Drinda McKenzie is struggling to stay afloat. She’s just bought into in the famous Coffee Loft franchise. People in Cherry Lake are reluctant to take a risk on her shop and if they don’t start coming by, she’ll lose her life savings. Her favorite customer is a kindly matchmaker who thinks her grandson is the perfect man for Drinda. Too bad an outgoing guy like Ford would never be interested in a wall flower like her.
Ford Langhammer is busy enough as it is, but when his grandmother keeps thrusting the lovely Drinda into his life, he’s tempted to fall for her matchmaking schemes except he’s a little wary of women after his last disastrous relationship. When his boss assigns him to help with Cherry Lake’s Valentine’s Ball, he’s stuck in close proximity with Drinda. She’s entirely too quiet and shy for him. They’ve got nothing in common, but he can’t stop thinking about her.
Will the magic of Valentine’s Day join forces with an inveterate matchmaker and bring Ford and Drinda together, or will their difference over how to run the Valentine’s Ball make them died in the wool enemies forever?

These Coffee Loft books are just so fun and adorable! I've enjoyed ever one that I've read and this one had me laughing out loud over these two characters and their mishaps, attempts at friendship, trying to avoid each other, wanting to help each other, being pulled into matchmaking attempts from Grammy, antics from a cute puppy, misunderstandings, trying to follow all of the rules, and much, much more!
Drinda is so sweet. I loved hearing the descriptions of her newly renovated Coffee Loft. It used to be a church building that she bought and fixed up. It sounds like a very cozy and happy place to be and is drawing in many customers. Especially those firefighters across the way. One of which is Ford. And can I just say their meet-cute is quite memorable, as well as their follow-up meetings.
So many sweet moments, some frustrating ones for the characters, funny ones and memorable ones, especially when that puppy and Grammy get involved! Oh, and, watch out for ice! *Winks*
Content: Clean. Some sweet kisses but nothing further. No swearing.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
The story is part of The Coffee Loft Series and each story reads well as a stand-alone. This one takes place in Canada, in Cherry Lake. It has a great cast of characters and lots of humor.
Drinda McKenzie moved to Cherry Lake, a place where she spent time as a youngster with her Oma and Opa while her parents were away. After a breakup, she needs to break away and begin anew. With the encouragement of a friend, she will invest in the Coffee Loft where she will find an older church and turn it into her coffee house/bakery.
Ford Langhammer works with the Cherry Lake Fire Department, is a shift supervisor, and is also the fire inspector. He has invested well and owns multiple rentals and businesses around Cherry Lake.
The story will have Franny wanting her grandson, Ford, to find a nice girl, marry, settle down, and have babies. She has befriended Drinda and is constantly making comments about her grandson to her. Franny is a regular at The Coffee Loft, enjoying her coffees and pastries and even buying some items and asking Drinda to deliver—right to the fire department where she will run into Ford.
The story is comical, and entertaining, and has moments of groans and laughter. Ford has it in his mind that he wants to marry, have a stay-at-home wife and mother for his children (that he doesn’t have yet), and doesn’t want to deviate from his vision of how it should be. Drinda just started this business, investing her savings, and is determined to make it work. Slowly she is gaining regulars, and it isn’t just the coffee, but her baking skills are drawing people in. Franny has convinced Drinda she needs to be part of the Valentine’s Day Dinner and Ball, and this is a wonderful way for people to try her desserts. She has not only roped in Drinda, but Ford too, and they are on the same team, the one to decide what dessert should be served this year. He wants a traditional dessert, and she wants something more unique. This is only another way for them to but heads.
Ford: You’re an accident looking for a place to happen. Drinda: How is it my fault? Ford: You—ran off—without thinking—about the ice. I tried to save you. Drinda: What’s the big deal? I’d have landed on my backside. Maybe bruised my tailbone. Frankly, Ford, you need to loosen up. Your spine’s so stiff you probably can’t bend enough to tie your shoes.
This was a fun and clean contemporary story with charming characters, just enough angst, and interaction between the characters. But, they will have some tense moments that will have these two at odds with one another. Will leaving be a wake-up call? Has a disagreement ended what appeared to be the beginnings of a relationship? All over a puppy?
