I'm bringing a rough-around-the-edges, alien smuggler as my plus-one to a holiday party on the Valox rebel base. But can I convince them that he’s my boyfriend before sharing my small room drives us both mad? Let the fa-la-la-fun begin! This might not be so hard if I was the kind of girl who dated bad boys. I’m not. I’m a fighter pilot for the Valox resistance who can hold her own against any tough guy. It doesn’t hurt that I spent my childhood being carted around the galaxy and learning tricks from my card-shark father. Which is why when the silver-skinned alien eyes me like an easy mark in the grungy bar, I can’t resist taking him for all he’s worth. But I don’t care about his money. I want him to pretend to be my boyfriend so one of the new mechanics at the base will stop hitting on me. The plan is foolproof. Yool will come to the holiday party as my date, convince everyone that I’m off-limits, and then hightail it out of my life. What I didn’t bet on is the smuggler being so frustratingly charming that my fellow rebels are convinced he’s a candidate for the nice list. Sharing my quarters is putting us both in serious danger of landing on the naughty list for life! When the base is sabotaged after Yool arrives and he’s blamed for it, I have to prove he’s innocent before the holly jolly holidays become a merry mess. This sweet and steamy holiday tale is part of the Holidate With an Alien collection, a collaboration of authors telling holiday tales with a science fiction romance twist. Each book is a standalone, containing its own Happily Ever After. They can be read in any order.
I love sexy aliens and independent heroines. I grew up on Star Trek: Next Generation and Star Wars (and I adore them equally). My favorite superhero is Thor (with Aquaman a close second because, well, Jason Momoa), my favorite dessert is key lime pie (okay, fine, all pie), and I still lament the loss of Firefly.
I live in North Carolina in the US and have one husband, two teenagers, and two neurotic cats. I sometimes wish I could teleport to a holographic space station like the one in my tribute brides series (or maybe vacation at the oasis with the sand planet barbarians). :-) When I'm not writing, I love to paddleboard, dive, travel, and read obsessively!
Aaand it was pretty cute. This is very short, quick moving little novella, with a very badass heroine, a cool setting and Star Wars vibes. I am pretty sure the hero is just a big silver alien version of Han Solo and I didn’t hate that. So, this was very Star Wars-coded with lots of cute Christmas moments. The only downsides were that it was too short and their relationship was undeveloped and went too quickly from fake dating to real love. And I don’t mind a man-whore who redeems himself for the heroine, but both main characters were anti-relationship (that’s why they fake dated) but he was a whore who banged every species and she hadn’t had any sex in years. So the shitty double standard was there and it did not need to be . If she had had partners recently, I would have been totally fine with him being promiscuous. Authors need to stop reinforcing these causal misogynistic stereotypes and let these women have some damned fun!
Check this out if you like cute alien Christmas novellas with Star Wars-y feels.
Looking for a light read to enjoy during the festive season? Look no further than Yool by Tana Stone! This fast-paced sci-fi romance follows the story of Brooke, a daring female pilot, and Yool, a frustratingly sexy alien smuggler, as they embark on a fake dating adventure filled with steamy moments and dirty talking.
✨ "I don't know this Santa, but I give gifts to naughty girls. Do you want to be a bad girl for me, babe?" - Yool ✨
The book has dual-POV narration and is perfect for readers who enjoy holiday romances about opposites attracting, a notorious playboy falling in love, supportive sidekicks, and happy endings with quick conflict resolution.
I enjoyed this cozy alien romance immensely - 5 stars!
I received an advance review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.
A resistance pilot walks into a bar...as it turns out, Brooke is no joke with cards and she wipes the floor with Yool after he thinks he's suckering her into a game. The kicker? She doesn't want his money, just his presence at the upcoming Christmas party so she doesn't have to spend the time fending off the advances of an annoying mechanic.
Yool is...well, he's totally taken in by Brooke's wide-eyed innocent looks. He plans on quietly divesting her of some credits in a friendly card game and moving along. He absolutely doesn't expect to get his booty handed to him by said wide-eyed innocent OR end up playing her boyfriend at a resistance Christmas party. And while he absolutely has no plans to stick around after fulfilling his part of the bargain, he finds himself getting more and more entangled in Brooke's life and soon he has ALL THE FEELINGS for the scrappy pilot.
