun read-31/2stars

A quick fun read a Norse warrior is sent by his King to a wolf carver to secure a present for his queen.
He has to abandon his jeep due to an accident in a snowstorm and he falls and knocks himself out. He is found by the niece of the carver who thinks he is to blame for the missing carver.

Good but short story I really like Nora, definitely steamy but skip over most of that and the rest not up to par with the first two books in the series. For a novella way too many editing/proofing errors. Enjoyed the story but wish authors would spend a few extra days to proofread.

Repetitive

Same sex scenes as Astrids book. The Audible version has horrible narration. Not much new with the characters. Not even sure I want to finish the series. Too many loose ends never tied up from previous books and there's no imagination in the bedroom. Grateful this was a free check out on Kindle. I would be upset if I paid money for this.

Nice short story

I was into this novella, but when it got to this sex scenes, the author reused the same verbiage in previous books; just changed the names. I was pretty disappointed with that decision. Otherwise it was a good short story.

Cute novella. It’s fun seeing all the characters different storylines and seeing them when they crossover. I feel like there’s definitely more that could be written but as novellas go, they still place a lot into a short amount.

Short and Sweet

I liked Ulf and Nora’s story, but feel like they got short changed in it. It’s much shorter than the previous stories in the series and doesn’t have as much conflict, relationship qualms etc. Good characters, but just didn’t have enough to it. 4✨’s

Awesome

Nice length for people who don't have a lot of time for reading. The storyline is good and character development is diverse so they all have different personalities.

A good shifter romance with suspense. Ulf is a beserker who was sent to pick up a gift from the king to his queen. He ended up meeting up with wolf shifter Nora. It’s more like a novella and leaves lots of questions yet is not an actual cliffhanger. I look forward to reading future books by Ms Bradley.