This was so adorable and sweet. Drinda owns the Coffee Loft in town and is doing her best to run things by herself. Ford is a straight laced fire fighter, inspector, land lord, rule following man who knows exactly what he wants....well, he thought he did. Then he met Drinda and his world turned upside down. This love story is sugar sweet, meddling grannies and stray dog included!
Cute, closed door romance with Drinda and Ford. I enjoyed the dynamic here with the coffee shop and the firehouse being so close. Add Ford as the fire inspector for a little extra drama!
I enjoyed Ford right from the start. A little sarcastic, and a little grumpy, but Drinda brings out his sweet side.
This book was absolutely fun to read. I actually laughed out loud more than a few times. I couldn’t put it down and read it in a few hours. The characters were realistic, believable and I was immersed in their world. I did have a moment of wondering what was happening with the dog but when he returns was truly elated. I was taken back to the days of first time puppy parent memories and it was very heartwarming. Truly a charming romance. Highly recommend.

Sweet romantic story between Drinda and Ford. An easy read that was made more enjoyable with the secondary characters like Ford's Grammie L. By the end I was wanting more of the story and wished it was longer.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was so cute and very well written. The enemies to lovers vibe really sold me and the cute little curses that were either coffee or food related really grew on me. I appreciate Ford’s character growth especially including his change of heart about dating a career woman. Good on him for no longer limiting himself! The dog was a star player as well and Drinda’s group of friends and Ford’s matchmaking grandmother were a hoot. A sweet story all around and thank you so much to Katie O’Connor for giving me an advanced reader copy to enjoy!
Sweet and charming with a shot of espresso on the side! While a couple parts seemed rushed, the story was a great snowy day read! I highly recommend Katie O'Connor's books and look forward to many more fun stories.

Drinda McKenzie has opened The Coffee Loft in Cherry Lake with hopes of making a big splash. She has poured her money, heart and soul into the business. Now she just needs more customers. She can count on Franny coming to visit every day for her coffee, or as I preferred to call her, Franny the Merry Matchmaker. Franny wants to play matchmaker with Drinda with the local firefighter hunk, Ford Langhammer. Franny just so happens to also be Grammie to Ford.
Ford Langhammer is a by the books kind of guy. There are no gray areas for Ford. He is a rule follower, and actually a little stuffy at times. He is most definitely grumpy. Let's just suffice it to say that one of their first meetings does not go as planned. When they get thrown together to work on the Valentines Ball, the fireworks with the firefighter begin. These are not those lovey dovey fireworks we all like to see in a romance. These two just keep on butting heads, all while trying to deny their attraction to one another. An overgrown contraband puppy may just doom their relationship forever. You will have to read the book to understand this statement. Dog lovers will fall in love.
This was another great installment in The Coffee Loft series that had me laughing so hard at times. It was clean and fun to read. Grumpy vs. sunshine and rule follower vs. rule breaker make this a fun romance to read.
I dearly loved the two grandmothers of Drinda and Tom. These ladies knew how to live. They were not going to allow any grass to grow under their feet. There were also some yummy recipes at the end of the book. This is another winner for The Coffee Loft.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I loved the idea of this series and have already read one last month, Wake Me Up Before You Cocoa, by an author I’d read before. This one was from a new author to me. I liked the idea behind the story, and the small town had a lot of cute characteristics and fun characters. But there was so much going on. I felt like there were a lot of things that came between the two and at times it seemed like the part in the synopsis about them them working together on the Valentine’s Ball was in the background.
Drinda’s store and what she’d done with her little part of the franchise was really unique and even though I don’t drink coffee, I think I’d have enjoyed visiting her store for the baked goods! There was a mention of how she had mugs on the wall that people could buy, but it was just talked about at the beginning a few small details and then we didn’t hear anymore about it. I’d have liked maybe for that to play into the story more? There were also some things that seemed just out of place or like they didn’t fit exactly at times.
And while I wanted to love the couple, I did love Drinda for sure, the fact that Ford wanted a stay-at-home wife and so wouldn’t consider any woman with a job? Yeah, I know these are sweet romances, but that’s just so old fashioned, and even if he did kind of come around in the end, those are the types of guys that most women I know would not be interested at all from the first moment the guy said that.