Just to spice things up, not-so-random attacks on the resistance base has everybody jumpy, Brooke is starting to suspect sabotage, and Yool is under suspicion just for being the new guy. Let's just say that THINGS HAPPEN and it doesn't take long before both Brooke and Yool realize they might have something special between them.
a quick, steamy, alien christmas romance. i loooved this story. yool is the perfect balance of arrogant and sexy, and brooke is such an adorable little bad ass. the banter is sooo good and the spice was *chefs kiss*. i’m only sad that their story is over so quickly
Great short story from Tana Stone in the Holidate with an Alien series. Written with her usual enthusiasm, the characters, storyline, and the inevitable HEA all blend together in a story I enjoyed immensely. I received an ARC from the author and am leaving this review voluntarily.
🖤 “You’re all the present I need.” ~~~ Brooke is not only a great Valox resistance pilot, but she’s also a skilled gambler who knows how to win and never backs down from a challenge. She might appear innocent at first sight, but Brooke is so fierce, sassy, brave, direct and just so much fun. She does not believe in love or relationships and has quite the serious view on life. But she also has so much love for Christmas! Brooke is so awesome and I loved her so, so much!
Yool is a rough-around-the-edges smuggler who can charm the pants off any female that stands in his way. He’s big, cocky, confident, witty, resourceful and often tends to get in trouble. Even more, he’s a playboy who steers clear of relationships and emotions. But Yool is also really thoughtful, protective and so deliciously possessive. And that filthy mouth of his! Yool is an incredible male and I adored every single thing about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Brooke and Yool! They meet at an outpost bar and both are looking for an easy target and even easier win. But neither is what the other expects and both definitely meet their match. Then Brooke not only takes Yool’s credits, but also wins his promise to pretend to be her boyfriend during the Christmas celebrations on the Valox base. I adored those two together! I loved their banters and teasing and that both gave as good as they got. And I was laughing my butt off with all the pet names Yook could think about Brooke. And, soon, between the holiday preparations, the cookie baking and someone trying to sabotage the Valox base, their arrangement became so much more. In the beginning neither of them wanted a relationship, but, oh how the mighty fall when love sneaks into their hearts. And when they couldn’t resist the undeniable need for one another, the passionate moments they shared were off-the-charts hot and I couldn’t get enough of all the naughty delight. And did I mention that Yool is the best gift giver ever?! He and Brooke were so perfect for each other and I absolutely loved every step of their journey towards happiness and love.
Overall, the story is a wonderful, festive, fun and naughty read and I absolutely loved every single page of it!
I absolutely loved this story. The sexy banter between the main characters is great. A reformed bad boy is so hot! Highly recommend! A must read this holiday season!
Brooke is a human Valox Resistance pilot, a card sharp and is obsessed with all things Christmas. Dani is her co-pilot and best friend.
Yool is a silver skinned Zarbling alien smuggler and a card sharp. He has a strict love 'em and leave 'em policy which occasionally gets him in hot water.
They meet in a dive bar and are both looking to play cards and fleece each other. Brooke pretends to be a novice and lets Yool win a few games until the pot gets large. She bets him more money than he has so she says she wants him to go to her holiday party pretending to be her boyfriend. She has a co-worker, Gregor, who has been asking her out and she doesn't want anything to do with him. Yool loses and she brings him to the Resistance base. One of the first people they bump into is Gregor so Yool plants a smoking hot kiss on Brooke in front of him. Yool gets into the holiday party preparations even though he doesn't understand all of them. Brooke drags him back to her quarters to say she doesn't want to deceive her friends anymore and they hook up. A warning siren goes off and base Security takes Yool away to be questioned. Brooke overhears a private conversation which upsets her and she runs out of the party. She sees someone sabotaging the ship. Yool rescues her, they reconcile and get their HEA.
I loved Brooke and Yool’s alien-human, fake relationship, holiday romance. This book was just what a holiday novella should be, heartwarming, steamy, and fun. It hooked me in from the first sentence and took me along for a happy ride that kept me smiling all the way to the HEA ending. Brooke is a Valox resistance fighter who loves to gamble and she usually wins. Her innocent looks and demeanor are frequently disarming to other players. She also loves the old Earth holiday of Christmas. Yool is a Zarbling, an arrogant playboy, and a smuggler. He also loves to gamble and he usually wins. When Brooke and Yool meet in an outpost bar and agree to a card game, Brooke wins all Yool’s credits and a promise to pretend to be her boyfriend at the Valox Christmas party to deter a creepy persistent guy. Neither Brooke nor Yool is interested in a relationship ever. Of course, neither of them expects their chemistry to be off the charts or their fake feelings to start to feel real. To get to their HEA there is baggage unpacking and leaps of faith by both Brooke and Yool all while dodging sabotage and finding the bad guy. Despite the length, this novella was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters, and an engaging storyline with sweet moments, steam, alien physiology and cultures, loyal friends, painful pasts, drama, missteps, secrets, and laughs. No one writes alien romances better than this author.
