UNDERGROUND THEORY IS
A collection of timely and cutting edge essays by working class nobodies who are just trying to think, plus some big-named renegade academics who see the value in McKerracher’s timenergy theory, Mikey (of The Dangerous Maybe blog)’s working class education work, or the general idea of radical grass roots experiments that have institutional support. Each chapter contributes in some fundamental way to the ultimate questions, concepts, problems, or fields within the purvue of TU’s research agenda. theorizing the emerging education and philosophy underground, critical media theory (CMT), ideology critique (including the Left itself), historical interpretation, and even a work on the dialectics of fitness, health, and nutrition. What unifies all these threads? The question concerning who we are and what is the nature of The Good Life.

THEORY UNDERGROUND IS
A critical media theory and alternative education experiment founded, organized, and run by David McKerracher (the most loveable and loved deplorable info hazard nobody known to man, (according to some very credible sources!). So what is TU? Theory Underground is a course-gated social media and publishing site/APP with ongoing lecture courses, seminars, and research cohorts. Some say it is an educational boot camp for the Post-Left, whereas others say it is where burnouts and old vets of the Left go in order to figure out why social change in all of its current formulations is doomed to failure, for the sake of finding some better way forward (time for a system update!). The first collective report from David McKerracher's Theory Underground organization is very much an echo of that "post-left" educational organization itself (or at least a snapshot of where and what the organization was in early 2024), a maddeningly essential mixture of high and low brow critical theory, where famous philosophers and factory workers share page space, where meticulously researched Marxist theories uncomfortably rub elbows with knee-jerk reactionary social criticisms and you might be surprised at which originates where.