On that note, I think one couple we meet in the story is from a book that the author has set in this same small town, and I might like to go back and read it! So not a bad story overall, just wasn’t super perfect for me.
In Cappuccino Mugs and Firefighter Hugs by Katie O’Connor Drinda has a Coffee Loft Shop. As she wants to make people come to her shop more often she gets a chance to show her baking skills, but there’s a catch: she has to work together with firechief Ford, the guy his grandmother thinks is The One for her. Too bad he is also her landlord...
This book is a wonderful addition to the Coffee Loft series. The writing style is flowing, the book is so easy to read. Drinda is a lovely character, she works hard, loves her shop and is determined to get more customers. Ford is a bit grumpy, he knows what he wants, but changes his mind somewhat after meeting Drinda. Their interactions in the beginning are humorous and their building relationship is just great, and thanks to working together for the Valentine Ball they enjoy it more and more. I loved how Ford got more friendly, even going so far as to be a testsubject for new flavors of coffee.
And I just adored Grammie L., she is a great character. She is not just a stay at home grandmother, but enjoys life enormously. Her matchmaking is wonderful, I smiled a lot while reading.
Of course things are not going smoothly at first between Drinda and Ford, but just when you think all is well between them, something (or someone) gets in between. You just have to read this book to find out.
I love all the books I have read so far in The Coffee Loft series and this one is also a sweet cute and relaxing romance novel. All books can be read as a standalone and I can really recommend all these lovely stories.
Drinda moved to be closer to her nana and she meets Franny when she opens up the coffee loft and they really hit it off until Franny starts to try to set her up with her grandson Ford and she tries not to meet up with him and then he comes and does an inspection and cites her for alot of things and then they are paired up together to work on a committee and they start to fall for each other but won't admit it to themselves or each other. One day at work Drinda is working and she sees a puppy that is out in the cold and she feels sorry for him and tries as she might she can't find the owner so she sneaks him into the apartment that Ford is renting Drinda and after having Oscar in the apartment and not getting caught one night she confesses to Ford that she has Oscar and he gets upset and tells her expect an eviction notice within the week and she storms out. Ford does not send the eviction notice but he does feel bad and then the girls talk with Drinda and she is resolute that she is done with Ford until the night of the Valentine's day party and while talking to her teen employee she realizes she does love Ford and Ford after speaking with Franny realizes it too and he runs after her to tell her and then start kissing and go back into dance. What a beautiful story to read and I felt all the feelings the characters were feeling and I loved this book.

This is book nine in The Coffee Loft series and it is Drinda and Ford’s story. Drinda had just bought the Coffee Loft in Cherry Lake and she is having trouble getting the customers in as they are all so set in their ways and if she doesn’t do something soon she could end up losing everything but being quiet, shy and reserved it may be more difficult than she thought. Ford is a firefighter and inspector and he likes things done the right way and also liked his life just as it is and he didn’t need a relationship especially after what happened in his past but what he wasn’t expecting is Drinda and how she made him feel. When Drinda and Ford end up having to work together for the valentine ball and spending more time together there attraction can’t be denied but neither are willing to acknowledge how they feel about each other and because they are both so stubborn and have different points of view it seems like they have no chance of ever being together unless they can come to a compromise and communicate with each other because if they don’t they could both miss out on something special. What a great read along with characters that are fun and will have you smiling while reading this book and I look forward to reading more books in this series.
This is a cute and easy read. I enjoyed this sweet story. It had fun characters an an engaging relationship development. Drinda was trying to establish her coffee shop/bakery in her new community. One of her regular customers was determined to spark a romance between her grandson, firefighter Ford, and Drinda. “He was perfect for her…and nothing close to what she needed.” Their burgeoning relationship was complicated by the external ways that their lives entwined: he was responsible for fire safety inspections of her business, and was her neighbour and landlord. They also had different expectations for a long-term relationship and their respective roles. Could they find their way to a compromise that offered a future together? “‘No human is perfect. You just have to find the one who’s perfect for you.’” This story ties to the Cherry Lake Firefighters series, and there is a little character carryover from the first story, but it reads as a standalone. It is also part of a multi-author series of standalone books loosely connected by the coffee shop chain. This is a closed door story with mild innuendo and no harsh language.