Yool, an alien space pirate who makes his living smuggling alien sex toys meets his match when he strolls into a saloon and decides to spend an hour or two conning the human at the bar out of her money. What he didn’t know was that Brooke was no mere woman, she’s a rebel fighter pilot and more of a card sharp than he is and soon turns the tables on him cleaning him out. To settle his debts, he agrees to play her fake boyfriend back at the base so she can get rid of an overeager suitor and enjoy her Christmas party.
With fantastic characters with sizzling chemistry, this novella was sweet and spicy in equal measure. Yool was a bit of a badboy with a heart of gold and was perfectly matched with Brooke who had a bit of wild streak in her and even though this book was just over a hundred pages in length, this author managed to fit a lot into a story involving fake relationships and a saboteur on the base, no prizes for guessing who the number one suspect was! I loved Brooke’s way of remembering her mum by bringing earth Christmas traditions to a bunch of aliens who were for the most part bemused at the idea of paper chains and trees but were more than happy to get behind the holiday spirit especially when it included rum punch. Holidate with an Alien is what you would get if Hallmark did sci-fi romance.
Oh Oh Oh how I loved this book. It’s a cute steamy fun Holiday Christmas Alien story and is part of a collection of stories in the Holidate series by various authors. It’s a fun steamy read with Yool a space alien and Brooke a human. Yool makes his living as a smuggling space pirate.Brooke is a Valox resistance fighter she has innocent looks and loves earths old world Holiday Christmas. They both meet in a bar and agree to a card game where Brooke wins all of Yools credits. To settle the debt Yool agrees to be her fake boyfriend at the Valox Christmas Party on base to help get rid of unwanted, persistent advances of a persistent admirer. Neither of them expects to have feelings, or for their chemistry to be off the charts. It’s an engaging, entertaining sweet, heartfelt storyline that has moments of drama secrets fake relationships friendships steam painful pasts sabotage bad guys suspense lots of laughs sizzling chemistry romance love and feel good Christmas feelings. It put me in such a feel good Holiday spirit that I can’t wait to read it again and continue reading the series. I loved everything about this book and if you want a good holiday Christmas spirit with a smile on your face then I suggest reading this book.
I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest review.
2 sexy card shark hustlers meet their match in each other. One a cocky and sexy af commitment phobe alien smuggler, and the other an “innocent” doe-eyed rebel pilot commitment phobe. So, when this “innocent” doe-eyed pilot out hustles the hustler, she wins his money and him to be her pretend boyfriend at their Christmas party to keep away an unwanted suitor. What could possibly go wrong? So much fun.
Safe read, with a fun storyline and sexy hot couple that might make you blush. Yool never had or ever wanted a relationship, but he ends up being such a romantic. You guys, he had someone bring her a Christmas tree because the base didn’t have one for the Christmas party. So let me be clear, he had his bestie fly to a planet, sneak into a protected forest on an alien world, remove a tree, and fly it to a hidden base….cue the awe’s because that is freaking adorable. Add in some laughs, like their pet names, some super sexy times that prove neither are innocent, a little suspense, a hea, and you get a great holiday read….you’re welcome.
3 1/2 stars Another fun story in the holidate series. I hope this becomes an annual tradition.
Yool and Brooke meet during a card game where she dupes him into believineg she’s an inexperienced player and not a card shark. His loss involves pretending to be her boyfriend at an upcoming Christmas party and act as a foil against another male’s unwanted advances. Both of them sense a connection even though they’re avowed non commitment types. Their mutual attraction leads to some heat between the sheets.
After the party starts an alarm goes off and Yool is detained and questioned as a suspect who sabotaged the base. Once cleared, Brooke overhears him talking to his partner about a bet made that he would be able to bed her. She runs off with hurt feelings and manages to encounter the real saboteur and become his prisoner. Yool saves the day and it looks like he and his friend may become the newest resistance fighters.

The rebels are having a Christmas party and Brooke has been looking forward to it. Unfortunately that is dashed when her best friend informs her that the new mechanic that can't take no for an answer plans on trying to convince her to go out with him at the party. Lucky for Brooke she is great at cards and the bartender has a vendetta against playboy, Han Solo coded Yool. When the idea to have Yool pose as her boyfriend to get Mister Creepy to get away, she makes a bet he can't refuse, then smooshes him in cards...forcing him to keep his word and honor the bet.
This story is super Star Wars coded, a few little Trekkie references sprinkled in there, but super Star Wars inspired. I really wish I had written them all down or highlighted them all, it was almost like an Easter egg hunt for nerds. It was kind of fun. The rebels vs the empire. The secret underground base is totally not Hoth *winkwink*. Yool and his co-pilot are definitely not Chewy and Han. And Brooke is one hundred percent not Leia if she were just rebel and not a princess. There was so much more, but it was so fun for me.
It's pretty obvious pretty quickly they are going to crack, they are both super into each other (as they should be of course) but neither are interested in settling down (also of course). But it's so cute to watch them squirm. Especially when Yool is in the kitchen making Christmas cookies with her friends and showing her what her favorite holiday really means to her.
And the ending? Just totally swoon-worthy. I could die.
This was adorable and spicy. I absolutely loved it. Some of the dialogue in the spicy scenes was a bit cheesy, but it didn’t make me cringe like other books made me. Maybe it was the Christmas setting? Idk. But the 🍆 in this had me 👀👀. That and the grand gesture? Loved it! I suspected most of the plot line once we got going, but it didn’t diminish my enjoyment at all. Overall, a really good read!
Brooke may look like wide eyed innocent human, but in reality she is a pilot for the resistance. And a card shark. Yool is a smuggler who is also good at cards, but was fleeced by Brooke. He was so sure he was going to win that he even bet he would pretend to be her boyfriend at a Christmas Party to get some guy to back off. Looks like he’s being blindfolded and flown into a secret rebel base.
Thank you to Literally Yours PR for the copy, all thoughts are my own.
If you want a fast paced and super sexy, alien romance, this is a great story in a collection of holidate alien romances by a variety of authors. Tana Stone is brilliant at building, a story, and then bringing it to a happy conclusion, which is what she has done with Brooke who is a human female and Yool, who is the alien that shows Brooke that she has met her match. When she tries to get him to pretend to be her boyfriend, so she can avoid the new mechanic on the bass, something happens at the base to sabotage it and Yool is accused of it, now they both need to try and prove his innocence and their Christmas holiday becomes one big mess. There is a happier ever after for this couple. I highly recommend reading this book if you enjoy this type of story.
I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.
I'm going to admit, I'm not really a sci-fi/alien romance kind of gal but when something keeps popping up on my radar, I eventually check it out... Thus here we are! And honestly? It was surprisingly fun.
I wasn't sure this was going to be for me in the beginning. Neither Brooke nor Yool seemed like 'people' I could like but it only took a few chapters to settle into the story and both of them grew on me! It was fun to see 'Christmas' on a distant planet and hilarious seeing the human Brooke explain to her alien beau all the random quirks and traditions of the holiday... Not to mention having to explain the concept of Santa's Naughty List when you've repeatedly referred to it in non-PG situations!
You're not going to be surprised by the direction the plot takes but if you're looking for a quick, fun, read with a good dose of festive spirit then give it a try!
I love Tana's stories so much! Her writing style is so effortless, and she manages to pack so much depth, drama, and passion into each story she creates. Yool was a fun, charismatic, and arrogant male who gets swindled because he fell prey to Brooke's ditsy girl-charm. What started as an agreement to get an obnoxious suitor off Brooke's radar turns into an unwanted attraction between a male who lives in the moment and a female who doesn't want a relationship. I loved how their relationship developed and all of the Christmas commentary. Absolutely recommend!
What a Yool, Yool, Hoo of a great time reading this enjoyable alien romance story that's about Yool our Zarbling alien smuggler and Brooke our card-shark human rebel pilot with the Valox resistance. This was a highly entertaining read with all the happenings as Brooke who loves Christmas makes a refuel stop to scratch an itch of playing cards and meets Yool. Brooke wins and takes his money, but gives him a way out, to be her plus one at a Christmas party. Yool accepts. What occurs as Yool gets accused of sabotage and Brooke tries to help him is a page turning story. Loved the characters and the storyline was engaging in this copy I'd received and volunteer to review. This is a great story in this "Holidate with an Alien" series written by Tana Stone.