Drinda has spent ages renovating the old church into her new bakery and coffee loft. After spliting with her ex because he didn't like her working she moved near her Oma (gran) who she had spent her summers with as a child. A new town, new job and hopefully a relationship with a man who accepted her for who she was. Ford loved being a fireman as well as owning quite a few properties he rented out. But he was very set in his views, no pets at all, no leeway to any rules and he wanted a relationship but he only wanted her to be a stay at home mom again not compromise at all. The characters are so opposite in views, yet very similar with taste in films and family values. Can these two learn to accept each others views and opinions, or are they both too stubborn to admit any relationship needs compromise. Again another brilliant addition to The Coffee Loft series, each book has different characters and can be read as a standalone, but I've enjoyed reading them all and this is no different.
Oh my goodness , these two … and both with interfering Nosy Parkers for Grammies . Drinda McKenzie has left heartbreak behind when her friend tells her about Coffee Loft selling a franchise in Cherry Lake where she spent good summers with her grandma (Oma )who still lives there albeit in senior housing she feels it’s destined , she loves baking and is into coffee. Ford Lunghamer is shift Chief firefighter for Cherry Lake ,he also happens to be her next door neighbour and her landlord as he owns 10 units including the suites she and Ford live in , he has a strict policy that he won’t budge on ….Theres only room for one male in her life and he has a wagging tail . Great chemistry , awesome banter and inner thoughts are hilariously genius! A perfect cosy romance with a bit of angst. Sweet like the Maple Bacon Latte she makes and as wholesome as her fresh bakes. Easy reading ,a fun and quick story to immerse yourself in for a few hours . Bravo Ms O Connor on a beautifully written romance novella.

Cappuccino Mugs and Fire Fighter Hugs is part of the Coffee Loft series. This is a multi-author series with all books centered around or featuring a Coffee Loft shop, but all books can be enjoyed as standalones with no confusion.
This book was as sweet and cozy as its name suggested! First of all, I enjoy a meddling grandma, so Grammie L. certainly added in that fun element for me--- but honestly, these two didn't need all that much help to start. They were definite opposites in many ways, but they seemed to balance each other well... and who doesn't enjoy a good opposites attract story? Throw in a cute dog to add just a smidge of drama and this made for quite the enjoyable Valentines romance! This is definitely one you'll want to have a snack with... all the dessert talk made me hungry. I also appreciated the recipes at the end too! While this was a very quick read, I didn't find myself feeling like it had been rushed or that anything was missing. It was just the perfect bite-sized sweet romance.
Cappuccino Mugs and Fire Fighter Hugs is a closed-door romance with kisses only.
**I received an ARC for consideration. All opinions are my own.
OMG this was such a fun read. I devoured this book in a few hours. I couldn't put this down. Drinda and Ford were enjoyable characters. I loved how their story came together. All the characters in this book were good and Katie just made you feel like you were right there with everyone. I loved all the saying she used through out the book. I'm gonna start using "Holy Steaming Latte" . When she shakes ford's hand for the first time she thinks " Holy Hot Chocolate Syrup". It was cute things like that just made you laugh out loud and swoon. I HIGHLY recommend this book and all the books in this wonderful series. I can't wait to read some of Katie's other books. Grab a cup of coffee and ENJOY this book!
Another great book in the coffee loft series! While this is in a multi author series it can be read as a stand alone novel. This story is a dual pov, clean romance and has a bunch of grannie scheming. Drinda is the owner of a new coffee loft franchise in a small town where her oma lives. One of her favorite and loyal customers keep pushing for her grandson and Drinda to hit it off. Through some serious grannie scheming Drinda meets Ford, the single firefighter in town. Drinda and Ford butt heads and ultimately have to put aside their differences since they have to work together over and over again. They soon learn who the other person is deep down and have to decide what they want for their HEA.