This story is set in the Warriors of Vandar universe. Yool is a smuggler and a bit of a warrior. A love them and leave them type who just hasn't met his match yet. Brooke looks young and innocent but she's a Volax fighter pilot and a card shark as well! She's totally afraid of commitment and just wants to earn a little credit and have a bit of an adrenaline rush. She was not expecting Yool she new his type and she doesn't want anything to do with him. A holiday party a stalking creep and a card game chance everything for them both . this will be the most exciting and passionate Christmas ever. Highly recommend such a wonderful! Holiday read💖🔥💖🔥🌟🔥🌟💖🔥🌟🔥🌟💖🔥🌟🔥💖🔥🌟🌟💖
A rebel pilot and a smuggler walk into a bar WHAT could possibly go wrong? Well…plenty in this exciting holiday Sci-Fi romance from author Tana Stone and part of the new Holidate series by various authors. Yool the alien smuggler and rebel pilot Brooke are featured in a sweet, and charming story taking place within the Vandar universe and surrounded by a little intrigue, spice and fun which complimented a nicely written adventure and it’s equally wonderful cast of supporting characters which made the narrative a very engaging Yool-tide treat!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I was literally cheering Brooke on in the beginning for her to take him for everything he had. 🤣 I honestly loved this book. It had Leia and Han Solo vibes throughout whilst being a cute, fun holiday romance. 😍
🛸 Alien romance 🛸 Christmas themed 🛸 A cocky love-em-and-leave-them smuggler 🛸 Resistance pilot FMC 🛸 Fake Dating 🛸 Light and fun
* Although this book is being released as part of a multi author series and references Tana's Vandar series, it can be read as a complete standalone with no issues at all, so don't let that put you off trying this holiday romance if you haven't read any of the others.
If you like to see two people that are so much alike yet so different come together this is the book for you. Talk about fighting the attraction. Brooke is a fighter pilot and she knew only one way to get a pain in the ass off her back and that was to bring someone with her to their Christmas party. Seeing as Yool was basically a space pirate and a card shark, she knew his confidence would be his undoing. Needless to say losing a bet Yool is now her date for the holiday party. This book is so amazing, trying to pretend when neither of you are really pretending makes for an interesting courtship but now the pain in the butt is out to destroy not only her but the hidden base. Now Yool has to clear his name, save the base and declare his love for Brooke. I love a good Christmas happily ever after.
Gambling, a smuggler, a fake relationship, the Valox, and sabotage all come together to create a winning Christmas story!
Yool is a cute and steamy holiday read, with enough romance and intrigue to keep you turning the pages. Brooke thought her plan of having a fake boyfriend for the holiday party was foolproof. But nothing is ever foolproof, and she faces her guest being blamed for the sabotage while also trying not to fall for him.
If you like your Christmas romance with aliens, fake dating, only one bed, paper snowflakes, and a dash of intrigue then Yool is the book for you.
A fake relationship, a valox pilot and an alien smuggler, who both have a bit of a gambling problem. Brooke needs a fake boyfriend to dwarf the unwanted advances of a fellow Valox member. Yool is a playboy smuggler that doesn't trust emotions. They met in an outpost bar and play a game of cards with Brooke being the winner. This holiday romance was fun, light, spicy, entertaining, heartwarming, a bit suspenseful and such a pick me up.
I was given a free copy of this book and I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wow, best Christmas ever. This read has just about everything you want/ need for the holiday season. Talk about spunky, Brooke is definitely in a class of her own. Never one to shy down from a challenge or a bet.
Yool is definitely a player. He has the looks, the body, and most definitely the charisma of a God. But oh how the mighty fall when they are swept away literally and figuratively.
The Christmas season and festivities bring romance, passion and love to the two most unlikely to have ever foreseen this. A true Christmas miracle !
What started out as a bet turned into love. Brooke thought Yool was an easy mark for cards and besides winning his credits, she got a pretend boyfriend. She took him to her secret base for the Christmas celebration. That's when the fun begins with Yool getting into the decorations and celebration. Then the base shields were sabotaged and Yool was thought to be the culprit. Brooke finds the real saboteur but during that process, she finds love with Yool and a happily ever after. This is a sweet and steamy Christmas romance.
It's an intense but fun read! Brooke is now one of my favorite characters from the books I've most recently read! She has skills and confidence and knows her worth. Yool is kind of a tool at the beginning, displaying a misogynistic ignorance that plays right into Brooke's plan. I loved the pacing of this story and the respect the characters displayed throughout it. I loved the way two love deniers quietly changed positions in the middle of a mystery. It was a fun read, with lots of great dialogue and nothing too technical or hard to pronounce in my head!
Yool is a total scoundrel!! And Brooke isn't much better...and I loved them! They are wonderful together in this fun, steamy alien Christmas story by Tana Stone. All of the characters are great and I adored Wyn. The story keeps you reading past a sensible bedtime. I really enjoyed this book, so much that I didn't want it to end. Tana Stone has a way with words that is a cut above others. Her world building is great as is her story telling. Always worth buying her books. She's a 1-click for me. 5 stars