Drinda McKenzie is hoping to make a living with the Coffee Loft franchise she has bought into. Her landlord’s grandmother is a delightful customer who is trying to get her together with her grandson, Ford Langhamer. But Drinda has sneaked her puppy into her living quarters, which is not allowed, so she needs to avoid Ford at all costs! As for Ford, he had a bad relationship that made him not very eager to find another woman in his life. But when they are put on a mutual project, the Cherry Lake Valentine's Ball, the two will have to work together. When he thinks they have chemistry together, she suddenly backs off. Will he find out why? Is compromise possible? Or will they go their separate ways?
This is the first book I have read from Katie. It was enjoyable from beginning to end. The characters were well written and enjoyable to read about. The storyline had depth and was enjoyable from beginning to end. Drinda decided to move back where she felt like it was home. She opened a coffee shop and starting living her life. Ford is a firefighter who works across from her coffee shop and instantly feels something for Drinda. But realizing that he is so much more than just a neighbor throws a wrench in what could be. These two have a unique story to tell. Katie does an amazing job telling that story. It was sweet lovable and enjoyable going on this ride with them.
Cappuccino Mugs & Firefighter Hugs~ Part of The Coffee Loft Series. This is Katie O'Connor's book as part of The Coffee Loft Series. I found this book to be written very well, with strong characters, Ford the Firefighter and Drinda who brought into the famous Coffee Loft franchise, in Cherry Lake. This is a sweet story that has a grandmother who wants her grandson to fall in love. Will Ford and Drinda get their own HEA? Such an enjoyable read that keeps the reader hooked until the end. I highly recommend it. Reasons I enjoyed this book: Entertaining, Happily Ever After, Informative, Page-turner, Romantic, Realistic, Firefighters, and Wonderful characters
This book is part of the Coffee Loft series. This is a multi-author collection that features romance and coffee. Each stand-alone story is the right blend of sweet, guaranteed to warm your heart. This is story is a sweet small-town firefighter romance. Great realistic characters that you fall in love with. I really liked how the author built up the relationship between the two main characters. I was rooting for their happy ending through the whole book. Detail well plotted storyline that keeps your attention throughout the book. Witty and humorous dialogue that keeps you smiling. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story.
Ford and Drinda - This is a great sweet romance. Ford and Drinda are pushed together by his Grammie L. She wants great-grandbabies to cuddle and those two are a perfect combination. But Ford wants a stay-at-home wife like his own mother. Drinda is a career woman through and through. Is there room for compromise to secure their love? A great tale with a wonderful cast of characters, even down to the persistent pup that got Drinda in trouble. Ford was a real stickler for order and rules before he met Drinda. But the heart wants what it wants, and his wants Drinda. Good thing she likes him too.

Cappuccino Mugs and Fire Fighter Hugs is the ninth book of The Coffee Loft Series. These books are all standalones which are connected by being set in a Coffee Loft franchise.
As a new to me author, Katie O'Connor pleasantly surprised me with this book. Slightly longer than most of this series has been, I truly enjoyed the story of Ford and Drinda. I loved the quirky exclamations!
With a matchmaking Granny, a prohibited puppy, a sweet as can be barista and a smoking hot fireman - this sweet rom-com has all the ingredients for a great read. I definitely recommend.
This is a new author for me and I absolutely loved the story. It was cute, fun, entertaining swoony and sweet. I enjoyed the coffee shop, bakery mixup. I loved Drinda (cute name), she was bubbly and confident. I really enjoyed the side character of Maxi. She was fun. Ford was hunky and a gentleman, but had some very old-fashioned thoughts. I really appreciate that. This was a clean and wholesome story. I loved how the author was creative in her non-swear words. I will consider reading this author again, but noted in her bio that she writes erotic romance, which I do not care for. so hopefully her other books are well labeled because I would read more of her clean and wholesome type books.
I love this series. The Coffee Loft books all are sweet stories with fun, interesting characters. In this one, Ford is a lifetime resident of Cherry Lake and involved in the small town. He is a firefighter, inspector, property owner and rule setter and follower extraordinaire. Drinda has opened up her Coffee Loft store franchise in a renovated church. She may love coffee, but her real passion is baking. They stumble at first, but with small town meddling and nosy grandmothers their destiny is sealed. I enjoyed the story, and their HEA was perfect!.
